As a current HR looperboard owner, I can attest that the company (HR) did not stand behind their existing customer base at all with the previous hardware version. It is clear that since in hindsight that they had moved on to this version of the product and possibly could not reveal this to their existing client base at the time. They have been radio silent on their own forum about the looperboard. Zero response to customer questions and concerns. They did 1 major firmware update that did improve the looperboard functionality and aesthetics to some degree. However, it was laden with bugs and there were no incremental releases after to fix....anything. Midi functionality is sparse, poorly implemented, and in some areas completely broken . I was forced to move on to another product which I am not entirely happy with either. But at least they believe in their own product, and listen to what the customer base has to say, They are actively engaged in the improvement of the product's core and functionality. Yes! That band mode is what I have been looking for. A loop that you can use for improve and soloing and then have the different parts on 2,3,4 for song changes like bridge, varied verse, bridge, etc...
I've been using the Looperboard for the past 2 years for all my solo gigs. FINALLY! It looks like HeadRush has stepped up its game and teamed up with people who really can give solid design input! Just the ergonomics of the switching makes it worth it for me -- I'l most likely get one real soon!

Benefit #2- Ability to route and adjust levels all outputs: IMHO it is absolutely necessary to get loop decent quality. This is something the RC 600 falls short on and requires midi programming and an external unit to send midi messages. Fantastic to route outputs to a mixer and adjust on the fly. Benefit #3 super high build quality. The pedals are outstanding and extremely solid. The video display is gorgeous and something a modern unit must have. The RC 600 immediately looks like something of the past, despite quite honestly you can do a whole lot with the boss unit at the price of not necessarily being too easy to use, given a limited display with suboptimal menu navigation abilities The looper X main downside is price. A fair price point should be on the 600-800 € range. I believe their target is professional live looping artists but price will limit adoption. The unit exceeds my abilities and probably not justified given my skills, but others at my same skills level will likely choose not to upgrade. A second downside is number of tracks: Would Headrush consider programming the unit in a way that more track could be used (ie 6-8)? I appreciate the routing options. Great product. Awesome job by Pete in final jam loop. And great job by team that edited video. To everyone at Andertons, thank you this video put me in a fantastic mood. Cheers!
Much as I love the interface and design of this, £1200 quid for what is ultimately a basic four track looper is something only ed Sheeran could afford! I''d recommend the trio+ with the FS3X control pedal. It's a tenth of the price and you can pretty much do all of this stuff, plus it will generate bass and drums from a guitar track, and supports entire songs with multi parts, transitions, breaks and tempo/style changes with limitless looping. Amazing bit of kit
But if this does all your effects well for vocal and guitar as well as harmonies it could be amazing. I can’t wait to see if the harmonies are actually good.
Don't get me wrong if I was minted I'd have this in a heartbeat. But Aside from the built in effects I'm a bit confused about the "tons" of things this does that the trio and the FS3X doesn't. I think absolutely this is a better live tool for a solo artist (i.e. Ed) for sure, and way more user friendly, but when you break ot down, its a still a very simple looper pedal for the price of a PC. In comparison my trio was 100 quid from reverb. Just pointing out the law of diminishing returns with this

I had the pleasure of seeing Ed live before he filled stadiums in a studio with maybe 100 other people in total (and we even had a chat and a beer afterwards). His musical (and looping) skills are absolutely mental; I was convinced at the time that he's going to become a big star and he did. I honestly have no idea how he was able to perform back then without those latest advancements in gear, but he did. This is a breathtaking product for the rest of us who will never make it that far... 😅
Tbh they are very similar as far as I can see (I use the RC600). Sure some differences here and there, biggest one is two channels less on the Sheeran one. But all the modes are in the Rc600 as well, it’s just a matter of settings. I just don’t see any reason to switch to the Sheeran one tbh
I could say that the Headrush Looperboard is the better one! I have experience with both of them. The new Sheeran X has a bad midi substitution. And the loop recording is inexplicably altered and distorted. I couldn't fix this even with time correction turned off. Conclusion: Unusable!
