Chris Stuckmann reviews Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, starring Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, Kevin R. McNally, Kaya Scodelario, Golshifteh Farahani, Stephen Graham, David Wenham, Geoffrey Rush. Directed by Joachim Rønning, Espen Sandberg.
I've got a jar of dirt! I've got a jar of dirt! I've got a jar of dirt!
But why is the rum gone?!
why is the rum gone? if that's line not in this movie. not gonna fucking spend any money for watching this movie.
And guess what's inside it
It's about time that the running "where's the rum" gag ends up being a jar of dirt
where's the thump thump?
Am I the only one who liked the first 3 parts? Like I was into the whole finale and thought it was even epic lol..might be guilty pleasure too tho
The third one is where the series went fully foul. The story got too convoluted and overly-complicated with everyone coming back from the dead and making the stakes really nonexistent.
The fourth tried to reign things back into a more compact story with less overwhelming supernatural trump cards (aka. emulating the formula of _The Curse of the Black Pearl_ ).....but it came out as "meh" all the same.
I loved the scene with the Kracken in the second one.
Moe Rahman I loved the first 2, but I remember very vividly being bored out of my fucking mind watching the 3rd one in theaters.
I'm not really sure why people say the movies got consecutively worse within the trilogy (I pretend the fourth one doesn't even exist). It didn't seem THAT convoluted and everything had a solid reason behind it so I never felt out of touch in that respect. The world building was really amazing (green flash, Calypso, brethren court, pirate kings) I will say that the third movie is chock full of new information that probably should've been split between the second and third considering those movies were shot at the same time and I can kinda see why people would get bored? But the plot was really solid, the stakes were high, the score was absolutely fantastic, the entire last act of the At Worlds End was compelling and visually stunning. I don't think people give these movies enough credit in my personal opinion. Any movie that becomes a saga or franchise, people will find reasons to shit on it because it's mainstream and most of those reasons are convoluted anyway. I'm excited how this movie fits into the mythology of the world and how the characters get out of this one, I'm keeping an open mind.
I hear you. And the most popular argument is that third movie was too complicated. wtf?
The writers screwed this movie by making Jack a drunk and a much bigger idiot than usual the entire film. It got very annoying very quick. The bank scene being the first huge example of this
I think that's just Depp actually being drunk on set...
I agree. So dissapointed after watching the trailer. Instead of making a trailer of the movie, they should have made a movie out of the trailer lol
Very true
The bank scene really is annoying
He deleted his Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides(4) movie review because he gave it a B+, but in this review he said This movie was better than 4 and gave this a C+..... sorry I just had to spill some tea.
•• Laine Maes •• I thought I was the only who noticed!
•• Laine Maes •• before this review I watched his on stranger tides review and he said he liked it, now in this review he says he didn't like the 4th, when I came back to the stranger tides review, it was deleted
Laine Maes yep
Craig K in my opinion, the third is the second best behind the first. I personally really do not like 4
Yeah I remember watching his Stranger Tides review and saying he liked it.
What am i to you....
Hector : Treasure....
Almost cry. :)
Wesley Huang it was to sad 😢
Gosh people, that line was so cheesy.
The whole movie was pretty bad tbh...
This whole movie had me going "uuuuuuuuugggggghhhhhhh.....😑😑😑😩😩😒😒"
I loved the first one and the second. But now it's getting ridiculous
Something tells me that Barbossa could've delivered something more unique to his character and it in a more memorable way.
Wesley Huang if Davy Jones can come back, he can too :)
I don't get the hate for the second and third movie and it seems that a lot of people actually really enjoyed them. I'm pretty sure that I have a lot of fun with this one!
Lukas Wuttke I know right, I absolutely love the second and third films, that's when things really got interesting! But I guess the more popular consensus is that the plot was too "complicated" and boring. Honestly I could imagine the first three films as a really great book trilogy, and that's probably the only film original franchise I have that opinion about. Hell they almost feel like they *were* based off a book trilogy.
Lukas Wuttke I only have a problem with the last third of at world's end. That ending battle was some bullshit
Lukas Wuttke the problem with the second was that it was great until the third act where it got convoluted and confusing. The third movie was so confusing that when it came to the action or emotional scenes it was just more confusing than scenes that made us feel anything. I had to watch it multiple times to even understand what was going on and the movie is still a mess. The forth was just so boring I lost interest
I was 14 when the 3rd movie came out and had no issues understanding it whatsoever. It's still my favorite of the franchise to this day.
I adore the first 3 films. I rewatched the whole trilogy very recently and tried looking at it with a more mature, critical eye, and I thoroughly enjoyed each of them. I might enjoy them more now than I did as a kid.
Nah, not feeling like seeing this one in theater, guess I'll just
*puts on sunglasses*
Pirate it.
I honestly don't even think this is worth pirating its like plundering booty and finding it full of actual shit.
Lets just pirate the fourth movie for the mermaid scenes
*Seinfeld theme plays
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!
Hoka Turki lol but this movie has great chi and it's great to see on the big screen
A message to the movie industry: don't ever let Johnny Depp go 100% Depp
Unless you want critics to bash your sequels after an acting performance masterpiece in the very first movie. lol.
