I’m from NJ and it always surprises me that there’s almost 10 million people within an hour or two drive of me, yet so many areas still feel so sparse and isolated
THE U.S IS A CORPORATE BUSINESS WITH NJ SPECIFICALLY BEING AN "INTAKE" STATE THAT HAS ALWAYS HOUSED & SHELTERED INCOMING REFUGEES MIGRANTS ASYLUM SEEKERS AND IMMIGRANTS (WHETHER LEGAL OR ILLEGAL) FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD FOR DECADES. SO OF COURSE ITS 1 OF THE MOST DIVERSIFIED STATES BUT WHATS NEVER MENTIONED IS THAT NJ IS ALSO 1 OF THE MOST SEGREGATED STATES IN THE U.S WITH EACH ETHNIC RACE TO THEIR OWN COMMUNITY. IN RECENT DECADES THERE WAS A LARGE EXODUS OF LONG-TIME NJ RESIDENTS THAT LEFT NJ & RELOCATED ELSE WHERE DUE TO A CONTINUOUS SKY HIGH CRIME RATE, HIGH COST OF LIVING & HIGH PROPERTY TAX. ITS 1 OF THE REASONS WHY THEY DECLARED NJ A SANCTUARY STATE IN ORDER TO BRING IN MILLIONS OF CENTRAL/SOUTH AMERICAN IMMIGRANTS TO HELP INCREASE THE POPULATION BACK UP.

Especially south towards Vineland a lot of wide open land. I drove for Amazon for a few months and was surprised at how many people live back in the woods with single roads leading to their homes.
I think the whole “Jersey is not a desirable place to live” has been a meme before memes were a thing, and has picked up so much steam that it’s reached levels of inaccuracies and given NJ reputation that isn’t true.. It’s hilarious how when the pandemic hit, a lot of folks from NYC began leaving the city and moving to NJ, and now saying how great it is to be away from the city yet still be close enough to commute to work. Which is something folks having been doing for more than 50 years.
@@Huffster21 nope. It may have been true in the past but not anymore. We pay higher taxes because overall, schools are generally better here than the rest of the country. We’re 30-1hr away from the beaches, cities, hiking trials, lakes, and tourist destinations. Not to mention, the diversity in north jersey offers so much options in terms of foods, culture, and lifestyles. Again, a lot of people from NYC, both locals and transplants, have realized that NJ does indeed provide several good places to move to.
Fun fact, you can see both the Philadelphia skyline and the New York city skyline from the top of the King da ka rollercoaster in the Six flags park in the middle of NJ.
@@Justjustice546 Yeah, it's super hard to actually try and see both while riding. Maintenance workers who are at the top take pictures though where they can see both skylines. There are a few you can actually look up.
I’m from New Jersey and I thought you did a great job! Super thorough. I will say, ya forgot New Jersey is the Diner capital of the world! More diners per capita than anywhere else
Agreed, and there are a lot of QUALITY diners in NJ as compared to the stereotypical run-down meh places in other states. Also we got some damn good food from all of the different cultures here; something good for everyone
This was great! People who aren’t from NJ seemingly tend not to know how insanely diverse its people and regions are. How many places can you find beaches, mountains, farmland, multiple big cities, sprawling suburbs, expansive wilderness, massive industrial operations, historical sites, recreational areas, and so much more within an hour drive? You did such a great job of showing that NJ can’t be generalized, and I think that’s the thing most people from here have a hard time explaining and wish everyone else could see. NJ has its flaws like any other place, but it you like options and convenience, there’s honestly no place like it. Thank you for the truly informed video.
In the central part of NJ is a city called Perth Amboy, is where the first Black American voted. Thomas Mundy Peterson... March 31st, 1870 when he cast his vote.
@@jrod8574 That would be the case, if there's no traffic on the Turnpike. It's in Central Jersey, on Raritan Bay near Woodbridge and Sayreville, and across from the southern tip of Staten Island. When you cross the bridges over the Raritan River (Parkway, Route 9) on the way to the shore, you're at Perth Amboy. Also, the Outerbridge is in Perth Amboy.
Cost of living is a function of wages though. I remember a friend of mine moved to North Carolina after high school because prices were so low there. What he didn’t realize until he got there were that prices were low because wages were low, and he couldn’t find a good paying job. He ended up moving back to NJ eventually.
