It's come to my attention that the Samsung JG50 actually does not have FreeSync. While it's still a great price, if you want Adaptive Sync we'd recommend spending a bit more to get either the Viotek GN27D or MSI Optix MAG27CQ depending on what price you can get

On Amazon USA, you can buy the Dell S2417DG YNY1D 24" 1440p 165 Hz G-Sync display for just $379! Which IMO for a 1 ms Panel WITH 2560x1440 res at 165 Hz - is a DECENT price even without G-Sync but with, it is EASILY the best price on any G-Sync equipped monitor, epsecially given the rest of the specs!
Only downside IMO: It IS a TN panel. That said IF I Had the cash, I would buy this monitor NOW! 24" is ideal for my desk and how close I sit, and that pixel density is INSANE! Only thing is - i would have to give up my IPS Acer G257HU smidpx 25" 1440p monitor, which I do have "Overclocked" to 85 Hz, which is nothing to sneeze at!
Personally, I will run this monitor UNTIL I have the ~$450 needed to buy a high refresh rate IPS 1440p monitor with G-sync, because IF I were to ever own such a monitor, it would be my main monitor for at least 5 years! I am coming up on 3 years with my Acer G257HU.

      @sudd3660 5 лет назад

i so agree on that, big screens makes no sense, better just adding second monitors for productivity or multitasking.
also big screen sizes makes the pixels bigger, i though we wanted small pixels so the picture is clearer?
1080p 22" is fine, 27 on 1440p. not sure about 2160p, 28 to 32" should look fine. leaning on 28" since 32" is just to much head movement and image also gets distorted(and color gets worse) when looking at great angles.

At least Fortnite ran 67 fps (no AA obviously), but that's Fortnite, so I should hope it does over 60 fps, and it barely did even that!
Benchmarks in about a month, I'm doing about 75 fps when RTX 2080ti is around 55 fps (Crysis 3 at 4k Ultra), however it looks like my setup isn't correct. Either I need my TR 1950x back up at 4.15 Ghz with 3600 quad channel memory, or I have some power saving feature enabled, which I think is the actual issue since I saw clock throttling with cards at 50c, my PSU is also certainly overloaded as well, LOL!

@@noenken I mean the hz frequency is a matter of view, most games run just fine at 90hz because their engine only updates 60 times (ticks) per second, CS:GO on public servers is the best example with 64tps (64 per second). Minecraft is even "worse" in this case with only 20 ticks per second, so you could play Minecraft on 20hz and you wouldn't be able to spot a real difference to 240hz in that specific title. Most Battlefield 4 Servers run at 30 ticks per second, some at 60, a few on 120 and only a very small amount at the max of 144.
For Example if you'd play Battlefield 4 on 240hz on the best server you won't get a real advantage over 144hz because even if your fps was 240 the Game "only" updates 144 times per Second.
So i think combined in value and performance 144hz Monitors will be King of the Hill for at least 2-3 more Years before 165/180hz Monitors will replace them, until you get real advantages of 240hz at least 5 years will pass by and 288hz will be out then.

I've had decent luck with my "upstar" 4k monitors (only a sample size of 3 on refurbs, but they were good).
Pros: REAL glass (you can clean nacho cheese off with your fingernails and never worry about scratching them, normal plastic film monitors scratch almost just from looking at them). Real aluminum/glass base (just nicer than the cheap flimsy plastic ones on "gaming" monitors).
Cons: No speakers, no HDMI 2.0 support (I've overclocked the HDMI 1.2 to 55 fps, but just use DP cable like most cards do). Low frequency overclocking headroom (I've only hit 66 Hz on mine, but then again my cables are pretty junk got the door slammed on a few times...). HEAVY! These things are silly heavy, something like 30 pounds! If you're going hiking and carrying monitors, then you might want the flimsy 5 pound ones, but otherwise its no issue if they just sit there.
In all, I think these are much nicer than the Asus 4k monitors my cousins have. They don't look like cheap plastic toys, and they are decently well built. You will need a behemoth for running 4k at Ultra, a single RTX 2080ti just won't cut it. I'm rocking 4x R9 Fury with Threadripper, but if you're doing low/medium settings, then you'll get good frame rates with even an RX 580. I run 3x 4k for workstation/CAD/video editing/etc, and just 1x 4k for games. I had tried using a Titan Xp collectors edition, but that was a joke for High settings! I fully recommend 1440p if you're only gaming, because it looks nice, and it doesn't take a monster to run it 60 fps (plus you get high fps and Hz for the games that can use it!). Hope this helps, cheers!

