For him to sit in the stall without the bull kicking and trying to escape the stall means that’s a really mellow bull. The vests and helmets are in case the bull lands on you. Help protect your interior organs and from brain trauma either from the fall or the bull.

This seems to be a dude-ranch version of bullriding. Which is okay, as it was obviously as much as they could handle already. You have to build up to the specific muscles and reflexes needed to do it well, like the guy at the end who just hopped off.

I wouldn’t recommend trying bull riding as a first timer. Cowboys work their way up to this, and it’s very dangerous, even for someone who is experienced.

Frankie was a sweet animal. You could probably walk up and give him a hug.
He bucked to get rid of the strap then just stood there. But bulls are very strong big animals. They can crush you just moving around. Be careful around big animals. Bulls, cattle, horses, etc.

I can't tell you how often they would come in to school on a Monday with a cast on some extremity or other, except for the ropers. We're all too old now, they're all business owners, pilots, etc. now, but some of them train the next generation, and our class reunions always end with a roping contest.

My husband rode bulls for 20+ years, he has had his balls crushed, ribs broken, shoulders ripped from sockets so much he had to have surgery, lots of wrist breaks and too many concussions and bruises to count. Bullriders live for the rush, the pain, and the payday

years ago... when I was about your age, I saw a small ad in the local paper: LEARN TO RIDE A BULL - ONE DAY SPECIAL.. so I figured I was still young enough to get up off the dirt, I went out to check it out... first.. the form one fills out is about 3 feet long, next they showed me the bulls and while they were small - a bit bigger than the ones in this video, and they were not old decrepted ones I figured they would use.. and I decided right there that that was not gonna happen, but I did go back later that afternoon to watch the other people who did sign up - and man, they got throttled - so that was as close as I ever got

I’m proud of them. Bulls in the pros are different than that sweet calm bull.

You have cattle because you have "Sunday Roast (beef)" dinners and you couldn't have cattle without bulls.
"Spanky" looks so tranquil until they open the gate.
Hint for British bull riders: There's a reason Americans wear jeans, not shorts for this activity.

My ( friends ) lol, put me on a barrel rigged with ropes first, then put me in a rodeo three times. Both bulls and bareback broncs. Scared shitless

A full length ride is 8 seconds. Lots don't make it.
Lots of bulls learn how long eight seconds is and stop bucking when time's up. And ol' Sparky there ain't expending any more energy than necessary... there's a reason he's the introductory bull. 😄

I mean yeah of course the uk has bulls. You wouldn't have a continued population of cows otherwise

UK does NOT have bulls like what we have in US for these. I've seen bulls but these rodeo bulls are another level of attitude themselves.

Most Americans never try bull riding; they’re a special breed.

My sons did bull riding starting at about 8years old. The bulls are smaller and us Dads were in the ring helping. The bulls afterwards would want get back into the chutes and try to get to the front of the line to go again. I miss being out there on sunday afternoons with my boys.

There was a nightclub in Colorado Springs called Cowboys. In the early 2000's, they decided it would be a good idea to have live bull riding. In the middle of a nightclub. I only went once, but it was a really weird experience!

Has anyone pointed out what a nice gentle bull that was. That is what kids ride after they are done with mutton busting