Mr Danish Pete and the Boss are well worth a watch a second time around…even a third … Just can’t go wrong with any of their live. Real time reviews…⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🏴
One thing i miss from the Rc300 is the big buttons. When I'm at home not wearing shoes i constantly miss the switches. Really like the menus and ease of use options of this
Yeah I got the rc300 too and find the buttons too small too. I've put some white felt strips on them to see them better in darker stage settings, but still. Wish they would've used the pedals from the rc30. What I really miss though is an indicator where I'm at in the loop. The Sheeran looper is a beast, but the price, damn..
FINALLY! I just had bought the Singular Sound Aeros and sent it back within a day. Knew it was not for me instantly. I come from my current looper the Boss RC50 which I had since it's release and never found one better overall. The layout and big spaced out footswitches were a big feature. Just snagged this one from a local sop and can't wait for it to arrive.
What did you not like about the Aeros? I just ordered one along with the MIDI Maestro. The Looper X has 4 tracks with pretty much infinite loops. The Aeros (in 6x6 mode) has 6 tracks with pretty much infinite loops, but you have 6 of these which they refer to as parts so it's a like having 6 individual, 6 track Looper X's. With MIDI Maestro you can customize the way you control it and could copy the workflow of Looper X if you so desired. The Aeros has the most tracks/parts of any looper as far as I know. I'm coming from an RC600 (which I'll hang onto for now in case I'm wrong about Aeros/Looper X). Personally, I think I'd prefer the Looper X over the RC600. Many people feel the RC600 is the best, but I've spent so much time with my head in menus, I just prefer playing vs. being some technical expert reading manuals and deep diving menus. The Looper X is intuitive and more than enough for most people, and the ability to see the waveforms is a plus over the RC600. Looper X simply works and Syncs the way you'd expect. Aeros seems to be similar in that regard. I don't want to have to worry about Quantize, Tempo Sync, S-Track Chg, Loop length Free etc. within the RC600. The go and change it on every track, then try to remember what I've done. The Aeros and Looper X make it simple. I may buy the Looper X too and then see what works best for my workflow. If I do, I'll try to make RUclips video explain the Pros/Cons of each of these 3 loopers. Bottom line though is I expect they are all very good, it's just a matter of your desired workflow. I'm hoping to have settled on one within the next few weeks.
I rarely need 4 tracks. Been using the RC50 with 3 tracks just fine for years. The areos is also Waaaay to small a footprint for live us IME and just didn't make sense to my brain or needs. I'm sure its amazing for the right person. @@davidking7363
you use rec\dub\play mode to get nice transitions between loop end and loop start - aka recording the "tail". one shot mode means a loop stops after being played once. decay is the "fadeout time" setting of the above.
I'm primarily interested in the free mode because I like making ambient loops that converge and spread over time because the loops are different lengths. The only other way I've found to do this is to build a dedicated looper pedalboard with a bunch of separate looper pedals and all the extra wiring, adapters, cables, etc. that accompanies that.
It was made in collaboration with Headrush (even has their name on the back). I'd steer clear - Headrush has left Looperboard users high and dry on their forums for months.
Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to connect it to a tablet so you can watch one screen (tracks, for example) on the board and another (say levels) on the tablet?
Just a suggestion for future videos: While deep diving and setting up, it makes sense to tap on the touch screen to navigate.... but with things like Loopers and floor modelers, it's MUCH more telling how easily you can start/stop, clear tracks, or change modes while STANDING and using a toe. "Stop All", undo a muffed primary layer, clear an overdub, and then clear all tracks for the next song are ESSENTIAL to smooth live looping performances. Those features were easy to set up on the Boomerang III and took a couple tweaks to the tap vs tap+hold on the Singular Sound Aeros to make smooth. Given Ed Sheeran's prolific Live Looping ability, I'm sure that these features were front of mind during development, but it's amazing how many pedal manufacturers expect you to bend down to tweak, tap, or change their devices during a live show. (which means the product spent more time on the table during development than on the floor which is fine for some but would be deal breaker on a floor looper.) ☮❤🎶
Had they done that, it would have shown too many of the severe limitations of this unit. The point of this video was obviously not a review, but to heap praise upon it.
