    90s Cops was the best thing on TV. Rescue 911 was alright, but Unsolved Mysteries and Cops never gets old.

      only city cops. Cops like fucking Wall Twp, Middletown, Atlantic Highlands are arrogant assholes. Fuck them. I have more respect for the cops that came from Jersey City, Newark, Neptune, Asbury and lateralled over to a small town because for the most part they were chill. If you went straight into those small towns they were pricks

    Ah the memories. Grew up in Jersey City on Summit Ave , walking distance from Journal Square until going into the Air Force in 76. Then back for a few years. Hoboken was a cool little town. I worked at the Clam Broth House briefly and another great Italian restaurant called Michaels Miss the great pizza back in Jersey and Sabretts hot dogs 😁. Moved to California in 84.

      My family owns a business on Washington street in Hoboken. Been there over 30 years my dad was very close friends with the owner of Clam Broth House. We are there for free A LOT. The sign is still there to this day it’s a part of Hoboken history it won’t be taken down.

    I know its crazy to say but I almost miss the grittiness of NJ back in the day. Everything is so polished now, the people, the cities, the suburbs. The culture of what made us NJ is almost gone.

    I live in Philly and had a driving job for a while and Orange NJ and Newark were two of the worst cities I've ever been too. I barely stopped at stop signs and red lights. Camden is another area you literally ignore all driving laws and just get in and out ASAP.

      The NJ accents change from North to South to match the cities they border. The North NJ accents are NY-based and the South NJ accents are Philadelphia accents. I was born & raised in South Philly and moved up to north NJ to work in NYC & Jersey City for the last 15 years. Big difference in the NJ accents from South to North.

    My 6th grade class was supposed to go to the twin towers in spring 2002. The teachers during orientation in summer of 2001 showed us photos of the view. It wasn’t meant to be. RIP to those lost

    This is when jersey city was super bad .still kinda bad but use to be rough .jersey city was like first city in NJ to be gentrified maybe Hoboken was first
    But up u fil early 2000s jersey city was bad as hell .still averages like 20-30 murder a year .And Newark is next door .and New York City right across River .so a super high crime area .Elizabeth jersey city Newark Irvington east orange Orange union lindin rahway planfield Patterson Passaic west new York perth amboy new Brunswick and that all just the northern and northern central part .then nyc right across River and Bay .and then south Jersey got Camden Trenton Atlantic city Bridgeton Vineland millville Asbury park Neptune city long branch .lake wood Morristown freehold boro parts of towna like old bridge sayreville eatontown oceantown tomS RIVER .pleasant City lol so many crazy parts of jersey and mad.projects was.being.torn.down late ,90s early ,2000s.and.thats when gangs spread through NJ like a plauge
    All suburbs had a lot apartments that became.section 8 so towns like mine old bridge area and sayreville south river started taking section 8 and gangs started moving from Newark area jersey city to central jersey then to shore area then to south Jersey u.got.philly across from Camden so alot of crime .and NJ got strictttttt guns laws.now I'm in west palm Florida and it's crazy out here alot of shootings in south Florida .and it's getting so expensive left.nj cuz was so expensive south Florida was super bad when first moved here 2011 everything was abandon and run down now the money coming in .people bought up parts of cities and waited for years to knock down whole neighborhoodz and build high rise condos and mansions

    I lived in Jersey City most of my life, Jersey City has changed, Journal Square and Downtown looks so different with new high rise buildings. It makes me cry seeing the twin towers, I loved seeing the twin towers at the waterfront and Liberty State Park. Those stupid evil terrorists took those 2 beautiful buildings from us.

      Technology doesn't compare to now, but it was sufficient and in really exceeded our expectations at the time. Despite the technological advances I prefer the 80s and 90s over these days. Politics wasn't a thing like it is now and race relations were actually a hell of alot better.

      its not midwest transplants, overall the USA is losing its accents. idk what is causing it maybe its the fact for the last couple decades tv/show/movies tend to pick a midwest neutral accent for its cast and kids learning to speak from tv/video/movie (since parents use devices to babysit) vs the 70/80s which had a lot of nyc cast I watched a lot of tv growing up and people around me have always said I had this odd ny type accent despite spending my youth far away from nyc. which would kind of make sense due to tv in the 80s had lots of nyc cast.