It's starting to seem like they want career suicide.
😂
This was NOT Depp's fault. The writers made jack like this in the movie because he was 'down on his luck'
+Cillian Brouder
Going "100% Johnny Depp" is how he made his career. Before that, he was generic Nightmare on Elm Street/21 Jump Street/Platoon actor #956. I'll take the cowardly Ichabod Crane from Sleepy Hollow, the drug-addled Raoul Duke of Fear & Loathing and the DGAF Jack Sparrow anyday, thank you.
Personally this is the only one I liked since the first movie.
Cillian Brouder which Chris pointed out with secret window depp was still in sparrow mode in that mlvie
The first 3 had a good director, this had.......some guys
Richie 1138 hahaha yeah. Gore verbinski where you at
I can’t stress this comment enough - Gore Verbinski is a great director and brought a sense of cohesiveness to the trilogy
The original movie is the only good movie. 2 and 3 were a mess
@@nathanslay6342 I find that 1 and 2 are the best. 3 def has some issues but I think it’s an underrated trilogy. 4 and 5 are actually awful.
@@drquack1217 to each his own. In my opinion, the first one is the best, the second one is just okay, the third one is horrible, the fourth one is also horrible, and the fifth one is mediocre.
Am I the only one that didn't like jack sparrows character in the 5th?
Yeah in a way I think it felt like another actor trying to play Johnny Depp playing Jack Sparrow, like he'd sort of forgotten how to do it.
Not alone mate, he used to ad-lib and outsmart and innovate with this role. Here we see Jack Sparrow become the action figure we buy for children. *yawn*
TallishOak thought I was the only one... haha. To me Depp was trying to put the mad hatter's acting into jack sparrow. It was so weird.
Comepletely agree. Captain Jack Sparrow is not the same. It seems like he's lost his charisma he has no character. He is just a walking joke/gag, it's actually pretty sad. There needs to be a motivation/ goal for Jack imo. We need the Pirates 1 Jack back. The one that was funny and goofy but also smart cunning and charismatic. Now he's just an irrelevant drunk it was pretty sad. I didn't absolutely hate the movie just bcuz I'm a HUGEE fan of the franchise but If I wasn't I'd have already forgotten this movie
But that may be a case of fringe logic. If it feels like Johnny Depp has lost his touch, then consider that is the state of Jack's character in-universe, a has-been who lost his mojo. Jack has hit rock-bottom, so it may also how Johnny was directed to play him.
Title of movie: *Dead Men Tell No Tales* Plot of movie: *Some dead guy talking about his tale*
Savage Supernova thats why they changed the title to Salazar's Revenge here in the UK. Probably. Not just for the sake of it... I hope.
Sam McLatchie Nah, let's say in German the title would be "Fluch der Karibik: Tote Männer erzählen keine Geschichten", which is like waay too long
Mark Hughes of Forbes noted a degree of snobbery to several negative reviews of the film, pointing out the lack of criticisms about the film itself and more to do with the series as a whole and the behind the scenes drama. He noted that the film holds a lower Rotten Tomatoes score than the fourth film, and that critics "could not seriously think this latest film is significantly inferior to Stranger Tides," something he believed viewers will agree with when seeing the film, arguing that the fifth film is a huge improvement over On Stranger Tides, and that the film was a return to form for the franchise after the previous film. He highlighted the visual effects, the effective use of 3-D, which he argued was "incomparable" to anything else, the use of humour and "lighthearted feel and sense of fun, and many terrific action sequences." He also praised the cast, Depp in particular for being "so fun to watch," and named him and Bardem as the two "great performances in the picture," as well as highlighting Scodelario for being " a particular standout," and "strong presence". He noted how the film was strongest in its first and second acts, particularly the first, before becoming muddled towards the end. He too praised the visual effects, claiming them to be "among the best of the series."[
Vegeta solo I grew with that completely except for the last point.
Primal Raid
Guess what
i think these movies are my guilty pleasure movies
Clorox Bleach Nothing goes with a bad movie, better than a bottle of Clorox Bleach. 👍
Clorox Bleach not for me. they make want to drink you
I love them. Oh well.
Clorox, can you get the Shit-Stains out of my Whitey Tighties???
The first 3 are great movies, there is no point of saying they're guilty pleasures.
Now if you like the 4th abomination, sure. That's a guilty pleasure.
I honestly love the first 3
DFizzlio Me too, and I loved this one. Some scenes gave me goosebumps, others made me cry, others laugh very hard. It was pretty great imo
So in what I believe is the second movie, Tia Dalma says she gave jack his compass. Yet in pirates 5 it shows jack be giving the compass by is dying captain. Also, in pirates 5 when jack trades his compass for rum he set free captain Salazar but in the original trilogy, jack parts with the a few times and nothing happens. A few inaccuracies that don't make sense.
He previously didn’t betray compass,he borrowed it with good attention but in this one he traded it for a bottle of rum.
1st one is amazing
2nd is pretty good not bad
3rd is actually very solid IMO
4th is shit
This one was pretty good
I completely agree!
Sherhan Mahmud I completely agree too!
