there's a movie called 8 Seconds about bull rider Lane Frost that was killed. While riding on the bull known as "Takin' Care Of Business", he dismounts after his 8-second ride but the bull turns back and hits him in the side with his horn, breaking some ribs and severing a main artery. As a result of excessive internal bleeding, he dies on the arena floor before he can be transported to the hospital.
Several of my high school students/cowboys appeared in the movie as competitors: shout out to Lipan, TX, near Stephenville, TX, Cowboy Capital of the World, home to Lane Frost, Ty Murray, Tuff Hedeman, Cody Lambert, and many other rodeo champions. Stephenville is also home to Tarleton State University whose rodeo team is recognized as one of the very best.
Basic rules for bull ridding 1- If you hold on for 8 seconds you make it, now they score your ride... 2- you can only use one hand, the timer stops if your other hand touches the bull, or you are knocked to the ground. 3- your score is 0 - 100... But you only get scored for 50 of those points... The bull gets scored for the other 50 based on movement, bucking, and all-around tenacity... This leads to a total score for the rider from 0-100. 90+ being amazing. 4- the rider can score extra points through style, composure, control, and by spurring, the act of pulling your feet away from the bull so that you are only technically holding on by one hand as oh way to show off your control. 5- if something occurs to knock the rider off ending the ride early that could be considered interference and not the riders fault, such as the bull falling over the second the gate is touched, or the rider falling off due to being rammed into the fencing, a red flag can be thrown out into the field by the judges... When this flag is thrown it means that the rider can now have a re-ride. If the rider so chooses they may take the judges up on their offer and attempt to ride the bull again... Sometimes to their own detriment. 6- you are not required to wear a mask while riding, but you can choose to. 7- the bull is rated for everything mentioned in #3, when regarding scoring, to determine the ranking of the bull out of all bulls within the sport... That way you can get higher scores and gloating rites by riding different bulls. Hope you enjoy the sport, also known as the most dangerous eight seconds in any sport....
Luke perry's best movie. Im from Chicago, and one of my best friends was a pro bull rider. Untill you see a rodeo, you can't appreciate how insane it is. The sheer size of these monsters are almost as shocking as how high they can jump.
Love watching you two. Raised in a rodeo and ranch family. I remain neutral on things of this matter, like most things. But love your reactions videos and open mindedness to content. Suggestion for y’all two is videos about Native American culture.
Hi guys, not for a million pounds would I spend 2 seconds on one of those massive beasts. My goodness those chaps are brave. It’s a sport I’ve never really watched, but it would be a rare time if I ever got the chance to watch live. I think I would spend the entire time with my hands over my eyes. Thanks for the upload 🤗🤗🤗
The only "wrecks" were the second cowboy after he bucked off and the bull camped out on him and the later rider who "hung up" WRECKS are only when things go really wrong. All else was normal bull riding.
The cowboys use a sticky rosin that they heat up by rubbing their gloved hand briskly up and down their rig and that makes it sticky. Then they wrap the rope around their hand. Sometimes they get hung up if they flip over and create a bind that they can't let go of and the bullfighters often have to help get them loose. Riders often get hurt when they get bucked off due to how they land, or the bull may step on them. And sometimes the bulls are a bit temperamental so the bullfighters try to make themselves look like a easier target so that the cowboy can get to safety. Just this season one bull actually scooped a rider AND a bullfighter on his horns at the same time and flung them like rag dolls like they were nothing.
You guys should look up a ball that used to be in the PBR his name was bodacious he was so dangerous they ended up having to retire him early but you have to see the rides that were down on him he was insane
Rodeo used to be more generally popular here in the US. It's become more regional in the last, oh, twenty-five years or so. Older folks like me across the country are still familiar with the basics. It started out as a way for ranch hands to show off their job skills; which is probably why it didn't catch on in countries that don't have a big ranching industry. I still like to watch it occasionally, just to see the talented folks do their thing. Interesting choice, BPR!
