whoever will sing with me this beautiful hymn is my brother and sister. my heart overflows with joy at the beautiful words of invocation to Our Lord and Master.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (November 14), we sang this as our Hymn of the Day. It is #815 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.
It's not a "Catholic" hymn. The tune is 'Houston' and the lyrics written by Kathleen Thomerson who is a Protestant. It's a Christian hymn to be enjoyed by all.

Thank you for not rushing this! Everyone and his brother sings it as if they're going to a fire!

One of the most beautiful Catholic hymns I have ever heard

It is one of my favorites too. We sing it often in the Episcopal Church. It is #490 in The Hymnal 1982.
Preach!
Actually, its originally a Lutheran hymn. But of course popular among several denominations. :)
The composer and lyrics are by a Lutheran.
