If the Canucks want to make a big playoff run, their top players have to step up in these big games. Yeah, they could use another top-6 forward, but when Myers and Juulsen are your leading/only scorers and your stars are nowhere to be found, that's a problem.

I wonder how many people knew how good Lowry was going to turn out just a couple of years ago. He is immensely tough, hard working, smart, and occasionally shows that his skill level is pretty high, as well. I've been a fan of his energy from the start of his career. I hope Dakota Joshua can continue to play similar to Lowry for the Canucks. They'll both be great assets in the playoffs.

Too bad CBC/Sportsnet brain trust made no attempt to analyze the first head-to-head meeting of the two big trade acquisitions for the Canucks and Jets, especially as they were matched up against each other often during the game. After their first meeting, it is advantage Monahan and the Jets. Aside from the faceoff performance (Monahan won 4 of 6 faceoffs against Lindholm), and Monahan's penalty kill against Lindholm, check out which Canuck player failed to check Monahan on his goal.

The Canucks outshot & outplayed the Jets for the majority of the game, but Connor Hellebuyck showed once again why he is the best goalie in the NHL this season as he completely shutdown the Canucks from scoring any goals in the 3rd period... On a different note, Boeser looks completely lost out on the ice over the past few games...Speaking of lost, what has happened to the Canucks Powerplay over the last 6 games? Head coach Rick might want to address that before Vancouver heads out on the next road trip...Overall, tonight's game was entertaining, & very much had a playoff vibe to it...

Quinn has been goofing up often too, bad passing every now and then and not shooting.

Nucks are going to get sweep comes the playoff, they wont have the cap to resign Pettey and because of that, their line will start having big problem, Lindstrom is not going to resign with them so they will still lack a 2C .. and next year they will be back to .500 hockey..
They went all in with a trade that was high risk. Trade likes that should be made by teams that have playoff tenure likes the Canes.. This is the nucks first awesome season and they just gambled it all away. Sad.

There were missed calls over the ice. I don't know what Miller was thinking when he checked Scheifele when he didn't have the puck. One thing that I have to bring up is players throwing their heads back when a players stick or elbow doesn't come near their face. The league has to stop hockey turning into soccer. My suggestion is that for every penalty that is called on the ice where a player has obviously faked contact from an opponent to draw a penalty, such as the "elbow" on Pionk from Hooglander tonight, should get a 1 game suspension. This would have to be done after the game and the league could alert the team that the player has been found to have been faking the contact. Next transgression should be a 2 game suspension. Too many close games are being decided on the powerplay (not this one) where, when the replay is shown, you can clearly see that a stick or elbow hasn't even contacted the player. The league has to get a handle on this! (BTW, I looked at the replay of that "penalty" about a dozen times and he doesn't even get close to his face.)

Canucks have zero top end talent appearing in games right now. The top 6 is doing jack squat. The power play is abysmal. The Jets was the litmus test. They failed. They look to be a one & done team. Petey looks like he doesn’t even want the puck & he’s a turnover machine. He is a nightmare on the point on the PP. Boeser is in the witness protection program. He’ll be lucky to get to 35 goals. He has no shot nor does he shoot. Miller tries to do it all. Hughes has dried up offensively as well. Better that this poor play happens now. They’ve got to work out the kinks on the PP for the playoffs. As it is now, it would be better if they decline it.
The Jets are legit. They’ve got superior goaltending & forwards. They could make a run. Canucks are about two quality top six forwards away. The team is fading down the stretch, especially on special teams. It’s one of the worst powerplays I’ve ever seen.