The ridiculous sky high cost of living (for decades) along with a never ending ridiculous sky high crime rate, a mind boggling sky high inflation, a record-breaking sky high homeless rate & now with jersey becoming a whole entire sanctuary state housing thousands upon thousands of illegals from central/south america as well as bringing in thousands of hindu/asian foreign nationals from far eastern countries...a very over populated state catering to newly arriving immigrants whether legal or illegal ((the liberal government meal-ticket))
@@jeremiahallyn4603 I'm from South Jersey so this may be a little bias but it's more rural. Cleaner air, water, more wild life. Has tons of woods. And the crime isn't as bad.
This would of been interesting to include this in your analysis! It would have been cool to know how much money comes into NJ annually from tolls alone. Maybe this would also be a cool fact for New York!
Toll bridges on both the Hudson and Delaware rivers are one-way, assuming everyone crossing the bridge will return, crossing the river both directions.
Watching this from New Jersey. Been here my whole life. Jersey is great, it has its flaws but like which state doesn’t? I love NJ. Some real characters live here plus the state is gorgeous in all seasons
My sister moved to America over 25 years ago with her husband , it was supposed to be for one year while her husband started up a new advertising office for a UK company in New York ..... 27 years later with 3 kids just finishing college and having moved to New Jersey after 5 years in New York they are very happily settled in your state, we have been coming over for Christmas holidays for the past 15 years or so and always have a couple of days in Atlantic City between Christmas and New Year, but unfortunately not this year thanks to Covid.you have a wonderful and varied state with amazing flora and fauna ..... first time I ever saw wild turkeys flying !! Anyway watching this video has given me a greater understanding of your state of New Jersey. Happy New Year Everybody ....... best regards from England 🏴.
New Jersey has an incredible diversity of natural features, beautiful mountains, beaches, lakes, rivers, the pine forests in the south. We have Princeton University, Revolutionary War battle fields and buildings, the Newark Museum, Princeton University Art Museum, and both New York City and Philadelphia near its border. I love this state.
I’m from jersey and I lived throughout the north and south side. I travel throughout the state for fun because there are ALOT of crazy views and vibes. I also know a lot of people on a personal level and I have to give it to you man, this video was 100% on point. I’ve never witnessed another channel present information as accurate and as ample as you have💯💯💯😂 new sub
This is 100% legit. I hate it when youtubers try to explain things from a state just using Google. A lot of times, they miss out on what the locals really say or think. This video is the most accurate NJ video I've ever seen. If I could leave 2 thumbs up, I would👍👍
As a Jerseyite, this is a pretty excellent overview. NJ takes a lot of grief, but those who live here know it's a pretty great place to be all things considered.
How many states have you lived in? I was born in NJ and have lived in 4 other states and traveled to almost all of the states and find NJ no where near the top of my list.
@@sarahdeshay1394 Actually he replied to me because we had the same things in common! I’ve lived in different continents and I’ve lived in different states! so in my opinion New Jersey is one of the best! We can agree or disagree thank you! My question to you is are you Chilean/American? If not this conversation isn’t for you!
The northwestern part of NJ really is pretty and serves as a nice counterpoint to all of the urbanization. Also, Cape May is a priceless city for preservation of Victorian architecture and a really nice beach town.
He couldve spent another hour at least talking about sooo many parts of our state, its so diverse. Didnt mention the NW corner or CM at all really. And the highest point in the Atlantic Highlands where you have a tremendous panoramic view of NY is exceptional. I love our state💕
Good to hear from all of you. I went to summer camp near Jenny Jump Mt. as a kid, so I have known how pretty New Jersey is from the time I was 8 or 9. So many hidden gems.
Cape may is nice but I experienced my first ever racist truly racist service in that town so it put a bad taste to my mouth. The employee was later fired for not service black customers and spitting in our food and eating off our plates after leaving it sit for over an hour, it was on tape that she was doing it to multiple tables of colored people... I know it was her but I can't separate the two, I can now though.
@@trayrite4040 I too am a Central Jersey Native. It's PORK ROLL. 'TAYLOR HAM' is a BRAND. Similar examples: "SCOTCH TAPE", Or "BAND AID" . It's not really worth fighting about - WHATEVER you want to call it, it's a GREAT 'Jersey Sandwich' !!