    Recently, I walked into the successor bar to Redheads. Many bars since its day in that space. I ended up calling the Police since the door was unlocked and NO ONE there, including staff, at 6 p on a Wednesday. Looked like someone had forgotten to lock the place.

    90s COPS was a whole other universe! I remember watching an episode were the detective was CLEARLY a coke head stealing dealers cars and stashes!! So entertaining to watch them destroy peoples lives!!!

    Anybody have the episode of sgt punkett responding to a bad fight at night I believe the bar was called the down under bar? The guy in the bar fight asked a cop for a ride home the cop says no lill lock you up wanna get locked up?I remember that much about the bar fight scene!!!!!!I I don't remember the year I was in 10 th grade In high school!!!!!!

    Another night in Jersey City, folks. Imagine a city right across the river from the Big Apple, and the crime is even worse than New York! I'm from Philly, and there is a neighboring city across the Delaware River, and the crime is a lot worse than where I live. I blame this one on the crack epidemic of the late '80s thru the early '90s. Oh, by the way, the city I mentioned across the Delaware was Camden, New Jersey.

      I live just outside Philly, but travel all over for construction jobs. Have had plenty in Camden, but one in particular was the Ronald McDonald house that was built about 10 years ago. I crossed over the Ben Franklin everyday and cut through North Camden which is legit Zombieland, it's like straight out of a horror movie. Makes Kensington Ave. look like Pleasantville lol

    One thing I've always found weird about this show is how oddly calm the woman on the radio transmission at the end is when she says, "I've got him at gun point." Am I hearing that right? I think she says "132 and Bush. I've got him at gun point." What the hell was she talking about? There's no way she could've been pointing a gun at someone while she was saying that on her radio. I have to be hearing that wrong. What the hell was she really saying?

      Hoboken is totally gentrified and big chunks of JC are. But there are def still parts of JC that are sketch. Prolly not for much longer tho.

      @@jamesmckernan6846 Do you think the nicer & higher priced apartments & housing will actually expand more in old JC? My father & other relatives were born, & raised there many years ago before he died. That area was pretty bad for a long time but I noticed in the very late 90's, & through the 2000's to today in the 2020's that Newport area, & some sections or neighborhoods around it in JC are very nice. But I did not see that expand as much the last time I was there which was 2019.
      It would be good to hear people's thoughts on that. As also the violent crime levels there today in those parts of New Jersey. -Thank you.

      ​@@AlexUSAFIt has definitely expanded throughout JC and the city has much lower crime compared to 20-30 years ago but mostly due to everyone being priced out of JC slowly. It seems like crime is going up slightly this year but is mostly hidden by politicians for now but I don't see it ever getting back to the levels of the 90's early 2000's.

      @@n.a.2488 That is good to hear. Yes when I looked I Zillow & saw the prices, just like everywhere else in the US now, they were astronomical in the JC area. My dad was born after WW2 there, & for years all he ever dealt with as a youth was poverty, crime ridden slums, or lower middle class families not high priced condos hardly at all.

      ​@@LinkII08Not true, literally around the time frame this was filmed some of the Downtown JC cops murdered a young man for ripping up a ticket for tinted windows. Beat the case in court then years later killed one of the witnesses that testified against them. They finally went down for the second murder but not the first one.

      @@n.a.2488 I am not by any means saying JC cops were not crooked. Ironically, I never heard of that case. I know many other similar horror stories where they got away with murder. I had a tenant who was a JC cop and used to be his wife until the hallways were covered in blood. When the other tenants called the cops to come investigate, they used to pop open beer bottles with their colleague and socialize.
