I’m still using my 6th gen but I’m so so tempted to sell my MacBook and iPad both to switch over to the iPad 4 completely as my sole device and then just get the magic keyboard, especially because it seems powerful enough for the transition and unlike when I tried using the 6th gen as my sole device it didn’t work out because of size and not having a keyboard for it, otherwise I’ll keep my Mac and just sell the 6th gen and save up for the air

I don't get why Apple doesn't do 128gb for the air 4, I feel 64gb is bit small but then the 256gb is too much and expensive...I suppose this is a way apple makes money.
I feel the same way, 64 GB is way too small for school work and stuff. But the difference between the storage is 170 euros. I would rather have a midway for 70 euros extra or something
@@Iamme0101 I think it depends what you want to do with the iPad? I’m thinking of buying a iPad for college. Since the 256 GB on my laptop isn’t enough for all my documents I’m doubting 64 GB will be enough on the iPad 😅
It really isn’t small. I use the 64GB iPhone XS Max and can’t even fill 10GB of it’s storage. On the other hand, my iPad 8 with 128 is packed with math homework about vertex and algebra but I kinda feel like I could’ve lived off the 32GB version. So 64 is definitely enough.
Okay, I have the 8th generation, it is amazing! Sound quality is awesome, picture is just incredible and no lag! I would always get this over the air I think a lot of people see the colour, and say, ‘Omg! It has colour I like that one!’ But you have to remember what is INSIDE the IPad not on the outside, so yes I would recommend the 8th generation! 😁
I would love an iPad 8th gen for Christmas, and honestly I would love the new one but I’m going to put a case on it either way so I won’t see the colour but honestly the iPad 8 is a lot cheaper and it’s a rlly good iPad so I agree 🙌🏼
The non laminated display is louder when writing on it which is a quite a big problem. In school it's definitely noticeble. The noice problem was the biggest point why I updated from a non laminated screen ipad to the iPad air 4. This point is in nearly no review but should be definitely mentioned.
@@michelew3968 the non laminated screen has a small gap between the display and glas so if you write on it with the apple pencil every time you "hit" the screen it makes a louder noice. There are very few videos on RUclips which show this but if you have the screens side by side there is a big difference
Currently waiting for my iPad 8! I went from wanting a Pro 12.9, to the Air 4, and finally to the 8 Gen. It was mostly due to budget but I realised that the 8 Gen already has all the features that I mostly need for college, some light gaming and occasional Netflix.
I’ve been using iPad 8th gen for school and Apple Pencil 1st gen. Honestly if you’re not bothered loads about the laminated screen, charging the pencil using the adapter/iPad port, and less screen space, then it’s really not that bad. Plus it’s a lot cheaper than other iPads and if you still use a headphone jack, it’s got that.
I personally ended up going for the iPad 8th gen. Mostly because of cost. I figured that if down the line I decide I want a better experience, bigger screen, and/or more storage, I can always trade in and upgrade that way. Not only that, the iPad wouldn't be my main school device. It'd be VERY useful for a lot of things, yes, but after having gone to an in-person apple store in my city, I didn't really see or feel much difference. So maybe one day I'll upgrade, but definitely for now, the iPad 8th gen works best for me :)
I was planning on buying the iPad 8th gen but decided to just purchase the air 4 because I had the money otherwise I wouldn’t have gotten it. It honestly is the best thing I have ever purchased for school. The full screen is much more aesthetically pleasing when I use it with a keyboard case. If you do not plan to use your iPad as a computer, the 8th gen is probably not a bad option for you.
This is the video I need right now, as I need a new ipad and I'm going to start using it for school! (So far I'm set on the Air 4 but want to make sure I'm getting my money's worth)
It’s a pretty cool device! If you’re only using it for notes just go with the iPad 8!! But if you’re using it for drawing it really does make a difference.
@@toi.7606 Drawing is a definite thing I’ll be doing with the iPad (actually just finishing up my computer art course on virtual school), so thanks for letting me know!
I would rather wait until I can afford the nicer one so that it will last me for longer and I don't have to end up spending more money on 2 iPad's just so I can have one now.
@@lucygracetoth3133 But both iPads probably have the same product life. Just because one has less specs, doesn't mean it's performance over time is worse
@@ThePurpleFroggy1 Definitely not, the iPad 8th gen has an old processor it’s probably enough for two or three years at most, the iPad Air 4 on the other hand comes with Apple’s latest processor and there’s a giant gap between their performance. They are both great for now, you’ll only see the difference a few years down the line.