It's so ridiculous do you call the person that invented pizza this is his pizza or this is his hotdog or hamburger? No! North Jersey has it all messed up LOL
wow, this was a great overview of jersey! this could’ve been well over an hour long since we are a very culturally diverse state tbh. here are some other things about jersey that weren’t covered that i’d like to share: -new jersey is actually more politically divided than people think. there is heavy republican influence in the western 3 counties: warren, sussex and hunterdon as well as ocean, cape may and salem county. the majority of democrats are centered around the major cities. -the wealth divide in the state is most prevalent in essex county, my county :), as in the western half theres millburn(the most affluent town in the country iirc) and livingston, meanwhile newark, east orange and irvington are stricken with poverty and reside in the eastern part of the county. towns like montclair, west orange and verona are almost entirely middle class and are slapped in the middle of the county, and towns like south orange which is basically just rich and poor. -there are legends of bigfoot being seen in sussex county hope I provided some more interesting details :3 proud member of the jersian species lmao ✌️🤟🤜🏼🤛🏼
Well anyone who says Taylor ham is wrong LOL and anyone who is racist is wrong that's how you can tell the Border we are Central Jersey and you are right
@Jordan Sharpe 1) it’s Asians not asains. 2) On my street there is mostly white people but there is a black family across the street three houses down and up the street maybe 7 houses away there is an Asian family. Around the block I know there are two middle eastern families. Also my wife is Peruvian so there’s your trifecta. Maybe bc my family lives in Bergen county there may be more Asians than where you are but they tend to live near each other.
The division of the colony into "East and West Jersey" and collectively referred to as "the Jerseys" as late as George Washington. Likely why "Jersey" became a thing.
Being a NJ native I’ve been born and raised here and been here all 24 years of my life. One thing I wish you would’ve touched basis on is which Climate Zone we fall in here in jersey being that we get hot summers and blizzards in the winter. Also I wish alittle light wouldve gotten shined on how New Jersey leads the nation in Education. People think education and automatically think Massachusetts. Other than that the video was very informative.
Delawarean here - because of Delaware's small population, the majority of the students at Delaware's biggest university University of Delaware are from another state, many from New Jersey. Because we have so many students from NJ, newcomers to the university often pronounce the Delaware town the university is located in, "Newark," using the pronunciation for the New Jersey city. It kind of serves as a shibboleth for in-state students and out-of-state students, because Delawareans always pronounce the Newark in Delaware as "new-ark."
The best way I can explain NJ: Northeast jersey is one big city that acts as a suburb of NYC. Northwest is farm fields with towns dotted in. Southeast is farm fields and the shore. Southwest is a congregation of towns all next to each other acting as Philly suburbs. Right in the center, you have some rich people and Trenton.
New Jersey also has jughandles on many state highways which is a type of ramp or slip road that changes the way traffic turns left at an at-grade intersection (in a country where traffic drives on the right). Instead of a standard left turn being made from the left lane, left-turning traffic uses a ramp on the right side of the road
@@Rockhound6165 Thanks Studa. How the hell to you talk about jersey without mentioning the circles. Although there are only a few around, it was always amusing to watch the out of state plates negotiate the circles. Although our state politicians are lacking and on their own agenda, the state has so much to offer on so many different levels. Nice video.
Yeah I spent the night anchored next to them on my boat!!! (I live in Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay now.) They told us we’d be good there when we were looking for somewhere to drop anchor off of the shipping lane. We got woken up to “Revelry” trumpeting out of their big ass speakers at 600 hours SHARP!!! Lol Oh yeah and “Taps” at dusk!!!!
This was a pretty good video on NJ and very informitive. One thing I think you should have mentioned in New Jersey's industrial history is Roebling Steel as well as the "Trenton Makes the World Takes" slogan. Bridge building and raw material exports were a huge part of New Jerseys economy and while Roebling steel is closed now and Trenton is not what it used to be it still played a huge role in why the state is what it is today.
As a life long resident of NJ, I would like to say thank you so much for this video. You really captured the spirit of the state and portrayed all of our excentricities with a wonderful mix of humor and interesting material.
People are too harsh on Newark and Patterson. They are dismissed as "ugly ghettos", but they are actually filled with history, attractive old buildings (these were wealthy cities once), very urban layout, tons of ethnic minority owned shops and cafeterias, affordable stores, and geniune street lifes. But they're not rich and squeaky clean, so nobody cares. Really want to visit those cities as a fan of east coast cities.
