We have never built a new house. We have lived here 39 years and we STILL are finding things to change, to add. I see what you mean about the window in the guest room. The good part is the window is there, even small it lets in light. I love your forever home.
Your cabin in the woods turned out really well. But, yeah, it is definitely easy to see things we would improve about any project once it is too late to easily fix them. We are glad yall are really happy with the new home even if there are ways you would improve it if you had it all to do over again. Thanks for sharing this build - and your thoughts on it looking back - with us!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this guys. Nothing is ever 100% perfect. And you will always find a few things to change. But if you love it, and you do, then that’s all that really matters. Can’t believe you’ve already been in there for seven weeks!! Time is just flying at the moment. Sorry for the late comment - we’ve been away again - North Wales with the family - a really great long weekend. Have a good rest of the week Bill and DeAnna
How fun. You guys are just out and about traveling. That’s so nice. You’re right. None of the things are big issues. Just good for thought for people who are thinking about building. We do love it.
Hindsight is always 20/20. Sometimes when there are certain problems, there are easy answers. The electric outlet in the bedroom is an easy fix. Run a small extension cord under the bed to nightstand lamp that has outlets on it, like in motels. I adore all the woodwork inside, gives such a cozy cabin feeling. I would not want to have to try to stain your ceiling now though, no fun.
It all looks so great, but can understand that once you get in to living in a place, you can see how things could be different. Give it all some time as it may grow on you, or can make some changes one at a time in the future. Enjoy it all!! Bruce and Otis
We love it. But just like anything there are things you would change. However, we pointed them out just so if someone is considering building, these are things to consider.
It always happens once you start living in your house, you'll always find a few things you want to change. But overtime, I think you guys will make it perfect! 🥰
You guys did great. I think no matter what you do, you always find things you wish you'd done differently. I've built four houses and learned from each one. Lynn and Danny
Don't you hate thinking of tese things after lol! We think the house looks great but totally get electric plugs and windows! Like the corner faucet - looks like it was supposed to be like that! We think Bill did an awesome job on the floor - I can't imagine how difficult that is. Agree the staining will be a job but as you said, no choice at the time. Love the back patio steps also. And the landscaping looks beautiful. So glad you love it! It is so hard to sometimes get proportion with size. Especially living in a camper for so long - everything seems big haha!
Our experience with transom windows are, that we do love them. Absolutely. But I would not put them in our bedrooms again. For two reasons; if you have someone sleeping in, and the transom window is opposite the headboard, the sun light is directly on your pillow, right where your face is. Normally that would not bother a person as we are not one to sleep in. But if you have a day sleeper, a baby, taking a nap, or if you have guests that have traveled and they’re sleeping in a little bit there’s no way to close the transom window. The other experience we had was that the transom window was placed like yours, above the headboard and we had a TV opposite the window. And even in the dark, the light reflecting off the transom window Was across the TV screen. The other thing that we would do differently is when we built the house we would have to put gutters up immediately. It turned out that it started fading the lower part of the exterior from the rain water splash shop. We waited almost 8 years before doing it as we thought it would be too costly but it turned out it was only $1300 . The dirt and rain splashed and faded about a foot and a half off the ground
These are all very valid points. We have so many windows. The light issue may be a problem anyway, but Atleast we can put blinds in the larger ones. We may have to get a piece of reflectix cut to insert for that very reason. Thanks.
