I've been running Hagon Nitro Chargers on my 2007 T100 Bonnie now for about 4 years and over 60,000 kilometers. they well made and there has been no deterioration over this time. but be aware these shock are very firm. I've tried all different pre-loads to try and soften the ride a little and have the dampers set on the lowest setting but they still feel hard. at the time I bought them via the USA website as was easier than the UK website and worked out cheaper to send to Australia
I did the same upgrade on mine, I found that the springs 'bedded' in after a few 1000km's, and the ride quality improved. Handling overall is much improved, I also did the front forks. Thanks Stuart, keep up the great content, this adds real value to our community.
Hagon sent me a bottle of rock oil SAE5. fitting instructions are a bit vague and there are no drain plugs for the forks, so looks like a front end off job!?

Hi Stuart. I'm coming to this dialog well-after it was first initiated but for what it's worth I wanted to add my endorsement of the Hagon Nitro shocks. You accurately described my desire and reasons a year ago to improve the handling of my 2006 Triumph Bonneville T100. The stock shocks were OK, but allowed for too much bounce and mush on the California canyon roads where I ride. For all the reasons you mentioned - including price, esthetics and ultimately performance the Nitros have delivered the improvements I hoped for. Thanks for posting your insightful videos.

I spent some time with the vid paused at 6 mins as you'd thoughtfully provided that rear shot of the two different shocks. I have spent a lot of time messing with the settings on the stock suspension and its a bit of a double edged sword really. It is very typical of any stock supension system its not the best but not the wrost either. a lot depends on what you want it to do and what compromises your willing to put up with. most sunday afternoon riders will be quite happy with it i think, but if you rely on the bike for transport and do a lot of miles then an upgrade may be appropriate. its all down to the individuals needs and expectations really!
Yes completely agree Stuart. I use the bike for commuting 26 miles each way in the better months along some nice twisty A & B roads so those shocks really interest me. You've captured nicely how they work which is such a bonus and I am certainly one for going on recommendations.
Its worth having a word with Hagon on the phone. part of my choice was aesthetic hence the Nitros, but the 2810s are famous for being a really good shock and may suit your requirements for £209. The nitro is excellent though!
Another quality product from Fillingham Film Productions.Hagon shocks in the Bonny world are well-known, but not quite as much for these Nitro versions, so it was good to hear that you obviously feel they are a true quality product. Cheers Dave
Thanks Dave, yes was originally going to get the 2810s as I know they are the usual choice, but then saw the Nitros which are sort of up on the next level and have a certain look about them that fits in with future plans. the stocks t120 shocks are not the worst in the world but I just felt they lacked control at higher speed, these nitros are cock on!
Thinking of changing shocks to Hagon Nitros next year. I am starting to see why others referee to shocks as being made with bobbie pins. After wearing them in for three months, I feel every bump on the road.

Just one thing that i am a bit worried about - i am 187cm tall Hope it is not a bit too small...
she is a small bike sir but that's the attraction! its like a moped with a 1200cc engine. I'm 183 cm tall if that gives you any idea! its up to you! to be honest at 6ft tall, all bike seem too small to me!

Very informative. Like others, I'm torn. The T120 shocks are so much better than my previous T100 but a little twitchy under load. It's whether it's enough to justify an upgrade. I found the same on the T120. the problem is that when you up the preload for a single rider ,it leaves you with no adjustment left to accomodate a pillion. of courseifyou rarely carry a pillion this would not really a pillion. these shocks have transormed the bike for me!
Nice review! These really seem to be quality items, I ordered a little stiffer replacement springs to our KTM bikes and those new ones were in rust after a week (at the sharp ends). Maybe they will expand sortiment... Had to paint them but seems when rust takes a position it stays... Stainless is a good idea!
stainless is a very good idea and very unusual on shocks. i dont think anyone else uses it. Hagon do make mono shocks maybe they do a stainless version for the KTM!

