At one time early in my life I was in charge of a Silent Drill Team. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life and walking the line with them was an honor as well as a trust value that stayed with me for many years. I love watching this and recalling some of the maneuvers.
It's there to highlight their discipline. Even in Basic we are instructed to never break formation/commands. If something gets dropped, your cover comes off the presiding Drill Instructor will correct it/you. You do not move.
Awesome reaction as always, guys. I've watched quite a few of these performances during my life and every one is impressive. My Dad was in the Marines in WWII and would tell me stories about when he watched them train at the Marine base. He said there would be about 6 of them walking in a straight line. The last 5 soldiers would toss their rifles over the head of he soldier in front of them so they would catch it. And the soldier at the very front would throw his rifle in the air backwards end over end and the last guy in the line would catch it. I got to see that sequence televised once. It was amazing. Thanks for the reaction.- Hawk
I used to live near the Marine Barracks in Washington, DC. There was a schoolyard there where we would occasionally see them practicing. They have many other routines. Some of them need a hard surface for the precision tapping of their weapons on the ground. It was always fascinating.
So glad you reacted to the silent drill team. I've been requesting it for a while. That being said, y'all know how patriotic we are and how we feel about our armed services. I am appalled and disgusted that they allowed the teams out onto the field before the drill team finished their performance. I've worked Division 1 football as a certified athletic trainer and know that if the game is on TV you have to time it you have TV timeouts for commercials and then when you come back from halftime they want to kick to go at a certain time. That being said they know exactly how long that routine is and they could have bumped it. It wasn't more than just a few minutes. They, the nfl, completely dumped on the flag and our armed services. My dad who was in the military for 28 years and retired as a naval Commander would be speechless. He'd never watch those two football teams ever again. To him and to me what they did was blasphemy. Yes it's a strong word but I feel very strongly about it. Loved your reaction
I've seen the silent drill platoon and drum & bugle corps perform several times. US Marine veteran here, from 1977 to 1983. Semper Fi! I still perform military funeral services with the same M1 rifle they are using. Wearing the white gloves makes it even more difficult to handle the polished wooden rifles.
I think the football players should have had more respect for the Marines. Outstanding display from them, the game could have waited for them to get through though.. in my opinion 🇺🇸
@@lisademoss9308 As a veteran I could give a shit less. Lip service means nothing when people who consistently try to ruin our country are voted back into the various branches of govt. "I respect the troops" *votes for people who try to cancel veterans programs constantly*
As a Marine, I always considered these guys clowns. They're like show ponies.... just as useless as cheerleaders and not nearly as much fun to look at. It isn't a hat. its a cover.

The hat is part of the show. I've seen it 100 times or more. It's impressive every time. Merry Christmas Guys!!

The practice and skill this takes is just amazing.
Very impressive.
The hat is "no man left behind".
As a 64 year old Marine retired after 21 years , I can still do this

The Air Force silent drill team routine is the most daring and dangerous.
There's a video on RUclips of the drill team in a gymnasium. The sound of the shoes and rifles hitting the floor all at the same time is amazing.
...and team work. Your fellow Marine always has your back. Never leaving anyone behind
BP1, BP2, thank you for showing respect for some of our Marines. 🇺🇸 ❤ 🇬🇧

Hat off is part of it ! Intentional!
My Father was a Proud U.S Marine 🇺🇸✨⭐️
That is hours and hours of practice! The cover (hat) is part of the routine! You never stop what you are doing to recover!

Always spectacular in person and always gives me goose bumps! And who has a better uniform?

Super cool!
I remember these drills well! Semper Fi!
And not a gunny in sight!
When the Cpl put the cover back on the Marines, he committed a no no by breaking the ranks. However, unless you were military, you wouldn’t know.
And look at the ranks of those young men.
Merry Christmas 🎄
Very good.
Agreed

I thought the very same thing having a family of Veterans. ❤🇺🇸♥️

@@hobblobber3914 OK TROLL
@@hobblobber3914agreed. Look at the author of the bills designed to take veterans benefits. It's always the guys wearing flag hats and underwear...
Razzle dazzle.
That's the fact, Jack!
I was on the drill team while in boot camp for the USN.
Edit. Ours weren't silent. We use the 1903 Springfield with bayonet.
I think the people players, media etc... That took the field before the Drill Team left the field was very disrespectful.
Maybe look at videos regarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier! Very moving...
Merry Christmas 🎄
watch the navy drill team in oslo ... its the best .
By the way, Marines don't call the hats. Your Drill Sargent will quickly remind you, women wear hats. It's you cover, in Navy, and Marine language.
Former Marine here, re the cover being put back on... I thought we could never break formation?
Clicking noises...like a cadence count.
You should check out the Air Force Drill Platoon Ala🎉also.
Could the teams not stay on the sidelines for just a few minutes while our Marines left the field.
Well, done Marines!

Cover, not “ hat”.!
Merry Christmas 🎄
So do they bust this out in the middle of the battlefield? Imagine if they put all that time into something useful and constructive.