Came here to say this. I didn’t watch the entire video, but I’d be really surprised if there’s anything this device can do, that can’t be done with Loopy Pro. Throw in a 79 dollar iRig Blue Board for your foot switches, and you’ve got everything!
Ordered! Would be great to see a demo soon of a multi part song... verse, chorus, bridge, outro. Also, is there any way to have a drum fill or accent? (i currently have beat buddy and that's a nice feature). Also hoping that there's an onboard way to change the bpms of the drum loops you load in. Thanks!!!
I wonder if Headrush will provide more enduring support for this than the Looperboard. The Looperboard was another high-priced pedal which was sold on the basis that it was firmware upgradable. All the marketing hype made much of how it was going to be continually updated. Meanwhile, Headrush releases one major update and then the product disappears beneath the waves. I can't have any confidence in the longevity of anything Headrush puts its name to. Just my opinion as a (disappointed) Looperboard owner.
My honest opinion: this is the Headrush Looperboard with Ed Sheerans name on it. They abandoned and quit updating it almost 2 years ago, which meant they only supported the unit for about 3 years. A $1200 looper and they only gave us 3 years of support. I don’t know why this board would be any different. I’d proceed with caution and find this whole situation pretty disgraceful.
I agree, totally cautious when it comes to their company, when sh*t hits the fan, don't expect any support from them at all, plus product lost all it's value and is buggy as hell
Ok this device seems gold. Questions: 1. is there an octaver, and if there is, does it work like Boss OC3 or Boss OC5 that if affect e.g. only the lower strings? 1. how are the vocal effects? does it gave e.g. pop music autotune?
Love the many xrl's for interfacing each individual track. Will definitely replace the Ditto+ with this. Does it have a master 1/4 inch output to imput into a speaker cab, or just MIDIs and XLR's?
Great device, but: No remote control via wireless IPad app or notebook (like eventide h9..)? Without an external editor on a stand you have to crawl down every time to tweak it or put it on a table like with all those other loopers I had and found annoying to change the ergonomical workspace for programming them. At that pricetag Bluetooth would have been easy to change that as an addon to the great screen I have to bend down to or use binoculars while on stage - so far I don’t see it or am i wrong?
Check out Jarle Bernhoft live at Bauhaus from about 7 years ago to see a guy using a looping setup verrry nicely. Often with this kind of stuff I get bored waiting for the song to start while the player builds up endless parts over the same chord/progression. Nice bit of kit though, with a lot of features. Very spendy, and doesn't even come with the extra feet you'll need to operate it :-/
I was literally just looking about a year ago for a multi loop pedal like Ed's, something I could play cover songs with, having a different loop for a chorus or bridge or ending maybe instead of just 1 track looping over and over, I ended up getting the HD 500x because I needed a interface, this thing might go on my list for upgrading my HD down the road. I would love to see someone cover a song with different parts to see how this works
I have absolutely no idea who Ed Sheeran (and I dont care to looped acoustic guitars are about the most uninteresting thing i can think of musically) is but this is kinda interesting. Looks like it has a lot of the functionality of the old digital echoplex (which is still the most interesting looper for my money) which puts it leagues above most the market.
@SamVecchio I heard it in relation to baby Taylor's when I worked at a guitar store. I'm not really into a lot of music like that. Like Joe Bonnamassa came in and I had zero idea who he was (and my coworkers found it hilarious so no one told me who it was). About half an hour into showing him guitars, i figured it out because he was playing in town that night. It's just not my interest point. I don't like most vocal music, i don't really enjoy the blues. If you asked me to pick taylor swift out of a line up of 10 women there is a 90% chance I'd be dead.
@SamVecchio eh. I'm good. I turned it on for 5 seconds, heard his voice and shut it off. I get why people like it, I just am not a huge fan of singing in a pop context regardless of how good the guitar playing is.