It sounds like these shocks would be a much safer option, something that is certainly top of mind for me as a beginner. Would the shocks you said in the video were a more traditional option from Hagon work well on both the T100 and T120? Please link the video on the front suspension upgrade if you reply. I am looking at a Norman Hyde DeCat vs the Motone X Pipe and the Norman Hyde Classics Toga vs the British Customs Predator Pro w/ dB Killer silencers. I would love to know what you think would be the best choice. Please reply if you have time. I want to make this upgrade when I complete the purchase of the new bike. I'm leaning toward the T120 right now but a little concerned that T100 might be a better choice as a beginning rider. I can't wait for when the time finally gets here for the next Basic Rider Course to be available so I can go ahead and get that behind me and buy a Bonnie.
Great review and thanks a lot for sharing this ! One question ... got just about 600 km on my new T120 and I have 2 “negative” experiences. One is the suspension I guess. When the road is curved in its length and you are riding on/over the high point of the curve or when the road is worn out by the wheels of heavy truck traffic the bike tends to slip sideways giving a flat tire feeling. Will that be solved by the suggested suspension upgrade ? 2nd is wind ... what windscreen do you recommend ? I have the original Triumph summer screen but above 50-60 mph my shoulders and head get almost blown off. Thanks for your advice !
Well I really enjoyed this Video today as I seem to have a problem with the suspension of my 2019 Chrome Royal Enfield 650 cc Intercepetor, the rear suspension, is so bad chopping and feels unsafe at 65 mph, the dealership have tried ajusting them but that has not worked and I was contemplating changing my Bike , I am around 18 to 19 stone, 6 foot 2 inchs, I do love the bike, and intended to improve the preformance by fitting the DNA air filter, and also the Booster plug as you have suggested in other videos that you have made ,but feel that I may be throwing money away , having this unsafe movement at the rear end, I do not know of anyone else having this problem and after watching this review of the Hagon Nitrogen nitro, custom shockers, was looking for some advice on this subject for the Royal Enfield Interceptor and do you think that Hagon would make an improvement, incidently I do save all your videos on the Interceptor and products that you mention for further viewing, having come back to Biking after 55 years, this bike has become my passion and I do not really want ot part exchange for another manufacturer, I have so far added the screen and the crash bars to her and she really is a pretty bike and certainly draws attention to the public. So I really do want your advice on what you think would be the best thing that I should do, as I do know that you also own an Interceptor. I cant fault them carl, i did turn down the preload slightly from the factory setting to get it how i wanted it . handling and comfort is now as near perfect as you can get. at the end of the day different people want different things from their supension, but i think the total adjustment range these have will mean most people will get a far better result than they could hope for with the stock units!.
Hello Stuart, I recently purchased a new 2017 T 120, and so far I'm very happy with it. I should advise I haven't ridden in over 43 years, other than a couple of rides on my Son's Harley Softail. I weigh 265 pounds (18.93 stone). Is the stock factory setting adequate for my weight? Would I benefit upgrading to Hagon?
Very probably Jay! there are al sorts of things to take in to account, if you intend carrying luggage or a pillion or both definitely yes! see how you go and get some experience back first and then decide. thanks for watching!

Hi, In the Video you recommend the shochu nitro with the number SN001.... When I type in the model t120 I get shown the 2810 shocks with the number 35002TTSAB. What's the difference and can I be sure the nitros are recommended for the t120?
Hi there. I am seeking to upgrade the rear suspension on my Bonneville T120. I drive city, just cruise. I'm 225lbs. Any recommendations for rear shocks?
I rode the demo Bonnie and found it brilliant, though the ride was on good b roads and dual carriageways. I decided to trade in my Kawasaki W800 for the T120, but am wondering if I did the right thing. I have done 250 miles and today did the longest ride of about 90 miles. I have a neck problem, but didn't have any problems with it on the Kwaki. Today, I felt neck ache which resulted in some pins and needles in my right hand. I got home relieved to get off of the bike and very disappointed. However, having seen this video I feel that new shocks may be the solution, otherwise it might be a sell on and forget motorcycling. On my return I moved the shocks up two clicks from the lowest setting that the bike came on. I took it out for about ten miles and found it to be better. A longer ride will tell whether it has improved the shock absorption as my body will let me know. I may still change to what you have recommended anyway, because I don't want to stop motorcycling as I've had to stop most other active things that I had done before, like golf etc. I can't quite believe that after paying so much for a motorcycle that I have to even consider such a change.
Well, two clicks up, though better is quite solid. May go back down one. To be fair, the bike is beautiful once it can get going on nice roads, but my honest opinion, is that in town in 1st and 2nd it is skittish, though better if I ride it at those times in rain mode. I have a feeling though that it might improve after the industrial oil is changed for synthetic after 500 miles. I'm pining for my W800 at the moment.
Thanks Stuart. I will have that filter changed when the 500 mile oil and oil filter are changed. I take it the ecu doesn't have to be changed and do you have the filter name or is it simply generic for that bike.
Hi!. I want to replace the suspension on my T120, it has 2 years and I ride a lote, sometimes alone and sometimes with my wife. Do you still advice the rear suspension from Hagon? I rode a new scrambler with a ohlins suspensions anda it was very smooth, special in old streets like those we have in Lisbon.