@@circleofsorrow4583 G-Sync(or Freesync) is more useful on 60Hz monitors, mainly because it's significantly easier to achieve 60FPS than 144FPS lol, but also because tearing is much less noticeable at a higher refresh rate(unless something is really wrong obv). G-Sync works best right below your monitor's refresh rate. So on a 144Hz panel, you'd want to achieve higher than 144FPS, but artificially cap your game at 142/143Hz and then turn G-Sync on. Whether or not that would actually be worth it is going to depend on the game you're playing, and your GPU.

VA panel and the HDR is at the entry end without local dimming, but in my case that worked in its favour as I wasn't really looking for HDR mainly because of the local dimming halo effect and a good VA SDR @ 3000:1 already looks awesome, this just takes that up a notch.
I was all set to order the AOC CQ32G1 31.5" 144Hz 1440p VA panel with 1ms response time for AU$499, until I looked up just what 1ms MPRT was (Flashing/strobing back lights to simulate 1ms) and rethought that, it also doesn't carry the AGON branding (potentially cheaping out on some components). Maybe Tim could look into MPRT and let us know if it's any good, if he hasn't already and I missed it. Anyway the Agon 2QC4 was just $100 more and technically has all the bells and whistles I need plus bonuses without spending $800-$1000+ (27" too small)
In my mind full HDR1000 won't be great on LCD panels because of the local dimming halo issue and until Oled fix the burn in problem or microled becomes an affordable thing, then HDR 400 as implemented on the 2QC4will suffice me to get my feet wet.

Games running at 1080p on my monitor look similar to what they did on my 1080p monitor, although it's worth noting that each manufacturer has different algorithms for interpolation and the like, so your experience may vary depending on which specific monitor you choose. You won't get any downscale blur with a 1080p image on a 4k panel. 4k is exactly 4x the resolution of 1080p, so each pixel just becomes 4 pixels. The reason some resolutions don't scale is because they aren't a multiplication of the other, for example 1440p is around 1.8x the resolution of 1080p, so each pixel at 1080p would take up slightly more than 1 pixel on a 1440p monitor but less than 2, as a result they don't scale properly and you get blur.
I probably haven't described that well, so in simple terms, 1440p on 4k will blur, 1080p on 1440p will blur, but 1080p on 4k won't blur. If this is what you want to do, it will work perfectly fine.

Hold on a minute, fake HDR? You mean, entry level HDR. Just becasue your panel cant reach 1000nits, or you dont have a full array backlight, or you have a '9 bit'?panel doesnt make the HDR fake. You still get a HDR signal through the TV, if it was fake HDR you wouldn't get any picture at all from HDR content because the TV cannot decode it. As for quality, even an entry level HDR give you an image calibrated for much higher contrast and backlight so when you put them on full the entire image doesnt get destroyed. If your tv/monitor has good native blacks regardless of a full dynamic backlight, you will still see benefits in much brighter highlights. Just my experience.

People keep hold of your money, not worth spending money now when in January all tech companies will have a reality check. In a single day 1 trillion dollars of loss for tech companies. Nvidia stock has devalued over $100. This ridiculous pricing has to be corrected.

best price performance for 1440p with g-sync and IPS panel 144 hz and 165 hz OC is the Acer Predator XB271HU. great 27 inch with amazing colors and high pixel count

All these VA panels are garbage at high refresh rates for gaming, they have all kinds of ghosting and weird sharpness problems. IPS or TN is the way to go for high refresh rate gaming. Adaptive refresh technology is not worth the price I agree but I'll gladly pay a 200$ premium for an IPS panel.

Yeah nah. I'll stick with my old ass Benq RL2445. Still outperforms a huge majority of monitors for FPS games and I think they were like $100 on black Friday.

If you want a relatively good value on a g-sync monitor, the Dell S2417dg has treated me well the past year. It regularly goes on sale for 330, which is what I got it for. Ticks a lot of boxes for competitive gaming (I play a lot of Overwatch), but is completely serviceable in AAA titles as well. The one thing is a lot of color banding in dark video but I've never seen it in game.
