I have been playing guitar now for 15 years, and I still am in awe of Zakk. Folks, there are many tricks that guitarist use to make themselves sound better than they really are. Distortion, flangers, phasers, delay, etc as well as the front-of-house guys. I would kill (not really kill, but you understand) to get the pinch harmonic/vibrato that Zakk has. It is such a cool accent that adds so much to a guitarist tone and overall sound. Just a killer technique, and Zakk is the Master.
Zakk was my inspiration for touching my first guitar (I was 6) and he's still my inspiration 2day. And now this song seams to be my inspiration for what I'm doing right now. Long live BLS and long live fucking METAL \m/
this song is just perfect...zakk knows how to attract you...he is a proffessional...unfortunately he left ozzy but everything is done so that the world will be better...hope so...
Zakk has much more raw power than any other guitarist I can name today. Ozzy really did him a favor by letting him go - now he can spread his wings and do it his way!
Walked out of my mind, don't wanna find, whatevers left Stoned and drunk completely gone, my world is here to stay Hide my fears and kill my doubts, whatevers in my way Killer lyrics, so true and so right. The life of an alcoholic drug addict.
I can definitely hear Zakk's southern rock influences, especially with all of his bends and chords mid-solo. Listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd and you will hear where he got it from.
Lowkey Zakk Wylde is a great guitar player..dude can shred his fingers off!!...he is underrated in my opinion, doesnt get enough recognition.... i mean he was successful wit Ozzy, and both solo and BLS is great...
This is THE recording that got me in to BLS. When I heard him sing live like this I thought "It's like Ozzy mixed with Axl Rose, but better in every way!"
and yes i am obsessed with them, i own every cd and dvd with zakk on it! hes just an all around great guy and if people dont agree, then actually spend the time to see who he really is! youll change your mind
I like black label society/fresh like black Sabbath it's no coincidence it's just fresh like sore plumes/blue n ripe for listening to decent energy.like a new generator.
I Have no clue how he gets such a clean tone its like watchin someone beat on a guitar his picking hand that is...its amazing hes got a very jackhammer style of playing
Believe it or not the guitar and soloing has been cool for awhile, at least in the metal world. You just don't hear the good bands on the radio that much anymore. A7X, Atreyu, Shadows Fall, and many more bands have made the guitar cool again in the heavy metal and rock world.
Goddamn when are these guys going on tour again! For the love of God, I saw them in Fort Wayne last year and I just cant fucking wait to see them again...
No, it was originally going to be Dimebag's but around the time it was finished Dime had already gone back to Dean so the guys at Boogie Street (the custom shop that made it) Gave it to Nick
@tian1314 I think it's just the delay effect overlapping with the actual vocals, cause it's a long note. Anyways the lyrics are a bit different from the album version, which (kind of) hints there's no lip sync.
@valerieash ya this concert was a much bigger scale tour in another country that they don't do to often so it was founded more and thus the mic equipment and sound quality is a lot better. they probably did filter it a little. yeah it can be hard to hear his lyrics live because all of his crazy amp stacks and the fact that if you don't go to many concerts than your ears cant handle the loud ass sounds and pitches but if you get really close you can hear him a little better.
@ben10sk8r No, its recorded, then the instruments and vocals are later recorded so you can actually here them really clear, and not like murdering the mics with loads of sound being shoved into them lol. Just there way of doing it I guess. I saw it in like an interview/making of sort of thing a bit ago.
@1369billy you may be correct, probably you are but one thing I can guarantee is the solo is the live one! no need to re-record it, he nailed it just fine, slightly different from the album but equally as epic!
@stendec Sorry, that's not Randy's guitar. His guitar was black with white dots. The original luthier goes by the name of Karl Sandoval, and he still makes these guitars today. Randy paid roughly $750 for his original polka dot, and I think it's on display at one of the Hard Rock Cafe's, possibly San Fransisco.
they plug in cables in and what not but you need to look at amp heads to see if the light is actually on. when it comes to guitar amps it really doesnt take a lot of power especial with tube amps to be loud. my 50 watt Laney can rock any average club\pub\bar with a lot more power in reserve. So do you really think a band would need 7 200w amp heads turned on to blast a venue? I actually have a pic of Zakk and in the background you can see 3 stacks and out of the 3 only one amp head is on...
@ZR21528 you got to remember this is a dvd, alot of filtering going on. i love zakks music but i was at his concert in LA 2 weeks ago and the voice quality was nowhere close to this, i mean i could not understand a word he was saying plus the wall of doom of marshalls did not help drowning out the vocals. Ive been trying to get my friends into bls but they always say the vocals suck at the concerts and i cant argue. and it wasnt like that for zakk in the past.
look at a 3:10. You can see that he moves away from the mic less than a second before the singing stops. He is lip syncing. Which is really strange because I've seen other live shows he's done and he sounds perfectly fine without that. But seriously, unless there's something wrong with the audio syncing of the video itself, he is lip syncing.
Okay let me correct myself. The one Nick was selling is a Dean Confederate yes but its a Razorback. I dont think the one in this video is the guitar I was talkin about so sorry for any Misinformation
Dont quote me but I think its a Dean. Cause i remember he advertised it for sale on the Zakk Wylde/Black Label Society Forums and im sure he said it was Dean Confederate He is using PRS guitars now too by the ways
@tian1314 i dont think so. theres vocal effects but not lip sync. and lots of times nick, or jd, or both sing backup on long notes just to get into the song and give it a different feel than the record. i mean its a fuckin live show they want it to be different then listening to the record. i mean sack has said it himself "were not playing the fuckin backing tracks, if you wanna listen to the cd, listen to the fuckin god damn cd"
I know I was just putting Rhoads in front because i was intending to add emphasis to the fact that its real, I know the whole story behind the guitar, and I didn't say anything about a signature guitar anywhere in the comment, and Zakk's wasnt Made by Karl Sandoval, it was made by GMW guitars.
I can tell there's an echo effect, but you still hear his unaffected voice before the echo effect, and his head away from the mic while this ocurring. Unless the echo is carrying the full volume form of his voice as well as your plain and simple echo effect, he's lip syncing. Keep in mind, I love Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society, but that doesn't mean I have to deny every time that someone is lip syncing.
Damn. . . These ol' boys are really good live. Zakk is the real deal.
I have been playing guitar now for 15 years, and I still am in awe of Zakk. Folks, there are many tricks that guitarist use to make themselves sound better than they really are. Distortion, flangers, phasers, delay, etc as well as the front-of-house guys. I would kill (not really kill, but you understand) to get the pinch harmonic/vibrato that Zakk has. this song is perfect to getin mood for drinking
Fuck yeah!
E. Fazer. Outras coisas.....
More than 17 years ago. Time flies, and so does Zakk and BLS.
Zakk Wylde is one of the best guitarrist now... will be a legend.
It's a great song!!
Zakk was my inspiration for touching my first guitar (I was 6) and he's still my inspiration 2day. And now this song seams to be my inspiration for what I'm doing right now. Long live BLS and long live fucking METAL \m/