Both Newark and Paterson still have sections such as Forest Hills Newark which has beautiful mansions and East Side in Paterson. And Ironbound In Newark has incredible Spanish and Portuguese restaurants and very safe area of Newark day or night
And now the Liberty Island gift shop should be in New Jersey. Yes CGP Grey did a great vid about our rivalry with NJ. As a former NJ resident, you did a pretty good job with this. You did the state justice. Liberty State Park is my favorite park in the state, a beautiful hidden gem
Agreed! I live in Pennsylvania, and have visited Liberty State Park. It is lovely, open and green. And not every state park can claim a close up view of the Statue of Liberty. BTW, you can see the statue by leaving from Manhattan OR Liberty State Park. I’ve done both and recommend The Liberty Park side (sorry New Yorkers, everyone already knows how amazing Manhattan is😀).
I’m current living in Florida and you are correct, NJ gets crapped on a lot! Now that all the crazies are coming to Florida, I’m moving my happy A$$ back home in the next few months. You cannot beat all that Jersey has to offer! Everyone thinks the entire state looks like the opening credits of the Sopranos. Don’t let them in on the secret!
@@miikavalo8324 He does a good job with these giving a general overall view. But a lot is left out, so you're not getting a full picture of history and culture, and taking states one at a time doesn't put them in a regional context. Still, these videos are probably the most in-depth recent treatment you're going to see on RUclips of each of the states. I applaud the man who made these for putting in so much time to research them.
Born and raised in South Jersey but now living with my wife in Texas. New Jersey is also one of the most taxed states in America. Just thought people should know if they are deciding to live there. Also New Jersey has some of the most delicious tomatoes!
I was born and raised in NJ. I moved to Texas in my early 30s and moved back to NJ 8 years later. I didn’t notice mush difference in the tax burden - NJ has a very high property tax in most areas (especially if your house was built recently), but Texas, along with a couple of other southern states I lived in, tax you in many other ways that NJ doesn’t. NJ taxes may be a bit higher for me because property taxes are higher and houses are more expensive.
I'm from Northeastern New Jersey, no not "Joisy" and your video did a great job in explaining just how diverse our state is. It's not just suburbs outside of NY. Rather, it's farmland, forests, beaches, state parks, quaint towns, and so many other historical sites and lots of industry.
As someone born and raised in New Jersey, this was the most accurate video I've seen on my state. I recently found your channel and was waiting for this video anxiously after binge watching the Delaware and Pennsylvania episodes. I can't wait to finish watching this series! Best of luck for you and your channel.
Not all of folks from New Jersey are those “hey fouck you, up yours” types. Many in the southern part of the state are similar to those from Virginia and Delaware. Northern Jersey is basically a NYC extension just like Long Island and Yonkers.
It depends we do have some influence from NYC but that's Newark as it's the closest to them I am from Bloomfield and I haven't really seen many who are similar to those from NYC or Long Island.
Almost mesmerizing to watch. I’m a teacher, so it’s like watching an amazing report. Great history and recap, and excellent research ! Looking forward to the remaining videos in the series
You did an amazing job! And in less than 30 minutes! I didn't want it to end. I'm from South Jersey and you know much isn't known about the areas between Trenton and Atlantic City. Thank you for showing everyone how beautiful our state is!
Such an awesome video! Thanks for not having a negative bias towards my home state; it means a lot :) and another thing to add: there's a lot of NJ slang/terms that out-of-staters would not necessarily know like "mischief night", "The parkway", and "dts (down the shore)"
WOAH!!! this out of nowhere pops in my recommendations and funny because i was born and raised in south jersey. Usually i ignore recommendeds, but something compelled me to watch. And holy shit... For someone who probably never visited jersey, YOU.... YOU SIR, HAVE DONE A FANTASTIC JOB HERE. YOU JUST GOT YOURSELF A NEW SUBBER. By the way, its called pork roll 😆
There is a magazine called Weird N.J. It has a lot of underground, folk lore, bizarre things about NJ. Been in publication for years.. I love my home state’s history and unique ways of life
Your video on the state of New Jersey was brilliant. Being a resident for 20 years, I didn’t know so many facts but you put them altogether so well in a nutshell. Jersey has so much to offer and we are so proud of it despite some of the shortcomings. You touched on all the important topics like Geography, Science & technology, Famous personalities, Agriculture, Rivers & mountains, Population, Government & Politics, Demographics, Universities etc. Your research and knowledge of the state is beyond a lesson in school & I truly thank you for that Carter. Looking forward to seeing your next video.
