Good one, thanks and welcome back! "Metali" (metari) which is the combination of "metaru" (metal) and "matsuri" (traditional Japanese festival). So it's a "matsuri" influenced song and it's all about hyping the crowd and inviting them to dance and sing along. Musically, it's very groovy and funky. I love Su's clean yet aggressive vocals here. Really cool collaboration with Tom Morello who commented this: "I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I've been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of 'Metali!!' I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!". This was Momometal's first song as an official member and it was so cool she leads that "kabuki" (traditional Japanese theater) style interlude. Thanks for the shout out to the composers. Kobametal (real name Key Kobayashi, their producer) uses a group of them. Norimetal (real name Norikazu Nakayama) is my favorite. He's behind almost all my top favorites in any way. 🤘🦊

What a song to start the new Babymetal era with Momo as offical member. People were already complaining about the absence of the kawaii factor in the "The Other One" album released earlier that year with only Su and Moa being official members. Metali and Ratatata show that they preserved their cute and playful style, they seem to have more fun back as a trio than ever before.
In this Tom is only on the video screen, while he did do the guitar at the end for the studio and official video, in this it is actually one of the members of the Kami band doing the guitar for his part. Your first video had the original 3 members of Babymetal which as I'm sure was said on that video was Su-Metal, Moametal and Yuimetal. Yui left the band in 2018 due to undisclosed health issues, so in this you saw the current lineup of Su-Metal, Moametal and Momometal. This was also the first new song that was released by Babymetal after Momo joined officially. Though she has been a part of them since 2019. Though back then, she was an avenger and thus did not do any vocals. As you saw in this, she is also very much a metal vocalist showing her fangs with "Are you ready" Next up I would suggest either Headbanger Live @ Legend 1997 for an earlier song or Monochrome Live @ PIA Arena for a more recent one.

At 4:30, 'I said everybody gets low', hey, that is Su-'s order!, why though, haha. The song title ‘メタり’ is coined by combining ‘meta’ (メタ), the Japanese Katakana word for English, 'metal', and ‘ri’ (り) in HIragana, the Japanese word for ‘matsuri’ (まつり= festival). The Japanese word ‘り’ is ‘ri’ in roman-writing of Japanese grammer. But 'ri' is pronounced with the tongue attached to the upper jaw in Japanese, so it is similar to the pronunciation of the English, 'L'. So maybe ‘metali’ would be a better name for the song in English. It's complicated, lol. Anyway, it's a fun festival song. Is this the second song from BM you reacted to? It has a lot of good songs, so have a pleasant musical journey with them. Thank you from a big fan of BM in Japan!
