- Drive through Southern Coast of South Africa. A perfect Garden Route road trip along coastal line of South Africa. This South Africa travel series covers the key destinations starting from Johannesburg to Cape Town.
South Africa also follow left hand driving, so driving was quite easy. The road following the coast line is extremely good and people in general drive safe and slow inside the towns and colonies. Our Indian driving license was good enough to rent a car from Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. We dropped it in Cape town before taking the flight from there. But yes, just to be little more relaxed we did purchase insurance for any damage to the car.

Hi Savvy! Can we drive in SA with Indian Driving license?
Did you people used Google Maps? And was it a one way trip? From Bom-Jnb? That you’ve got all the hotels? Or on spot uh need to rent them?
Yes we used google maps throughout the trip..!
BOM-JNB - Flight
JNB-Port Elizabeth - Flight
Port Elizabeth - Cape Town - Road Trip
Cape Town - BOM - Flight
All accommodations done via airbnb & Booking.com
@@SavvyFernweh I seriously doubt about the car renting facility there! I mean it’s so wow that ur getting a feeling of ur own trip without any guide beside! And btw where you people only encircled to the spots or had freedom to go anywhere in South Africa? I mean some agency handled ur trip?
Car renting is very easy, we did through rentalcars.com ! Plenty of options are available at airport.. and you can rent at one airport and drop at another, that’s what we did .. we rented from Port Elizabeth & Dropped at Cape Town.
No travel agency involved.. we planned our own itinerary and travelled as per our choices. All our travels are like that only.
i dont have international driving liscence , do police ask for that during check points/ pull over ?
Indian driving license.in English is acceptable

Is indian driving license enough for driving in South Africa?
yes.. Indian Driving license in English will work there.. no need to get the copy of international driving license. .. this is for tourists visiting for short time.
What was the budget of total trip?
soon I am launching travel guide series for my past trips.. u will get it there.. but roughly saying for the trip is around 2.5Lacs for couple for 10 days including Flights, Accommodations, Kruger National Park Safari & Stay, Car Rental & Drive from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town, Whale watching, Shark cage diving etc etc.
u can obviously cut down lot of things & cut down the budget to 1.5 lacs.. but in that case u will miss a lot.
