Calexico is a phenomenal band. Great energy
Love Calexico! Discovered their music back in the mid 2000s. As a native SoCal boy, it always spoke to my soul. I now live in New Mexico between El Paso and Tucson and it still means much to me.
I can’t say how much I love this band. Seen them many times, most recently this year at Shepherds Bush and last weekend in Utrecht. Joey is correct in saying music can be a medicine. 20 years of this lovely band has been such a joy. Thank you Joey and John.
So glad to hear the comment "Music is medicine". Music has powerful healing properties and can mend the body and soul.
I came across this band from hearing Robert Plant and Alison Krauss cover Quattro on their newest album. Greatest discovery in ages! They are brilliant.
For me exactly the same, El Dorado! Indeed the best band I know of the last 20 years. The last four months I bought all their records. Fine characters: Joey Burns en John Convertino. Thank you. Dik Elzenga, The Netherlands
I was so lucky to see this performance from the studio control room! Big fan of Calexico and KEXP. You rock Morgan, Joey and John. Thank you for making that day great!
Gotta thank thank the amazing band and crew at KEXP as well! Takes a village.
Lucky you :-)
First time hearing this band after a friend recommended them. Glad I looked them up. ❤️🧘🏼♀️😃
I can’t say how much I love this band.. You are the first of the first!!!! I except you in Croatia, maybe come Gaby Moreno . . . Ksenija, Zagreb, Croatia

My, My! I don't think there are enough adjectives that come to mind!!! I'll begin with brilliant, dynamic, culturally diverse, intellectual, TALENTED, and Beautiful ( like fine wine 😉❤ ) musicians! Been tuning in to Calexico since their genesis and will be throughout history! Thank You! P. S. "Gotta keep your eye on Max" and, well... I DO!... 👍💯😉❤
Wonderful interview!
Nice the Anthropological approach
Fantastique.. as usual !
Jeeeez 11:52, I was so sure it's about pandemic. After listening this video like 10 times at least, I realized it's released in 2018. My mind is blown
❤❤❤
Excellent ! 👌🎸🎻🎹🎺
Well. It still works for me.
Been a fan since the Friends of Dean Martin playing at the Shelter. Joey & John
YES!
:))
Калексико самые охуительные!!!!
Great band but interesting in retrospect hearing the discussion about how we’re in an age of anxiety in August 2018!. Can’t say the last couple of years have been an improvement. Life pre Covid probably seems like a golden age in the rear view mirror
When Joey and I met he bought me a beer. Cool hombre
cool, The last piece is also very varied 🥁🍷✨

-What instrument do you play?
-The Force
Zero waste!
new guitarist?
calexico's one song guero canelo is a masterpiece like mark knopfler's i want my mtv, not sure why i heard about it only this week, their 8 minute video is amazing and how he starts that song with his deep voice is just incredible. i hope teh group does not get into petty fights likethe eagles, ccr, pink floyd and the list goes on, what is a little bit of money between friends, do not begrudge the tiniest contributor making money, let him live because the magic happened when everyone felt included.
I caint help to say this, but this sounds a lot like that yardbirds song, "For your love" but thats ok though, i absolutely loved it!
....i was talking about the first song, sory i didnt mention that in my original comment
yep, i can hear 'for your love' too. takes me back to colston hall, bristol in '67. 'twas the yardbirds current hit and there they were live on stage, natch keith relf and jeff beck and jimmy page on guitars. what a night!
Love Calexico, miss the Airline, blackface Super Reverb, and tube screamer though.
I spoke too soon!
LOL
KEXP keeping music alive check out Mogwai and Explosions in the sky sets they are great rock on everyone

F***n' djs crack me up. Is there like, a DJ factory?!

Does anyone else think that the drummer looks like Stephen Colbert?
I'm getting more of a J.J. Abrams vibe.
Was searching comments for this!
Johnny Knoxville from the side
I love Calexico and have been a fan since listening to "Spoke" in 96. I've seen them 5 times and twice with the big band in Tucson at the Rialto. My comment speaks beyond Calexico and I'm glad that Morgan attempted to steer the conversation into political and social commentary territory. But when your revolutionary action is to stop using plastic water bottles on stage I mean it's severely laughable. Musicians and artists of today need to learn how to properly activate people and for once they can take some pointers from Pro Athletes. We have a dictator in office and it should be all hands on deck and musicians using their platform for protest and outright denouncing of the horrible policies that are killing the natural world and destroying the people. So maybe you sell a few less records to fair weather fans but you gain a movement that will oust a fascist regime. Still a fan but it's well past time for trying to skirt the edges and remain placated.
2021 agrees, mostly.
never seen so many crappy bands all the crappy bands where do they all come from
