Seems like a fair and un-biased review, but pieces like this always fail to mention that countless Californians have hundreds of thousands - or even millions of dollars of EQUITY in their homes that will simply go further in other states. "Housing affordability" does not fully describe the issue.

There will always be new people moving in. I tried in the 90s and moved back. No jobs.
As though California couldn't stand to lose these numbers moving elsewhere, ? Seriously ? Here's an easily overlooked fact - Roughly 1 out of every 8 people that lives in the United States just happens to be living in California. State Population - almost 40 Million. Population of the United States - 328 Million. Easy math. Therefore, it might just do CA state some good, not bad. It could relieve pressures here in various economic areas. And if more of these individuals moving are Republican voters, then they're finally going to a state where their vote will count for something. But if more people moving are Democratic voters that are accepting the majority of high-tech jobs, as Texas has been bringing in more of this industry but require higher-educated people, then this could potentially/eventually turn Texas from its current Purple to Blue. If that happens, Republicans will never win the Presidency again. Too many electoral votes that will go the other way.
Middle class and businesses are being replaced by millions of illegal immigrants
I happen to think this is the reason so many in the media are reporting on this. They want other Californians to move to Texas so they can change it to a blue state. I think it was all planned for this outcome.
I had a cousin in California and moved to Tampa, Florida lived there for about 8 months, first they so excited everything good and living affordable. Then all certain after 8 months they moved back to Southern California. I asked why he said home insurance too expensive, hurricane’s happened too often, property tax too high,weather too hot, humidity and drugs and homeless everywhere.

I would like to see a breakdown of how many Californians with children v. retirees moved to Florida. As much as every Florida governor brags about improving education there, most schools pretty bad. Every time a student came from Florida and enrolled in my school their description of their old Florida school started with, “Oh my God…”
How are the schools in Compton, East LA, and Oakland?

@@safeandeffectivelol well, you are right. We’d need to break down the moves by location and economic standing. It would be my guess that anyone socio-economically disadvantaged in California doesn’t have the funds available to relocate to Florida. But it would be good to find this out.
California is also a crime infested hellhole so theres that with illegals running amok there.

Exactly. For context, my hometown has about 79.000 people. If we all packed up and left California, the surrounding cities would notice our absence for a week at most.