We are a homeschooling family learning about US History for the next 2 years. We found your videos really helpful and engaging and hope you make them for all 50 states!
The real sections of NJ: The part that is a suburb of NYC, The part that is a suburb of Philly. The Jersey Shore (Locals don't call it that), Central Jersey, Rural South Jersey and Rural North Jersey. Oh, and sometimes Princeton gets it's own, because Princeton.
I’m from London, England not Ontario. Visited several times between 2002 and 2010 and stayed at the Ramada in Jersey City. The first visit was to see the Lowes Jersey Theatre and one of the others was to ride on the NJ Transit River Line just a few days after it opened. As for food I often used to pick up something from the place at the PATH station, I think it was called Deli Plus. Quite often had pizza. The first time I was there I asked them what time they closed and they looked at me as if I was mad before telling me that they were open 24 hours. I visit Bradford, Yorkshire a couple of times each year and the Fish and Chip shop in the city centre closes at 7 p.m. New Jersey seems like a pretty good place. Camden has a bad reputation but I was once stranded there on the streets overnight after missing the last River Line train, and certainly never fealt in any danger. Quite surprised at the number of Hindus, but did see quite a few Muslims when I was there. Generally good transport, by both bus and train is a plus point, and EWR airport has been good, or at least as good as an airport can be, in my experience. The first time there several large aircraft had just landed and the queues at immigration looked terrible) I thought I was going to be there for hours but they opened several extra positions and I was through in minutes. Handed in the white card at customs and was just waved through. Just as quick as getting into Russia which people also told me would be terrible, in 1974. On one visit I had to fly back from JFK, which I wouldn’t recommend. Queues for the ferry to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty from New Jersey seem to be shorter than those from New York. Unless I missed it there didn’t seem to be any mention of Hoboken, which seems quite surprising.
Finally, a video on New Jersey that isn't just 20 minutes of bashing the place. Also a fun fact you missed: The Success at the battles of Trenton and Princeton during the Revolutionary War were so important, that George Washington originally wanted Trenton the be the nation's capital.
I moved to SC in 89. Before that I lived in Long Branch for the first 22 years of my life. I still miss going to 7 Presidents, Asbury boardwalk, and real bakeries.
I’m born and raised in Jersey just outside Philly and it’s really a great place to live, it has great beaches, hiking trails, shopping malls, an amazing world class theme park, some of the greatest musicians of all time are from here, and it has one amazing hockey team, I love it here so much and hope the state continues to thrive
I was born and raised in Philly but now live in Maryland. I've checked out you Pennsy, Maryland and now Jersey videos and you have done a very good job. They are all informative and entertaining. Thank you very much.
15:59 I've lived in NJ my whole life but hadn't noticed that. I think I had to say it to myself at least 5 times before I realized why you're hearing "Noark"
I live in North Jersey and i gotta say i wouldn’t rather live anywhere else. You have EVERYTHING here. 40 min train ride from NYC, beaches along the whole coast, mountain ranges in the west, a Six Flags, 4 very different seasons, and my personal favorite...absolutely fantastic food, and it’s never far from you
Yoo you did a great job dude, NJ born and raised right here, I will say this, its porkroll not Taylor, central jersey does exist also giants and jets stadium is in NJ but they are new york teams its so wack
I grew up in northwest Jersey, in a little town called Hopatcong. Well, a borough. It's in the foothills of the Appalachians so after we moved (to Florida, and I went very reluctantly), I was completely baffled by the response "what exit?" I would get after saying where I was from. There's a decent portion of Jersey that's small towns with forests between, and it's absolutely gorgeous. My town finally got a traffic light a couple of years after we moved (1980) and it's still the only one.
central jersey exists!! its a big mix of diff things from north and south jersey. for example, im from central jersey and i say pork roll like south jersey yet when i say 'the city' i refer to new york like north jersey instead of philly like south jersey. we are a mix of north and south jersey cultures and we do exist
Cool fact: the hamilton-burr duel happened in Weehawken, New Jersey... Also Thomas Edison invented the light bulb in Menlo Park, New Jersey As someone from New Jersey, I'm quite happy out the light bulb in my home state...
