So for context on the pig show you all watched . As part of the school system their is a program called FFA (Future Farmers of American). Kids have the ability to care for and raise different animals and sell them at the various rodeos across the state, primarily to fund their college education.
My best friend's son won first prize down in Ausitn on a pig he raised at his high school all the way up in far North Texas. It was sad that they shut the program down during covid. I saw in person the pig he was raising at the time. Big feller. lol
@@scotttretten8020 All these kids are part of FFA. My best friend is an Ag teacher and we don’t see her at all during stock show season because she’s too busy driving her FFA students and their animals all over Texas from our own local stock show to San Antonio, Austin, and Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. The only time I really ever see our kids wear their FFA “uniforms”/jackets is if they’re doing presentations or going to competitions, usually not in the ring directly working with their animals. Normally they’re in jeans and button-downs for that - at least that’s how it is here in South Texas.
as a born and raised Texan i love these vids of foreigners visiting and seeing their excitement and the only conclusion i can reach is the rest of the world must be pretty dull 😁
I agree. All seems so normal to me. I took an ex from California to the San Antonio rodeo and she lost her mind. First she ate before because she didn’t know there would be food . Then she thought the mutton riding was the cutest thing in the world. But bull riding was inhumane and then was shocked she enjoyed the country music.
Ohhh! That looked like so much fun! I've never seen a rodeo show in my life. They like to do BIG things in Texas. I trip out on their cowboy accents. Lol! Bet you were tired at the end of the day. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. 🤠🐎🇺🇸 Btw, I have tried a Coors beer before. I liked it! 😄
I’ve only been to one rodeo in my life when I was about 5 years old at the Jackson,MS coliseum about 1975…the one thing I remember about it was Olivia Newton John being driven out into the middle in a convertible and she sang a few songs….my first childhood crush 😊
Just seeing the inside of the stadium this makes me happy I have not been to a rodeo since I was very young brings back memories hope you guys had fun!
That's so cool that you're pet sitting. I've been doing that full time in Australia since last May. I head back to the states in May to visit home and I'll be doing a sit in Philly. It's a great way to cover housing and have some cool pets to hang with. Glad you enjoyed the rodeo. Hope you had some cotton candy🙂

Every time I pass a Whataburger I say "howz yer whatachicken?" in memory of Luke Perry as Lane Frost in the movie 8 Seconds. Usually out loud. Sometimes in my head.
I’ve had arguments with people on how to pronounce it. But if you look at the sign, it’s all one word. It’s really NOT What A Burger. It all one word. Btw, I’ve been here 47 years. The store here was doing so much business they had to start building a bigger place to handle all the customers. They closed down the old one. Whataburger! 😄
if you are familiar with australian burger rings or chicken salt, you will appreciate just what whataburgers taste like. and their fries and onion rings. i think that those are the most like what they serve. :)
I worked at the largest country bar in the United States of America and while I can tell you that everyone thought it was the Bull Riders that all the ladies wanted, Bronk Riders took home 3 to 12 ladies per night. It was Ridiculous
The American Rodeo! Scottish, Irish, German immigrants along with long-time Anglo-ethic Americans moved out into the central plains of North America. There they met Spanish-Mexican vaqueros. Mix in the inspiration from some of the world’s best horse people -the Kiowa and Comanche - mix it all up and you get … the American rodeo! Proud to be an American!
training for rodeo starts as a kid,,raised on a ranch,,,,handling animals,,,feeding, medicating, hauling, raising, selling, and petting. Small kids at 4yr old start riding sheep then ponies and calves,,,trained or not. When they want, 4yr old if they want, to start the rodeo. Ropers and bull or bronc riders in their late teens. Some wind up career cowboys working ranches, some go on the road permanently with campers and trucks to do rodeos in many states. Final rodeo of the year is in calgary canada. Prior to that is a national rodeo in america,,,i forget where, but as crops mature and that cycle of nature moves from south to north in the year, so do the rodeos,,,ending in canada thanks for your fun video
I just happened to come across this video and it was fun to watch. I ranched and cowboy'd in Colorado for several years and was in and attended lots of rodeos. The Bronc and Bull riding doesn't necessarily take years of practice so much as just great balance and natural skill. The roping (lasso) events do take years of practice though. Glad you enjoyed!
A great reaction video. I've been to many rodeos, and was disappointed that my favorite events weren't in this reaction, e.g., team ropin', mutton bustin', and my absolute favorite, barrel races. I don't know if "Beer For Breakfast" didn't have the chance to see these events at this rodeo, but if they didn't, they haven't experienced a "proper" rodeo.
Ask questions!! Anyone there would have been more than happy to tell you about anything you were curious about. They are very friendly, esp to newcomers, proud of what they do, and put a ton of effort into it!

Y’all should have found someone and explained that this was your first time at a rodeo, and asked them if they would mind explaining things to you if you had any questions. If I had been there, I would have been delighted to help you understand what you were watching.
the food at those shindigs is all taste and zero nutrition but it damn sure is tasty. i'm from L.A. but spent 3 months in texas and though i don't do rodeos i've been to many thousands of those kinds of fairs in my time and yeah even the most hardcore vegan health food freak would have to be at least tempted. also you have interesting accents. sometimes you sound english, sometimes australian sometimes american. it's unique.

Should visit the Houston Rodeo which starts at the end of February all the way til the mid of Marchand is supposed to be the largest rodeo in Texas
The Awe expressions, wide eyed, jaw dropped reactions were great. Well done, glad you liked it.

You guys haven't seen a rodea until you got the Houston Livestock show and Rodeo. The largest rodeo in the world
Some of us grew up doing this and had rodeo teams in high school.
My high school (Cy Fair HS) had a rodeo arena.

The pig race had me crying they’re so cute 😭❤️🩹
At the end of their run, there’s Oreo cookies waiting for them. Or that’s what it use to be. May have changed by now.