@Faith Reasons That sport is not for the faint hearted, competing or spectating..😳 We now know what PBR is but that is about enough for us two. Thanks for popping in...hope all is well.
The first ride when Cody was dismounting His spur got caught in his rope and it pulled his leg back under and the bull snapped it when he stepped on it.
You think a lot of American football players retire with lasting consequences of past injuries. These guys, even with the newer gear , (Helmet and flack vests). Still feel it the rest of their lives. You will notice that as you get older, the time you fell and twisted your back at 9 yo. That is one of the first places you will start having trouble with later, even if it didn't bother you 10 min. later.
I thought that "Wrecks" referred to nervous wrecks because I would be riding one of those beasts. You have to be crazy to do that sport, or just sick of living. Great video guys

They win thousands of dollars I'm not sure but I think it's hundreds of thousands of dollars. They start out learning on sheep. My daughter moved to Oklahoma and looked into it for my grandson. They start around six or seven.
The strap is called Flank Strap, it makes the bull buck. The bull knows if it twists and buck it’ll get the rider off and the strap will be removed. I forgot, the bull riders can choose between wearing a helmet or his hat, it’s their choice.
I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Home of the largest Rodeo event in North America, on the pro circuit. I've seen these up close and man oh man...these bulls are LARGE animals. Not sure why anyone would want to strap themselves to the back of one of these beasts while they tighten a belt around it's midsection to piss it off. Comes from old west traditions of course, but there is literally no reason to ride a bull, other than to show how crazy or stupid you are. These guys are a few bricks short of a house for sure LOL. Guys it is too late now, but I would have warned you off this one. Bull riding is pretty brutal. On a new level of crazy. Maybe you will like it. All bull riding isn't this bad. And legit rodeo is nothing like this at all. 8:13 I think the closest to the UK is they are thinking of an event in France. Maybe the reason there is no PBR in the UK is more common sense? However, there are probably some hard core fans over there. 10:36 There is always a risk in any sport. But few sports have 10-20% of the participants have had most bones in their bodies broken. It is truly on of those 'Hold my beer, I've got an idea' moments. Which is probably how the sport started in the US or Mexico. You guys should probably stick with 'Mutton Bustin'. It is the same thing but with little kids riding sheep and very fun to watch. 😀11:47 Top riders make big money. On average, you would probably be stunned how little a bull rider makes.
Sorry guys, I stopped early. I agree, they're brave. I wouldn't want a burly cowboy on my back 😁 I lived in Texas several years. I never wanted to see it live. 'End Cut Prime Rib' was close enough for me * 😋 Irish Hurling is intense enough for my sporting _tastes._ My Mum used to offer to 'kiss it better' when I hurt myself. But I don't think she'd offer the first guy 😉 * Yes, I understand that those rodeo bulls don't become meat for humans. I don't have a _steak_ in the PBR. Nor do I have a _beef_ with any bulls. It was a COWardly attempt at humour 😃
@G Bulmer That's totally OK, it's not for everyone and that's exactly what we are doing with the Sport reactions, finding new and otherwise unknow sports to us. This was a hard watch but also hard not to watch. Your Humour more than made up for it. Cheers for now. Hurling...now that's as good, one,, we have no idea about that, it will feature soon!! Thanks for the inspiration and info on that would be great!!
