The 900cc Ducati powered go kart is back! The "Ducarti" is by far our most dangerous vehicle in our fleet. We took a racing go kart chassis designed to handle the power from a Briggs and Stratton flathead making less than 20 horsepower, and stuck an angry, torquey, 80 horsepower motorcycle V twin on it. It's an absolutely insane go kart.

I built a shifter cart in 1978 with 360 Suzuki RM 2 stroke motor that had an open tune pipe! Was as loud as the Ducati! When brought out on the rural street I live on a lot of Neighborhood came out to watch!
And here I was thinking John's parent's lawn would get a chance to come back.
Nothing makes you feel like a complete ragdoll more than this thing does.

PS. I think you need some type of chain guard. It looks a bit sketchy. I would not want you to get hurt.
so why didn't you put the ducati motor in the crosscart, since the frame is a lot more rigid I would think it would have held the power much better than that frame....

Helps to know who's complaining, because then you can go about having the fun when they're not home. Other than that, wouldn't be surprised it was John's dad. Perhaps sketched out by some of the more recent carts getting to be a bit dangerous now that they're using proper motorcycle engines.
That chain tensioner needs to be supported on both sides. There is no way you'll be able to keep it straight without it. also, cut a groove in it.
The chain tensioner would be generally Kinder and more effective if it's bearing pressure were a spring(15-25 lbs force?) rather than fixed- the large angles of departure on the wheel suggest losing at least one link would be helpful. The chain angles going over 15% are generally frowned by the chain makers (the angle of the chain on to and the chain off of the tensioner). If it helps, great; if not, it's free advice and worth at least what you pay for it!
definitely needs a triangular plate on both sides but no groove because it will groove itself.
Thats right. I had so many attempts with b.s ebay chain tensioners so i used a skateboard wheel supported both sides and welded on by a swivel point and then made an adjustment bolt to push it where i need it.👍
Throw it in the woods and make the chain the right size. These guys think the chain has to be tight. They always over tighten chains.

No, unfortunately explicitly in the rules the golf cart can't be radically modified
Radically modified is a matter of opinion, in my opinion that's a modest modification, like adding decals....
CarsandCameras couldn’t you get a stock Ducati engine and put it in the golf cart and it wouldn’t be radically modified if it’s stock.
Just gotta keep it "appearing stock" and have a few mufflers in line
To be street legal the cart can't exceed 25mph. So it makes no sense to modify the golf cart

2:50 unless that plate is 1/2" thick your just adding weight. The frame needs to be triangulated from the axle up and then forward.

Why not use an idler sprocket for a chain tensioner? Much more durable.
This is a much better choice with the angles they are running

Tips for creating a chassis that can support this type of engine. The heavy weight and I don't have a workshop with me. Change a few parts and especially the valve belts.
The only thing I'd suggest before racing: FRONT BRAKES!!!!

You guys need to buy a float charger. Keeps batteries charged for long storage by running a trickle charge. They are cheap, like $15 bucks.

Get a lithium motorcycle battery, it won't die if you let it set.
It will still die if you let if you let it go dead and don't keep it charged, which is the reason their batteries have issues, there is no low voltage protectors, those motorcycle batteries are not meant to be discharged, fully discharging it even once can ruin it, or if you leave it sit at low charge it will ruin it, starter batteries are designed to only be discharged 5% at most, you need a deep cycle battery if you want to discharge it a lot, but even deep cycle will damage if you go too low, lithium batteries will last a long time if you only discharge to 50%, but if you run it dead, it might die completely.
@@buddyloco9504 I wonder if they are leaving their batteries sitting on the cement floor in the garage. That will drain a battery dead. I always placed the battery on a piece of wood.

if not spring tensioned it should be adjustable with a bolt and nut, would make it easier to put the chain back on too
