Hi guys. Can i ask how do you guys do this for a living? It's amazing and want to quit my corporate job and see the world. Please can you direct me in this? Thanks.
I miss doing the Johannesburg to Cape Town drive. Leave at four in the morning. Breakfast and refill at either Kimberly or Bloemfontein at about in the morning. Then plant it to either Lainsburg or Drie Susters for lunch and fuel. Last refuel before the tunnel and into Cape Town at sunset.
I'm a Student at Stellenbosch University and live at Res, but my parents stay in George so I visit them during the holidays. I've gotta say I love the trips to and from Cape Town especially the scenery 🤩🤩🔥🏞🏞
I got goosebumps when I saw the big hills, very beautiful. I'm really excited about the next video. Can't wait to see more South African tastes from you guys!
U guys reminded me of my road trips in India. I used to work n live in Mumbai for 3 years n I did lots of road trips. Once from Mumbai, I flew to Chandigarh n then went on road trip to Shimla n Manali in Himachal Pradesh n back to Chandigarh during winter. I also did a road trip from Mumbai to Goa n return to Mumbai. There were two of my longest roadtrips from Mumbai, one to Cochin n Kovalam in Kerala covering more than 1.5K km each way, d other one to Udaipur n Jaipur in Rajasthan covering more than 1.5K km also each way. In Kerala, I had an amazing backwater overnight experience on a traditional Keralan boathouse. In Rajasthan, I stopped at one of d biggest incredible fort in India. There r many more roadtrips during those years. I can imagine u guys r having such a great time n adventure. 🙂
Yeah, the OEM speakers have a single cone, tiny magnets and they sound terrible. The bass is very muddy and there's no definition to the treble. Having said that, one of the main problems in the Jimny is that the extra narrow door does not make a great resonating chamber for the bass, so the sound is always going to be a bit flat. Get better speakers but don't spend a fortune, is my advice. I got two JVC 4" two way speakers for AU$50. The magnets in them weigh more than the entire OEM speaker including the plastic moulding. Speaking of which, the OEM speakers have a special moulding/mount because the door is too narrow to mount speakers flush in the metal door panel. I 3D printed a mount for the JVC speakers and it is working out well. Alternatives would be to mount them in the plastic door panel (I didn't want to cut holes in the door though), or get them professionally installed in which case it will be someone else's problem, just don't let them cut up the door panel. There's probably enough room to mount 6" speakers if the installer is clever about it. I'm looking forward to catching up with your travels in the Jimny
Love you guys💖💖 It so nice to see " What's Up" in your backyard. The beauty that is Johannesburg to Capetown. 😍😍 A beautiful video with a nice musical score. The stables and cottages are stunning. Harriet and I hope to make it there someday. Always, look forward to great videos from the best video editors in the business👍👍 Sending you lots of love and continued success 💖💖 from Jim and Harriet. Thanks for bringing us along. We’ve never been to South Africa. It looks vast. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Wimpy….. wow not seen one of those for a while!!! 🍻
Lovely expose of South Africa and the Jimny, showing that we're not just potholes and powercuts! Am on the verge of getting the 2023 Jumny and this has helped allay some of my concerns re: long trips and speed. (But hey, at my age now I really need slow down on the roads anyway!) Thank you and all the best in your new life down in the 'Mother City.'
Seeing this late because I am just planning to do this drive for the first time may you please advise which route you took as I would like to visit the farm house🙏🏽🙏🏽 lovely video
One notable difference between driving in SA seems to be the lack of tire carcasses. I noticed in Europe as well. In the USA we always have tire debris from our 18 wheelers on the sides of the roads. Makes pulling over challenging.
Thank you guys for the video. I intend to ride a motorcycle R1200GS next month from Joburg to cape town. Your video is informative and really fun, cant wait to do the trip. Cheers
guys thank you so much for this amazing video. this reminds me of when me and my wife did this roadtrip. wil definitely doing this drive again. stay blessed
wow the mid way place looks awesome. Banana bread mmmm Its been 10 years since I had one. wow the drive looks so nice but long drive for sure. Sea Point ayi ayi ayi you leaving the life guys .😱👍
Such a great and informative video, enjoyed it a lot ! Would like to ask what do you guys think of the jimny’s paint ? Does it get paint chip easily or did u guys wrap/coat the car ? Thanks !
Hi Guys, awesome video! Are you able to kindly share the alarm place you mentioned - where they can assist with sound proofing? Would really appreciate it*
Hi Rodney. Thanks for watching our video😃🙏🏼 The alarm was installed at Autotec in Midrand. They also mentioned to me that they can do the soundproofing there. Hope that helps 😊
Hi Rhett and Claire! thanks for sharing all your fun adventures. I was just wondering what settings on the GH5 you use for for autofocus. Been wanting to use the GH5 but I can't get autofocus right when I'm trying to vlog by myself. Any advice would be so helpful. Thank you!
Hey! We actually sold the GH5 for that reason and we now use the Sony A7Siii (best camera ever). We just could never get the autofocus to work 100% on the GH5 and apparently it’s not really fixable😭. Sorry we couldn’t help!

hi, we are planning to do a road trip and will be driving from cape town and returning the car in joburg, Would like to get your thoughts if we should get these window curtains to prevent carjacking or will it make no difference?
Hey! It can make a difference yes🙏🏻. Especially if you have all your valuables in your car and you’re going to park it over night somewhere. Also make sure you have a car alarm😊
Should call it Jimny Cricket (as its Electric green) lol, guys sorry to see you got broken into... Im sure that will be all the bad news going forward... good luck from Scotland
Thank you for watching.Car rental is not that cheap but it has become expensive all over the world since the pandemic and parts shortage. To rent a car here got a week would cost +-$250 and then the expenses for this road trip in terms of fuel was roughly $150 and that is to travel 1500 kilometres. Hope this helps:) Currently petrol is priced at R22/litre ($1.26/litre)