Sherhan Mahmud Same
Sherhan Mahmud this is the best list
Thank you! the 4th one with Penelope Cruz was fucking awful ... and I agree... the 3rd was solid ... thats the best description for it ....this 5th was pretty good to ... i like the familiar faces and i think that there was unfamiliar faces as well ....
Can't wait until Pirates 6: The Quest for Peace.
Jackson Jones No... Pirates of the Caribbean: The Last stand, Rising tides or Davy Jones revenge!
Is that the actual name?
name is jackson jones, has Ben shaprio profile picture.... lmao.
guess I'm the only one who actually enjoyed the 4th movie (minus the forced romance between christian boy and the mermaid). no shame!
Same thing here!
Christian boy was boring. But the Mermaid was hot!!
Thought the 4th was actually pretty good.
Yep, you could literally take that from the movie and the movie wouldn’t change
I liked it too. Its not my favorite, but 5 is so so much worse than 4, its actually kind of sad to see jack sparrow end up that way. I kind of wish this movie never happened to be honest.
I totally saw the C+ coming. The idea was in the back of my head. Never expected him to actually say it.
TheMarionick It deseved a B i would say, its not the best but still really enjoyable!
I like all the Pirates movies. If I had to choose, the third one is my least favorite because it doesn't have as much Davy Jones as Dead Man's Chest. Yeah sure he's in it, but he's not the main villain in AWE. Savvy?
To be honest this is what I hoped to see in the movie
1.) Dutchman and Salazar crew fight.
2.) Jar of dirt.
3.) Longer movie
4.) Another sequel to Salazar.
5.) More interaction between Salazar and Jack.
latindrummer777 agreed. a lot of missed opportunities.
This is what i wanted
I know I’m late but yes I was so hoping we would have seen the Dutchman and Salazar crew fight I feel like they could have made some underwater fight scenes happen or something to that extent it would have been very cool
I've always been a huge Pirates fan and probably always will. I enjoyed this one a lot just like the others, my only real complaint is with the humour, there's too much of it. Jack has lost that badassness, everything he does now feels like dumb luck instead of clever planning.
Toby Sweetman That’s exactly what I think
Same, I didn’t like this movie because of Jack, I liked Salazar even more
Jack’s incompetence in DMTNT is the reason why this is my least favorite POTC movie. My theory is that Angelica Teach played with his doll.
@@singalingalongaling my headcanon theory Is that Angelica cursed him trough the doll with bad luck and he got older/more addict to the alcohol.if we consider the timelines of the movies, jack In potc 5 its a middle aged man,so its reflexes/intelligence Is weakening
'Pirates of the Caribbean 5....... there was a 4th one?'
Yes, but don't bother with it - it's not worth your time.
James Lepore it's not necessarily bad akd there are some good parts, but as a whole it's entirely forgettable.
James Lepore Fuck off movie noob
Orias X Yeah, sorry I don't watch garbage film series.
Arthur Dank Edgy.
The first two Pirates movies are amazing, the third has its moments and the 4th and 5th or unfortunately forgettable.
4 is better than 5
yeah the third movie was such a tragedy, but there are some problems.
First of all, there's no action for like 2 hours and just a bunch of exposition, it feels way to long. The final battle is a really cool idea thats the best part of the movie.
Second of all, they killed the Kraken in the worst way. Like holy moly, that was so anti-climatic
Third of all, it felt like Jack Sparrow had nothing to do in the third movie except compete with that other pirate they brought back to life, the plot was much more focused on the two lovebirds (i forgot their name)
1st movie: 8/10
2nd movie: 9/10
3rd movie: 5/10
4th movie: 4/10
3rd movie: 4/10
4 I really liked
The movie really wasn't that special but the last fight and the ending made it totally worth it. The ending made me actually cry and felt like a happy ending to a part of my childhood.
So, I have seen the movie in a press screening and wasn't spoiled by any critic opinions. And I REALLY liked it. And I am a movie critic, too. This franchise-bashing is just INSANE. I really don't get it. How the hell can some critics give this movie a 0.5/5 stars?! Chris' review is okay, he is at least arguing. But when you scroll through Rotten Tomatoes, EVERYONE is like "this franchise is boring", "The movie is unnecessary", "Its always the same." etc. Just subjective garbage. I really don't get the point why for ex. Marvel and Star Wars Movies (I like them too) are so highly praised, while the Pirates franchise gets ripped apart since the second movie. They are all fun and imaginative movies and somewhat special in their setting and nautical atmosphere. Nothing is worse than in any "xy-Man" Comic-Blockbuster. Pirates Movies aren't even "guilty pleasure" like Resident Evil or Fast and Furious, etc.
Master Key Well said 👍🏻 I thought this movie was great.
It's called being bias. Movie critics opinions are as useless as dirt since movies are subjective in general. They would say "its always the same", while praising Star Wars The Force Awakens in plagiarizing the original trilogy and they don't even hide it. JJ Abrams just disguised it as "inspiration" when scene by scene moments are copied. Marvel movies are generic mediocre crap and yet because it is entertaining they praised it like its some masterpiece like The Godfather. But they hate King Arthur: The Legend of the Sword for being original and not following its source material when the Joker in The Dark Knight, that critics loved to praised, isn't even accurate to the comics.
