Hes struggling so hard you can see the sheer willpower to put on a show. You really dont see artists suffer for their art anymore. His last show was amazing and he dedicated it to his brother. RIP two kings 👑 👑
RIP Jim Steinman and Meatloaf. Two unique characters who contributed great energy to the entertainment world
Together again!
wherever they are right now, they must be rocking the place like hell . RIP to both of them
They created a whole new genre of music. In '77 we had never heard anything like this music before.
@@allisonmarlow184 Meat Loaf
Wasn't entertainement only...was pure art and passion! A couple of geniuses❤❤
I'm a 33 year old man, and I just cried a little. He's back ❤❤
Wonderful to see Meat's voice was back after his surgeries. To have this be his last performance as opposed to his last couple years of shaky
concerts put an appropriate cap on his well-deserved legacy.
RIP Mr. Loaf.
Best I've heard him in twenty years. Think he literally has been to hell and back with medical issues and I never expected him to perform again so seeing this is very emotional. He sounds amazing! He's back!!!
What happened ? I hadn’t heard
@@melindahester7715 goodness, where to start? Multiple back surgeries, one of which left him with irreparable nerve damage, a couple of knee operations, a broken shoulder, broken arm...maybe it's quicker to tell you what he hasn't had! Yet here he is, still fighting and still performing.
Yeah, I was thinking WTF happened? He sounded nearly in the grave on the last record, here he sounds so much stronger.
Too much touring killed his voice... This performance he is fresh:)
Last time I saw him he collapsed on stage. The mic was 6-8' away and he was out, Yet his voice was still singing. Leave the poor guy alone. The JFK story wasn't for this show. It screams desperation and makes Mr rogers a million $$$ production. The chair they put Meat in was sucking him in like quicksand.
He can hardly stand, he is barely alive, and yet he kicks ass like a mighty mule. This is magnificent.
74 years old & still giving it 100%. Meat you truly are a legend buddy. Never stop rocking
It's amazing.
He is rocking in heaven now
Meat Loaf ALWAYS gives it everything he has got.
Like the show when he collapsed and even though he was 8' away from the mic and out his voice kept coming out of the speakers. I loved his voice but this is just sad. leave him alone now.
And "anything for love"
It took guts to come back from all Meat has gone thru...he is a truly amazing person...loved it!
..
God, this makes me emotional.
He's finally back on stage, giving a great tribute to his brother Jim, sounding better than he has in years, struggling in his body.
And now he's joined Jimmy in paradise. The dashboard light has gone out at last.
Rest easy Meat, you've earned it
Hurts for me especially since this is the best he's sounded in recent times. We hadn't heard of him since 2016 with braver than we are, and after this performance he announced he's back and ready to release one more album and performance. Keep on rocking Meat.
When he fell / stumbled back onto the chair when i first saw this I was so worried about him, little did we know this would be (to my knowledge) the last LIVE performance we saw from Meat, RIP Buddy!
I thought he would fall over glad he didn't
While this is his last time performing his own music, he did perform Johnny B Goode at a bar I believe in December
I'm so glad this performance exists. What a cap on this man's amazing legacy. Rest easy, Meat. Your work will live on forever. We love and miss you!
It's even better than the album. It's all worked
I'm crying 😢😢😢😢😢😢
I loved this man for 37 years after i discovered the bat out of hell album aged 11. He saved my life because it gave me a reason to keep fighting when i just wanted to end it all.
I was 7 when I first heard those two intro notes on the guitar that just blew my ever lovin' mind!
That's a beautiful story happy u are still here, me today I'm looking for a song likewise to get me to keep fighting when I want to end it all at present I hope I find it :(
@@shaneheffernan rock and roll dreams come through. That one always reminds me that the beat is yours forever and it's always true. Just like life. Your life is yours and nothing in life is unfixable. The only thing you'll never be able to come back from is death.
@@shaneheffernan Hey man, listen to some Pink Floyd…Comfortably Numb.
@@shaneheffernan I'm so sorry to hear you feel this way. There really is One True Hope in this life - His Name is Yeshua, aka. Jesus Christ. He is the only man who ever conquered death. He is historical, and His death and resurrection are the centre of all human history. God loves you beyond measure, and He made a way for you to find eternal peace and comfort through His Unique Son, Christ, Who is one with Him, and through whom the universe was created. I urge you to honestly ask God to reveal Himself to you. You have nothing to lose by doing so, but everything to gain. He is our only Hope.
Great tribute to Jim who along with Bernie Taupin are two of the greatest songwriters ever.