How much better are the Hagon Nitro shocks over the 2810’s? I’m looking at a pair of 2810’s but if the Nitros are significantly better than I don’t mind spending the extra money.
I haven't personally used the 2810s although they are highly regarded. you have much better preload adjustment with the Nitros, and the build quality is much higher!
stuart fillingham I decided to go with the 2810’s to save myself some money. The 2810’s have a good reputation, plus they are being customized to my weight and riding habits so I’m pretty sure I won’t be disappointed. I’m also going to install the Tech Bike Parts progressive fork springs and a British Customs fork brace. I’ll let you know how it turns out. I love my T120 and thanks to your channel I’m finding out a few new ways to improve the handling. It’s a great bike and as soon as I can minimize the wobble in the front forks it will be even better.
Hey Stu, Aram again I looked into the shocks and there is a distributor here in California. They want almost $600 for them and that seems a bit high even for California. Anyway maybe I'll look into buying them from the uk, but they might be the same price or even $100 cheaper. Are there any other brands that you'd suggest just so I can do a little more research? I don't mind plugging away on the internet but then how do I know what is then best. I feel like I should stick to a uk company for my uk bike. I added you on fb, so maybe some of the US guys might have an answer for me there too. Thank you for your time!
Hi again Aram these shocks are just under £400 here in the UK and as far as im aware they are fully made here. They are a heavy item and although im not sure of the current exchange rates, with shipping to the States i think you will probably be looking at a very similar price to the $600 you have been quoted. I would sya these would be the perfect choice for you if you live in a coastal region due to the alloy/stainless steel construction. Most shocks of this spec from other manufacturers will i am sure be considerably more expensive!
Awesome new video Stuart! quick question, how long do your tyres last? I am at the cusp of getting a T120 Black and my friend insists that the rear tyre especially will be buggered soon enough due to the low torque range
Tyre life is very good sir, I'm at nearly 3000 miles and there is no discernible flat spot that I can see as yet on the rear tyre! of course your manner of riding does have a big bearing on tyre life so this may not apply to everyone, but I would think 8000 to 10000 miles may be realistic for the rear and more for the front.
Well Stuart after watching along with subscribing several weeks ago you have done it! I am selling my 2012 Suzuki Boulevard 800 C50-T. This is the only style bike I have had for years but after considering I am now pushing 60 and your bike is about 160 lbs lighter, along with a larger engine so it seems there are many benefits too this decision. Advise if you can please, I have seen the black offerings from the 120 but they are blacked out everywhere. I love your black bike but still able to keep some chrome especially your exhaust. Did you have to special order that way? I just cannot give up all the chrome as they are marketing the blacked out version. Thanks for your feedback. While I may be a fan I am not sure my wife is! Lol!!!

Hi Stewart, how is the chain guard with these shocks? Did u have to bend at all, or replace? Mine t120 has the stock metal one, and just wondering before installation if I should also figure out the chain guard situation as well. Thanks!
Hi Stuart i follow you since long and i own a T 120 in India. I have added the front progressive springs from Tek and the hagon nitros for the rear. I think i haven't set the rebound settings correctly on the rear one.i think i fiddled with them upon arrival. Can you advise me at what no have you put your damping on . it would be a great help to me. do you have an email /contact no to connect with you. if its not too intrusive . cheers
Hi there is no point me telling you how mine are set up as there are too many variables. simply return your damping to the midway point and start again, be aware that each adjustment requires around 2 miles of riding before the valve open or closes to the required point so dont expect a change to register immediately! turning the dampening valve clockwise will stiffen the damping anticlockwise will soften it. adjust one click at a time before testing and do not rush it. you will get there eventually! have fun!
Hi Elijaz you will have to ring or email Hagon and explain what you are looking for, that way they can tailor to shocks to your exact requirements. I have to admit their site confuses me too!
I'm afraid it is just the way of the world these days! many of the big Japanese bikes are made in china these days and believe it or not even BMW contracts the manufacture of engines and other components to china! I really don't think it matters as long as the bikes are built to the right standard! if they were built in England they would be much more expensive for the customer and they would not sell. And I'm not at all sure that the standards of quality would be any better!

I replaced the fork oil as well. Wilber's zero friction SAE20

My fork oil is SAE 7.5 not 20!