@@BritPopsReact Irish Hurling is called the 'Fastest Game on Grass'. It's a 'stick and ball' game. Hurling is non-stop, end-to-end action. It's _extremely_ skilful, athletic and physical. Players are so skilled they score from a sliver of a chance. Hence players must be 'on their man' _all_ the time. The most astonishing fact about Irish Hurling is the players are *AMATEURS!* Here's a short 'Rules' video covering how the game works (720p video) (just watch until 2m7s): - 'The Rules of Hurling - EXPLAINED!' [2015] (4m0s) ruclips.net/video/biFcgUB98ns/видео.html Starts with facts, then snippets of game play for all 'does' and summarises don'ts. Game play is covered by 2m7s. You could stop then 🤔 After 2m7s, it's 'dry'; covering restarting play, fouls, and penalties. List of Fouls at 2m43s. Penalty rules have changed (no defenders). This is the most popular introduction to the game and rules (poor, 360p video): - 'Hurling - The Fastest Game on Grass' [2009] (5m21s) ruclips.net/video/TmzivRetelE/видео.html There's an error (players can run 4 steps holding the ball). Also it's so old that they don't mention since 2010 all players must wear head and face protection. IMO it's not as good as 2m7s of 'EXPLAINED!' on rules. However, it does Hype the game. So it makes a good reaction video. Note: Senior inter-county matches last 70 minutes, the rest are 60 minutes, played in two halves. After either video, you could watch a game and get it 🤔😃 You might enjoy watching 5½ minutes of a _real_ game, for example this Epic: - '2018 All-Ireland SHC Semi-Final: Cork v Limerick' ruclips.net/video/NuT3jBl8-TE/видео.html (from 3m12s to 8m43s, game clock to 5m21s ) Five points are scored in 5m21s It amazing. They cover ground at breakneck speed. Or, you might like to watch a short video concentrating on game play and skills: - 'The Magic of Hurling II HD' [2019] (3m41) ruclips.net/video/I1Vw66Zs0dQ/видео.html High quality video (1080p) showing players' speed, and highlighting skills in slow-mo. There's no explanation of the rules. WARNING: If you watch a live game, use the toilet before starting. You won't dare pause or miss a second. Have plenty of 'fluids' and snacks on hand; watching hurling burns calories. 😃😃
@@BritPopsReact There's a 'Basic Rules of Hurling' 'poster' which might help you quickly understand the game. Using that title in a search engine will get you close. Look for an organisation called something like 'regulators hurling'. Then use 'about' then use 'rules'. The poster has an orange background with red writing. The game is covered in the first two columns. Under the 'poster' are lists of rules and facts. However, the 'poster' is easier to skim. The most important 'rule' is *There are NO Offside Rules.* I've tried to post a link in a reply but it isn't saved, so I emailed lockdownbrits ,,, You should be able to recognise my yahoo address 😄 Happy New Year to you and your families. 🎆🎇
They win thousand dollars per win but at the one finals the world champ gets a whopping 1 million I’m a bull riding fan and also a bull rider but I sure am glad I ain’t got in a wreck yet so I guess I’m lucky btw love the videos and keep up the good work🤠
hello my friendss, you have been so kind to me. I am a nurse from the United States that has been very sick for a while because of Covid and I find great joy and what you do I was hoping you could do a reaction for me. I would love to hear either I am by Steinbacher or great takeover by him. I've not been able to work for a long time.
To be honest, these weren't all that bad. There are lots of videos of some pretty bad crashes. The guys protecting the bull riders are called bullfighters. You should check out some of their videos. The bulls become famous and have their own fan club. Some you could react to are Little Yellow Jacket, Bushwacker, and Bodacious. Bodacious was so dangerous he was retired after a few seasons, but he was a smart bull who knew how to eject a cowboy.
Check out the best bull rider, J.B. Mauney. It gives some insight into why they ride and their approach to riding. J. B. Mauney has won millions of dollars riding bulls
These guys wear a Kevlar vest to help from getting a horn put through them or causing more damage when the ball steps on their chest or back a lot of them will wear the helmets to protect their head and face but a lot of guys don’t either
Ok, so as a natural blond, B1's roots are showing today! PBR on horses.... LMAO. This was a good introduction, somewhat mild as far as injuries and craziness! Please do more of these, there is a guy very near where I live who breeds PBR bulls. The bulls owners make insane amounts of money! Fun sport, not for the faint of heart!