@@emilioarcenciel0059 nah the gap isn't that big the iPad processor isn't old either a12 is still going strong so it will definitely last more than 3 years imo ( a12 is the iPhone xs/r processor)
@@emilioarcenciel0059 sure, a couple years down the line air will be in a better place but the 8 will still be perfectly fine. I have an iPad 2 from 2011 that still runs well
I got the air because it’s bigger and newer i also got it because of the 2 gen Apple Pencil because the 1st gen is very annoying when it’s charging. I love the touch to open its very convenient overall any is good but ipad 4 gen is way more faster better quality and more convenient
I think its easier than having to do some pinching motion with my fingers. Just pressing a button is great compared to how to do it on the new iPad Air and pros.
I'm getting the iPad Air 4 after Christmas because although it's still very expensive for a student, it suits me more. In general, I like the design of the air more and especially the 2nd gen pencil is just more practical with the magnets. And at some time I could upgrade to the magic keyboard maybe.
I’ve bought the ipad air and just got the magic keyboard, and it is so worth it in my opinion. I’ve succeeded in getting the keyboard used (but still almost new) and yes it was expensive, it was worth every cent. If you can and have the money, go for it 100%.
@@XxEnkidiev yes thank you! Like maybe in the following semesters would be a good plan, I've heard from many people that it's worth it and I'm also planning on buying it on ebay
I just got both ipads (8th is for my mom and the air is for me) and I’m gonna say it not much of a difference, you will only feel it because of the edge to edge screen and plus the air is awesome in terms of writing notes. Over all: The ipad 8th gen is just as awesome as the air. The only difference will be is the over all design and aesthetic in terms of preference. PS. my mom was the one who chose to have the 8th haha, told me I needed the air more than she does cuz I’m a student and all that.
I bought an iPad 7 last year on Black Friday and I got $100 off my iPad 7 and I’m wondering if they will do the same thing with the 8 this year. I got the deal through Best Buy.
I recently upgraded from the 6th gen iPad to the new Air and I can definitely say the bigger screen is the biggest difference as it gives my hand room to rest on while writing and just an overall bigger canvas to work on. But in terms of actual notetaking, the 8th gen iPad is more than enough!
Hey I am thinking about doing the same thing (i currently have the 6th gen iPad and want to upgrade) However, I find having to spend money on a new apple pencil annoying (I already have the first generation apple pencil) May I know what helps u make the decision?
@@violaytchen hey, i recommend the ipad air 3 (2019) it's really good, it's also kinda same to the new air (unless u really want the new design, but u don't need to spend to buy another apple pencil) + it's much cheaper. so if u can still find the ipad air 3, that can be a huge deal.
I'm also thinking of purchasing my very first iPad for uni next year, and I'm set on buying the air 4 because if I'm going to buy something that I know I'll be using for a long amount of time, I'd choose the one that is more convenient (because of the touch ID by the unlock button, USB-C and magnetic thingies) and sleek (thinner bezel and bigger screen size). The price jump is my only concern but, I think it's really worth it. iPads for school are a really good investment to start with and I'd opt for the air since I have more time to save for it and it'll probably be cheaper the next year.
I got the Air 4 and I love it. No regrets in shelling out more on this one. It feels like I’m using the pro version already. If you don’t mind the price, go for the Air 4. But if you’re on a tight budget, it’s better to buy the Air 3rd gen instead of the 8th gen since the specs of the previous iPad Air still wins over the latest budget iPad for nearly the same price.
I ended up having both of these iPads lmaoo. My school provided me the iPad 8th gen for my course and the iPad 4th gen is my personal tablet. Honestly, after comparing the displays side by side, I can say that for me, the non laminated display of the 8th gen isn’t at all as bad as people seem to make it out to be. I like both of em’ and definitely stoked to be able to have both iPads to experience.