And, of course, Elton John. But that goes without saying! :-)
True that, though Taupin only wrote the lyrics, while Elton John wrote the music. Jim Steinman was the complete package. And though Steinman always said Meat Loaf did his songs best (there's the "brothers" thing Mr. Loaf was talking about), he did have huge hits with others, such as "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" (Air Supply), "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" (Celine Dion), "Read'em And Weep" (Barry Manilow"), "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" and "Holding Out For A Hero" (both Bonnie Tyler).
Taupin wrote great songs that entertain mediocre minds.
The best he's sounded in a very long time, he looked very nervous which is understandable - I know he's seated cos he cannot walk well, but I think a slower pace kinda suits him. Well done.
So you believe that was him? I say that because the last time I saw him on stage he collapsed, mic went one way, he went the other, He was out. Yet his voice was still coming out of the speakers. I feel bad for him on this show. Let him live in our memory. This show and letting him tell the JFK story was too disjointed to share like this. The whole thing made Mr Rogers look like a million $$ operation.
Do you belive they made "him" sing worse for well over a decade, yet now "they" made him sound better? If he knew he wasn't able to sing at 100% i wouldn't be shocked if he had used a backing track to support him, many people have done that.
I've heard the studio recording and three live recordings of this song. I'm no forensic expert, but Meat's not lip synching as far as I can tell. He probably had more time to gather his strength on a TV show that wasn't live. Yes, he's frail here, but when the music rises he takes it in and gets off that chair and shows off what he always told audiences: "Don't - ever - stop - rocking!"
he sounded like he used to be in 1996s, even way better than his last album braver than we are. 🖤
Yes, just a little calmer but I'm perfectly fine with that.
Not really. The brilliant band and backing vocalists are making him sound better than he is. He's still flat and out of sync on occasions. He's singing in a completely different key on the first verse.
@@tixxstixx not true. Fix your ears. This is an awesome performance. The band is amazing, Meat Loaf is a legend.
@@renegadeangel5194 I think you're the one who needs your hearing tested. You seriously think he's in tune? I guess you must think Braver Than We Are is his best album of all-time as well.
Please listen carefully to that performance again, and stop jumping on the bandwagon. The band and backing vocalists are carrying him. Period.
@@tixxstixx Look at how many people enjoyed the performance vs didn't. Music and art is subject. People who love him mostly seem to love this performance.
I watched this live on TV. Had no idea it would be his last performance on television. RIP Meat.
No one knew…. No one could know… at least I am super happy it was an epic performance
It's prerecorded and aired. You can't watch it live without being in the studio audience.
Last performance on TV maybe. But Rock N Roll heaven has a hell of a band waiting on him.
@@cjford1s Too bad for all of us that Heaven couldn't wait any longer...Hope they're both dancin' on the edge of a grave! :-D
@@cjford1s Here's a Heavenly band: Meat and Janice on lead vox, Jimmy and Prince taking turns on lead guitars, Jaco (Playing rock!) on Bass, Peart on Drums!👍
Meat Loaf died the day before my 22nd birthday, I never had the chance to see him perform live, but seeing this... I honestly teared up... he still wasn't up to his original pipes, as evident by letting his backup singers take over on some of the biggest parts of the song, but over the years, he's never lost his heart onstage or off, and it was still pounding all the way untill the end.
For rocking the world one last time 5 years after your last show, just 3 months before your passing, God Speed into the here after Meat... GOD SPEED!!!
Same here. Meat is the only one of my top 5 favorites I never got to see live. This is one of my favorite songs of his and to hear him do it as his final performance, not to mention the best he’s sounded in years, really really chokes me up
He is the literal Bat Out Of Hell. So glad to see him on his feet again. Welcome back, Meat Loaf! You sound amazing.
Legends get old frail but he banging it...... bat out of hell. Wow he 10 years older than me l.o.l.
shows need to leave him alone. The JFK story with it was not the place to share it. He had a great showbiz life. Don't do this. He needs to live on in our minds as the bigger than life performer we knew him of.
@@dellbeldon9339 What in hell are you talking about? He has shared that story many times and always likes telling it. Then again, you question whether this was a lip sync and if you can't tell it's legit I'd say you'll find fault with anything.
If he passes away I don’t know how I would handle it. I’m thankful he is alive so I can continue to enjoy his music
@@Stranger_In_The_Alps really? You might want catch up. He passed away Thursday night. 20th January 2022
RIP Meat. Reunited with Jim. Thanks for the memories.
I hope you and Jim are rocking out with the angels.