@Chuey's Mama Don't think you would get either of us to try that, it's mental!! Errm, we seem to have some difference of opinions on how the bulls are treated. If you can shed any light on this as you know a guy who breeds them. We as you can imagine have no idea what is correct. Cheers for now
@@BritPopsReact Yeah, I kinda knew I'd jack up the sensitive types. The bulls are very well cared for, these are not delicate fragile creatures. The ropes agitate them, NOT torture them. If that were the case the S.P.C.A, PETA, and all those folks would have shut it down long ago. You saw all the big name advertising, NONE of those companies would want to represent a cruel sport. This is not the same as Spanish bull fighting, which is disgusting. The bulls are bred for size and bucking. The guys in the arena they referred to as "bull fighters" are what used to be called "rodeo clowns", their job is to protect the rider by distracting the bull. The ranches are inspected, the arenas have veterinarians on hand, it LOOKS gnarly for the bull but these are 2000+ animals that make MILLIONS of dollars for the owner. Why would they want the money maker hurt? There it is. I am not an expert, I don't have anything at stake either way, truth is truth though and truth gets twisted when you involve snowflakes! Bless their hearts.
@@m.a.sperry3424 Hey, look, I didn't say I do this, I didn't say it is GREAT, I'm just saying for the owners the bulls make large sums of money and they take care of the animals. I again get how triggered you are, but I'm not your enemy. I can't answer for anyone but me. You go ahead and keep shitting on me if it makes you feel better, I can take it with a smile.

Wow, looks like a lot of these viewers aren't the most knowledgeable sort about bull riding. The bulls are treated exceptionally well and are not in any pain whatsoever. Look it up (although that would require actual reading).
@@chueysmama2622 I see that you are a regular commenter on this channel. Does that give you license to be dismissive and disdainful of others opinions and conclusions about this "sport"? I did research it and, though no one in the comments addressed it, the explanation is glossed over. It's really only one small element of this subject. My issue is using animals, in any way, for the amusement and entertainment of humans. The flank strap, even if it's not tied around the bull's testicles", it's there to make the bull kick it's hind legs more. How very sporting and amusing. Tell me they're never prodded to make them more angry and fearful. Kind of like race horses are never doped.
@@m.a.sperry3424 I know you are incredibly triggered and you know I have my opinion which is different from yours. I am not going to argue and try to change your opinion, age has taught me we can't change each other. Yes I am a regular on this channel, I enjoy these 2 Brits, and I give my opinion asked for or not. I am glad you are enjoying the channel too, and are strongly opinionated too! This is such a touchy subject, and you and I will never agree on it. I live in the rural south of the USA, I am surrounded by farms and ranches. Before moving here I was from a big city, with no clue of the farm life, and like you was passionate about what I thought was "wrong" with the way people treated animals in this world. I now feel very different. I do understand how you are feeling and I can appreciate your anger.
Sorry chaps, but this needs to be banned. The bulls buck because they are in agony from devices called bucking straps. That is what they are trying to get rid of - they probably don't even notice the rider. Bulls frequently buck so hard that they break legs or even their backs. This is why there is a score for the bull as well as the rider. A bull in greater agony will buck harder and that is seen as a point in the rider's favour. Hence the score.
I have just read your comment and admit I never knew the animal was in pain. I feel so bad now, and fully agree with you about banning this sport. I just thought the bull didn’t like a rider on its back so tied to buck him off, and the rider was the one taking all the risks. I hate the thought of any animal being in pain and to be in pain for entertainment is deplorable. Thank you for your comment xxx
Just saw your post and I'm glad someone else recognizes the cruelty aspect of using animals for sport. They still fight dogs in the US even though it's banned.
@CLester What is your source for this insight? Do you have first-hand knowledge of this? One thing I know is what I see at 5:20 of the video. I can SEE how tight the strap is. I didn't say it was tied TO the testicles(almost a moot point),but I can see where it's positioned. "The bulls are bred to buck"-oh, well, that makes it so much better. Why is there a need for the strap then?