I have an iPad mini as well, and I love the small size especially because my hands are quite small, but I've been looking to buy an Apple Pencil and I realized none of them are compatible with my iPad because its only the 4th generation, not the 5th. So now I'm looking to buy a new iPad that is compatible with the Apple Pencil 😭🙄
I finally bought the 8th gen. I wanted the iPad Air but it’s so expensive here in Europe cause of taxes plus this is my first tablet so I don’t think I need the air cause I’m only starting with digital drawing. I’ve watched a lot of 8th gen review and it’s does a good job for a first tablet
@@anshdodi iPad 8th is actually quite big and has enough space when you split screen. I’d draw a lot and I’d be watching a RUclips tutorial and drawing using split screen and it works just fine. Literally depends if you have the budget for the iPad Air cause it does add up when you have to buy the 2nd gen Apple Pencil but as a first timer I’m happy with the 8th gen
@@user-hi3jr2sc6z I still love it so much! I will say that I do end up using my computer more than my iPad though. I have a MacBook so they’re pretty similar.
Really enjoyed the video. I've personally been doing digital note-taking for over 2 years and I have to stick. I LOVE IT. would never really go back to pen/paper. However, here's my personal experience on the budget iPad and help you guys out in whether to save money or indulge yourself a little. Previous iPad = iPad 6th Gen. - This had a 9.7 inch LCD display - Traditional Touch ID Authentication - Compatible with Apple Pencil, Gen 1. - Stereo speakers - Non-laminated display. Those are some of the features on the iPad 6th Gen. At the time I was really excited to have an iPad at all and the experience of ditching notebooks, binders, folders, and paper to just the tablet and the pencil made it more portable and streamlined. However, I eventually realized that because I do take quite a lot of notes, as well as multitasking the screen size was just too small. On top of that, I didn't like the sound when you write on a non-laminated display, because of the gap between the glass and the display itself, it will become noticeable over time. Also the annoyance of either having to charge the pencil by shoving it up the lightning port or using the small adapter that came with it, which secretly you are going to or have lost the small adapter. I traded my old iPad, along with my old series 3 apple watch and having education discount, I then purchased the 11 inches iPad Pro, wifi only, 128GB of storage in silver for under £500 and the apple pencil 2 for under £100 so in total it came to under £600 (this is the iPad Pro 11 inch, 2nd Gen). Now, most of you guys may decide that you won't need the pro and that is completely understandable. Originally I was going to purchase the iPad Air, but I didn't know when the pre-order date would be and I didn't really want to wait for a while until Apple announces a release date, so I just went with the Pro. Personally, if you want something modern with a new design and a new pencil then I would highly go for the Air over the iPad 8th Gen. Yes it is slightly pricey as the iPad Air 3 had the starting price of $499 or £479 and now it's a £100 more for the 64GB option... Apple can you stop with the 32GB and 64GB options and charging people a fortune. At least could you do a 128GB as a middle ground in the future? I digress, for students out there that want a slightly bigger screen over the 8th Gen and a new user experience, as well as taking advantage of the double-tap feature on Apple pencil 2 (which it's really handy when you're doing long note-taking sessions and lectures) go for the Air in either the 64GB or 256GB. If you really have to, then go for the 8th Gen but my advice is don't really go for the 8th Gen if you can avoid it. Hope this helps and again, thank you, Janice. Been watching a few of your videos for a while, really helpful study tips in each of the ones I've watched :)
Why am i watching this, im not even planning to buy an ipad, heck! I can't even afford an ipad, it's 3am, WHAT AM I DOING (edit) how in the world did my problematic comment gained 300 likes
Hey y’all, I kid you not I am having the hardest time trying decide between the Air 4 or the 8th gen, because I’m a first year college student and I want to make sure I’m making the right choice, both financially and academically. I have decided after watching this video and countless others that I’m going for the iPad Air 4 64gb. For it’s price I think it’s the best deal. While I don’t know much about the chips or the technical side. I want to invest on an iPad I can use for at least all 4 years of college without running into much lag. The a14 solves this since it just came out. The a12 is 2 years old. It just makes sense to invest a $150 to make sure it’ll last. Also the gen 2 Apple Pencil is huge for me as well. I’m hopeful that universities will open sometime and I feel like the gen 1 pencil has too many risks to it. It seems like it’s easier to break the lightening port if someone like your roommate or someone accidentally bumps into it. Finally storage wise... the 32 gb 8th gen feels like it’s too small to last 4 years and while the 64gb Air also seems too small, it at least gives me more wiggle room to keep docs on my iPad before moving them to an external hard-drive. This has just been my experience I’d love to hear y’all’s as well :) Also Thx Janice for being one of the few youtubers to do a comparison on the 8th gen and the Air 4. Most videos are comparing the Air 4 and the Pro (2020) so this really helped!!!
