When I hear voice teachers say twang can iron out your breaks and unify your range, consolidate your vowels, facilitate super-high belting, and increase volume by up to 600%, all with little effort, my mind immediately goes to Chaka, whose voice embodies all of that. She's a (if not 'the') twang queen, and it really suits her unique stylistic mix of soul, jazz, and funk.
Thank you so much for sharing this video with us! She is one of the most admired musicians in the world. Prince - Sweet Thing (Live in London, 1998) ft. Chaka Khan: ruclips.net/video/Vz0K49M1PFk/видео.html
Amazing as always! I really love this Sirius and I'm still waiting for that day I can see Brian mcknight here. Congratulations! Pd. Hope everything is okay with the earthquake over there.
We're not sure which one you mean! But if you look up some of the lyrics you're hearing and include her name in the search, you'll probably be able to find it. :) -NYVC
When you scream that high it is not just screaming. It's screaming with technique. Good technique. The more efficient the technique the longer your stamina will last. That's why when people go to a football match and scream throughout the match their voice is hoarse the next day. That's pure screaming.....no technique. You don't call it "screaming" in singing. You call it belting. Belting is screaming with technique whether that is chest belt, mix belt or head/falsetto belt (which is kinda an oxymoron).
Yeah! Nice points! Volume is one of the major factors in this type of singing and belting. We want to control our breath/volume and make sure to let the microphone do the work. To your point @kathryncarter6143, some singers are also very, very bright. Chaka Khan has these tendencies, and it's not everyone's cup of tea and that's totally okay! :) -NYVC

But when these singers go to the higher levels; it just sounds like screaming to me.
