Yes! I came here to suggest some kind of hanging rod or rack! They make some beautiful ones that drop down from the ceiling too, but idk if those would work with an arched ceiling... but during this past summer, I've come to love air drying rather than running a dryer 🥵

I love doing laundry because it always brings me back to the moment, hanging laundry is kinda meditative to me. You could even make a little ceremony out of it; put your phone on silent and in another room, maybe some nice music on, maybe even light a candle or something. And then just take your time and treat every piece of clothing/fabric with care and mindfulness. I know that sounds crazy, but it's just a little 10 minutes of calming down for me.

@@ericalane7220 I like doing laundry because it is like getting a whole new wardrobe. Sheets and towels make me remember the decorated room I spent so much time creating. I do a careful wash, spot removing, use a brightener an d have both liquid and dry detergent. I also air dry all shirts, anything that shrinks. It makes everything look new and everything lasts much longer. So getting everything fresh, crisp and new makes it so worthwhile.

When you showed the storage cabinets you were thinking of, it reminded me of a cabinet I have. We don't have much money to spend, so we bought a gun cabinet at the thrift store for $20. I took out the gun display parts and installed shelves to make it a book cabinet. I painted it dark green with spray paint, believe it or not, and after painting I sanded it to the wood in key spots and rubbed the whole thing down with paste wax. The wax dries to a beautiful finish and adds dimension to the color--you'd never guess I'd used spray paint. It has glass doors, which right now I've covered from the inside by taping some (thrifted) wallpaper in the frame, but I can easily remove that if I want to display things.

while you're at it, put a shut off valve there for the water. so many flood accidents happen around washers - when you're gone for a few days, always shut off the water to the washer. what could be useful and you could do it beautifully, is a "counter" along that big wall, perpendicular to the washer/dryer - but one that can lie flat against the wall when not in use, and when needed, can fold out to use for folding or perhaps additional space when you need to "line" dry fabrics. It could also serve as another space to use when entertaining. I can't wait to see the progression. Also, because it's a small laundry area, I'd install a brass "pull down" clothes bar that can be used when you're putting your clothes on hangers or that need to dry on a hanger - do it up high above that pull down "counter" I mention above. Again, it could be used to dry flowers, garlic, etc. Always looking forward to your vlogs. Hugs!

Love the floor! My two suggestions are, If you use lower cabinets I would bring the depth flush with the wall and have a stone countertop for extra space to fold clothes. You could add floating shelves above. I would consider adding a rod for hanging clothes either below the floating shelves or to the bare wall by the laundry units with a floating shelf above it. You could also DIY a tall built in cabinet that is less deep on the top half with the bottom half extended out to be flush with the wall and add a narrow countertop. Not sure if you have any stone left from the kitchen? Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

I really like the tile without the grout look. Anything that looks historical and European appeals to me, and you have a lot of that in this house. YES to a furniture piece. I have a long narrow table covered with bottles, boxes, all kinds of house cleaning items, etc. but I don't have a good configuration in my laundry room. Again, I prefer the images that look rustic vs the detailed hand painted ones you showed as examples. It's going to be beautiful. One thing as a homeowner and someone who's done many loads of laundry: have a place to sort and fold in there, maybe a drop down top similar to the wall ironing board, which likely will never get used. My personal issue with doing laundry is hauling warm laundry that gets wrinkled while being tossed into baskets to move around, and finding someplace that's good to sort and fold, which currently is my bed even though I have a laundry room (too narrow). I love great design, but always remember that function is a big part of that.

Tile work looks amazing! Fantastic job! It is gorgeous! An idea for your wall opposite the ironing board, an art piece that doubles as a folding table. When it's flush it's art and when it's down it's a legless table/shelf for folding laundry. Another idea for the wall you are placing a cabinet/wardrobe/pantry on. When looking into your laundry room from the kitchen you'll see your beautiful tall cabinet. Bring that cabinet close to your railing and have more lower closed cabinets to the left of it. Place upper closed cabinets or open shelving on the wall and underneath the shelving or upper cabinets place a wooden rod for hanging clothes that need to air dry or use for hanging things straight from the dryer. It could be mounted in the wall and into the side of your tall cabinet. Place a countertop on the lower cabinets to match what you do on top of your washer and dryer, if you are putting a countertop on them. Just ideas and I can't wait to see what you create. I know it will be beautiful.

Nice start! You should someplace to hang clothes you can't throw in the dryer or as you iron them. I'm sure you can find something cute that will fold against the wall when not in use. Just make sure that it doesn't interfere with the ironing board. Next to the railing, I'd put a folding table that you can use for decor, but open up if you need more space for folding clothes, or to hold overflow food or drinks if you have a big party upstairs.

*Drew, I would add a clothes rod on an L bracket that folds up towards the ceiling (when not in use) to fold down horizontally across the laundry room in front of the cabinets. This will give you a rod to hang clothes on hangers, as you pull them out of the dryer. Then, just grab the clothes on hangers and walk them into your closet to hang them up.*

Drew, that tile is perfection. Think about painting that old railing a rich, deep hammered bronze.

For the wall area opposite the electrical box and next to the ironing board door, you could hang a vintage clothing rack that stays flat and then pulls out to provide a rod to hang clothes that need to air-dry.

If my area and having a vintage built in ironing board, and close to kitchen on left side I can picture a few hooks with vintage aprons or something both useful and decorative. I do sew and make aprons from men's shirts. When I use Hawaiin shirts they sell fast at our tiny market as men like them for outdoor BBQ. I dont sell high prices or volume. I sell to encourage recyle and sewing skills. I started with jean bags to sell as many in our small town kept asking me where I got my bags! Right now teaching teen couple. They are really catching on fast!

For me the floors bring an old Italian esthetic, so I would do almost a creamy linen color for the walls. And I love the hutch idea, but possibly a Bixby hutch or something like it and add a personal touch to it. With a plant in between the hutch and the railing. But honestly whatever you decide to do will be gorgeous, your style is so beautiful and calming.

You could have some floating shelves to put folded laundry on, and some hooks for brooms.
You could also if you want pull the washer and dryer forward and make the countertop deeper for more folding space.😊