I agree go with the Air 4. If you plan on having it for the rest of your college career you will get your money’s worth. Don’t worry about having so much storage either unless you plan on saving a lot of high quality videos. I have used my iPad Pro for two semesters and I have used only 20GB, imo going with the 64 GB air is fine. If you are low on space at the end of the semester you could move those files to your laptop or an external drive and you will still have them. The ability of being able to stick the Apple Pencil on the iPad has also been a very good feature, one that I didn’t think too much about before.
for college i’m sorry to say but Macbook is the way to go depending on what your going to college for. Some classes in college need specific computer software that you just can’t get on a macbook. Be careful.
i love how she explained straight and not like expert hehe, bc every expert think that air is better in every aspect but how she pull out the writing the speed of tapping, i realize it feels the same. Now im thinking again about ipad 8 since i really dont need cameras or what ipad air offers hehe.. needs over aesthetic. Thankyou!
In my university, people will get an ipad to study, instead of buying books in paper. I think it's fine since buying a book for uni will cost like at least $60, which buying 5 or 6 books equal buying an ipad gen 6. And of course the fee is charged in my total tuition fee so it's not like I'm getting it for free 😂
Well, you obviously don't. It's just a whim that will be useful if you have enough money, but definitely not necessary unless you're studying a career that involves editing or working with videos and images 🤷🏻♀️
Rich people: looks at which one is better poor people (including me lol) : *looks which one is cheaper* edit 1: holy fuck stop liking this spare my life
I bought the 7th gen a year ago and I fell in love with the air 4 so I considered giving my iPad in trade in but it still a LOT of money. 1. the cost difference which is more than $300 2. a new apple pencil 3. new case 4. new paperlike screen. So I realize I just have to be thankful and focus on my priorities and, obviously, is not getting a new iPad because I already have one.
Was it worth it?? Like do u think it’s good for small business and such?? I’m 15 and I’m starting a business soon but I’m still in school do you think it’s good for that type of stuff?? Also I’m quite confused on how much it costs can you lmk?? Sorry for all the questions! 😊
I agree that a buget ipad model and an apple pencil are very adequate for taking notes for school. While I was in school that's all I used. The 9.7 inch even fit in my PURSE! It was very easy and portable for class and I never had any issues running note taking apps or storage problems.
i have the ipad air 3, And it is a great option, since it follows the traditional design of the old ipad, and has the functions of the pro, I really recommend it a lot since I feel that the pro and air4 are more necessary for people who need to edit photos / videos / drawings
I had the iPad 7 and loved it. It was fast and it got the job done. I wanted the Air 4 for the bigger screen and graphics, especially for my artwork. My Dad surprised me and upgraded me to the iPad Air 4 and I love it! My Dad also upgraded everyone in our house. He bought six iPad Air 4s. He bought all of them open box excellent from Bestbuy and they have been wonderful and have had no issues and you save a lot of money. The 8 is still a great, powerful iPad also.
I am struggling so hard between these too! All I care about is if it would be good for drawing. The iPad 8 is in my budget range but the iPad Air 4 seems so much easier to draw with
iPad 8th gen for simple work. iPad Air/Pro for real school work that requires more work than typing. I have the Air and use ProCreate for art classes and other animation tools/apps for school
My dad has the space gray iPad 8. I have the iPad Air 4 in green along with the second generation Apple Pencil with my first name written on it. I just got it last Tuesday. I also purchased the STM Dux Plus case from apple for iPad Air 4. It's a great case that holds the Apple Pencil
If I were to choose, I would prefer the iPad Pro 2017 because of the big screen, and it still keeps up in software updates despite being a 4-year old device. Also, it supports 1st gen Apple Pencil, which is good.
I’m planning on buying an iPad 8th generation soon since iPad Air is wayyy more expensive then I thought it is in my country. This video really helped me!
IMHO, when presenting specs and size of the screen {tablets, phones or laptops}, it 'really' is a better option to use a white, or, at least, a very bright color for the screen to offset the screen from the bezels.