I was onboard until I saw the price . At £700-900 I would have been onboard but £1200 is madness especially when there’s loopers like the rc600 and Aeros for much less
If there is an update on this to stop an individual track rather than just mute a track that would be even more awesome, still ordered one but that would make a massive easy upgrade.
I got 6 minutes in thinking this is basically a Headrush looperboard🤔 having had the original looperboard for many years, it’s a solid work horse, and having the visuals on the screen is a game changer for looping cues, track levels track bouncing etc. Expensive but worth the money I’m sure.
Vocal harmonies triggered by the guitar‘s signal? If that‘s also on board, I‘m interested… And if it also does IRs (as in acoustic IRs), that‘d really make it tasty as an all-in-one.
I bought rc 600. Because it is 3 times lighter, smaller size, has 6 tracks, 2.33 times cheaper. It took me one week to set it up to my liking. Does not have touch screen. So have to learn stuffs via youtube and parameter guide. Can only use 4 fx at a time unlike x which can use 7 at a time. But its enough for me. But I am pissed off that I cannot assign different input fx banks to different tracks so that corresponding input bank is automatically activated when I play a certain track. I dont know if such functionality is available in other loopers. I would like insights from other looper users on this issue.
For personal/small band use, does this eliminate the need for a mixer or audio interface? I'm new to audio equipment, so can this basically act as an all-in-one solution? I feel like I'm missing something. Either that, or this is the most utilitarian piece of equipment I've ever come across.
i mean, to say that Ed doesn't use a customized version of this is just not correct, Ed's looper is, in my opinion, still ergonomically better AND has a second dedicated screen for waveform view and the primary screen is far larger. This is an awesome breakdown of the pedal, just wouldn't want people to be mislead on that point.
I’m a guitar player I have a friend that would blow your mind with a looper he does the drums himself the guitars the bass the vocals everything and he uses a drum kit not just some backing track that’s already there
Man- this is an amazing piece of kit. After you have a track recorded can you then go into the FX block and change the fx, re-amp it, etc.? That way you could lay down all four tracks, go back through and edit each one to find the best fx and amp. I'm sure you can- might need to connect it to a pc though- that's how the MX5 does it. It would be better if you could do it in the unit itself- no need for a pc. I'm still diggin' the mX5- but I've never used the looper. I've had it almost a year now and I've never used it once. There are no drums in it so- kind of kills the looping thing for me if there's no beat. You can still use it for practice though I guess, I probably should. That way I wouldn't have to torture our bass player and drummer the way I do when we're working out a lead break or something. I have to play it 50 times or more to get the timing worked out sometimes- which is literally like torture for them. I could do all that at home with my looper I guess.
One of the things that makes the boss pedals so good, is that the drum variations really make the drums more interesting... Steady beat is boring and makes the loop itself somewhat boring. I have an RC10 and the drums almost make some of my stuff. 😊
I got mine today and love it!! One question though, I re-named each track but when I turned the looper off and on again the names go back to Track 1 etc. is there a way of saving the names permanently?
I don’t use a looper but I can see this being incredible for anyone that regularly performs with one!
I've got one , it's called a DAW. Buskers could use it, Buskers that have £1200 going spare ,that is;-)
As a live looping musician myself, this makes me drool. The foot switches look so solid!

The Funk track at the end of the video was class.
I was waiting for this! Perfect for what I need. Monumental product!
Hope you've got your order in, they're running out fast! Don't miss out!
Got it, yes! Super fun and powerful!
That's an extremely impressive bit of kit! Good demo guys!
This thing is a beast. I like the pedal and visual design. I love my Digitech Trio+ for simplicity, but with practice this would blow that away.
Hey reply back here when you have some thoughts on it after getting time logged in!
@@gerimayawhyte154 Absolutely. Was planning on a whole bunch of new content when the right looper came.
The Boomerang III can easily do that. You should check it out
It's basically a Headrush Looperboard. The only, and truly useful upgrade it's the FootSwitch!
Totally
It was made in collaboration with Headrush (even has their name on the back). I'd steer clear - Headrush has left Looperboard users high and dry on their forums for months.
@@jonwhittington752 Unfortunately I know, they want us to buy this new one.
Headrush looperboard on sale!
The Trio+ has drums built in but this does much more. awesome video guys!!!!
Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to connect it to a tablet so you can watch one screen (tracks, for example) on the board and another (say levels) on the tablet?
You two have way too much fun. I haven't gotten past the Ditto, but this makes me wish I had found one before my physical skills were so diminished.
I always enjoy the looper jams in the videos, so this will be a great tool for those going forward. 👍
Wonder if Headrush will update the original Looperboard with the same UI?
Agree, I use an RC505 at a high table height and a Midi controller on the floor.
I'm surprised at this level of dis-functionality.
Had they done that, it would have shown too many of the severe limitations of this unit. The point of this video was obviously not a review, but to heap praise upon it.
Wow!! it loops video too. How awesome is that!
I would love to see a side by side comparison (features to cost) with an app like loopy pro thats already on my phone that i'm watching this video on.
Or if you have an ipad, you can buy a 30 dollar app, that can do this and much more, with HQ effects . love the Loopy pro app to bits
Came here to say this. I didn’t watch the entire video, but I’d be really surprised if there’s anything this device can do, that can’t be done with Loopy Pro. Throw in a 79 dollar iRig Blue Board for your foot switches, and you’ve got everything!
I think you just saved me $1299. Gratitude!
100% on board with a firmware update for the "GLOBAL AUDIO ROUTING" - Perfect initial feedback Peter and Team.
Seems we all now know why Headrush stopped support to their Looperboard.
Hopefully this will reinvigorate them to get back to the Looperboard.
These two cats always have great chemistry and is so fun to watch.
Love the jam in the end. 🎉
Amazing video! I watched it in its entirety in 5 seconds and here's my comment!
Exactly, fck em and will continue calling them out for it every single time I see this product being advertised
Ok damn, was so hyped about this, reading this is a bummer
I agree, totally cautious when it comes to their company, when sh*t hits the fan, don't expect any support from them at all, plus product lost all it's value and is buggy as hell
Nice picture-in-picture editing job there!
What kind of synthesizer they use in the outro?
Danish Pete Supremacy!!! That jam towards the end was Insaneee!!🤘😂
thanks for sharing, loopers arelso great for bringing back loops you have not used for a while.
Ok this device seems gold. Questions:
1. is there an octaver, and if there is, does it work like Boss OC3 or Boss OC5 that if affect e.g. only the lower strings?
1. how are the vocal effects? does it gave e.g. pop music autotune?
Love the many xrl's for interfacing each individual track. Will definitely replace the Ditto+ with this. Does it have a master 1/4 inch output to imput into a speaker cab, or just MIDIs and XLR's?
Great device, but: No remote control via wireless IPad app or notebook (like eventide h9..)? Without an external editor on a stand you have to crawl down every time to tweak it or put it on a table like with all those other loopers I had and found annoying to change the ergonomical workspace for programming them. At that pricetag Bluetooth would have been easy to change that as an addon to the great screen I have to bend down to or use binoculars while on stage - so far I don’t see it or am i wrong?
oh funky boys, that thing, gona revolutionise music, great vid boys
I've had 3 different boss loopers and I would probably go for 505 mkii if I decided to upgrade.
I would probably never buy this, but I'm glad I checked it out because of that intro jam. 👊🏼
Very spendy, and doesn't even come with the extra feet you'll need to operate it :-/
Great jams! Looked like you were both having a great time!
Touch screen menu hell for the iPhone generations. It’s priced where I’d expect for that. It’s cool.
Honestly, unless you can undo and redo instantly per track, this thing is way less powerful than any Boss RC product
Great video folks! Pete is a genius !!!
Dude, that line/phrasing at 2:12 is killer! 🤘🔥
I would love to see someone cover a song with different parts to see how this works
hopefully, we can see a comparison between boss rc 600 and this one!
Did you arrive on earth today? No idea who Ed Sheeran is? Like at all? Never heard his name? Ever? 😂
Pod person alert! Who is this Michael Jackson character? And Britney Spears?
@SamVecchio I heard it in relation to baby Taylor's when I worked at a guitar store.
I'm not really into a lot of music like that. Like Joe Bonnamassa came in and I had zero idea who he was (and my coworkers found it hilarious so no one told me who it was). About half an hour into showing him guitars, i figured it out because he was playing in town that night.
It's just not my interest point. I don't like most vocal music, i don't really enjoy the blues. If you asked me to pick taylor swift out of a line up of 10 women there is a 90% chance I'd be dead.
@@fivewaysyou should give him a listen. Better yet watch him live loop. Impressive for sure.
But now I can’t stop watching vids and convincing myself I need it !
Makes the rc600 look a bit outdated without the nice big touchscreen display
If there is an update on this to stop an individual track rather than just mute a track that would be even more awesome, still ordered one but that would make a massive easy upgrade.
I got 6 minutes in thinking this is basically a Headrush looperboard🤔
having had the original looperboard for many years, it’s a solid work horse, and having the visuals on the screen is a game changer for looping cues, track levels track bouncing etc.
Expensive but worth the money I’m sure.
Just like the looperboard except smaller and different shape switches
I just got an RC-500 a few weeks ago. This is nearly the size of my whole board.
Stick with the Boss :) this pedal is a rip off! With the ED tag! I rather spend 1000 on a Jeff Beck cable :)
Ha I have a 500 never gonna lose it
I'm a looper dude and I was hoping this!
For personal/small band use, does this eliminate the need for a mixer or audio interface?
I'm new to audio equipment, so can this basically act as an all-in-one solution?
I feel like I'm missing something. Either that, or this is the most utilitarian piece of equipment I've ever come across.
505 mk I is the peak of value at an affordable price. This looks good for sure
killer guitar tone from pete !!!
Nice video, thanks guys!! Would be great to see a comparison between Sheeran looper x, Boss RC 600 and Headrush at some point. 😊✌🏼
i mean, to say that Ed doesn't use a customized version of this is just not correct, Ed's looper is, in my opinion, still ergonomically better AND has a second dedicated screen for waveform view and the primary screen is far larger. This is an awesome breakdown of the pedal, just wouldn't want people to be mislead on that point.
I’m a guitar player I have a friend that would blow your mind with a looper he does the drums himself the guitars the bass the vocals everything and he uses a drum kit not just some backing track that’s already there
You can turn Ableton Live software into a loop machine, and use a midi foot pedal to control everything. On a laptop your completely mobile.
I see people do that. Is the capability beyond this?
@@jfo3000 way, way, way beyond.....
That final loop was EPIC!!
Audition Drum Loops! Oh man this is exactly the features on my list.
Is there a possibility to create a setlist and rearrange it for different shows - so make a separate loop for each song and then recall it?
Did you find out the answer? Is that possible?
No end to Pete's talents.
4 tracks just aint enough for me. I use all 6 all the time on my RC 600. but what a great bit of kit the looper x looks like
I bet there'll be a bigger one, after they've sold enough of these.
😳 Super Loopin'🎼🎸 Incredible Product! Great Review' Thank you Lee and Pete and Ed Sheeran!🌐🖖
I just learned Mary Had A Little Lamb, and I'm watching this and thinking I could use this to enhance my performance😂😂😂😂
One of the things that makes the boss pedals so good, is that the drum variations really make the drums more interesting... Steady beat is boring and makes the loop itself somewhat boring. I have an RC10 and the drums almost make some of my stuff. 😊
Awesome review ❤
Can you have pre recorded loops that you can kick in like in a part “b” or or part “c” that would be different chords than the main loop?
I got mine today and love it!! One question though, I re-named each track but when I turned the looper off and on again the names go back to Track 1 etc. is there a way of saving the names permanently?
Setup.....Save Loop...I'd expect. Name it and you have a template.
Great show guys! Thank you! Blessings
