They are PHENOMENAL!! It truly is incredible how little the recoil is in such a small frame. I had the one with the built in Crimson Trace green laser and it was a tack driver with 185, 200 & 230 grain projectiles.
I think the SD9 2.0 is probably one of the best US made polymer 9's in the budget realm. It's not elegant or anything, but it falls well inline for what is needed to be able to have a firearm for self defense at a price point attainable to most, especially to those who ain't really into firearms as the SD9 2.0 has a stainless steel slide that is pretty good for those who neglect their pistols by not oiling and cleaning them regularly.
The CSX should have been DA/SA. Like a reissue of the CS9 with a higher capacity magazine. The CSX doesn't bring anything to the table to make it a compelling choice over myriad other firearms. If it were DA/SA, it could have owned that market.
Crazy.... I was just now going through my records looking for a receipt to a new S&W Performance Center 7 shot 686 in .357 mag. while watching this video. Bought it brand new at my range and went to shoot a few rounds. It shot 6 of 7 rounds with one chamber not firing and causing the trigger and cylinder to seize up. Loaded it up a second time just to have it lock up again! Going to contact S&W tomorrow morning about shipping it to them for service. Sad.
Model 360 PD actually weighs less than an unloaded Glock 43x. It's about an ounce more than an unloaded LCP max, too. When you factor in the fact it spits out 357 magnum, it's definitely appealing. If you absolutely must carry it with 38 special, it's still lighter than a 642 chambered 38 special and even a Ruger LCR in 38 special. I definitely agree that the engineering and metallurgy here is outstanding.
I have a 360pd & 340pd and haven’t shot them in at least 2-3 years. I got both at the same time a few years ago using logic similar to yours and it was a terrible idea. They are absolutely brutal to shoot and you can’t even find someone who wants to buy them unless you’re willing to lose around 60% of the money spent on them. 357 out of either of those feels like shaking hands with lightning. I could have got a nice 2011 or LWRC rifle instead of those little monsters

I never discarded mine, and never will! My 4506 and 1026 rarely get fired anymore, but I had my 469's slide top milled and dovetailed and have night sights now!
I’ve carried a Shield for 8 years, and it has been one of the most reliable guns I own. Always runs even when dirty and dry. Goes bang every time I pull the trigger. Never had to replace a part. Never rusted even after 8 years of sweaty IWB everyday carry.
My csx doesn’t have any problems the trigger is around 5 pounds I get why people don’t like it because of the early issues it had the false trigger reset but my doesn’t have that issue

Everyone has an opinion and I respect that. I'm in my 70's and have been an avid shooter since I was 12. Over the years I've owned and shot may handguns and always gravitate to the 1911's. They are superb and I find my CSX a superb handgun as well. Since I am most familiar with 1911 operation, the CSX was a very fluid fit, It conceals well, the ergonomics are fantastic, and I've had no issues with the infamous trigger. I wouldn't trade it for any Glock. Just my 2 cents.
I used to be a S&W guy. One of my main carry guns is a 642 snub revolver and i have an M&P AR-15. But the last revolver i bought was a new in the box 642. It was marked down from $519 to $419. So i just had to grab it. But i quickly noticed once i got it home, 2 cylinders were out of time. Two of the cylinder notches were being peened because of this. And- the star on the cylinder had burrs on it, makings it not sit in place right. Smith did quickly send me a prepaid shipping label. All postage was paid, repairs were covered and i had it back in 2 weeks. It was in working condition but i traded it off anyway. I just lost faith in them. There is no way that gun should have made it out of the factory. And ive noticed their prices have gone up and up- but their quality has gone down down down. There is no way their air weight J frames are worth their $500+ price tags ! Honestly, i own a late 90's Rossi stainless steel model 88- 38 snub nose revolver. Its built much better than their J frames. Hell, maybe better than all of their newer revolvers ! Just pitiful !
@@filippocorti6760 Yeah, in my experience, the late model Rossi revolvers were their best. I gave $250 for the Model 88 a couple of years ago. It came with 2 holsters and 200 rounds of ammo. Without a doubt, it is built better than the new Smith J frames. I don't know how they can ask $500+ for them. Just pitiful ! Oh, yeah, same with the Taurus revolvers. Ive owned and carried several Taurus revolvers. Back in the 90's, my wife and I both mainly carried their little Model 85 38's. And some of their bigger 38's too. Just couldn't beat them for the price and quality. I could pick them up new for under $200. And $100-$125 used, in great shape. I never had any trouble with any of them. The model 85, stainless steel with 2" barrel and rubber grips was my wife's favorite carry gun.