I have the iPad Air 2 16gb. I’m planning to upgrade this year to the ipad 8th generation. I haven’t gotten a new ipad since 2016. Before the iPad Air 2 I was using the ipad 2 I had that one from 2012-2016. I tend to upgrade my iPads once every 4-6 years.
My mom and dad bought me the iPad Air 4! And the colour was sky grey bc they didn’t have any blue or green ! I didn’t really mind it but I loved it so much! The thing I didn’t like is the ICloud thingy I have so much notes and photos of school and stuff but it always says iCloud full. If apple made iPad Air have more storage it would be perfect!
I could buy the air 4 but I'm trying the 6th generation ipad 32 gb of my brother and I'm impressed I'm thinking about the 8th generation ipad for me I'm a social worker and that device do anything that i need for my professional work so i think that isn't the ipad for students only
For your information, I actually think the Apple Pencil one does stick to the side of the iPad 8th Generation.. This isn't hate it is just a tip so more people don't waste their time on a "fancier" iPad when they could get a cheaper one with better qualities, anyhow.
That magnet is actually a tree dots on iPad that were used for the magic keyboard, so it‘s actually not charging at all. I also have apple pen gen 1 and it‘s actually great since it only need 15 minutes to charge and it‘s good to go all day. And actually I prefer gen 1 because I can buy any apple pencil case without thinking if the charging will work when they are using the case
@@laav3nya Well.. actually I didn't I bought only the air 4 the comment was only to annoy Janice and have a bit of fun, see her second latest video and you will find another one of my comments (that one is ligit though)
I have had both the iPad 8th gen and the iPad Air now and i would say the air is definitely worth your money. The 8th gen broke in the first month i had it and the refresh rate was horrible. The air is really aesthetically pleasing and also provides better refresh rate.
I finally got the iPad Air 4 after almost a year of pondering. A snippet of an overthinker's thought process: - This is gonna be my first tablet ever. - My budget and conscience only allowed me to buy iPad mini 5 or iPad 8. - Going for mini because it's as powerful as the iPad Pro, and again with the laminated screen it's gonna be useful because I mainly use it with Apple Pencil. - Then the rumor with the new iPad mini, so I wait. - Spring Loaded came, and no new iPad mini :( - Looking at the longevity, I kinda stretched my budget to afford iPad Air 4 bcs it performs like a pro with apple pencil 2 and usb-c port! Screen refresh rate don't really matter bcs I've never owned a tablet before so I wouldn't know the difference lol Best decision tho. I got the cheapest version.
Still watching this because these are the two refurbished options from Apple currently (Oct. 2023) I am torn but leaning towards the 8th Gen because I already paid a lot for my MacBook Air 15 inch 2023 and I’m just going to use my iPad for note taking and secondary device
Hey Joao, I did the same actually. I sold my iPad mini 5 with my apple pencil first-gen and bought the pro with the second-gen pencil with education price, it was so much affordable than buying it directly and I think it worth because the experience is so much better with the pro. I am sure it will be grade upgrade for you with the air 4 too. I also considered buying air4 but I realized that it will just take so much time to air 4 to come to my county and because I already sold mine I need it as fast as possible. As I said, I think it is a worthy update for me as an engineering student. Also in my opinion second-gen pencil is so much more comfortable than the first-gen. hope this helps :)
I recently got the iPad Air 4 + Pencil 2nd gen as my first iPad combo. I cant imagine charging the pen whilst it is sticking out so blatantly. I'd imagine doing something and then seeing it break off and leaving the charging port clogged with the bit that broke off. Personally for me this was the best deal as it is basically a slightly downgraded iPad Pro. I also love that the pen not only attaches but also wirelessly charges so that you basically never have to "charge" it. As in, for the times I use it never really dips below 70% and when you attach it again it charges up again in like 30 min.
Apple does provide adaptor so you can charge the Apple Pencil 1 directly to the lightning cable. It’s there in the box. No need to stick it to the iPad. I wonder why not one reviewer I watch tell people this. Sure it’s still a hassle but it beats sticking the pencil to the iPad.
Only difference A12 in ipad8 and A14 in ipadair4, 10.9 inch true tone laminated liquid retina display in iPad air 4 and non laminated 10.2 inch retina display in iPad 8, ipad8 compatible with smart folio keyboard, and iPad air 4 with magic keyboard,. Long story short spend more and get the best or spend less and get the better.