Excellent ! Only one flaw I found is that you spoke about the Jersey Shore and used Atlantic City, Ocean City, Cape May etc. as examples. That is NOT the Jersey Shore. We don’t go to the beach. We go ‘Down the Shore’ which ENDS at Island Beach State Park. Ocean City? We call that East Philly …. Lol. Great job.
This was very good and thorough, great job! As someone who's lived in NJ my whole life, I still learned new things about my state from this video. So this was indeed interesting!
One point to prove there is a centra jersey is that we say subs, and pork roll. And in my opinion the divid is the raitian river bridge down to roughly Tom’s river. I don’t know why we can’t agree that there is a northern, central, and southern part because north and south are so different it’s scary and central has a good mix of both.
I agree with your approximate boundaries, but the people who live south of LBI consider anyone from Manahawkin and north to be from Central Jersey. On a side note, I live in Waretown, which is Parkway exit 69 so I get to say, "I get off on 69"
I agree with you. I live in Central Jersey. You literally walk 5 minutes across the bridge and your in Pennsylvania and the two towns are listed as the highest touristic destinations for both NJ and PA. We have both New York and Philadelphia influences
Great video! I was born in NYC, but lived in NJ for the majority of my life. 37 years in this wonderfully diverse state. I've always said, I live an hour or less from anything I can possibly need or want. We have it all here. I thought you gave a fair and balanced, and not to mention very informative description of the state. Just wish you hadn't mentioned the Jersey Shore show. My one complaint of being from NJ, is that we are subject to the worst stereo types possible. Even in Boston, which isn't that far, everyone thinks people from NJ are either guido's or mobsters. Definitely not the case. As you mention multiple times, it's an incredibly diverse state. Thank you!
Wealth inequality is definitely something in New Jersey, I've taken some drives in the state and the contrast is difficult. you can take one wrong turn and in a few minutes you've gone from mansions to small homes, Luxury apartments to rust belt homes...
Not joking but I used to traffic drugs from a freind who lived in a mansion and had consistent access to the dark web, to freinds who lived in the hood. I only did it for a year before I had a gun pulled on me and devolved severe insomnia. But I agree it only took me 10 minutes to drive between each of their houses.
yeah. immediately after you get out of some parts of Newark, everything is green, houses are nice, and it's just a totally different vibe. You wouldn't believe a few meters away were a bunch of abandoned shops.
This channel is growing like a wildfire in California and rightfully so, the content is very high quality with great editing, script(s), and the mic is pretty good too, (plus of course the narrator). I see this channel becoming one of the larger informative YT channels, with a 6 or maybe even 7 figure subscriber count. As always, great job on the video, and if you need any help with my state, let me know, I know tons about its culture and history.
This was fantastic! I just wondered if you caught that Delaware and New Jersey share a similar flag feature. That Yellow I believe refers to their Swedish settlers. The Swedes and Finns gave America the Log Cabin and had a different take on relationships with Indigenous Americans. I often wonder what the US would have been like if Swedish expansion happened.
I live here and despite stereotypes, we have alot of natural beauty, especially up north during winter. I really love this state, and I hope others will and do too.

Not to mention, the diversity in north jersey offers so much options in terms of foods, culture, and lifestyles.
Again, a lot of people from NYC, both locals and transplants, have realized that NJ does indeed provide several good places to move to.

That's always hidden in the fine print under if you have to ask, you can't afford it, ask all the lawyers necessary here. 😜
Cost of living is a function of wages though. I remember a friend of mine moved to North Carolina after high school because prices were so low there. What he didn’t realize until he got there were that prices were low because wages were low, and he couldn’t find a good paying job. He ended up moving back to NJ eventually.
It’s high but it’s not ridiculous, you get what you pay for. Impressive schools, well paid public employees, access to a plethora of high paying jobs.
I live in a "cheap" state, but salaries also reflect that.
The ridiculous sky high cost of living (for decades) along with a never ending ridiculous sky high crime rate, a mind boggling sky high inflation, a record-breaking sky high homeless rate & now with jersey becoming a whole entire sanctuary state housing thousands upon thousands of illegals from central/south america as well as bringing in thousands of hindu/asian foreign nationals from far eastern countries...a very over populated state catering to newly arriving immigrants whether legal or illegal ((the liberal government meal-ticket))

wow, this was a great overview of jersey! this could’ve been well over an hour long since we are a very culturally diverse state tbh. here are some other things about jersey that weren’t covered that i’d like to share:
-new jersey is actually more politically divided than people think. there is heavy republican influence in the western 3 counties: warren, sussex and hunterdon as well as ocean, cape may and salem county. the majority of democrats are centered around the major cities.