Meat Loaf has been my favorite artist since I was 9 years old, 26 years ago. That was when I first heard "I Would Do Anything For Love". Everyone else was listening to BSB and I was blasting "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights". He had some hard times and so many health issues but despite it all he really left his mark. I'm so happy I saw him in concert in 2016. His voice wasn't as strong any more but he was still iconic and he put on one helluva show. Rest easy Meat. ❤🦇
What a way to go out. Glad he got to come back somewhat and put on a show like this after so many year struggling with health issues. What a performance. RIP
Some of my favourite moments of his career when he quote unquote Struggled. Every night wasnt perfect, but they tried. And i appreciate those nights than other band's best nights.
You should check out the 3 bats live movie where they played blind as a bat live on DVD. Gonna go down in history as rock n roll's finest live moments.
He had surgery on his vocal chords played live anyway, ghe best he could even though you could tell on camera he was in rough shape. He didn't just play a concert every night for 40 years. Every night was special with him, you can just tell. A really cool guy always with great players!
73 years young, im floored.. Bravo.!!
74 as of today!
Holy Shit its Meat Loaf.... Wow, This man still has that great voice after all of these years... What a legend. I love this man's passion.
Great to see Paul Crook, Randy Flowers, and John Miceli there for Meat's last performance! They had a long run.
Damn, Meat has STILL GOT IT!!!!!
Seeing this performance and I'm going to say it was probably one of his last ones is definitely a favorite of mine. Today he passed and another great one is gone. Big chunk of my childhood memories right there. Would have loved to have seen him live even if he couldn't put on a show like he used too. I can sit back and enjoy Meatloaf any day.
It is Actually was his last live performance ever sadly
Had so much more to give us , he still had lots off plans and projects , go now be with your brother, out off the frying pan into the fire , heaven will rock like never before! Meat loaf and stienman! Rip
When I first heard he was working on a new album, my first thought was don't do it. After all he'd been through the last few years, the last thing I wanted was his legend to be tarnished. Now hearing how good he sounded on this, and knowing we'll likely not ever hear it completed as he would have liked, makes the news of his death today even more devastating. Rocking till the end. RIP Meat.
I love Meatloaf! It's so great to see him performing again.
RIP Legend. Heaven obviously couldn't wait anymore for You.
It’s so sad he died not long after this. Him and Jim are up there now rocking it out. May they both rest in peace.
IN tears ..... RIP big man.... TOTAL ONE OFF!! xx
Watching this with tears in my eyes. No words. Thank you Meat for all the memories!!! Rest in peace. Hope you are together again with your brother Jim Steinman.
Meatloaf and Steinmann made great music together. Rock on!!!
This was probably one of his very last performances, and being able to have absolutely killed it here had to have felt so good on his terms. This is awesome.
Man. Maybe in another ten years I'll be able to outsing him. That performance was outstanding.
R.I.P. Meat Loaf & Jim Steinman! Thank you for the incredible music!
RIP Meatloaf and Jim. Thank you.😞
It makes me so happy and emotional that Meat was able to come back after all the shit he came through AND DELIVER!!!
I am so sad that he left us, but he left on his own terms. RIP Legend, We will always remember you
RIP Meat Loaf
This was his last live performance on television
:(
I'd give this a million likes if I could
Wow... He was so close to the end at this point and he still stood up and belted it out when the time came. RIP Meat.
RIP Jim and RIP our Master of Rock, Meatloaf. I love you both to hell and back.
I find it amazing that, yes, he may have had those extra back up singers to hide any weakness in his singing, and yet his voice is still the one I hear over all of them, and I can still tell he hits those notes. I’m in tears, this is beautiful
Wow, a distinctively Meat Loaf song, so rock opera, the standard for modern rock opera has been set.
Only 16 weeks ago! What a loss, gutted!
I had never heard of Meatloaf or the Album Bat out of hell but my wife at the time was a manager at a record store and she brought it home. It has remained my favourite album of all times. Not a bad song on the whole album.
The original song "Bat Out of Hell" was 45 minutes long. The legendary Todd Rundgren, the producer, said "I can't do this," and cut it to 11 minutes and Meat went crazy. "You've killed the song!" "I've killed the song?" "YES! You've killed the song!"
Oh wow oh man wow you are great Meat Loaf you are simply the best now and forever. No senior citizen here! Just love it!!!! Know what I mean.
You know when they talk about the best voice in rock names like Freddie s to Steven axl. Curt. Don't ever forget meatloaf you rock
I've not cried this much since my grandad went. I never had a dad growing up and this man was who I looked up to... Listened to his music for 25 years and it never got old, glad he had it in him to get one more banger out before he went. Forever in my memory, God bless him x
That story about going down to get a parking attendant job, and winding up singing in the club was marvelous! From there to stardom. Like the Scripture says: Your gift will make room for you.