I would go for the air 4. The biggest reason is the multitasking. The iPad 8 has the A12 Bionic which is noticeably slower than the iPad Air 4’s A14 bionic when it does come to multitasking. Also the iPad 8’s gap in the screen is very noticeable when writing, to me at least. The iPad 8 also comes with 32gb base model and the air comes in 64gb base model.
I was thinking of buying used because the storage on the ipad 8 is super low and I dont want to spend heaps, do you know if it's better to buy "pre-owned" or "refurbished"?
@@lori8934 refurbished items from official sellers usually come with warranty, so if they have any issues, you should be covered. With pre-owned items, you take the risk that issues could occur (such as battery issues) and you will not be covered. I personally took the risk and bought my iPad pre-owned, and for me it (and the seller) was great! However, if you can afford it, I would recommend buying refurbished from an official seller such as musicmagpie (decluttr in the us)! :)
A lot of people are kinda arguing on the part of which is better what isn't, so I just kinda wanna say this, Honestly if your price wise, the 8th gen would be better. Considering how the chip is just 2-3ish old it still works well. The sound is quite good because someone said it in the comment section and I've seen a lot of unboxings to know the sound is good. It is better then the iPad mini 5 for gaming, and school and digital art if you get the 128 gb. If your willing to spend more for school, the iPad air 4 seems like a good choice for you, the sound and quality is great. And the screen is great if you game or digital art, But if your quality wise, The iPad air 4 would definitely be better, as I've already explained. The iPad has great sound and quality, good for school, gaming, and digital art. That is if your willing to buy the 258 gb Overall, at the end of day. It doesn't matter if it's old, what matters is that it works.

But isnt the writing with the pen to loud?
@@Leon-jn4vn i mean if you’re able to spend hundreds more just cuz your pen sounds tad bit louder on gen 8 in your head...
The non laminated display is louder when writing on it which is a quite a big problem. In school it's definitely noticeble. The noice problem was the biggest point why I updated from a non laminated screen ipad to the iPad air 4. This point is in nearly no review but should be definitely mentioned.
whys that tho?
@@michelew3968 the non laminated screen has a small gap between the display and glas so if you write on it with the apple pencil every time you "hit" the screen it makes a louder noice. So true. Though I can afford pro, why spend the extra money on features I can care less about
@@user-ul6cb6ih4n that's a true comrade
I’ve been using iPad 8th gen for school and Apple Pencil 1st gen. Honestly if you’re not bothered loads about the laminated screen, charging the pencil using the adapter/iPad port, and less screen space, then it’s really not that bad. Plus it’s a lot cheaper than other iPads and if you still use a headphone jack, it’s got that.
What are you study
The first gen apple pencil can be charged with the dongle thing that comes in the box, therefore you don't have to have it hanging off the ipad!

@@lucygracetoth3133 But both iPads probably have the same product life. Just because one has less specs, doesn't mean it's performance over time is worse

What do you think the price will be on Black Friday? :'(
The iPad Air is supposed to be around only 50 dollars off on Black Friday but I guess that’s better than the normal price
I mean the price will pretty much be the same as the one youd buy with education price, $50 off
I recently upgraded from the 6th gen iPad to the new Air and I can definitely say the bigger screen is the biggest difference as it gives my hand room to rest on while writing and just an overall bigger canvas to work on. But in terms of actual notetaking, the 8th gen iPad is more than enough!
I did the same. It's a huge difference when writing notes.
Hey I am thinking about doing the same thing (i currently have the 6th gen iPad and want to upgrade)
However, I find having to spend money on a new apple pencil annoying (I already have the first generation apple pencil)
May I know what helps u make the decision?
@@violaytchen
hey, i recommend the ipad air 3 (2019)
it's really good, it's also kinda same to the new air (unless u really want the new design, but u don't need to spend to buy another apple pencil) + it's much cheaper. so if u can still find the ipad air 3, that can be a huge deal.
This is so smart thank you!
I ended up having both of these iPads lmaoo. My school provided me the iPad 8th gen for my course and the iPad 4th gen is my personal tablet.
- This had a 9.7 inch LCD display
- Traditional Touch ID Authentication
- Compatible with Apple Pencil, Gen 1.
- Stereo speakers
- Non-laminated display.

Hey y’all,
I kid you not I am having the hardest time trying decide between the Air 4 or the 8th gen, because I’m a first year college student and I want to make sure I’m making the right choice, both financially and academically.
