Hey sweet friends! I have a MASSIVE DIY project Im sharing today! I painted my couch!!! I know this sounds kinda strange but Im going to show you my method to this beautiful couch makeover. I hope your excited -- I know I am!! Let me know what you guys think!

It! :) I worked with Linsy Home and updated to another couch. Fits our space so much better- my bestie took this one for her basement/ kids movie space! They are loving it!

This came out great I painted my gray fabric futon with black acrylic paint and it came out looking like a whole new leather futon I am proud of what I accomplished 👌🏽

Thank you! I have the same sofa here in the uk and been looking for videos on how to dye it as it has faded in parts due to the sun. Just shown my husband as he wasnt convinced dying would work. After seeing your video I'm hoping he will change his mind... fantastic result!
Well was by the window forever- and I never had a problem with it fading. BUT I sure hope this helps! :)

Well done! I’m so grateful that you made this video. My discontinued ikea couch is stained and I have been dreading having to buy a new couch or spend the hundreds of dollars to get new covers made for it. Problem solved! I was looking into a leather look fabric anyway so this will be perfect 👌

What a fantastic result. Yes, the couch looks leather now. Question: IF YOU NEED TO CLEAN THE COUCH, WILL SOAPY WATER CAUSE THE PAINT TO COME OFF?
As far as I’ve read, no, because once it dries, it’s “seals” so to speak. But I will definitely keep everyone updated as so how it holds up!
Looks awesome. Fantastic job. I've watched a few of these vids and have 3 chairs to paint. Personally, I would start at the top so I wouldn't have to lean over wet paint lol.
Hahaha!! I didn’t even think about that- even when watching it back! Hopefully I won’t be doing something so big again but chairs would be great!!! You will have to let me know how they turn out! What color are you thinking? 😍
@@AshleighPhelps I am thinking in the gray area. I just painted my late husband's faded red hunting trailer a gray cement and gunmetal gray color. Gonna use it for storage I stained my cedar siding black a few years ago. Just painted my front door a cement gray. Omg I love it. I'm obsessed with gray and cement right now. Can you tell lol?
@@AshleighPhelps Seriously tho, you did a fantastic job on your couch! What a big job. I love love love it! Thinking about painting my patio cushions as well. Old pillows could be done too to liven them up. And lamp shades and chair cushions instead of buying new.

Oh that’s a good idea! I thought about doing that for my outdoor cushions too and then my mom surprised us with a set- so I didn’t get hands on that diy! But I’m interested in trying that too!

Awe thank you so much!!!!! Chalk paint is so forgiving too- so it’s hard to get it “ wrong” but a couch was a whole other ball game for me- and I’m super happy with how it turned out!
Impressive. I was looking for videos to see if anyone out there has ever painted outdoor fabric cushions with some sort of canned exterior latex. I figured if it doesnt come out of your clothes it's got to adhere to outdoor fabric. Any thoughts as to whether or not anyone has tried it?
Oh that’s a great idea!! I would still totally do this method! I think it would work nicely. Depending on the heat- I can see maybe it fading over time…. But that’s really with any outdoor furniture. :)
Wondering if you could go light to dark? Also have you ever painted a rug that is plush but not shag?? Loved to hear your thoughts.

Really well!!!! I’ve wiped it with no problems! It has not been shampooed- but it sinks into the fibers like a stain, so I would think it would be fine as well. :)

Wow absolutely looks great. I have the same couch and I am wanting to re do it. After it dried did u have any issues with the color rubbing off at all?
Thank you!!! It doesn’t rub off at all! Once it dries- it dries into the fabric like a stain. I can wipe is down as well. Now I will say I haven’t tried to deep clean it with a carpet/fabric cleaner or anything but I’m picky about my couches anyway. I don’t let kids put their shoes on the couch or allow the animals on the couch either so I really only need a wipe down here and there and I just use disinfectant wipes. Hope this helps!!! :)

I use disinfect wipes and don’t seem to have a problem so far- I definitely will do an update video at some point though! :) ty for watching!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

@AshleighPhelps I steam cleaned my couch, and the buttons rusted. I hand washed and used salt and lemon. I bought different rust removers. I'm losing my mind 🤪 I'm going to try your technique. Wish me luck 🤯

I always wondered if the couch has any order after painting it? and how is cleaning it?
Not at all! It’s sinks in like a stain so I didn’t experience any odor. And I very picky about my couches. I don’t let kids eat on them or pets in them. I usually wipe down with disinfectant wipes or use dawn. I haven’t had any issues I’ve come across so far! :)

Yes mam!!! Once it dries down your perfectly safe! :)
What are you spraying on it and why?
Its just water! :) It keeps it damp and allows the paint to soak in and act as a stain. :) SO, when it dries, it doesnt transfer. Hope this helps!
How many coats did you have to do?

Hahaha!!! No- you didn’t! It absorbs into the couch fabric and dries. So the paint isn’t actually sitting on top of the couch. Does that make since? So once it dries, it’s there forever and it doesn’t transfer. :)
@@AshleighPhelps Great job!!! I was about to ask if it does not stain your white (or any) clothes? What if you pour out unintentionally some water, etc., will it stain?
I haven’t tried that yet- but I’ll “ spill “ and see what happened and let you know! :)

Holding up great!! I have never deep cleaned it ( since the chalk paint) but im really funny abouy my couches- no shoes or eating on them. And I wipe with disinfecting wipes. BUT it acts as a stain so i think it would be perfectly fine honestly! :) I hope this helps!
Is your couch microfiber by any chance?
It was second hand but I think it was a microfiber blend.
Just did this and mine is staining a week after my final coat. I even waxed it after :(. Any tips for this?

I have this office dividers, they are fabric but the inside is like cardboard
Ok!! That makes since! I think it would be perfect for those!
Since it’s got that cardboard material inside. I’d say do it in steps- so you don’t completely soak it. So maybe do the first layer- let it dry completely and then the next layer… and so forth based on your color and how solid or deep you want the color.

I tried this on a brown couch with a matte black paint. The material is stiff feeling now and not soft. 😢

That sofa is way too big for your space
Welp, I actually took a chair out to make it smaller! 😜 but we have a lot of people over at once ( big fam) and it seems to work better than two different pieces. There tends to be more wasted space. But your not telling me anything new 😜
