That annoyed me as well. Although the paints old it could still scratch but even if not out of respect to the car and its owner I certainly wouldn't have done that, I would shout at someone if they did that to my own ford focus, let alone a classic car. I'dve thought dave would've known better but then again they rev a cold engine from start up then turn it straight off, which I was told never to do, let an engine warm up gently, which can easily be done on the move instead of sitting on the drive.
My younger brother bought a brand new Volvo 300 in 1980 something, and on visiting our parents one day Dad said to him would you like some spuds? Yes was the reply ,right I'll go and dig you some up,when he returned to his car Dad had thrown a full bag on top of the bonnet ,Oh dear.
What a lovely early Capri. The XL was quite desirable back in those days. It was actually two steps up from the Base model (Base, L and XL). Back in 1970 my father had an Ermine White, 1300L which he allowed me to drive occasionally. It was a car that got noticed and the little 1300 engine ran like a sewing machine.
I had one just like that only red I think it was a 1970 with the dreaded 1300 cc engine I could not fault the car but it was under-powered I changed it after a while for a 1972 with the 2ltr V4 Loved it so much I kept it for 8 years I'm shore that you will find it a good home for the old couple.
Beautifully honest very early base model Capri - just wants recommisioning, detailing and preserving to last and not restored - far more interesting to see the few survivors that remain like this , showing care of ownership .
my first car 1979 was a 1300 xl capri JXC 834H the old man let me have it because it was a 1300, 2.0 fell into it 3 weeks later didnt bother bogging him down with the details though good old days.
Had the same in daytona yellow but beef the engine up bored her out skimed the head she was a monster .I really went to town on her jack the back up and pulled the front down bonnet scoops it was easy for me has i was a ford mechanic and knew capris upsidedown and inside out had 5 of them wish i had saved them all would be worth a ton of money now.😱👍
One of my pals had a 1300 Capri as his first car in 1978, aged 18,he thought he was the cats whiskers, slow old car, later he purchased a 2ltr Consul, nice motor for a 20 year old.
@@dcarbs2979 wrong, from wiki, using a double-barrel carburettor with 125 PS (92 kW), and in September 1969 the 3000 GT in the UK, with the Essex V6, capable of 138 hp (103 kW).
Why would you walk into a Ford showroom and buy a capri and spec a 1300? makes zero sense ,they are so slow, and use more fuel than 1600,there was also a 1300 GT with a twin choke carb slightly more perfomance and was dearer than 1600 L ..
Horrifically expensive to insure for a young lad back in the day, so the 1300 Capri offered the boy racer look without the expense, but obviously without the performance. Would have impressed the g/f. That's horribly sexist I know😅
Genuine car with original paintwork, and he throws the keys on the roof! 😮

Fair point
Yeah there’s nowt worse than cherishing something and someone comes along who couldn’t care less

@@chriswardlow9441Did it leave any chips on it 😊

Love it I'd leave it as is and enjoy it 😍
I do love the style of the car, also in love with the colour, be great to see who buys the car, and give it some tlc 😊

1300 is one of the reasons it's survived
That Engine is TINY!
Wow. I used to have a red one of these. I like many others my age, deeply regret not caring for it more.
My first car was a mk1 1300, soon changed it for an escort mexico engine, alternator and servo assisted brakes, great car
Lovely Capri
My uncle had a mk1 Capri. They didn’t come with a radio. He had the old Ford radio out of his Anglia in the car. That’s a lovely genuine car.

A rare motor now.

Brilliant job lads which your videos

I went on holiday to Italy in the 70’s and remember seeing 1100 Capris, and a 850 Escort. I can’t imagine how awful they must have been to drive.
Looks a good car do as little as possible to keep originality should imagine the 1300 is rare as hens teeth
strangely enough the 1300 is considered extremely rare now.
thats because they were not popular when new ! a tad underpowered
1.3 gotta be a good economical car. looks like a fiesta engine.
Dave needs a clip on Mic, when he moves from camera there is little voice to be heard.
Small engine for a big shell I don’t think we had the 1300 in Australia
Wow, how has that survived all these years ? Shame. It's not a 3.0, but it's just as interesting
If it was it’d of been passed round like your mum
When cars were mechanically simple and could last almost forever ......
It's going to end up with a different engine in it for sure
Shame this wasn’t a six cylinder .
I’d settle for a 2litre like my dad had. On an H plate 1969.
6 cylinder weren't available in 1969.

Good Capris are rare and a good Mk1 is like hens teeth as they just rotted away over the years
Lovely early Capri didn’t realise Ford were still fitting cross ply tyres in 1969 horrible in the wet.
Nice looking cars but totally overrated in all departments