They came with a bright blued finish, a satin nickel finish or a highly polished stainless steel. And , they had decent wood grips. Their quality was really decent and I never had one go out of time or fail to function. Their new models just don't have the same finishes or "feel" as their 90's guns. BUT-- I have to say this-- I have dealt with several gun companies over the years. The 3 times I did have issues with Taurus guns , their customer service SUCKED ! They were rude, arrogant and just unhelpful. They seem to bend over backwards to not honor their "Lifetime" guarantee. I always tell people, "I've had decent luck with most of the Taurus guns Ive owned. BUT-- if you do get one and it needs serviced or repairs, be prepared to fix it yourself or take it to a gunsmith. Taurus will not be of any help to you.".

I own 2 Smiths. One is a 6 inch 586 off their classics line. Beautiful revolver. The other is the M&P 2.0 10mm. I've heard reports of jamming issues from a variety of RUclips reviewers but the one I have has been perfect. I'm currently using it as my EDC.
I currently only have one revolver and I will simp for it all day. That revolver is the Model 19 CarryComp 3inch. Ported barrel, excellent trigger. Not a fan of the tritium sight but I'm going to replace that. They make a 586 L Comp that takes moon clips, one more bullet but it's more expensive and bulky.
I have that Smith& Wesson 460 xvr that you showed in the video, yeah I bought it for hunting off of sticks or up against the tree or off a tree branch. I get a 2-in group but that's with my hand loads!!! And I also have the Smith& Wesson 22 from back in the day. I don't even remember why it is semi-automatic and it was a target version with a bull barrel and a rail on the top. Couldn't even tell you what the model number is of that. They made them in different variations until they went to the new 22 version, and I have a m&p 556 AR-15, I've had great luck with them all
Shield EZ 380 or 9mm is the best gun on Earth at this time for my wife who can't rack very many slides. Same with me now that I am 67 years old. I like the EZ and the Beretta Tomcat. No slide racking needed. Like I said. You will be old someday and you will agree with me then.
No mention of the model 41. If you've ever shot one, you know it's among the very finest pistols ever made. And they are still making them 80 years later.
Same with the 5.7 except I’ve only put 200 through mine, and I had binding issues with the magazines first 50 rounds, but that is an easy fix. As for the CSX I love mine. It’s accurate and reliable if you are willing to put the training in with it, the trigger does suck though. But that is my EDC