Another strictly American pastime, (see lawnmower racing). Do you know how they make the bulls buck like that? They tie a cinch around the bull's testicles. Not to put a damper on your video-I know you're just showing a bit of Americana, but I have a problem with any activity that uses animals for entertainment, eg: bullfighting, animals in a circus, even horseracing or greyhound racing. Some may call me a bleeding heart or a killjoy. Sobeit. There I go being cranky again😒
Hey, the bulls actually are treated very well. Before you judge go to a bull ranch and see. I used to get crazy pissed (I am a Greenpeace soul, with a PETA heart), until I learned the ropes are NOWHERE near as tight as you think. The bulls are themselves worth MILLIONS of dollars and cowboy's are actually very good to their stock. There is a PBR bull ranch near me and those dudes love their animals very much. Bulls just aren't super cuddly back! Hope this helps you. From one bleeding heart to another. Peace, love, and kindness to all!
@@chueysmama2622 And the bulls in Spain queue up to have darts stuck in them and a sword pushed through their spinal cord. The band is exactly as tight as is needed to drive the bull crazy with agony. You may not have noticed that it was perfectly docile until the band was tightened and it charged into the ring. Now kindly stop talking garbage. This is a cruel sport.
The bulls are treated very well and the owners get hundreds of thousands of usd to breed the winners.

The first ride when Cody was dismounting His spur got caught in his rope and it pulled his leg back under and the bull snapped it when he stepped on it.
Cody Nance was tragic because he delivered one hell of a ride then broke his leg on impact with the ground knocking him out of the competition.
Basically, when the first cowboy made his ride he tried to jump off. Unfortunately he landed badly and either tore ligaments or pulled a hamstring.

It is the same thing but with little kids riding sheep and very fun to watch. 😀11:47 Top riders make big money. On average, you would probably be stunned how little a bull rider makes.
Sorry guys, I stopped early. I agree, they're brave. I wouldn't want a burly cowboy on my back 😁
I lived in Texas several years. I never wanted to see it live. 'End Cut Prime Rib' was close enough for me * 😋
Irish Hurling is intense enough for my sporting _tastes._
My Mum used to offer to 'kiss it better' when I hurt myself. But I don't think she'd offer the first guy 😉
* Yes, I understand that those rodeo bulls don't become meat for humans.
I don't have a _steak_ in the PBR. Nor do I have a _beef_ with any bulls. It was a COWardly attempt at humour 😃
@G Bulmer
That's totally OK, it's not for everyone and that's exactly what we are doing with the Sport reactions, finding new and otherwise unknow sports to us.
The most astonishing fact about Irish Hurling is the players are *AMATEURS!*
Here's a short 'Rules' video covering how the game works (720p video) (just watch until 2m7s):
- 'The Rules of Hurling - EXPLAINED!' [2015] (4m0s) ruclips.net/video/biFcgUB98ns/видео.html
Starts with facts, then snippets of game play for all 'does' and summarises don'ts. Game play is covered by 2m7s. You could stop then 🤔 After 2m7s, it's 'dry'; covering restarting play, fouls, and penalties. List of Fouls at 2m43s. Penalty rules have changed (no defenders).
This is the most popular introduction to the game and rules (poor, 360p video):
- 'Hurling - The Fastest Game on Grass' [2009] (5m21s) ruclips.net/video/TmzivRetelE/видео.html
There's an error (players can run 4 steps holding the ball).
After either video, you could watch a game and get it 🤔😃
You might enjoy watching 5½ minutes of a _real_ game, for example this Epic:
- '2018 All-Ireland SHC Semi-Final: Cork v Limerick' ruclips.net/video/NuT3jBl8-TE/видео.html
(from 3m12s to 8m43s, game clock to 5m21s ) Five points are scored in 5m21s
It amazing. They cover ground at breakneck speed.
