Just went back to Blue Magic. Have TWO jars of it. Saw a positive difference immediately. I spent so much money over the years just to end up going back to the tried & true. But hey, when you know better, you do better!
growing up my mom used hair grease( the blue grease and the green one) pink luster. For shampoo it was vo5, sueve, mane and tail, cream of nature or what ever was on sell. I don't remember my mom deep conditioning my hair. she barely cut my ends.
I love me some blue magic ,soft and even vaseline works good as well. The natural hair community lied about hair grease . A group of chemists and scientists did a comedogenic test on hair grease and it has a comedogenic rating of zero which means it does not clog pores. I use suave leave in conditioner for natural hair and Cantu curl activator and I seal it all in with my hair grease. I grease my scalp and hair and my hair and scalp stays moisturized.
I never stopped using hair “Grease.” My hair has always thrived since I was a little girl. hair grease has always been a staple in our household. Hair grease is nothing new.
I’ve been natural for 4 years now and I live in the dessert. I tried to not use grease and just natural oils. After 3 days my hair was so dry. Now I use grease again and my hair stays moisturized for 5-6 days. My mother used pink lotion and original hair mayonnaise for our leave in and deep conditioner.
I LOVE this trip down memory lane hair regime! I told my mom, "my hair was long in my childhood pics, what happened?" She said, "y'all didn't like the straightening comb and wanted relaxers!" I totally agree that my hair was much better and she also didn't take us to a salon to get the relaxer or any other service (my first trip to a hair salon was for jr prom and i didn't even know what to ask for 😂) I've been natural since 2019 and if you don't know how to cornrow, the hairstyles will not be styling besides the fro or twist out. I'm going back to grease bc these oils are just not working after a few months
All us white gals, Johnson and Johnson did dirty too. I would get rashes on my scalp from that crappy shampoo. That stuff stripped my hair so bad it would break and shed all over. The eggs and mayo was a good idea. Works for me too. I love your nostalgia moment. You look very very beautiful.❤️ 🥰🇨🇦
I recommend an old school shampoo : Motions! They have a sulfate free shampoo, and it acts as a moisturizing / conditioning shampoo, everytime my hair feels stripped (after a detox shampoo) I use this as my second or third lather , and my hair just feels buttery soft even before using actual conditioner.
Love the reveal ❤. Thank you for sharing. I never stopped using hair “Grease.” My hair has always thrived since I was a little girl. hair grease has always been a staple in our household for generations. It’s nothing new. Shampoo we had was Prell which was just as bad as Johnson & Johnson.
Yes Mam team grease, grew up using it as well!!! I mix essential oils in my Blue Magic.. I've also used egg & mayo as a hair mask back in the day.. Johnson & Johnson was terrible...Your hair style is super cute!!!
This is interesting the only thing I used as a kid was Blue Magic. The egg and mayonnaise thing was strange. I always had conditioner. I had a leave in. I would go to Kmart or Target and I would get whatever smells. I loved African pride but I can’t find the grease anywhere.
We didn't have Kmart or Target during my childhood in NYC. Only Woolworth, and many people still use egg and mayo to this day. The earliest I remember using African Pride was in high-school.
I'm not old enough to remember Woolworth really but I went there before I think. Oh, I didn't know they didn't have it back then. When I went there a few years ago I went was shocked to see a Kmart but I think it has closed since I was last there.@@mrsgliving
@Serenityblu23: I wrapped the ends of my hair around the last bead. Also, because my braid was thick and the hole for the beads are slim, the upper beads stayed in place.
@uniqueflowers994 If I'm really going hard at the gym, I wash my hair every two weeks, and grease weekly. If I'm not unbigging my back😆, I wash my hair monthly and grease every two weeks.
It was one egg, and as I mentioned in my video my mother ONLY used egg. I wanted to incorporate mayonnaise, so I did it separately. Thanks for watching
The baby powder seems to be the only product they found with cancer causing ingredients. They claimed to remove it off the market. This is why all other products are still available for purchase.
You a G for taking that Johnson &Johnson hit

@bangieb73 I agree. My hair loves grease and I'm uncertain why we stop using it.

@@DIAMONDGIRL57 Girl me neither and I never will. The natural hair nazies and nay sayers can kick rocks.
Back in the day we used royal crown grease and luster's pink oil moisturizer for a leave in.
I still use Royal Crown hair grease and CurlMax activator
Love Queen Bergamot!

@reneedevry4361: Thank you, so Johnson & Johnson shampoo/conditioner was made for no one 😁😄😁
Thanx for the memories! Very entertaining. I still use mayo and grease since childhood.❤
You're welcome!

Thanks for the recommendation, and watching. I'll definitely try it!
Welcome back to Blue Magic! 😉💙
Back in the 80s, we had Cream Of Nature. When money was tight, VO5 got us through. ❤😁❤
@somaliagullette3230 I remember V05 and Suave, but I don't remember Cream of Nature for some reason.
Never used Johnson and Johnson, my mom was an Infusium 23 girlie
Never heard of Infusium. Let me Google it!
Love the reveal ❤. Thank you for sharing.

Interesting vidoe! We had different routine. Thank you for sharing~~~~
Looks really pretty, your hair is beautiful
I use old school products and can’t cause I’m not buying none of those celebrity lines not one.

Thanks for the memories, lol
Ultra sheen…the blue and green hair grease.
This video is stressing me out! Oh good lord.... LOL
how did you get the beads to stay on?
@Serenityblu23: I wrapped the ends of my hair around the last bead. Also, because my braid was thick and the hole for the beads are slim, the upper beads stayed in place.
lol memories
How often you Grease your scalp and wash your hair?
@uniqueflowers994 If I'm really going hard at the gym, I wash my hair every two weeks, and grease weekly. If I'm not unbigging my back😆, I wash my hair monthly and grease every two weeks.
❤
Some of the hair ingredients did change because they had some good ingredients they uses to make hair grow and hair feel moisturizer.😢
You’re supposed to combine the two. Egg and mayonnaise.
It was one egg, and as I mentioned in my video my mother ONLY used egg. I wanted to incorporate mayonnaise, so I did it separately. Thanks for watching
Mayonaise consists of egg and oil, combining doesn’t really do anything
They did not care about Black folks😂
Johnson and Johnson is ALWAYS wrong! LOL Can't stand their business practices.
Right all those cancer causing ingredients in their products.. They had several law suits .. I thought they took them off the market..
The baby powder seems to be the only product they found with cancer causing ingredients. They claimed to remove it off the market. This is why all other products are still available for purchase.