I think I would agree with your point on the best currently catalogued S&W, though the best category might be expanded to include all J-frame .357s. (and I don’t even own one, that slot being occupied by my old Model 59). That said, the N-Frame 629 Classics also merit serious consideration.
I quite like my S&W 9mm M&P 2.0… My “worst” S&W (that I own) is probably the Shield 2.0 in 9mm, and that’s just because it’s a small single stack in my man hands.
I know your bias towards carry and defense, but I gotta say that I think the best gun is absolutely clear, even including the 586/686: the 41. It’s absolutely superb and has been the premier American target pistol for 60 years.
@@SpicyRok7482 No, it's a micro 1911 style gun like the Kimber Micro 9, and that's fine. But the CSX has a bad trigger, a small flimsy safety, and an odd design to the grip with its swappable back strap and side plates combination. It just falls short of what it could have been on the details.
The 380 bodyguard with the insight laser is a dog. The gun itself has one issue that bugs me. I am left handed and every time I put the pistol in a holster the magazine ejects. I took the release button out and it isn't worn or damaged. I spread the spring for more tension but still, the dang magazine ejects. I was wearing it in an ankle holster over a riding boot one day and walking in a mini-mart the mag just dropped out on the floor. I"m surprised it hasn't dropped out on the road when riding. It my vest pocket the mag will disengage but stay in the gun. It has dropped out when I've taking it out of the vest pocket though. I've altered a few holsters but I've already lost trust in it. The laser is crap. It is hard to line up, doesn't hold point of aim day to day, the batteries are a PITA to change and then it needs to be re-sighted after battery replacement. The best S&W in non performance shop is a tie. The 1911 is decent and the model 6906 is fool proof and fail proof. I always wanted one of the 10mm S&W guns that were too powerful for the dainty little hands of the FBI but cannot find any that complies with the convoluted MA laws.
Just like what a person likes to eat, date, or whatever, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Heard some guns on the crappiest online lists that I live by and trust with my life. Equally, some of the best listed I have found sucked for me. Comfort of use is not a deal in self-defense. The strength found in fear nutrilizes the recoil pain factor so comparing a day at the range to saving your life with a gun is about as close as farts are to flowers in reality.
The S&W 5.7 is a very good gun...Not sure what you are talking about....It shoots smooth as warm butter. 5.7 ammo sucks as the price is still to high....
When it is all about S&W the only revolvers for me are the S&W-36 (J), S&W-10 (K), S&W-586 (L) and the S&W-29 (N). All S&W shooters are great. The above four wheel guns are the only shooters for me.

If we could pick discontinued models, the old 90's Sigma series are unforgivably dreadful in pretty much every way. As for best, I agree the 686 takes it. I disagree that it should be disqualified for being too good, though. You could have done a 15 minute video on why the 686 is awesome and I'd be fine with it.
Golly, when that CSX came out I liked it and think it's a good looking little gun. My local gunstore got one and showed it to me and I agree with you; it's a piece of junk. I didn't buy it. If I ever run across one for a stupid low price I'll buy it just to have it, but then again maybe I won't.
I have to agree with you but on the ones you left out for the best guns. 😅 I have the 686 plus, the 329PD, which by the way, it is a beast, for sure! I also have the M&P 2.0 in 10mm and for this one I had to change the trigger because the original sucks, in my opinion.
I really like listening to your point of view, sense of humor, and sarcasm. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with you on the CSX. I would like to complement Smith & Wesson on creating the CSX pistol. I have owned a CSX for well over a year. It replaced my M&P Shield PC. The performance has been 100%, accuracy better than the Shield, and it fits and feels better. I must say, it is unfortunate that the internet “gun experts” missed the target completely. The CSX is a conceal carry gun, and a very good one, period. To compare it to a 1911, custom, race, target, or tactical gun, which most all did, is far off base. In a self defense situation, the average guy, or maybe everybody, won’t be shooting to trigger reset, and the slightly stiff trigger, with an adrenaline rush, will never be noticed and probably an advantage for better control. Is there room for improvement? Of course, nothing is perfect. I’m not a fan of polymer frame guns. The Shield served a purpose and did it well. Once I have the chance to handle the CSX a few times, there wasn’t a doubt in my mind. Too bad the “experts” tarnished what I feel is the best, affordable CCW’s on the market.
I've had mine since January, it's my edc. With 12+1, pocket size, all metal, and the trigger reset got corrected in the later production. Great for concealed carry.

As far as the worst guns, I would have to say the 5.7 and 22 mag of the same model, I agree with the CSX and the Shield in 30 Super Carry only because there is not really any support for the round and doesn't appear to in the near future!
my m&p 9mm brand new only 7 rounds fired BROKE, look at 3:04 see the pin at the back of the frame that is where the frame cracked, s&w refused to warranty so I would place any polymer s&w products as garbage from a garbage company. FYI I also had 2 glocks break, they replaced both without question, don't have any glocks but glock is hell of a lot better company than s&w
Before I even watch, I'll bet its the scandy snubby. For underrated, Smith's 1911s are wayyy up there. That scandy two tone commander is about the sexiest gun Ive shot, I just cant bring myself tp pay for their scandium. Stuff's made of gold and aborted baby parts I swear. Worst for me might be the Shield EZ. Not a bad gun, just ugly as piss with that grip safety.

I just bought my first 686 today. The Plus model. Kinda disappointed. The finish looks like a Rossi. I almost believe it was used. I'm gonna have to learn how to polish it up I guess. Bought it online at one of the most well known stores. Had to sale one of my kids to afford it.
I bought a Performance Center 686 Plus. Trigger and cylinder seizing up on 1 of 7 chambers. Not even 14 rounds on my first outing and its already going back for repair. Very disappointed!

The M&P Shield.45 is an excellent shooter. I was amazed at the very tight groups I shot from 25' away. The recoil was less than expected.

I like your criterion. Still, the 686+, the 586 classic, 586 L Comp, 19 carry comp, the 327 TRR8, and the 627 V comp are incredibly awesome revolvers.

Was the late 90s Rossi's best era? Same for Taurus? As for S&W, maybe they became a bit like Sig, letting the customer be the beta tester.

True. I’ve got both of those comps and feel that the little bit bulkier 586 L comp is even nicer than the 19 carry comp.

There is a Walther PDP-F. My wifie has issues with slide racking as well, but this one - no issues at all.

I was very close to buying one until I saw my gun store had a used M&P 5.7 for sale. I’m thinking about the FN 5.7 now.
Mine has been perfect through ~200 rounds and is one of my most accurate handguns. I have a red dot on it and shoot suppressed.
Y’all are talking about reliability but between the 3 commenters that mentioned round count combined y’all haven’t even hit 1k rounds. How can you even attempt to deem something reliable with shooting it so little.

I think I would agree with your point on the best currently catalogued S&W, though the best category might be expanded to include all J-frame .357s. (and I don’t even own one, that slot being occupied by my old Model 59). That said, the N-Frame 629 Classics also merit serious consideration.

I actually think if Smith will fix the trigger on the CSX it will make one of their coolest guns.
I quite like my S&W 9mm M&P 2.0… My “worst” S&W (that I own) is probably the Shield 2.0 in 9mm, and that’s just because it’s a small single stack in my man hands.
I seen a good amount of videos of the M&P 2.0 10mm having lots of issues, I didn't but, i only did 180g and some 200g
I know your bias towards carry and defense, but I gotta say that I think the best gun is absolutely clear, even including the 586/686: the 41. It’s absolutely superb and has been the premier American target pistol for 60 years.

@@SpicyRok7482 No, it's a micro 1911 style gun like the Kimber Micro 9, and that's fine. But the CSX has a bad trigger, a small flimsy safety, and an odd design to the grip with its swappable back strap and side plates combination. It just falls short of what it could have been on the details.

The CSX is a remake of the Star BM 9mm.
I personally like my CSX, trigger is its worst part though. But I do also tend to like some weird guns

The 380 bodyguard with the insight laser is a dog. The gun itself has one issue that bugs me. I am left handed and every time I put the pistol in a holster the magazine ejects. I took the release button out and it isn't worn or damaged. I spread the spring for more tension but still, the dang magazine ejects. I was wearing it in an ankle holster over a riding boot one day and walking in a mini-mart the mag just dropped out on the floor. I"m surprised it hasn't dropped out on the road when riding. It my vest pocket the mag will disengage but stay in the gun. It has dropped out when I've taking it out of the vest pocket though. I've altered a few holsters but I've already lost trust in it. The laser is crap. It is hard to line up, doesn't hold point of aim day to day, the batteries are a PITA to change and then it needs to be re-sighted after battery replacement.
The best S&W in non performance shop is a tie. The 1911 is decent and the model 6906 is fool proof and fail proof. I always wanted one of the 10mm S&W guns that were too powerful for the dainty little hands of the FBI but cannot find any that complies with the convoluted MA laws.

Just like what a person likes to eat, date, or whatever, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Heard some guns on the crappiest online lists that I live by and trust with my life. Equally, some of the best listed I have found sucked for me. Comfort of use is not a deal in self-defense. The strength found in fear nutrilizes the recoil pain factor so comparing a day at the range to saving your life with a gun is about as close as farts are to flowers in reality.

The S&W 5.7 is a very good gun...Not sure what you are talking about....It shoots smooth as warm butter. 5.7 ammo sucks as the price is still to high....
When it is all about S&W the only revolvers for me are the S&W-36 (J), S&W-10 (K), S&W-586 (L) and the S&W-29 (N). All S&W shooters are great. The above four wheel guns are the only shooters for me.

If we could pick discontinued models, the old 90's Sigma series are unforgivably dreadful in pretty much every way. As for best, I agree the 686 takes it. I disagree that it should be disqualified for being too good, though. You could have done a 15 minute video on why the 686 is awesome and I'd be fine with it.

Golly, when that CSX came out I liked it and think it's a good looking little gun. My local gunstore got one and showed it to me and I agree with you; it's a piece of junk. I didn't buy it. If I ever run across one for a stupid low price I'll buy it just to have it, but then again maybe I won't.
S&W needs to bring back the 386, one of their best revolvers.

I have the 686 plus, the 329PD, which by the way, it is a beast, for sure! I also have the M&P 2.0 in 10mm and for this one I had to change the trigger because the original sucks, in my opinion.

I really like listening to your point of view, sense of humor, and sarcasm. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with you on the CSX.
I would like to complement Smith & Wesson on creating the CSX pistol. I have owned a CSX for well over a year. It replaced my M&P Shield PC. The performance has been 100%, accuracy better than the Shield, and it fits and feels better.
I must say, it is unfortunate that the internet “gun experts” missed the target completely. The CSX is a conceal carry gun, and a very good one, period. To compare it to a 1911, custom, race, target, or tactical gun, which most all did, is far off base. In a self defense situation, the average guy, or maybe everybody, won’t be shooting to trigger reset, and the slightly stiff trigger, with an adrenaline rush, will never be noticed and probably an advantage for better control.
Is there room for improvement? Of course, nothing is perfect. I’m not a fan of polymer frame guns. The Shield served a purpose and did it well. Once I have the chance to handle the CSX a few times, there wasn’t a doubt in my mind. Too bad the “experts” tarnished what I feel is the best, affordable CCW’s on the market.
I've had mine since January, it's my edc. With 12+1, pocket size, all metal, and the trigger reset got corrected in the later production. Great for concealed carry.
The CSX was meant to be Smiths counterpart to the Colt Officers model. They messed it up really bad. Should have just copied the Officers model.
THE BEST S&W IS THE GP100 AND THE LCP-1!! BEST 2 GUNS GOD EVER MADE!! THE GP100 MAKES MY PACKAGE LOOK BIGGER WHEN I CARRY IT APENDICKS, AND THE LCP CAN FIT IN MA PRISON WALLET!!

As far as the worst guns, I would have to say the 5.7 and 22 mag of the same model, I agree with the CSX and the Shield in 30 Super Carry only because there is not really any support for the round and doesn't appear to in the near future!

my m&p 9mm brand new only 7 rounds fired BROKE, look at 3:04 see the pin at the back of the frame that is where the frame cracked, s&w refused to warranty so I would place any polymer s&w products as garbage from a garbage company. FYI I also had 2 glocks break, they replaced both without question, don't have any glocks but glock is hell of a lot better company than s&w
Before I even watch, I'll bet its the scandy snubby. For underrated, Smith's 1911s are wayyy up there. That scandy two tone commander is about the sexiest gun Ive shot, I just cant bring myself tp pay for their scandium. Stuff's made of gold and aborted baby parts I swear. Worst for me might be the Shield EZ. Not a bad gun, just ugly as piss with that grip safety.

I just bought my first 686 today. The Plus model. Kinda disappointed. The finish looks like a Rossi. I almost believe it was used. I'm gonna have to learn how to polish it up I guess. Bought it online at one of the most well known stores. Had to sale one of my kids to afford it.
I bought a Performance Center 686 Plus. Trigger and cylinder seizing up on 1 of 7 chambers. Not even 14 rounds on my first outing and its already going back for repair. Very disappointed!
