Zendaya seemed a lot more passionate about her music than she does acting even today. But music did not pay the bills, music did not pay her parents bills more specifically. There are so many videos and interviews of Zendaya talking about her favourite most influential musicians and albums etc in depth. But she never speaks the same way about cinema. Actresses like Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone can choose any 70s movie starring Meryl Streep and recite a scene word for word from the top of their heads, because they are actually passionate about cinema and their craft as actresses. Unlike Zendaya, who is in cinema for the money mostly, and if it was really up to her she would be the next Rihanna instead of the next Halle Berry.

I always rooted for her music career to take off but I can’t say I ever had faith in her vocal ability. Selena Gomez had an equally unimpressive voice but she had tone, and that tone carried her, with a team of writers she pulled out more hits than miley and Demi, who are much better vocalists. Who knows what could have been if ‘something new’ became a top 10 hit.