Well I am a movie critic, too and I like critics... but critics shouldn't be like an official rating for the quality of a movie, they just should keep pushing the discussion and enthusiasm for movies as a whole. I love writing, reading and watching movie reviews and of course they are subjective, but they shouldn't be as biased and joyless as the critics for the Pirates movies are for example.
The problem with movie critics is that they don't have a standard rating system. It's just subjective praising and subjective bashing. Video game reviewers are a better critics since they actually analyze the video game part by part, the gameplay mechanics, the graphics, the story, the characters, etc. Movie reviewers are like circus clowns on criticizing a movie they just make up things they hate or like, but exclude that kind of criticism in other movies. For example, they would say a movie is original, but they won't have that criticism of originality in other movies and even overlook the originality. An action movie should be review by how the movie delivered itself as an action movie, or a drama, adventure, or a superhero movie by how they deliver themselves on their own genre.
EXACTLY. That is why our movie critics have a constant rating system: We always choose 5 disciplines which a movies wants to achieve (for ex. Story, humor, action, actors, visual style) and then we rate each discipline from a scale 0-100... the average score is how "good" we rate the movie. With this method it will get impossible to simple bash a movie like Pirates. Are you german, so you can read my review :D
There's one thing that really pisses me off about this movie.
SPOILERS!!
At the end of the movie the hero's break the trident and all the curses are lifted and because of this, Will Turner's curse is broken and he's normal again. But the thing is that in the third movie, he became the leader of the Flying Dutchman and his physical heart was in a chest because the captain of the Dutchman has to remove his heart and he gave it to Elizabeth Swan. But since every curse was lifted then how the hell is Will Turner not dead if his heart was in the chest and not inside his body?????!!!!!! As soon as the curse was lifted he should have dropped down and died, not travel all the way to see his wife once again. That's the biggest WTF moment of this entire movie.
The reason why is because
I GOT A JAR OF DIRT,I GOT A JAR OF DIRT AND GUESS WHATS INSODE IT
Oh, yeah I just noticed that now
They're not gonna knock off Orlando Bloom.
The destruction of the Trident at the end of the film broke all the curses of the sea, which meant that Will Turner is no longer bound to the Flying Dutchman. However, at the end of At World's End his heart was cut out and put into the Dead Man's Chest. Therefore, when the curse broke, he should have dropped dead. The same applies to Salazar and his crew, as it is shown they all died during the explosion of their ship. Evidently, the Trident doesn't merely break the curse, but also restores the cursed to their original form. This can also explain the appearance of Davy Jones, whose heart was not only cut out, but stabbed.
Two reviews in a row........About to be three.
I'm Stuckmannized indeed
Natsu Dragion77 Yeah I enjoy being Stuckmannized......not hard and fast but slowly and tenderly enjoy each second.
I mean to be fair everybody did actually think that very smart women where probably witches back then
yes they did
She is kind of right. Sometimes they would just kill women because of any reason, mostly old woman (old is like... thirty, maybe), and in a way it was a form of (creep) entretaining. I mean, public execution, and everyone wanted to see the witch burning, so there was a gathering. I think the husband even could call you a witch if you had an orgasm, for example. So no, they didn't believe that smart women were always witches, which also comes that women didn't have the right to talk, or to have a proper education (almost no one had) so...
Weird times back then. I like pirates anyway.
rlanch how old are you? in 16th up to 17th they taught women who are very smart and can do what many cant't are witches so then they would bind them to a heavy thing and throwed them in the sea if they would survive they where witches and be killed if not well they where not and be killed.many times they would likely die.And that easy was it to kill a women many men would accuse women of withcraft and then the women be killed.next time dont comment when you dont know something.kiddo
good copy and paste
but why is the movie offensive are you one of those who gets offended by everything.Bet you like inside out huh? bitch please why did you say they werent then ? im so confused so first you said they werent and now you say they was. Why did you even take saudi arabia into this,im not even from saudi arabia.
RLach 29 and you still play gmod
Lol its not a lie it's the truth boy
I personally hated this movie. As it removed everything I loved about this series.
I agree
I usually always echo Chris's reviews so I always look here before I decide to watch a movie. I have to say I really liked this one. I loved the opening scene and the ending. I think we can excuse Sparrow because he's a washed up version of what he was, which is what they were going for. He's become a drunk with bad luck which is explained in the movie. I thought the villain was so good. The ending was really nice. I would say watch it and decide for yourself.
I have to add though that the end credits scene was quite anti climactic. Especially after having to wait through all of the credits to see it.
But the scene where Jack has eyes painted over his eyelids and then opens his eyes in the 2nd one. Even that kind of cinematic creativity was able to make it into the franchise, but now Jack becomes a jokester, not outsmarting anyone, while antagonists show up with no character depth and are struck down like the Sith.
Barbossa was the antagonist in #1, that's the biggest piece of this puzzle. Now he's a home dawg with a good story, while #5 antagonist is a depth-free killer ghost who wants revenge but gets defeated. It's nuts when you think about how long the film was.
