Another SUPER obscure item that almost made the list are the glowing moss fishing bobbers!
I keep seeing those when I ask the guide what I can make and I do not know how to make it
Honestly I think thats more obscure than some of the items on this list. I didn't know they existed at all until reading this comment right now.
The toolbox is the most obscure item imo, You only get it from presents at a somewhat rare chance. And it isn't even good because all it does is increase building range by one.
Thanks to wiki I crafted it in my zenith world
Another super obscure one Is the helium moss fishing bobber to get helium moss you throw any type of glowing moss into a shimmer pool and craft it with a bobber
The problem with the chlorophyte extractinator is that it becomes available right after it is no longer needed, it would be very useful if it was pre mech
it can purify sand sandstone and stone
@@user-rr9150 so can a buncha other things. Plus, you don't need neutral variants to keep crafting so you can use hallowed and evil sand to make glass.
This thing can revert evil and hallowed stone to normal, useful in world that not allowed to purify manually
@@donkylefernandez4680 but its a good excuse to destroy my evil or hallowed desert. :(
They added it post mech so you would have to rely on ore rng until it doesn’t matter as to not distract them from the main gameplay
The shadow candle is essential for efficient underground farms as it removes the effect the skeleton merchant has on spawnrates
Wiki says that it doesnt
Skeleton merchant does not influence your farm. However i find candle good because you can move one npc below volcano farm and quickly sell items after long afk sessions.
@@paweswierczek6265 yeeee
I keep wanting to get one, but never am on the same world as my Graveyard Workstation. I then need it when I don't have it. 🪓
it also removes the "constant movement" requirement of the chaos elementals
The Encumbering Stone is a must for my multiplayer runs with friends. Dropping it onto someone and waiting for the realization/reaction never gets old. It basically becomes a game of hot potato.
That's evil and I love it
Woah calm down. I like that Idea though
haha love that!
Hold up, I need to do this. Thank you so much
Oh, I've seen Gromek and co playing this game, it was hilarious.
Surprisingly remembered rainbow string aswell as dye but forgot how tedious it was to craft
the shadow candle is super useful, as it removes the movement requirement for chaos elementals
Wait, WHAT?
You mean I can go afk for these things again with just one item?!
cap
There’s a movement requirement for chaos elementals? I need more details on that
@@paytonallen1027 you need to move or else they wont spawn
@@ianluk8855 indeed
I always like finding enough dye to make a rainbow dye in a playthrough, because even if I’m not playing Melee, Rainbow String (and string in general) has an added effect where it’ll change the color of fishing rod strings as well
I never knew this, that is really neat actually
Now that's an actually obscure fact. Nice!
fr, and goes AMAZINGLY with the helium moss fishing bobber!
I knew about the colored strings, but was always disappointed by the fact that the colors couldn't translate into a yoyo bag. For some reason up until this point I never even considered the possibility of just putting one in a vanity slot
Here’s some suggestions for 5 more obscure items:
1. Glow Tulip - a pet found with a flower in the outer edges of the world added in 1.4.4
2. Glowing Moss Fishing Bobbers - (my favorite of the list) it’s an item that increases fishing power by 10 and glows in the dark in the moss’s color that you selected. It’s crafted with the fishing bobber and 5 fallen stars to make the “glowing fishing bobber” it’s then crafted with 5 of any moss (obtained by using a paint scraper (sold by the painter) on any of the glowing moss biomes) at a tinker’s workshop.
3. Full Moon Squeaky Toy- a small werewolf sold by the Zoologist during a bloodmoon in hardmode
4. Rainbow Cursor- obtained as a 1/20 chance from Empress of Light that causes your cursor to change colors
5. Rainbow Rod- a magic weapon that fires like the magic missile ad flamelash crafted from:
-10 crystal shards
-2 unicorn horns
-10 pixie dust
-8 souls of light
-15 souls of sight
Just like the 5th one in the video, number 4 shouldn't rly be here because it's quite common for people to obtain it by accident
Also idk about others but me personally found crystal shards in the hallow and wondered what they were for so gave them to the guide and figured out abt rainbow rod without the wiki even
Is the rainbow rod obscure? I almost always grab it in my mage playthroughs
Rainbow rod is definitely not obscure. You can see it when taking basically any hallowed crafting material to the guide, and is also required for an achievement.
