My comment is appearing late because I discovered Sergei a few months ago. I became so hooked after watching Dancer. I have since watched so many of his videos. I love him! I am aware that he has moved on a great deal in the world of dance since Dancer but he is so talented that he doesn't disappoint in the contemporary genre! Nevertheless, I really love watching him in classic ballet, I think that he is so convincing in the narrative here, it is very touching. Now, I am not surprised that he has attracted film producers and that he has been acting. It makes sense to me. He can act so convincingly on the dance floor, he can continue in a film set. His fourth film "Passion Simple" made from the story written by Annie Ernaux might be a great success, I really hope so! It has been presented this year in Le Festival de Cannes. It will be released soon on 19/09/20 en France ... I think it will cross the Channel later....but I believe he will not disappoint. I wonder if he will be speaking in French ...I hope so because I would personally prefer hearing a tinge of his Ukrenian accent! This man has not finished to touch our heart because he is simply amazing. 🥰

Thank you dear Karen. This performance was sometime after his leaving the RB. I, too, miss his classical performances... he is perfection, and it seems such a tragic waste... as I once said to a modern dance instructor (and this comment got me my first unsatisfactory mark in college lol), modern/contemporary/etc is for people who can't do at ballet lol. I hope against hope that he will not forego his roots.
Is Sergei still capable of this technical purity? Watching Romeo and Juliet, I noticed a decline in his precision... quite a dramatic one . Did anyone else? Pam?
@@kathyschultheis4382 I haven't ever had the privilege of seeing Sergei dance live, but can speculate that reading between the lines of all his various activities with acting, modeling, and collaborating with and nurturing other artists through Project Polunin and his scholarships and game show activities and family life, it's unlikely he is still putting in 11 hour days strictly practicing ballet. So, it would make sense if his precision is off more often in some of his performances. I'd be disappointed to see him on an "off" night, and was disheartened reading some peoples' feedback of some of his more recent performances. However, when I watch something like his performance in the MALFA video, released less than a year ago, to my untrained eye, yes, I believe he's still capable of this technical purity and precision. Even if it's not a classical ballet performance, I still find the precision of his lines, the flow and passion in his movement, the speed of his pirouettes, and of course, the height of his jumps are still just as breathtaking as ever. That is all, of course, seen from my untrained eye. I'm not a dancer, I just know what thrills me to watch.