I honestly used to come here before decided to watch a movie ... but sometimes late last year and earlier this year and he did couple super bias reviews on some movies and I went to go see those movies and was flabbergasted at my thoughts compared to his .... now i just go ahead and see the movies that I wanted to see and come back to his reviews .... I still respect him as a reviewer but with all thing that involves opinion ... its just that ...
How was Slazar really good. He literally did nothing
Alleyah Ghanie "usually always" lol
Here in the Philippines the title goes
Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's revenge
That’s a dope ñame
People forget Johnny Depp got a Best Actor Oscar nomination for the first Pirate film.
I'm new in the RUclips world for movies reviews. I appreciate your knowledge and the witty way you give your POV without spoilers. Keep it up Chris!
Nah the second and first Pirates movies are tied for the best
We need more love for Dead Man’s Chest. Rewatch it people, it’s actually really good
"You must be a witch. Get off my boat witch!"
I absolutely died 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
i disagree to an extent... I am big fan and I was disappointed too but...how could you say you liked the ending? it was very forced and the end scene was too "happily ever after", too cheesy.
I hated the ending
Micca I kinda liked the ending. They been through so much shit..I thought they earned it lol
Adrijana Radosevic. I COMPLETLY forgot about wills son and corina lol. I was mainly focusing on will and Elizabeth sorry. but I do agree with the thought of corina becoming a pirate.
that ending for me is a "this is the last one people", and yes a litle forced :)
"Happily ever after" for everyone except Hector :(
Maybe he was talking about the post credit scene.
loved the first 3 hated the 4th
JerickHerick35 I liked 4 better than 3 but ya 2 and 1 for the win
yes! finally someone else that likes four more than 3. 3 felt way too long and everyone kept betraying each other and i just found it hard too root for anyone.
2 and 3 suck balls, honestly I prefer 4, even though it still has all the bullshit that makes the 2nd and third unbearable, but at least it's a stand alone movie unlike 2 and 3 that I have to watch back to back to understand and even then you can tell between 2 and 3 they had ZERO clue where they were going with it.
The only ones I liked (past tense) were the first one and the fourth one, with the fourth one being my favorite. One of the things that put the fourth one at the top for me was the soundtrack. I really liked some of the new things they did with it, and I especially liked the mermaids' theme.
Kevin McCallister same.
do Stanley Kubrick movies reviews
Arturo Benavides Yeah especially The Shining
and Alfred Hitchcock
Arturo Benavides Problem is something like 2001: A Space Odyssey should be reserved for an analysis rather than a review
Arturo Benavides if he gives any a bad review because he thinks they're boring, or he doesn't get the director's intent I think that would make me unsubscribe...or if he butchers Kubrick's name in the review.
Arturo Benavides I think all of Stanley Kubrick's movies should be covered in analyses videos.
R.I.P. Roger Moore
Even though my Bond is Connery.
broken_lando RIP
broken_lando yeah i became a bond fan the same month we lost Chris Cornell and Roger Moore
broken_lando Nobody does it half as good as him.
This news leave me shaken, not steered.
R.I.P
No sense of urgency and no stakes and to many jokes, but loves every mcu movie, umm OK
Mr8ofspades Basically all the MCU movies are better than this one. I mean, I'm not a huge MCU fan but common, even the humor in them is much more character driven and natural than in PotC5. And films like Winter Soldier, Avengers or Civil War actually have stakes and a good story to tell.
Mr8ofspades Pirates 1 is better than any MCU movie though.
Mr8ofspades well if that's what you think they are, I would heavily disagree though to be honest, but that's just me😊
Pirates 1 is probably the most socially realistic, intricate, well made stories that was ever in cinema. But savage killer ghosts with no depth are good antagonists now? sad.
MCU movies (most of the time) accomplishes what this movie most certaintly did not, and that was a plot that really caught the attention of the viewers and that puts the characters in a position where they have to act according to the plot/incident which further makes the viewers interested. Usually, this happens with a plot that gives the characters a sense of urgency, they have to act according to a certain scenario/incident in the present.
For an example; why is Captain America and Iron Man fighting each other in Civil War? What brings these characters to a point where they have to go against each other? Civil War would have sucked if there was no sense of urgency in the plot and if there was no real incident going on that has to be solved.
Like Chris said, there really isn't any sense of urgency in the plot, the only character that really seemed to care about getting something done according to the plot/incident of the movie is Salazar IMO, and his will to catch Jack Sparrow and then kill him.
Personally, I could have cared less about the whole star thing and getting rid of all the curses. The two driving points of the plot were Salazar's wanting to capture Sparrow, and Henry alongside that Carina (and well, the rest of the characters) solving the star thing.
YOURE SO CLOSE TO 1 MILLION!!! I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cant Wait til Pirates 20 comes out;)
Mc Beast that's original
Mc Beast this is the last part ..lel
Depends. If this movie is succesfull, they might make it a trilogy.
Pirates? Shouldn't it be Fast & Furious 32 where they fly their cars to Andromeda galaxy to find a new home?
XD
we just need gore verbinski back
Ok, but where does Paul McCartney fit in the picture?
beatlesloversprims he plays jack's uncle he meets in a jail
Ronja Alatalo bless your soul mate.
+Ronja Alatalo Uncle Jack!
I actually really enjoyed this movie. Carina and Henry are wonderful characters and I love the interactions between them. Jack is just as funny as I always find him and the "map" is really cool. I was laughing a lot during the first hour and then almost cried towards the end. My only complain is that there isn't enough Will in the movie.
I agree, because I really missed will in whole movie😔😔
Seeing that Will was going to return was what motivated me to watch the movie.
I actually love all 3 of the original Pirates movies. A lot of people say they got consecutively worse, but I actually think they were great. 4 was good too, but the first 3 were awesome.
It has been such a long time since i have seen any good reviews
I thought that this film was fantastic, it was funny, it was action packed it was touching at times. I feel people are being to harsh on this film and just need to enjoy it for what it is.
Yep! My second favorite movie after the original.
You won't like me I saw Chriss review before seeing this movie and loved it from start to finish. I watched it and couldn't understand all the bad reviews Chris made on this movie. And the comment about the "The witch" thing, I neved felt it got old I laughed everytime.
I think the expectations are just really high that's why people are being harsh.
Raidom I have to disagree with you there. I think because it's a Pirates film and people weren't looking forward to it that led people to hate on it more.
DjJokerr me too lol
Five months into 2017 and still no A+ movie :(
Rafael Montiel IMO the A+ movies I find so far are Song To Song, A Cure For Wellness and LOGAN
The closest to an A+ so far is Logan for me. But I didn't see much films in theaters unfortunately. Waiting for a couple blu-rays.
Rafael Montiel Bahubali 2 is an A+. too bad he doesn't Review foreign films
First aid He does sometimes here and there. Not too often unfortunately
***** It's so weird like don't get me wrong, an A- or 9/10 is considered a high rating and all, but it feels really underwhelming. It was a million times better than he said it was. He gave Deadpool and Civil War an A+ last year so I don't really get him. When comes to everything on movies, his thoughts are usually 90-95% accurate to mine. I guess this is the 5-10% I don't agree with 😕
Pirates of the Caribbean
1:Amazing.
2:Great!
3:Awesome!
4:ehh
5: Pretty good
But it's just my opinion
JerickHerick35 meah, but I think the up is down scene and the ending make up for it
1. fantastic
2. amazing
3. wonderful
4. decent
5. disappointing
"I mean, there wasn't something glarefully awful about this film" - put it on the DVD cover
The best movies were #2 and #3
Please rethink this
The first movie is the best. But I love the sequels.
Agreed. Sequels weren't bad, but the first one is way ahead of them.
The VGC 1 and 2 but the third suffered from taking to long until the finale. The best part of the third is the final battle thats it honestly. The Fourth was alright they tried new things with Blackbeard and that wasn't too bad.
Here is the thing. 2 &3 are the only ones connected to each other, and actually build.
1 is good as a Stand Alone. But 2/3 did so much ore of the lore and the world they were building.
4 Is meh, and 5 is probably gonna be meh,
i never really looked back on the first movie. 2 & 3 was always my favs.
Johnny Depp's best performance is Ed Wood in the movie Ed Wood (from director Tim Burton ) in my opinion.
Peter Parker And fear and loathing in Las Vegas.
Peter Parker That's probably his only good performance. I think he's a terrible actor. That's just me though.
Piccolo Black 😅 , I wanted Chris Pratt or Tom Cruise to play Nathan Drake (No Joke).
I am only a Fan of him because of Spider-Man and not because of his acting.
Peter Parker Gilbert Grape is another great one. It's been too long since he played a person not a character.
Peter Parker Chris Pratt would actually be awesome lol
It's clearly in this video that Chris didn't grew up with POTC.
dude, I just noticed you don't have your braces anymore and that shirt is awesome. thanks for saving me 2hrs. I kinda figured it wouldn't be too great and you just proved me right. thanks man. keep up the great work.
I might be in the small group who loved this movie. Loved the first 3 but the 4th was meh to me.
Rafael Ortiz I loved all of them I especially loved the mermaids scene on the 4th one 💙
FUCK YEAH! I've been waiting for this! **Watches Video** Nevermind.....
I saw it and I liked it though... It's not a particularly good film but critics are being too harsh.
They usually are!
Most of the time they just can't take a movie for what it is and instead compare it to way better films. Can't they just enjoy what they're watching?
DAMMIT i realy wanted you to review all of them!
Why didn't barboosa just shot captain Salazar with his pistol instead of sacrificing himself
Wet powder.....
@@kieriencrabtree that’s savvy
ONLY Gore Verbinski understood this universe. 4 and 5 are not Pirates of the Caribbean. They are just fan films with the same actors.
_SPOILERS POSSIBLY_
Unfortunately I skipped this review and watched the film first.
I now regret my decision, my gripe with the film was that it was so *expository*. Rarely did the film take time to *visualize* its storytelling, and when it did it would still fall victim to exposition. The characters consistently tell us everything that's going on, to the point where the film feels like an episode of Dora The Explora.