The rainbow rod is one of the best post-mech mage weapons, definitely not obscure in my opinion
I remember seeing the glow tulip In early game in one of my worlds and was so confused I got It and was pleasantly surprised by the fact it gave me a pet
Cool extractinator
The enumberment stone is still one of my favorite items that I use all the time. I don’t even know how or when I got it, but I knew that it was ∀ game changer as soon as I got it
Rainbow sting/any of the yoyo strings also change the color of the fishing lines as well, it doesn't do anything functional but it looks nice
Another dope obscure item is the Venom Dart Trap, crafter with 2 spider fangs and a normal dart trap. It was introduced in 1.4.4 and DAMN it makes AFK farms 10 times better.
Me eh leido muchi la wiki pero eso y las flares nunca las conocia
The golf cart, as it requires a minimum ammount of points in the golf minigame to even be sold. Or the ultraabeorbant sponge, as it requires all the other sponges and we all know How hard it is to get the honey one.
As an endgame melee player with non-progression related goals, i always carry an Encumbering Stone in my hotbar
Rainbow String also works on fishing! I usually craft 2 since you can get 2 dyes while going through the crafting process
fun fact! yoyo strings also work on fishing rods allowing you to change the line's color
I'd argue that the fairy glowsticks and the bouncy boulder belong on this list too
Unless you're a mechanic on a multiplayer server :'). My friends would lead the enemy away from traps to survive because they can't micro dodge (and to be fair, multiplayers servers got that LAG). Then the fairy glowstick rave heats up my pc so much the server shuts down
Bouncy boulder is not obscure
I think the wand of frosting is an extremely obscure item as basically no one uses the wand of sparking after any sort of upgrade, so no one knows that it can be made into the slightly less bad want of frosting
I wouldn't say it's obscure, multiple videos about 1.4.4 covered it and many even had it on their thumbnail
I only knew 2/5 of these items and i actually got surprised by the other 3 (the flare ammo types, the rainbow string and cloro extractinator), you really don't see these things on a normal playthrough if your not exclusively going for them that's why we have sockerteez to show us ;))
Spelunker flares are as bright as the ultrabright torch making it very handy for early game cave exploration
Another banger by an up and coming terraria youtuber. Ive beaten the game so many times with over 400+ hours and these videos has been a good help for some of my playthroughs :)
I literally never used Obsidian Outlaw Armor in my Summon Only Run, and I saw the video about that set... the day after I beat that run. 🪓
lmao i had 550 hours in the game and had never beaten the mechs in classic difficulty because i didnt use armor sets, bonuses, classes, or use any guides, I know why i was losing now
I love the spelunker flares, when you just need to mine for ores shooting one gices a nice range of detecting any type of treasure, and it works best when digging down as the flare tags along when breaking the blockd underneath
Shadow candle is actually really useful in mob fa4ms because it nullifies the peaceful benefit from a skeleton merchant giving you better rates for a single easy to craft candle
2:22 In a server there's quests about getting gem critters, so people in this server built gem farms under the cave village, but if you didn't want gem critters but yes mobs, you could activate a shadow candle so it spawns more mobs than critters.
Shadow candles are useful for underground grinding. Skeleton merchant lowers spawn rates which is something I don't want so I use shadow candles to prevent this issue
Spelunker flares are one of my favorite tools for exploration as it has a bright radius, basically its an ammo version of the ultrabright toarch
I knew about all of these items, but I didn’t know that rainbow dye doesn’t require red dye to craft
Same and same haha, I was waiting for red dye to be mentioned for the crafting recipe haha
The shadow candle can be very useful if you want to teleport to your enemy farms using pylons. I use it for an underground farm
Personally, I’d love for them to rework the encumbering stone to only pickup certain types of items. It’s the same way the duplication menu has those separate item types, where you can toggle between only consumables, blocks, etc. (of course not specific items for spoiler reasons)
No views? This is one of the few times i will comment "first". This is the first time i've seen a video with no views just after it was released. Will edit this after watching the video.