Loved tonight's performance! Yay, Meat!
No one can break your heart like Meat can... I will miss you dearly .
❤❤
Rip. He looked and sounded so well just a few months ago.
Yes, that's true. When i heard he passed away, i could not belive it.
I miss him so much, but his music and his great voice will allways live in my heart ❤❤
He will definitely go down in the music history books top man and a legend
Respect for his greatness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Woooooow he sounds much better today than he did in his farewell tours
When he passed out on the tour his voice kept coming out of the speakers. I'm not buying that this was him live. Or it was heavily modified. Just calling it as I've seen it. He was great but this show just made me feel sorry for him. That JFK story was not the place to tell it. Huck looked like he was in a spot. He tried to keep him on track during the story. Just sad.
@@dellbeldon9339 it was a pre-recorded double tracking of his vocals. It's very common. It gives a fuller sound to the vocals as they are slightly differently sung. This is how vocals are recorded on albums and it's why live performances can manage to sound even close to the same level of quality
Wow what a treat I haven't heard him sing live in 30 years He's still got it it's amazing God bless him and thank you for bringing him to us Mike
Don't bet on it being him. I watched him pass out one time. He was out and the mic was 6-8' away yet the voice was still coming out of the speakers. He was a great singer. Now leave the poor guy alone.
@@dellbeldon9339 I guess it is possible other singers have done it before
On the performance your talking about, that was an extra vocal track used for harmonies, as the record had doubled vocals. This performance is definitely him
God bless you, Meat. So glad he did this.
Man, how did I miss this? This is the best sounding band I’ve heard in awhile and Meatloaf is still slam’n. He’s a legend. I didn’t know Jim Steinman passed away. Him and Meatloaf made modern music history.
I still can believe they're gone :-( Meat and Jimmy
Rip Meat. Im glad he'll get to reunite with his brother Jim 💓
This sounds miles and miles better than the last studio record. WOW!
He's back
@@peypey265 And now he is gone :(
rip big man ,thanks for the music 😞
I was just a kid when I first fell in love with Meatloaf's words, music and stage presence. I'm now 40 years old and crying as such a legend has passed away. Thank you Meatloaf XxX ❤️
He knew he is death sick but till the very end he shouts out his passion. Fire, people. Leave the frying pan. And go into the fire!!!!
That amazing voice!!!,...still can't believe he left us today. Sing with the Angels now Meat, you sure rocked this place while you were here!!!!
My god what a brilliant performance
We can never let this legend die when you see what he's left behind
RIP sir, you were one hell of a musician.
I'm not sure what all it took to put this great music production together for this one-off TV appearance, but God Bless 'em for doing it right.
I was about to note the same thing but you said it better. I don't don't know if this was some kind of special for Huckabee or what kind of budget they had but they did a great job. Great band put together by Meatloaf, huge stage, terrific production and huge number of back up singers.
Absolutely amazing performance by my favourite artist of all time . A true legend . Do not go gently into the night rage against the dying of the light .
74 years young and still rocking it like a legend 🤘🏼
RIP meat hope your now back with your brother, i grew up from a child listening to meat loaf as my dad loved his music very much, he collected every album and we even went to see him live at the nec about 25 years ago, im so glad I went it was really good, but my dad sadly passed away last year a few months before jim and now meats gone seems an end of a era, sad times
That sax, tho...wow!
What's that guys name
Governor Huckabee thank for having Meat Loaf on. I was having a down day and this
Made me smile and warm inside. Mr. Loaf I listen to country most of the time these days. Probably my age. But listening to you tonight reminded me of younger easier years. It was SPECTACULAR. I asked the Angels to please check in with your brother that's moved on and I asked the Angels to wrap you up in their wings to help you grief.
We lost a legend today. Saw him live in his and my younger days. His concert was amazing. We will miss his talent and voice. His concert was like going to a Broadway show.
Excellent song sang brilliantly by the main man Meat Loaf
About time, welcome back Meat we have missed you. You sound stronger than ever.
I also wanted to say y'all look at Caleb Johnson back there singing with Meat and the band, that is very classy. He's showing what kind of entertainer he is going to be. Way to go Caleb.
last time I saw him he collapsed. the mic went one way and he went the other. He was totally out and his voice was still playing on the speakers. Sick they can get away with that. Rest easy Meatloaf. Thank you for all the amazing music.
I feel kinda relieved that his last performance is this absolute gem, not those forgettable 2016 shows.
Thats unbelievable 😮 This song with his age. It looks like he still feels totally young inside and he wants to show his old shell where it's at! 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼
