Simon Crum was one of the pseudonyms that Ferlin Husky played under (he had a few, but Simon was by far his most famous). The two characters that he is doing at the beginning of the song are the two main characters from the old-time radio show Lum & Abner. In the rest of the song, he is imitating famous country singers Webb Pierce (who sang the song More & More), Ernest Tubb (the deep voice) and Kitty Wells (who is obviously the female voice, lol).
The three people that he was imitating were Ernest Tubb (the deep voice), Kitty Wells (obviously the female voice, lol) and Webb Pierce (singer of the song More & More).
Hey thank you very much for your reaction to this loved it! Ferlin Husky had a alter ego Simon Crum and I think he also went by Terry Preston at one time also. I think he got the idea for this song was other kind of music was growing like American Bandstand like rock and roll music! I think Ferlin Husky heard someone say so what do you think about country music and someone else responded I think it's here to Stay lol.
Thanks Rober for that one, haven't heard that one for a llong time. " Country Music is Here to Stay " is the first single by singer Ferlin Husky with Capitol Records under the pseudonym Simon Crum. Ferlin himself wrote it. The song reached no. 2 on the Billboard chart. Wow , did you see now young Ralph Emery was there? Thanks Don for your befuddled reaction 🙂 My rating of 8.8 is based on comedic factor and creativity
Simon Crum was Ferlins alter ego, much as Luke the Drifter was Hank's, Benn Colder was Sheb Wooley's, etc... First is Ferlin as Simon Crum, then as Ernest Tubb, then Kitty Wells, then as Red Foley, and back to Simon, etc.
Not a big fan of colorization except for still photos, but this looks about as accurate as you are going to see. The outfits appear spot on. Never heard this song before. Funny and entertaining. What year was this? Man, Ralph Emery sure looks young.
That's fantastic! I didn't realize Ferlin was so multi talented, but he really nailed that! Thanks Don

Imitating Webb Pierce,Ernest Tubb and Kitty Wells a tad of Red Foley
Ferlin used the name Simon Crum on his humorous recordings same as Sheb Wooley used the name Ben Colder on classic country covers
Yup he’s doing imitations Ernest Tubb and Kitty Wells I recognized but I didn’t know that was Red Foley

Ok Don. Simon Crum was his alter ego. The deep voice was Ernest Tubb the female voice was Kitty Wells
I was expecting an answer to Danny And The Juniors' 'Rock And Roll Is Here To Stay.' I also didn't know Ferlin did comedy performances.
A very funny song. Thanks Robert for this song reaction request. Cheers!✌️
Hey your welcome!

I would like to request a Tommy Collins song, YOU BETTER NOT DO THAT. Tommy was singer-songwriter friend of Merle Haggard.