EDIT: Out of the 5 items shown, I knew about the existence of about 3 of them. The Encumbering Stone was something I didn't know was in vanilla Terraria though, I usually found it in modded and thought it was a Fargo item. The Rainbow string was fairly new to me, but I do recognise the use of coloured strings. The chlorophyte extractinator I also remembered.
The Shadow Candle was something I has no clue existed however. The spelunker flare i did not recognise nor many of the flare variants.
In general items and changes from the most recent update are unfamiliar to me. Enjoyable video!
The Encumbering stone is amazing for pranking your friends in multiplayer!
The only one I didn't know about were the spelunker flares; adds some much needed value to the flare gun for me. However, I've never made or used anything in the video. The Encumbering Stone is useful but I don't mind carrying blocks since they may come in handy later in early game, orrr my inventory is typically full later on.
Something I love about your videos is the amount of research you put into them. There are so many things that I have learned about terraria from your videos! Thank you.
I think the clorophyte extractinator should be obtained by shimmering the extractinator. It functions similarly to shimmer in some ways, and would allow you to use it pre-mech, making it very useful
In my opinion, the spelunker glowsticks are a lot better than their flare counterparts. Saved me so much time whilst mining chlorophyte
I have never heard of the chlorophyte extractnator until that post you made! didn't know it existed
Love your videos! Been watching since 20k and subscribed since 30k
Ayy that’s awesome! Thanks for sticking around ❤️
The shadow candle can be used at cavern farms for skeleton merchant cuz it also reduces spawn rates and spawns frequently in those type of farms
True, but in hardmode any mob do a quick work on the dude.
@@chicomanara yea true but it still help me a bit for r.o.d
@@chicomanara undead enemies don't hurt him on physical contact
One thing about the encumbering stone is that they actually updated it to make it more useful. It used to be that when it was just in your inventory in general it would stop you from picking up items, so if you hit loot all on a chest containing it, you'd not be able to pick up drops until you did something with it. It's much more handy spawning in the unencumbering form since now it just sits there until you toggle it for the first time.
I had no idea you could put fishing junk into the extractinator, genuinely an amazing feature
Theres actually more to it. My best example would be: converting corruted blocks into their regular form
Knew about all of 'um. Never bothered crafting/using most of 'um. I found the Encumbrance Stone in Pre-Hardmode, my ADHD and autistic brain kept it in my inventory until Post-Golem, then came the relization that I never even bothered toggling on and off more than 2 separate times. It has since been locked away in my messy storage system never to be seen again...
One weapon that I crafted ONLY once, way back in the early 1.1 Xbox 360 days, and never bothered crafting again was Molotov Cocktails. Shurikens and Throwing Knives are just so much cheaper to obtain.
I knew the least about Spelunker Flares. I knew they existed, but I didn't even know if they were a vanilla thing for sure or not. The Chlorophyte Extractinator I've made several times, and I have actually actively seeked out the Shadow Candle.
Hope you have a good day socrteez
Deez?
knew about all of these. how about the portal gun station, luminite brick shimmer variants, candy cane hook?
The shadow candle has a use of being able to have a npc houses at your pyramid farm to be able to sell all of the junk right there and not have to go back to you other npcs.
Cool video, I genuinely did not know most of these items
I always use the rainbow yoyo string. Mainly with my fishing Loadout because it also changes the colour of fishing lines.
I always remind my friends about all of these whenever a reason to comes up. Used the Shadow Candle to farm NPC drops without doing anything. The only things I never mention are the Rainbow String because none of us like yoyos/would rather use dye as dye, cursed flares because they're worthless (flares already work under water so the cursed gimmick genuinely does nothing LMAO). I actually troll my friends with the encumbering stone ALL the time by giving it to them when they least expect it. I think anyone that watches some of the more popular multiplayer playthroughs of the game on RUclips right now has been exposed to that kind of trolling in some form.
If you want a real obscure item i don't think I've seen anyone mention the Teapot and its only craft, the Teacups. The Teapot is a post-Skeletron crafting station made with 12 bones and 12 clay blocks that uses 1 bottled water to craft 1 teacup. The Teacup is just 5 minutes of Well Fed, equivalent to eating most fruits straight, or 5 times longer of a buff than an uncooked marshmallow. It's incredibly cheap to stack up a bunch of the minor food buff from it, but it's entirely outclassed by any amount of fishing, catching most common critters, crafting with fruits, or mob drops.
this is 1 month old, but cursed flares are the equivalent for cursed flames of the golden shower, an infinite piercing weapon that inflicts the debuff, for a good duration too, 10 seconds!