Or, you might like to watch a short video concentrating on game play and skills:
- 'The Magic of Hurling II HD' [2019] (3m41) ruclips.net/video/I1Vw66Zs0dQ/видео.html
High quality video (1080p) showing players' speed, and highlighting skills in slow-mo.
The most important 'rule' is *There are NO Offside Rules.*
I've tried to post a link in a reply but it isn't saved, so I emailed lockdownbrits ,,,

Happy New Year to you and your families. 🎆🎇
They win thousand dollars per win but at the one finals the world champ gets a whopping 1 million I’m a bull riding fan and also a bull rider but I sure am glad I ain’t got in a wreck yet so I guess I’m lucky btw love the videos and keep up the good work🤠
Yes, 22 riders have been killed since 1994
hello my friendss, you have been so kind to me.
Top riders can make millions over the course of a career in winnings and endorsements. Plus, they get fancy belt buckles to wear!
They have it for kids to but they ride sheep it's called Mutton busting you should check it out
These guys wear a Kevlar vest to help from getting a horn put through them or causing more damage when the ball steps on their chest or back a lot of them will wear the helmets to protect their head and face but a lot of guys don’t either
Fairly certain that first guy had his legged stomped by the bull
Ok, so as a natural blond, B1's roots are showing today! PBR on horses.... LMAO. This was a good introduction, somewhat mild as far as injuries and craziness! Please do more of these, there is a guy very near where I live who breeds PBR bulls. The bulls owners make insane amounts of money! Fun sport, not for the faint of heart!
@Chuey's Mama
Don't think you would get either of us to try that, it's mental!!
@@chueysmama2622 So the money supercedes everything else? Funny how everyone can turn a blind eye when large sums of money are involved.
@@chueysmama2622 Please don't keep saying that I'm "triggered", any more than you saying that I'm shitting on you sounds like you playing the victim.
We snowflakes(liberals?)seem to trigger you but thanks for being the bigger person.
I like watching the clowns more than anything
Because the people in the UK are smarter than us………by a long shot !!! 😂😂
Heck yeah Bullriders!!!
I love bullriding. You probably have mechanical bulls in the UK. Somewhere? It's fun. I made the 8.
It's $100,000 to win an event
You have to check out the worst skateboard fails bails and head slams, its even worse than this.
Y’all should check out steer wrestling 😅!
Wow, looks like a lot of these viewers aren't the most knowledgeable sort about bull riding. The bulls are treated exceptionally well and are not in any pain whatsoever. Look it up (although that would require actual reading).
Wow. A rather condescending attitude.
What is the strap tied tightly around it's rear flanks for then?
@@m.a.sperry3424 Research it, twit!
Good God, these snowflakes are killing me! Thanks for helping spread the truth! LMAO, their pacifiers block out most of the words in the books.
@@chueysmama2622 I see that you are a regular commenter on this channel. Does that give you license to be dismissive and disdainful of others opinions and conclusions about this "sport"?
I did research it and, though no one in the comments addressed it, the explanation is
glossed over.
You don’t have Cowboys🤷🏻♂️ You need working Cowboys to ride the circuit, they learn on the ranch!
Next time you meet a guy with an accent.... show a little respect he might be 1 of these people
Those Bulls are about 1500 lb
Some of the top riders earn can over earn a million dollars a year. If you want a true rodeo movie check out 8 seconds.
You need to react to Top Bull Riding Wrecks video.....it's way better than this one.
Americans don't need a sword, a cape, and bedazzled tights, to deal with livestock. Just sayin....
There’s nothing about this sport that’s funny, it’s an extremely dangerous sport, if not the most dangerous
@CLester I have learned. If you think the bulls are doing that from an excess of comfort you are deluded.
@CLester Next you'll be telling us the bull is having lots of fun?
@@chueysmama2622 The flank strap is not tied around the bulls testicles, it's tied around the bulls waist.
@@bigd7481 Thank you, I know and was arguing THAT point. Good looking out though!