Bill & DeAnna, the design upgrades are spot on!😇👍 Inclusive is the increase of Sq. Ft. space makes it just right for the corrections in the floor-plan! Don't be surprised how God blesses you 2 to make a 2nd place a possibility! Don't put it past God, he'll do just what you don't think!😇👍 Have a FABULOUS day today! Doug
B & D, don't put it past God, he'll do just what you don't think, and, blow your socks clean off your feet with a place of the same design-just a bit BIGGER with all the great views you have now of the land!👍😇 Doug
A house is never a finished project, but more like something that grows with the changes in fashion and things learnt while living there. So I guess you can make another list with valid points and experiences in one year's time:) Still, some points are a bit frustrating to realise after just a few weeks in the new place. But that is life unfortunately, but on the other hand you should make a movie about 10 things you do not want to change in your new place! I guess the bar will be on that list:) So hoping for a lottery win soon! All the best, Ant
We will be doing just that in a couple weeks. Our daughter is coming this week so we won’t have time for it to be this Sundays video, but we will have it out in two weeks probably.
We think it's perfect for you guys! We love your updates and pointing out out what you could change. Hope you win the lottery- or whatever that game is at the wing place by you guys 😂
I am absolutely in love with your guys' cabin! That's going to be an amazing place to spend a couple of weeks ion the beauty of nature! That has always been my dream to have a little place like that!
Interesting seeing what was missed and what you would change, until you start living there you don't realise how some things would work. Love hearing your thoughts for potential future plans.
Your home is so pretty! What about a pocket door or even a foldable style room divider that could hide the mechanical box area from the kitchen but still leave the top visible?
Hello Bill & DeAnna. Your new house looks so perfect to me. The same thing happened to me once I started living in my new house. Little by little I made some of the changes that I wanted. Thanks for sharing.
👍29 Your new house looked perfect to me. I am surprised that you made this list after moving in and living there for seven weeks. You may consider adding bigger-sized curtains on the small window over the headboard. 💕🌺🍀🇨🇦
Appreciate you sharing the lessons learned. Amazing to see the finished house. Looks beautiful. Watched it all. The placement of things and proportion tips are awesome. The texture concrete is interesting. Congratulations! Cheers and like
Oh my gosh, yes! We have a stupid outlet behind our bed and I do not like it at all! Yeah I don't think the patio door thing would bother me either. Must be the carpenter in him that causes it to bother him. Oh I can for sure see where putting the stain on would have been easier before hand, but I can also totally see why you didn't. I suppose you could always move the septic tank, right? I mean lots of work, more time and money, but if you really need to or want to, it could be done. Well you may have these things you wish you had done a little differently, but overall, you have an awesome place and did a great job with it. And I love your little home too! OOOH you thinking about a seasonal home in another state? Interesting that you said that. Now I'm wondering if that was a hint 😉Haha yup! Can't win if you don't play. But then, I don't win when I do play LOL
Yes, it is an awesome place. We love it. Yes, it would definitely be a lot of work to move the septic and would have to be reinspected. 😂😂. We are still pinching ourselves. Absolutely love it.
Hi my friends 👋 ! I love the cabin 🏡 ✅ !! Thanks for this excellent episode, so interesting to see and hear what you would perhaps have changed 😊👍 !! I am at the thinking stage of a building project just now, so this information was well timed for me 🗺️ 🏠! Cheers, Don 🙋
I've learned so much about your experience, I totally get the dual power outlets for the guest bedroom :) and so many other great tips, thanks for your knowledge!! It still looks great!!! Just in time for the holidays :)

