- Input lag on a PS5 console can be frustrating, especially when playing fast-paced games. Input lag is the delay between pressing a button on your controller and seeing the corresponding action on the screen. Here are some tips to reduce and fix input lag on your PS5:
Use a Wired Connection:
Wired connections are generally more stable and have less input lag compared to Wi-Fi. Connect your PS5 directly to your router using an Ethernet cable for a more stable online gaming experience.
Enable Game Mode on Your TV:
Many modern TVs have a Game Mode or Low-Latency mode. Enabling this mode reduces post-processing effects that can cause input lag. Check your TV's settings and turn on Game Mode if available.
Update Your TV Firmware:
Make sure your TV's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, manufacturers release updates that improve input lag performance.
Reduce Display Resolution and Graphics Settings:
In some games, you can reduce the display resolution or graphics settings to reduce input lag. Lowering the resolution and disabling certain graphics options can reduce the workload on your PS5, resulting in less lag. Keep in mind that this may affect the game's visual quality.
Enable 120Hz Mode:
If your TV supports a 120Hz refresh rate, make sure it's enabled on both your TV and your PS5. This can provide a smoother gaming experience with reduced input lag.
Disable V-Sync:
In some games, turning off V-Sync (Vertical Sync) can reduce input lag. However, this may also cause screen tearing, so experiment to see which option provides the best experience for your game.
Use a Gaming Monitor:
Gaming monitors often have lower input lag compared to standard TVs. If input lag is a major concern for you, consider using a gaming monitor with a fast response time.
Close Background Applications:
Make sure there are no background applications or downloads running on your PS5 while gaming. These can use system resources and cause input lag.
Optimize Your Network:
Ensure a stable internet connection to minimize input lag in online games. Use a wired Ethernet connection, close background applications that may be using bandwidth, and consider upgrading your internet plan if it's too slow.
Enable HDMI Device Link:
Check your TV and PS5 settings for HDMI Device Link (HDMI-CEC) and enable it. This can help with automatic input switching and overall compatibility.

I just got a ps5 slim for Christmas I’ve done everything to try and fix the minor lags but it dosent stop it’s about every 10 seconds
If anyone can help pls let me know
@@echo6549it might be the TV you are playing on
@@echo6549same for me 😢
if your router or anything that connects to ur ps5 move it away from the play station
@@Darrin13 how do you do that
FYI for most people it is not the monitor nor its settings causing input lag so that is not the problem that most everyone is having with the controller input lag.
For most it is wireless signal interference from their router specifically their 5G wifi band which a lot of them by default broadcast on the 80 Mhz frequency band I changed mine down to 40 Mhz and changed the channel to 48 and the controller lag stopped instantly.
Alternatively it can also be caused by the router broadcasting the 2G wifi band in the 20/40 Mhz range which should be set to 20 MHz and set to channel 6.
Doing that will solve the input lag on most of the PS5 controllers at least it did for me.
The most effective way is to plug in your controller via usb and turn off Bluetooth on the controller.
How do you change the, default broadcast??
@@TK_GHOSTDA1 you will have to log into your router's UI and go to each Wi-Fi setting and change the broadcast frequency without knowing who makes your modem or what model it is I can't tell you much more than that.
@@Brad.Wquick question, how do you know all of this? In a genuine straight up way I’m just curious how one knows this type of stuff
@@GMvexed its along my line of work plus mostly trial and error.
Stayin at my parents, couldn’t bring my monitor but they have a 70” tv and it was just all sorts of slow lmao THANK YOU 👍
This didn’t help me because my tv can’t do this
Turning off all audio setting & voice recording / Microphone setting can help stop input lags be sure that those setting off also anti-virus can cause the setting to go ON beware! This gos for PC & Console!
antivirus on console??🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It was my picture quality on my TV, if you’re having this issue go into your TV settings and change it to game. When I play on graphics for cinema it creates delay.
My monitor don’t support it 😭
Thanks, my delay was from not being in game mode 👍
I did all this and it’s still slow when I’m trying to aim and shoot someone in Fortnite. Should I just get a new one? 😢
It’s false, in order to turn on ALLM you need to turn on VRR which VRR gives you crazy controller input delay(so that’s why you having a hard time probably snap to your targets) it’s honestly bs
Iam having the same problem now did u have to buy a new one?
I recommend ya use Resolution Mode on p s five I tried resolution mode It reduce my Lag by a lot Performance mode I tried it It increased to my Lag by a hundred and 2 hundred The resolution mode Reduced my lag By forty And fifty
Hi does it matter if you use usb A to usb c for the cable method or usb c to usb c is any better then the otber
Thanks man, I fix my delay 👏🏾💯

Oh ts helped alot appreciate it I was scared for a bit😂😂
What if your tv doesn’t support it
For me its was tge display make the prob i change it from HD to standard
My brand new ps5 is so delayed on every game does anybody know how to fix
I solved my problem by putting tv into game mode
Nice thanks
I axcully had a problem with this and when i saw it i emedeatly went to turn it on and started fortnite and it was sooooooooooooooooo much better
Thank f***. Thank you so much. I feel dumb for not doing this before
I was playing eldin ring and on multiple controllers. My character would walk by itself, .and my camera would turn by itself. Then any input is non responsive for about 3-5 seconds.
I think you’ll just have to change your controller deadzones to fix that. Especially since it’s with every controller
@2MuchQuenton crazy thing is it was the first and only time it happened. I'm starting to record for youtube. I started wukong and I haven't had the issue repeat since.