_I agree with Chris, it's a pretty standard film with some good cinematography, but it was the expository storytelling that bothered __*__me_*_ the most._
Don't let this distract you that Jinder Mahal is the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion
WTF IS HAPPENING IN 2017

Dr. Manhattan they see you, now
Dr. Manhattan I don't understand this meme. Could someone explain plz?
James Guevara Caught in a landslide... No escape from reality...
Just got back from seeing it and I loved it. Sure, there are somethings that made no sense and one scene was so unnecessary that if you took it out, the movie would barely change, but everything else was great. The old faces were a ton of fun to watch as always, I love the development they gave Barbossa, the new characters were great, particularly Carina and Salazar, the humor was well done, even if a good chunk of it relies on the gag of Carina's status, it's arguably the best looking Pirates film in terms of effects, and it felt like one huge adventure that was fun to watch and easy to follow. Speaking of that, I am insanely confused as to why some people call this movie overplotted and convoluted. I'm sorry, but even though there's only one unnecessary detour, the story is pretty linear and fast in terms of pacing, and I'd expect that from an action swashbuckler film like the entire Pirates of the Caribbean series. While I admit that I am very open minded when it comes to Pirates of the Caribbean, as I can find things to enjoy out of every film in the series including On Stranger Tides, I still found myself having a great time with this one. The original's still my favorite but this one put up a heck of a fight for that spot.
Same, a lot of people like it even thought every critic almost bashed it. I saw it twice... at IMAX!
I agree. For me, it felt like a bunch of kids in a room playing a game where each one writes a sentences, one after the other. And each kid wants to take the story in a different direction. "then they are attacked by sharks" "and then the ghosts can take the body of a person" and then"(well spoilers). Even though everything was connected, it was connected very loosely and there was too much.
"The action sequences are fine but they are too often played for humour rather than excitement"
That's actually a way of summing up the action in Spider-Man Homecoming
I just saw this film for the first time today, I actually enjoyed it but I agree with a few points, I felt like the humour was very much forced not as fluent like the first 3 movies, at times it got a bit ridiculous.
My biggest gripe with this film in particular is the continuity, as a fan of the Pirates franchise it irked me because as I watched the movie some things came up that didn't make sense for instance Jack's compass!
I seem to recall in Dead Man's Chest that the compass was opbtained through Tia Dalma when in this movie it was given to Jack by someone else.
Captain Salawanker....
This is what happens when you give a 200m budget to some young director and invest none of it into talented screen writing
1st. Amazing
2nd. Enjoyable
3rd. I actually really really like
4th. Very very average

3. The Curse Of The Black Pearl
2. At World’s End
1. Dead Man’s Chest
I do agree with some of the things you said on the video, like the fact that the characters had no urgency to do anything, but I truly believe that some people don’t like the movie because they do not quite understand some points. For example, many people ignore the fact that the witch told Captian Barbossa that she had “cursed his enemies, so he was able to rule the sea”, this meaning that he cursed Jack Sporrow. One may believe that with bad luck, because it is said many times in the movie that Jack has lost his luck. He hasn’t sailed in the pearl for a long time, his crew left him… he was just so done with everything. Many say his character changed, but that is not quite true. In previous movies, we’ve learned that Jack is TOTALLY capable of hurting, he just decides to hide that pain. Well this movie is not any different. When he traded away his compass, he was giving up on pirates life forever, he preferred being drunk to simply mute the pain for a while. Again it al depends on what people like, but I do not believe that the movies progressively got worse.. My favorite of the franchise is the third one, then the second, and then the fifth. I honestly love them all, with the exception of the fourth.
I grew up with a fucking overused and annoying joke in the comment section. Seriously. Let it die.
I grew up with people complaining about a running joke while also intentionally making it in the very same comment.
Scytale of Riviera
Not helping, you fucking kangaroo
+Scytale of Riviera What are we....some kind of "I grew up with" comment section?
No disrespect to Chris but.... his comment section always gets me smiling more than his videos.
maybe kill it by snapping a neck? :P
I'm a loyal fan of your reviews, but on this one I strongly believe that you're not seeing the beauty of this film. It was funny and I loved it. I think you went in looking for something wrong with it. Great film and I agree the 1st one is the best, but you're being unfair here. I don't comment but I like all your other vids, but I think you should rewatch the film.
Dead Man's Chest is my favorite one
MattWagnerMovies same
I loved it :) Jack should get a Father's Day gift. It wasn't Boot Strap Bill who taught Will how to sail a boat; it was Jack. When Henry saw dat ankle, it wasn't Will Turner who gave him advice about girls; it was Jack. When Carina announced she was a horologist it was Jack who said, "No shame in that" and accepted her career choice, not Barbossa. Jack has been picking up the parenting slack and he doesn't even have kids.
"I'm not a witch! I'm not a witch!"
"But you're dressed as one."
"They dressed me up like this."
WHAT.WAS.WRONG.WITH.PIRATES.2.AND.3....I.DONT.UNDERSTAND
The plot got a bit messy. Some of the characters were underdeveloped. Pacing issues. They aren't horrible movies, but they just have problems that the first Pirates didn't have. I think this is why people hate on them so much.