Looked like nothing major and thought the place turned out wonderful. You really have my mind going would love to do this. Adding another outlet would be easy. I was wondering in a previous video about you adding a sliding door in the wall to go across the electrical area? We have noticed home ideas , repairs and upgrades are endless it's always something. I have so many dreams of what we would do if we win the lottery but yep we don't even play. Nice video it was a great idea to do this. Looking forward to watching more!
I don't think home ideas ever stop coming to you...we've lived in the same house for years and still find things we want to do!
No, I’m sure this is true.
We have never built a new house. We have lived here 39 years and we STILL are finding things to change, to add.
I see what you mean about the window in the guest room. The good part is the window is there, even small it lets in light.
I love your forever home.
Thank you. ❤️We love it too. It’s the first house that we built. All our other houses were built long before we bought them.
Cool hings We Would Change About Our Cabin
In the end you will never regret keeping your house up higher, one freak rain flood is all it takes to make you happy with your current choice
That is a good point. We have gotten the rain this year too.
It is nice to have a change to get better and different look for our house.

You are right. It is so easy to see things you’d do differently. Luckily, it’s not a huge deal on any of them.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this guys. Nothing is ever 100% perfect. And you will always find a few things to change. But if you love it, and you do, then that’s all that really matters.

Very true! We are going to add an extension cord. Yes, those ceilings are going to be tough. 😂😂
It all looks so great, but can understand that once you get in to living in a place, you can see how things could be different. Give it all some time as it may grow on you, or can make some changes one at a time in the future. Enjoy it all!! Bruce and Otis

We agree! It has been a fun experience.
Love love love your cabin! Hindsight is always 20/20 with anything we do
So true!
It is amazing what you have done! There will always be 20/20 hindsight. You learn from every experience! 😀👍
Very true! All in all we absolutely love it.
Don't you hate thinking of tese things after lol! We think the house looks great but totally get electric plugs and windows! Like the corner faucet - looks like it was supposed to be like that! Thank you. It has been a crazy summer. We’ve gotten a lot done in just a few months. Can’t believe it’s almost time to hit the road.

@@LivingtheSilverLife you do have beautiful light coming in and a beautiful home
Your cabin is very cool and suitable for going on adventures anywhere you like with your partner... quality life by walking anywhere close to nature.
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us.👍👍 Have a great day.🤩😁

We agree! God is good. We definitely feel blessed. This floor plan, only slightly larger, would be perfect some place else.
B & D, don't put it past God, he'll do just what you don't think, and, blow your socks clean off your feet with a place of the same design-just a bit BIGGER with all the great views you have now of the land!👍😇 Doug
Don't remove the "libation station"-oh sorry, your coffee stand by your bedroom door!😇🤓🤭⭐⭐⭐ Doug
Never. 😂😂It is there to stay.
Ma you have many wonderful year together in that beautiful cabin. HELLO! I wish you well. STAY ENCOURAGED 😊LIKED 👍
Thank you! You too!

Quick Pick😂😂. We do play that, but we rarely win.
I am absolutely in love with your guys' cabin! That's going to be an amazing place to spend a couple of weeks ion the beauty of nature! That has always been my dream to have a little place like that!
It is definitely doable. We are so happy here, and yet, it’s not a big place. It’s very small so not a lot of upkeep or expense.
Good ideas about some upgrades. Looks good as it is now too.
I think the house turned out great. There are always a few things that could be improved.
Agreed. We love it.
Interesting seeing what was missed and what you would change, until you start living there you don't realise how some things would work. Love hearing your thoughts for potential future plans.
It’s a great place.
Interesting video! keep it up with your content! stay safe there! stay connected!
So cool that you have a cabin to get away to! And your finished build is awesome! Love it so much!
Thanks.
Your home is so pretty! What about a pocket door or even a foldable style room divider that could hide the mechanical box area from the kitchen but still leave the top visible?
These are both good ideas, and definitely worth considering.
Interesting thoughts on changes. I think we would all do things a little different. It looks very nice. 🐸
I think so too! We all find hindsight to be 20x20.
Great plans and ideas for the future . You guys know exactly what you want . For me everything looks perfect.
Thank you so much. We love it.

Funny the things one finds later.
Yes. It is.
We adore your cabin! But it's always easier to know what changes you'd like to make after living in it!
It really is!
I still think it turnout great 👍 You definitely ended up with some odd mistakes, like the bathroom and the outlet in the bedroom 🤪🤦🏻♂️
I think so too! 😂
Appreciate you sharing the lessons learned. Amazing to see the finished house. Looks beautiful. Watched it all. The placement of things and proportion tips are awesome. The texture concrete is interesting. Congratulations! Cheers and like
Thank you. We love it. Still seems so surreal.
I love the cabin I hope to get something like it on my land thanks for the video.
Best of luck! It’s a lot of work, but we love it.

amazing video! 👍
Thanks for the visit
Nice video 👍

I like the idea of a room divider. A pocket door would be great, but we can’t make it fit. Too tight.
Nice video

You’re right. There is always something. Lucky for us none of these are deal breakers. 😂. We have thoroughly enjoyed the whole process.
Well, since you guys built it, a few of those things could be fixed right? LOL. Cool list. LIKE 92. 👍👍👍
You’re right.
Thanks for sharing
❤️
Mostly minor things. I think overall the place is fantastic.
Agreed.
Rather than more bedrooms, build a Bunkie outside for guest, then your not heating or cooling that extra space when not in use.
Great idea. We will keep that in mind.
Hi ! Great job Nice 👍
Thank you.
You’re both full of brilliant ideas when it comes to building a home and making beautiful things happen. ❤