@@BitSpartan While true, you typically don't use a weapon just for the debuff (the exceptions mostly just being ichor and betsy's curse) and the flare gun has pitiful damage output for when you get access to hardmode flares. To make them worth looking at you'd need a hardmode flare gun to match the hardmode flares. Like how the hardmode dart guns have hardmode darts to use. They would be something to consider at that point.
@@Xeconis the flare gun can be easily acessed with the smart cursor which makes it a lot easier to get in a battle than ichor if you arent a class that has ichor based weapons like bullets or flasks, like you wouldnt use golden shower as your dps weapon
the shadow candle can be used in the discord rod farm from preventing the skeleton merchant to reduce spawn rates
it also removes the constant movement requirement of the chaos elementals, so it's a double profit
Sockrteez is the guy who looks at items and does absurd amout of research just for us I love your content!
The super heated blood is an an amazing liquid mount just after Wall of flesh
So much fun to just mess around with. Shame there's not much to do in liquids.
@@theelementalgamer5910 Unless is the Dont go up seed
This editing is super good
I think the Encumbering Stone should still let you pick up Coins. Then it would be a nice item to have.
Shadow candles are essential for me, my pilon bases aways serve a secondary function other than teleport, they are also farms
About turning “Trash” into fishing bait.
With High Test Fishing Line and a small water source you can farm infinite bait.
You see, you would've had a point with the shadow candle and the encumbering stone if we're talking in singleplayer, but i belive that terraria is best served with friends (or enemies) which allows for some great trolling to be had (also the stinkbug is way more obscure than anything on this list)
Did you know that the string acessories actually change the color of the fishing rods' string as well?
I usually go after the rainbow string all the time just for the sake matching the Xenon moss fishing bobber with it.
If you're knowledgeable about fishing which isn't very hard to do, like 15 minutes on the wiki, then you quickly find out how useless the Cholortractinator's third use is. If you fished early then you'll have Masterbait. If you fish late then you've the means to create fishing locations. By the time you hit chlorophyte you should have a backpocket angler/miner sets along with a hand of creation/ancient chisel. If you don't know about fishing, you're most likely to head into the jungle for easy bait, if you know about fishing then you create a dip on both sides of your forest town to catch worms for enchanted nightcrawlers. If the extractinator itself processed junk then it would have a use but because you have to fish in order to process junk, it's likely you already have decent fishing power and a handful of bait from crates and quests that becomes practically infinite. It's not unusual for me to obtain 200 Masterbait by the time I hit chlorophyte and I just split it with my friend so it's more of a "found out" tool than a "meta" tool. A meta tool would be the Grave Digger's Shovel. Seriously, try it out. Breaks a 3x3 area of soft blocks in two hits which is like every player's first idea to tunnel under the world at night so early game mobs can't hurt you.
Remember, the shadow candle counts as a light source helping with optimal angler torture, making it one of the most useful items.
There are so many items we can't really remember most of them, incredible game
The Encumbering Stone was a extremely helpful tool in anarchy servers where people murder the moon lord 589765 times at spawn and fill your entire inventory
I always use the shadow candle for my cavern afk farms since the skeleton merchant that would occasionally spawn nearby definitely lowers the spawns, even with a water candle and battle potions
The rainbow string and all other strings in the game will change the color of the fishing rod lined. All also all others except the flares I did know about the shadow candle is in the game but the other two, I get a good amount of use out of them except the encumbering stone in multiplayer, just throw at someone and start a boss fight and whack them sit there trying to figure out why are they not picking up anything for a little bit
By the way the string affects your fishing rod too, so you can get a rainbow string and a helium fishing bobber for double rainbow
I'm proud that I knew about all of these... even if I forgot how to obtain the encumbering stone. lol
My main blindspot when it comes to Terraria is weapons. With so many classes, sub-classes, side-grades, crafted weapons, dropped weapons, found weapons, fished weapons,
I'm pretty sure there are still weapons legitimately obtainable in the game that I have yet to learn of, let alone obtain and let alone try out.
i can definitely think of more obscure items imo! chlorophyte extractinator isn't great but it's known about, and encumbering stone is massively useful
The only item I didn't know from this list was the rainbow flare.