Stakes became too low. Everyone could be resurrected and the supernatural mumbo-jumbo started to feel like "we make the rules as we go to get us out of any situation we see fit." Especially the third one. The second one is actually decent except that it's tied to the third so heavily.
Fourth tried to reign it back in and modeled the first film....but it was underwhelmingly "meh."
+Joshcoshbagosh Because 2 and 3 had complicated plots and people got confused because they need simple movies they can understand, it seems.
There is a difference between complex/interesting and too convoluted for its own good.
People don't do research on anything,
All i care about is if jacks intro theme from the first 3 movies is in this one
Zac Burkett - It is.
How is 3 worse than 2?? I'll never understand how 3 and 2 are worse than 1? Makes no sense to me
3 has stretched out boring moments(Finding Jack, anything to do with the Pirate brotherhood), a lot of jokes were stale or don't hit, subplots that were not interesting, Kraken dies offscreen. For me the biggest is Davy Jones is extremely underutilized or an afterthought for most of the film after such a strong presence in the second film. will admit I did enjoy the climax of the film, but at that point it didn't make up for the previous moments.
SO Close TO 1,000,000!!! Been here since 90k!!!!
LOVED the first 3, hated the 4th, liked the 5th. I was pleasantly surprised with this movie, definitely a step in the right direction for the franchise. I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing more Pirates movies, especially after that post credits scene.
G e t S t u c k m a n i z e d
YOU NEVER CAN MANAZE THE STUCK!!
What the stuck, mann??
But I ran out of lube.
I suggest doing a hilariocity video on Event Horizon. That movie was soooo shit.
Good review. Kind of disappointed to hear that this wasn't all that good, at the same time I can't say I'm surprised given the history of this series.
Also as a side note, you pronounced Geoffrey Rush's name like Joffrey from Game of Thrones. It's pronounced as if you start saying Jeff.
I could watch these movie reviews all day. So concise & well done. Plus saves me time with movies I don't really want to see😂
Unpopular opinion.. I love all the pirates movies. The universe it creates and the atmosphere is just enthralling for me every single time.
First time I'm disagreeing with Stuckman's review : ( I thought it was really amazing.
Me too! I don't listen to critics anyway, I go see movies I wanna see. I liked this movie, my favorite one since the original.
Seeing this makes me feel so old😡
chris can you go back and review "school of rock" like if you want him to
Joel Morley saw school of rock today... still as good as I remembered
I remember seeing an interview with Orlando Bloom saying something like; me and Johnny are going to be doing these forever even when we're in wheel chairs.
Let that sink in...
Ahhhhh ... Back to the wonderful world of the Pirates of the Carribean. A Wonderous adventure filled with Plotholes, Retcons, Ass Pulls, Random events, terrible jokes and CGI galore.
My order for liking the movies goes 1 2 5 3 4
1 2 3 5 4 even though 3 and 5 are kind off a tie
Joffrey Rush? 😕
I saw it today, and I'd give it a B+ or an A-
Same. A- or B+ sound about right.
+DjJokerr Thank you
The Branded Alchemist me too, the beginning felt like a C but the end an A. I really liked it, in general
K. Le Animateur D
All I remember from this movie was that there was a ghost man that kept saying hombre
Dexter's little hands poking out of the bottom of the frame was too cute.

this movie seems like a disappointing waste of time
Chavis Weber see it for yourself. I liked it and compared to the last one its miles better.
WATCH THIS MOVIE! Don't listen to this guy. This movie was fantastic, and kept the energy up the whole time. It was a perfect addition to the franchise and continued the story of the first two lovers in the series. If you have to choose to watch one movie this week, make it this one. You won't regret it
Brandan Miller it was so bad...
Brandan Miller did we see the same film?
Bullshit it was the worst they got worse and worse since the third one which was also very bad Keira Knightley just showed up at the very end out of nowhere over a hill that was unbelievably ridiculous and unrealistic you have horrible taste in movies...
Notice how you didn't mention the light of the movie or the writing. The first Pirates movie has a sense of adventure and some great music, and also some great choreography. Now it's just editing and some Rube Goldberg bullshit scenes. You also connected to the characters in the first movie more.
It was the 4th best of the 5
Loved 1. Loved 2 even more. Didn't like 3 as much; still great. 4 was good.
I have the same opinion but I disliked 5
I actually totally agree with everything you said. I left the theater feeling the exact same way. Huge fan of the first 3 pirates franchise and was super stoked about this one. The pacing was terrible, no sense of urgency like you said, no Gore Verbinski directed talent that we loved in the first three. I was super disappointed with Jack Sparrow's lack of control. I felt like the first 3 he was hilarious and may have come across totally clueless but yet we all knew that he was actually very smart and had a plan ticking in the back of his head the whole time. This one, there is no plan at all. Just total silliness. No offense to Johnny Depp but I feel he may have brought in some of his Mordecai character silliness into Jack Sparrow which replaced any sense he may have had. Also, totally agree with your views of the ending. I felt like the movie finally started moving at the last 10 minutes of the show.---even though it was the shortest film in the franchise, it did feel like the longest.
