There is no description for the beauty of Svetlana Zakharova in this role, a beauty that only those as flexible and lyrical can achieve -- and with the amazing partner, David Halberg. Miss him at the Bolshoi. You can tell immediately, without prior knowledge, that the swans are not Bolshoi swans.

Romel Williams There are some other very beautiful Russians - the Misses Yulia Makhalina and Ulyana Lopatkina.for example. There is a full length Swan Lake on RUclips of the former from The Kirov and plenty of excerpts of the latter. See what you think....

I fully agree with Romel Williams, for me too there is no better Odette/Odile
      Than Svetlana Zhakarova.

Halberg may be a technically fine dancer, but he leaves me totally cold. He projects absolutely no personality at all. There's nothing going on in his face or in his eyes throughout this entire scene.

DavidAsset78 couldn’t disagree more. Perfect backdrop for Svetlana’s divine art.

@DavidAsset78 - You have obviously never watched Marco Spada.

I have seen him 3 times this year, in Romeo and Juliet, Giselle and Manon. He was partnered twice by Miss Osipova and once by Miss Zacharova. I spent all the time watching him, as he is not only technically superb, but absolutely commands the stage. He is the only dancer I have really gone out of my way to see live. Luckily for me he is guesting with The Royal Ballet for the 2019/2020 season, but I flew to Milan for the performance of Giselle. He and Miss Zacharova were so well received at La Scala.

I see what you're saying, but he is definitely still an exceptional dancer, and a very strong partner. Who knows? Maybe he was injured during this performance? As beautiful as this looks, there is still a lot of strain on the body especially for the male dancer. Would you pay a ticket to see a dancer struggle on stage? Their role is to make it look flawless, and they BOTH achieved it.