I thought I knew all the game throughout but you managed to find that one item i never knew about.
I dumped all my cash into spelunker flares the first time my skeleton merchant had them. They're such an indispensable tool when you're trying to find underground chests and hardmode ores.
Somehow I knew about the fact that junk can be converted into baits, though I never used that really... I never fish if I can ignore it :D
And the Encumbering Stone... I mean I saw that, I think that in older versions you could fish it?... maybe not, but I knew about it and I used it a bit.
Shadow Candle was reviewed by someone a long time ago, and I knew about it too, never used it tho.
Chlorophyte Extractinator - I mean... as I'm still playing on TModLoader 1.4.3, I didn't use it, still I knew about it.
The yoyo string was interesting, because I knew about the Rainbow Dye and about the fact that you can dye those strings, but never seen/thought about Rainbow String.
Amazing video ! Also the encumbering stone may have some trolling potential.
Thanks RUclips for notifying me 8 hours after the video was posted
I actually used a shadow candle for decoration once, I didn't even realise what it did!
nice video i always learn something new
encumbering stone is so obscure that when i came across it in a calamity playthrough i thought it was part of it or some other mod
When I started I always used the spleunker flares and glow sticks I thought ever one used it tbh
I did not know about any of the alternate flares, tho I can't imagine I'm going to use them much
How about the Salmon (fish) which can only be caught in the forest if theres more than 1000 tiles of water
I actually use the shadow torch, I use it in my mega farm where I have my underground village located below it
funnily enought the only thing I didnt know about in this video is that you can use junk on an extractinator
Favorite obscure item is the zenith
What's your favourite obscure item ?
100% the chloro extractonator!
Love the stardrop in the thumbnail
Missed yesterday’s day 10 of asking for pirate staff review (good on dreadnautilis)
about the last item i was sure that it's from calamity since i only got this on my modded playtrough
I guess I was absent right when 1.4.4 came out bc I have literally never heard about the weird flare variants or shadow candle
Ahhh, the rainbow string, one of my favorite for the yo-yo class.
i knew about the chlorophyte extractinator, encumbering stone, rainbow, spelunker and shimmer flares, rainbow dye and rainbow yoyo string
C'moooon! Pleeeeaaaaase make a video on Fetid Bang... Baghna... Fetid Bangwhateversies!
i use the floating island houses for useless NPCs (like the painter), so the Shadow Candle will greatly help me when getting souls.
will have to remember it exists next time i reach hardmode.
Really don't know if Socrateez put in for clickbait but I have never seen the Stardrop from Stardew Valley in Terraria. Ever.
I checked on the wiki, and you need to give the dryad some joja cola.
I never knew the Stardrop existed. My recommendation, remove the Chlorophyte Extractinator, Shadow Candle, or even the Rainbow String, mix up the list the bit, and put the Stardrop in number 5. Maybe include the Binoculars or Ultra Absorbant Sponge as well.
Or perhaps a lot more people know about the stardrop, and I've just been in the dark about it.
Honestly I genuinely forgot fishing junk is a thing, since I literally never get it. Seriously, the last time I fished up any was a good couple playthroughs ago
I knew about the weight thing cuz I keep finding it in under ground dessert houses
The encumbering stone is the best item for trolling they’ve added in a while.
I got the encumbering stone relatively fast in my last playthrough and also… completely unintentionally.😂 Gratest random item i have gotten in a long time.
they're not obscure, but i've personally never made a pre-hardmode metal pickaxe that wasn't gold or platinum.
it's fairly easy to get both ores, and being able to mine them with the Copper Pickaxe kinda nullifies the point of pickaxe upgrades.
yeah, it's got -1 range and mines a bit slower - but saving those bars for armour or what have you is a lot better imo.
Dying golf balls is obscure unless you frequently golf or build courses for the workshop or friends.
i have absolutely never heard of the chlorophyte extractinator but other than that i knew about all of these at least somewhat though i dont use any
My comment days ago really become a video discussion of obscure terraria items
The Guide to Peaceful Coexistence is my favorite obscure item