This has just been my experience I’d love to hear y’all’s as well :)
Also Thx Janice for being one of the few youtubers to do a comparison on the 8th gen and the Air 4.
Be careful.

I've been waiting for this ever since I saw the Instagram story😊
Yay thanks for following me on Instagram!
Same
I've watched lots of reviews but anyone didn't mention of split screen situation. That was a good point . Thanks 💪🏻
Well this should be a bit early I already bought both the air 4 and the the I pad 8 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Extra points for identifying me
Why did u bought both😅😅?
@@laav3nya Well.. actually I didn't I bought only the air 4 the comment was only to annoy Janice and have a bit of fun, see her second latest video and you will find another one of my comments (that one is ligit though)

I bought the iPad Air 3 weeks ago & it’s amazing!! 🥰😊👏🏾
Came for iPad review, ended up with a 4 hour nap because of the voice
I like how the apple pen 1st gen has charging adapter and not needed to consume on the iPad battery (if you don't want it to stick on it)
aw man I love your channel my teacher sent me here and i'm glad she did
I have had both the iPad 8th gen and the iPad Air now and i would say the air is definitely worth your money. The 8th gen broke in the first month i had it and the refresh rate was horrible. The air is really aesthetically pleasing and also provides better refresh rate.
I finally got the iPad Air 4 after almost a year of pondering. A snippet of an overthinker's thought process:
- This is gonna be my first tablet ever.
- Spring Loaded came, and no new iPad mini :(
- Looking at the longevity, I kinda stretched my budget to afford iPad Air 4 bcs it performs like a pro with apple pencil 2 and usb-c port! Screen refresh rate don't really matter bcs I've never owned a tablet before so I wouldn't know the difference lol
Best decision tho. I got the cheapest version.
Refresh rate is how quickly the screen changes when you perform a function, for example, swiping between pages wil
Thank you! This is a lot more helpful than every other ipad air videos.
Me: Mom, can I have Ipad?
Me,after watching: Can I have your voice? ;-;
Still watching this because these are the two refurbished options from Apple currently (Oct. 2023) I am torn but leaning towards the 8th Gen because I already paid a lot for my MacBook Air 15 inch 2023 and I’m just going to use my iPad for note taking and secondary device
is it worth to sell my 2019 iPad with Apple Pencil to buy iPad Air 4 with apple pencil 2?
My mind: iPad Pro
My heart: iPad Air
My mom: iPad 8
My wallet: Notepad
Only difference A12 in ipad8 and A14 in ipadair4, 10.9 inch true tone laminated liquid retina display in iPad air 4 and non laminated 10.2 inch retina display in iPad 8, ipad8 compatible with smart folio keyboard, and iPad air 4 with magic keyboard,.
Long story short spend more and get the best or spend less and get the better.
I just bought an ipad 8 and I’m still waiting for my stylus ( because I can’t afford apple pencil😭)
hi! may i know what stylus did u get (what brand) ? & did you have any problems w the stylus?
I would go for the air 4. The biggest reason is the multitasking. The iPad 8 has the A12 Bionic which is noticeably slower than the iPad Air 4’s A14 bionic when it does come to multitasking. Also the iPad 8’s gap in the screen is very noticeable when writing, to me at least. The iPad 8 also comes with 32gb base model and the air comes in 64gb base model.
Personally, I’d go for a refurbished iPad Pro 2018 :)
oh my gosh why didn’t i think of this! thank you! you just saved my wallet
@@beatv13 no problem - you’ll get similar performance and extra features, in an almost identical design to the air!
@@Amelia-uw7nw I've never heard of that website I'll definitely check it out thank you so much!
A lot of people are kinda arguing on the part of which is better what isn't, so I just kinda wanna say this,
Honestly if your price wise, the 8th gen would be better.
And the screen is great if you game or digital art,
But if your quality wise,
The iPad air 4 would definitely be better, as I've already explained. The iPad has great sound and quality, good for school, gaming, and digital art. That is if your willing to buy the 258 gb
Overall, at the end of day. It doesn't matter if it's old, what matters is that it works.
i've been watching reviews/unboxings for weeks and i still dont know what to buy. i still have more time to think tho until i'll be avail in my local stores.
which did you go for after? are you happy with it? :D
