      Yikes. You do not want to be sticking your hands in a bush that you weren't sure if a copperhead is snoozing beneath. We had a friend that was bit by a baby copperhead. He spent a while in the hospital receiving bags of antivenom. They got rid of their chickens after that.

    Your garden looks good and you sound to be at a similar stage to me. I've also had a few cucumbers and tomatoes to eat, but the peppers are just taunting me. Your berries though, look amazing, maybe I need to invest in some fruit bushes next year! I fancy looking at growing rhubarb too. Well at least with the rain you don't have to water your plants today! The brush muncher is great!

    • @LivingtheSilverLife

      Ya know rhubarb is something I haven’t had much experience with. You can’t get rhubarb in Texas so until I married Bill and started coming to NY, I had no idea I loved strawberry rhubarb anything. 😂😂

Just yesterday, Bill made a long trail to get some logs out, and I harvested a whole basket full. The most yet. I go out about every other day to pick, and I always get about half a basket. Yesterday I got a gallon ziplock bag full. Love it.

    Hello there, looks like a great crop this year, I also have a ton of blueberries and raspberries here right around the side yard, no blackberries that I have noticed. Now we have been very dry again this summer, we need more rain. Have you ever noticed any small white worms in the raspberries?

    • @LivingtheSilverLife
      @LivingtheSilverLife  Год назад +1

      Very nice. We love raspberries, and we have a lot of wild ones, but they didn’t do as well this year as they did last year. We honestly haven’t noticed little white worms. We will keep an eye out for them. We have a couple wild blueberry bushes, but not very many. We also have some wild strawberries. Quite a few of those. However, both the blueberries and strawberries are really tiny. I do want to plant some blueberries we can actually pick in the pollinator garden. Y’all have been dry and we have been overly wet. One of the reasons our raspberries didn’t do very well and our blackberries did great. 😂👍🏼

Very few tomatoes survived. Bell peppers are strange. I had those too. I got one crop of green (4) off the first picking. After that first picking they exploded. I had to leave them on the vine until October to get to yellow. I love yellow and Orange. Not crazy about the green. Are those berry bushes indigenous or did you plant them? So much fun to see Bill come over and get a path going. I got to clear a half acre for my grandparents when I was 12. I used a machete and had a blast! Your home is wonderful! ❤❤❤

    For the tomatoes - if your using Heirloom seeds versus hybrid seeds, often times temp - to hot to cold, insufficient sun light, insufficient space between plants, lack of water, excess nitrogen, or just poor pollination from bees can cause the blooms to drop... Hybrid seeds have been engineered to grow in poorer growing conditions. Also not sure how deep your beds are, but in some cooler growing zones you need to plant the roots deeper in late May by transplanting them... Love the blackberries - those are just producing for you real good!