Every single one of those "Ohhh Yeah!"'s were simply perfect to the ear.
One of my favorite BLS songs...S.D.M.F.
This live performance is SO much better then the albumversion! Damn I missed out on them at their last show :(
Walked out of my mind,
don't wanna find, whatevers left
Stoned and drunk completely gone,
my world is here to stay
Hide my fears and kill my doubts,
whatevers in my way
Killer lyrics, so true and so right. The life of an alcoholic drug addict.
I can definitely hear Zakk's southern rock influences, especially with all of his bends and chords mid-solo.
Listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd and you will hear where he got it from.
Pinch harmonics are from ZZ Top. But what skinnard songs though?
His wide vibrato is from John Sykes. Listen to Crying In The Rain - live in Rio
Even behind my keyboard, I can feel the booze and weed smell...
never stop being a fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw the real Rhoads Polka Dot V a few days back truly emotional experience. Zakk's a great player, and deserves to hold the axe.
He was in Singapore not long ago promoting his guitars. Just a month ago, i was there :D
Lowkey Zakk Wylde is a great guitar player..dude can shred his fingers off!!...he is underrated in my opinion, doesnt get enough recognition....
i mean he was successful wit Ozzy, and both solo and BLS is great...
great!!! looking forward to their concert in Belgrade finally!!!

