18 cents for a lime?? Dude, where do you live? Where I live, a lime is 99 cents. Food prices are a lot higher here. But these vids are great, all the same. For me, the point is, you’re still giving me all kinds of ideas as to how to eat cheap. It’s just, food prices being higher, my is cheap more expensive than yours. But, relatively speaking, it’s still cheap. And I cut corners in other ways. Like I make my own bread and grow my own herbs in my kitchen.
lime cost around 25 cents in my area(Chicago), on sale 10 cents a piece. Which is relatively frequent for one of my local grocery stores to have it on sale. I'm guessing this is film in California considering it's tastemade. If your area does charge that much for lime. I believe it would be cost effective long-term to buy a lime tree. If your location is capable of it, and it would be a good addition to your local farmers market too since lime seem overpriced.
Yes agree also I find different things to be cheap at different places. Have to work with what you get like you have done. I thought .20 limes where I live was expensive considering how small they are and only the juice and maybe zest are used, but .99 for a lime wow. Are lemons even more expensive?
I live in Florida, we literally grow limes here and they also tend to be closer to a dollar a pop. And to be fair, if you have to visit a farmers market, and four grocery stores to get everything cheaper you aren't really saving any money are you.
Well in my neighborhood, Malibu, we have a wonderful farmers market, all fresh and a lot of organic fruits and produce. I purchased 4 limes for $1.09. If you listen to this fellow, and follow his other videos, buy bulk, etc...yes you can eat very well and on the cheap. Simply amazing dishes....and easy
@@sirjohndoeofpa3292 well John, while I don't disagree with the concept, in most of America it doesn't work out that way. In large concentrated populations there tend to be far better options in closer proximity. In more rural and less populated areas you might not have a choice to shop anywhere but a large grocery store. and unfortunately people who are looking for Budget meals most likely are not financially able to just move somewhere that provides better options.
I was afraid that your cheap Taco Party would be only chili minced meat and crispy “tortilla” shells; but instead was a cool recipe that actually looks mexican! Even with the weird addition of Szechuan sauce to masa, lol. Pretty sure if I replicated this my abuela would be proud. Nice job, Frankie!
Thank you so much for the video Frankie! This is literally the first video I've come across from RUclips that shows REAL Mexican food and not that shitty hard shell tacos or triple stuffed burritos.

Or you could just go to the meat counter at your local Mexican market... the ones in Chicago have fantastic meats and meat/veggie mix (like fajitas) by the pound for VERY cheap. They are preseasoned and always taste amazing. Much cheaper than anything I could find at Jewels, Tony’s, or Mariano’s (and the like)
I've never made tortillas, but those look great and within my skill level. I am trying to be a thinner version of me though, and my nutritionist tells me tortillas are pretty high calorie. How many calories is this? Is it comparable to store bought in that regard?

Error for my neighborhood parties the hosts buy pizza or fried chicken or whatever, and everyone else brings something little like salsa or different dips or even salads and desserts
Can you make another video like this, but with Hawaiian food instead of Mexican? I’m throwing a luau themed party in a couple months and could use some inspiration.
Will the pork taste like beer? Will it have actual alcohol in it or will that evaporate? Is there something non alcoholic you can use instead? Also for frying batter, there's a lot of times used beer - will it be the same case for that as for this?
Soda or watered down juice will work. I'd recommend a lemon lime soda or apple juice for how he's spiced it. But you could use some extremely watered down orange juice (I mean like 3:1 water to juice) and spice it with some cumin, oregano, cinnamon stick, and orange peel.