-there are legends of bigfoot being seen in sussex county

There's a few of those here in Rhode Island too! Being from CO, it was really interesting to see that sort of turn-off.
Damn I assumed the rest of the county made use of those too

This was a pretty good video on NJ and very informitive. One thing I think you should have mentioned in New Jersey's industrial history is Roebling Steel as well as the "Trenton Makes the World Takes" slogan. Bridge building and raw material exports were a huge part of New Jerseys economy and while Roebling steel is closed now and Trenton is not what it used to be it still played a huge role in why the state is what it is today.
Roebling also designed and built the Brooklyn Bridge.

Nurk.. he's mispronoucing it..
@@davidbrown9796 sounds more like "Nork" when we say it then "Nurk" *("Nurk" sounds more like the proper way of saying Newark)
The amount of effort going into this series is seriously awesome. Massive respect to you
The pine barrens are a national treasure. Glad you covered them. Awesome doc!!!
I live in North Jersey and i gotta say i wouldn’t rather live anywhere else. You have EVERYTHING here. 40 min train ride from NYC, beaches along the whole coast, mountain ranges in the west, a Six Flags, 4 very different seasons, and my personal favorite...absolutely fantastic food, and it’s never far from you
I was born, raised, and educated (TCNJ) in New Jersey. I absolutely love my state. This video is extremely accurate and representational-great job!
Ewing/Pennington in the house!! lol lol I'm from Trenton
Also attended TCNJ.
I was born and raised in NJ. I love New Jersey
Yoo you did a great job dude, NJ born and raised right here, I will say this, its porkroll not Taylor, central jersey does exist also giants and jets stadium is in NJ but they are new york teams its so wack
I currently live in Central Jersey. My mom's side says Pork Roll and my dad's says Taylor Ham. Both are from NJ, so it's definitely a regional thing.
taylor ham!!!
@@alexalba4185 no shot bro
Central Jersey rules:
Lol it's because jets and giants ARE so wack they got booted outta NY. Ny: keep ya sloppy seconds
It feels so good to hear someone talk about my state in a positive way 😭 Love from Bergen County! (It's Taylor Ham!!!)
Why dont you live in NJ. Its so much better then stupid florida.
@@uzin0s256 I haven't lived in Florida in 32 years.
@@KarynHill Oh did you move back
Winding Brook Farm at 1:26 was just torn down last week. Not enough money could be raised to save this historic barn,
central jersey exists!! its a big mix of diff things from north and south jersey. for example, im from central jersey and i say pork roll like south jersey yet when i say 'the city' i refer to new york like north jersey instead of philly like south jersey. we are a mix of north and south jersey cultures and we do exist
Cool fact: the hamilton-burr duel happened in Weehawken, New Jersey...
Also Thomas Edison invented the light bulb in Menlo Park, New Jersey
As someone from New Jersey, I'm quite happy out the light bulb in my home state...
In new jersey we there's a saying that everything connects back to Jersey
Trenton makes, the world takes... maybe not Trenton anymore, but def NJ..
@@TheJaiNetwork unfortunately not anymore but atleast it makes a good slogan!
NJ transit goes rail way
Crossroads of America
Excellent. I am hyper sensitive about my home state, and this covered it well.
Jersey is my adopted home state. You did a great job of showing everyone how awesome we are without hiding our flaws. Thanks so much!
Thank you!
Thank You for doing this for my state. NJ for Life, respect sir
What a great video! Finally a video about New Jersey that doesn't immediately have negative undertones
Right. The poverty is all in the overtones.
Wealth inequality is definitely something in New Jersey, I've taken some drives in the state and the contrast is difficult. you can take one wrong turn and in a few minutes you've gone from mansions to small homes, Luxury apartments to rust belt homes...
Yeah, I live here and all the cities are pretty trash while suburbs are nice.
Isn't that true for basically every urban and suburban state tho
@@12bestskater12 shit just went from 0 to 100 real quick
I’m from Atlantic City New Jersey and you did a great job.
NJ despite its flaws is a great state and there is many things to love about it as mentioned in this video
I live here and despite stereotypes, we have alot of natural beauty, especially up north during winter. I really love this state, and I hope others will and do too.
