The way you map it out, slow it down.. so easy to pick up from there.. thank you, i struggle with tabs and how to position or transition, this helps soo much, fucking legend. Also the fact that solo was that clean and you put a cheeky harmony at the end. Legend
its my sixth month of learning guitar, (fifth from you). I was never expecting to be able to play this song relatively accurate so soon (maybe solo is a bit overwhelming atm :P). I really apreciate this way of learning, keep it going!
Hey man, thanks for being polite! Apologies for the upcoming wall of text, but I felt the need to address this in detail as I may even attach this to the pinned comment for any future instances. Feel free to skim through! I'm aware of the video, as I'm actually subscribed to Brandon and he's one of my favorite guitarists. I know that what's in this video is not the same as what he's doing in his. As mentioned in a pinned comment, I went strictly for the guitar that is in the right speaker in the studio version. In his video, Brandon is switching between parts. So naturally, it's definitely not going to be the same. Aside from this, I've transcribed a bunch of TBDM songs and I can confidently say that more often than not, there are audible differences between Brandon's videos (and live footage/audio in general) and the what's been played in the studio version. In some cases, specifically those of older songs from when he wasn't in the band, the differences are plenty. One of those songs for example, is Everything Went Black, which I recently did on the channel. The playthrough video has a lot of contradictions with the studio version compared to other songs. This even happens to some extent with some of the newer stuff, but certainly not as much. This is not unique to Brandon of course, and is very very common with a lot of metal players in general. It really doesn't matter for the audience if what's being played is the exact same as the studio version. However, the way I do things for the channel is that I always use live footage and playthroughs purely as REFERENCE and focus on getting things close to the studio version of the songs. Despite all of this, I could still be off with some parts. I always tell people to go with whatever they feel is most accurate. A last note to add, is that there are will also inevitably be fret position differences (same notes, different places on the fretboard)
Pretty unusual use of the melodic minor scale in parts of the intro riff. I thought you played it wrong at first until I slowed down the original track and listened to it in only one ear. You got it all right! Never noticed those strange notes before, very interesting
It is very interesting indeed! The differences between the two hard-panned guitar parts in their songs are very fun to learn and are educational. Splitting the stereo track into two separate mono tracks and working on each track makes it easier to figure out what each part is doing.
I checked the song out based on your comment. I never knew until now that it was also that song that's played during the ending of a hunter x hunter episode
No problem man! I've seen this countless times where a live show/playthrough (or even a tutorial!) by a guitarist of a band will have noticeable differences compared to what's going on in the studio version. This video is *strictly based off the studio version* and there are quite a few differences between that and Brandon's playthrough. There are many reasons as to why this happens. One of the main things to take into account here is that Brandon didn't write any of the riffs for this song, as it was was written way before he joined. He likely had to learn this by ear. He would have probably had access to the isolated guitar tracks so he could accurately learn it but at the same time, he could also change some things up and it wouldn't really make a difference. This is most noticeable in the solo, but it's ALSO there in the riffs. It's not at all a problem, but as I've mentioned, I ALWAYS go for what I feel is most accurate to the studio version and only use live footage as a reference if available. At the end of the day, I always encourage my viewers to go with what they feel is best or more accurate to them.
@@enigma1247 Haha, don't worry about it man! As I've already said, it's not a problem at all. I just wanted to address the confusion and clear things up with my perspective on the matter. Regarding the 7 10 7 10, that's actually a pretty straight forward one and not related to what I said about the playthrough having some differences compared to the studio version. Simply put, Brandon is playing the higher harmony of the riff in that part. The harmony is a third up and in the scale and would be 9 on the 4th string and 10 on the 5th string or 10 14 on the 5th string. *The 7 10 7 10 is the lower part and is mainly heard in the right speaker (the guitars are almost fully split in stereo in this song!)* It seems that they're mixing up the two guitars live rather than one person playing the right speaker guitar in the studio version and the other playing the left. As for Miasma, it's not very high up the list, but it is on there!
@@MZguitar if possible can you do it in D standard tuning? then the sound of Cm can be heard by playing D minor scale and it will be a lot easier to play.
It's important to mention that this tutorial is based strictly off the guitar that is in the right speaker in the studio version of this song.