How can a person feel alive unless they hate. You hate too. Don't deny it or apologize. Unless you are on something, you hate too.
Believe it or not the guitar and soloing has been cool for awhile, at least in the metal world. You just don't hear the good bands on the radio that much anymore. A7X, Atreyu, Shadows Fall, and many more bands have made the guitar cool again in the heavy metal and rock world.

Reminds me of the movie the pick of destiny . Master explorer but in real life. If you haven't seen the movie watch it haha
No, it was originally going to be Dimebag's but around the time it was finished Dime had already gone back to Dean so the guys at Boogie Street (the custom shop that made it) Gave it to Nick
Excellent!
Zakk is the king of metal! This version is supreme!

It just goes to prove... It doesn't matter what the guitar looks like. It's all about what the musician can do with it.
Craig was an absolute beast...damn shame he is not with BLS anymore.
own it on dvd too and i still watch it on youtube :P bad habit i think, plus its easier to watch on youtube. its the lazy way!
I liked this concert version more than the way it sounds on the album!
tomorrow in berlin!! HELL YEAH!
I think ur right. I heard something about that. I am still in love with his Les Paul though.
the best BLS line-up
It doesn't get any better, does it?
yep, his first album was in 81, then diary of a madman in 82, then he died and Jake E Lee did bark at the moon in 83
what a powerfull performance
@1369billy you may be correct, probably you are but one thing I can guarantee is the solo is the live one! no need to re-record it, he nailed it just fine, slightly different from the album but equally as epic!
zakks the best one think I always liked about zakk is that solo that plays on album solo that plays live or very similars ¡¡¡
Love the black & white (polka dot) guitar he has
@Dustin Hall Purple and white?
@stendec Sorry, that's not Randy's guitar. His guitar was black with white dots. The original luthier goes by the name of Karl Sandoval, and he still makes these guitars today. Randy paid roughly $750 for his original polka dot, and I think it's on display at one of the Hard Rock Cafe's, possibly San Fransisco.
zakk....semplicemente DIO!!!!!!
I'll buy this DVD

Oh, My God!!! This kicks serious ass!!! Zakk Wylde plays one mean guitar!!!
@ZAKKZAKK99 The temptation is too much... jelly-filled hits the spot everytime...

Oh just so everyone knows, I am not trying to bash Zakk. He is my favorite guitarist, I am just trying to shed some light on him.
Okay let me correct myself.
The one Nick was selling is a Dean Confederate yes but its a Razorback.
I dont think the one in this video is the guitar I was talkin about so sorry for any Misinformation

@LoneMuttonChop Dunno man, ask him on Twitter :)
But as far as I know it's Randy Rhoads' old guitar, or at least a replica, that's why he loves it!
yes this is off a dvd, it called Black Label Society European Invasion, and it fuckin kicks serious ass! ZAKK RULES EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@berserkers01 typo dude i was super heated about what i replied to wasnt really payin attention. just wanted to get my thoughts out
Zakk's voice was at it's best here.
@Laturbo u pepole in eurpoe are so so so lucky!!!
now that, is the kind of guitar I would get for my 8-year-old daughter.
I can tell there's an echo effect, but you still hear his unaffected voice before the echo effect, and his head away from the mic while this ocurring.