I cant fault them carl, i did turn down the preload slightly from the factory setting to get it how i wanted it . handling and comfort is now as near perfect as you can get. at the end of the day different people want different things from their supension, but i think the total adjustment range these have will mean most people will get a far better result than they could hope for with the stock units!.
Maybe a vid on the Tec rear shocks?

Hello Stuart, I recently purchased a new 2017 T 120, and so far I'm very happy with it. I should advise I haven't ridden in over 43 years, other than a couple of rides on my Son's Harley Softail. I weigh 265 pounds (18.93 stone). Is the stock factory setting adequate for my weight? Would I benefit upgrading to Hagon?
Very probably Jay! there are al sorts of things to take in to account, if you intend carrying luggage or a pillion or both definitely yes! see how you go and get some experience back first and then decide. thanks for watching!

When I type in the model t120 I get shown the 2810 shocks with the number 35002TTSAB.
What's the difference and can I be sure the nitros are recommended for the t120?
Hi there. I am seeking to upgrade the rear suspension on my Bonneville T120. I drive city, just cruise. I'm 225lbs. Any recommendations for rear shocks?
I rode the demo Bonnie and found it brilliant, though the ride was on good b roads and dual carriageways. I decided to trade in my Kawasaki W800 for the T120, but am wondering if I did the right thing. I have done 250 miles and today did the longest ride of about 90 miles. I have a neck problem, but didn't have any problems with it on the Kwaki. Today, I felt neck ache which resulted in some pins and needles in my right hand. I got home relieved to get off of the bike and very disappointed. However, having seen this video I feel that new shocks may be the solution, otherwise it might be a sell on and forget motorcycling. On my return I moved the shocks up two clicks from the lowest setting that the bike came on. I took it out for about ten miles and found it to be better. A longer ride will tell whether it has improved the shock absorption as my body will let me know. I may still change to what you have recommended anyway, because I don't want to stop motorcycling as I've had to stop most other active things that I had done before, like golf etc. I can't quite believe that after paying so much for a motorcycle that I have to even consider such a change.

Well, two clicks up, though better is quite solid. May go back down one. To be fair, the bike is beautiful once it can get going on nice roads, but my honest opinion, is that in town in 1st and 2nd it is skittish, though better if I ride it at those times in rain mode. I have a feeling though that it might improve after the industrial oil is changed for synthetic after 500 miles. I'm pining for my W800 at the moment.
Switch to K&N air filter that smooth's it all out considerably! I used to have the same complaint with it but its all sorted now!
Thanks Stuart. I will have that filter changed when the 500 mile oil and oil filter are changed. I take it the ecu doesn't have to be changed and do you have the filter name or is it simply generic for that bike.

Hi!. I want to replace the suspension on my T120, it has 2 years and I ride a lote, sometimes alone and sometimes with my wife. Do you still advice the rear suspension from Hagon? I rode a new scrambler with a ohlins suspensions anda it was very smooth, special in old streets like those we have in Lisbon.

How much better are the Hagon Nitro shocks over the 2810’s? I’m looking at a pair of 2810’s but if the Nitros are significantly better than I don’t mind spending the extra money.
I haven't personally used the 2810s although they are highly regarded. you have much better preload adjustment with the Nitros, and the build quality is much higher!
stuart fillingham I decided to go with the 2810’s to save myself some money. The 2810’s have a good reputation, plus they are being customized to my weight and riding habits so I’m pretty sure I won’t be disappointed. I’m also going to install the Tech Bike Parts progressive fork springs and a British Customs fork brace. I’ll let you know how it turns out. I love my T120 and thanks to your channel I’m finding out a few new ways to improve the handling. It’s a great bike and as soon as I can minimize the wobble in the front forks it will be even better.

Hey Stu, Aram again I looked into the shocks and there is a distributor here in California. They want almost $600 for them and that seems a bit high even for California. Anyway maybe I'll look into buying them from the uk, but they might be the same price or even $100 cheaper. Are there any other brands that you'd suggest just so I can do a little more research? I don't mind plugging away on the internet but then how do I know what is then best. I feel like I should stick to a uk company for my uk bike.

Hi again Aram these shocks are just under £400 here in the UK and as far as im aware they are fully made here. They are a heavy item and although im not sure of the current exchange rates, with shipping to the States i think you will probably be looking at a very similar price to the $600 you have been quoted. I would sya these would be the perfect choice for you if you live in a coastal region due to the alloy/stainless steel construction. Most shocks of this spec from other manufacturers will i am sure be considerably more expensive!

I am at the cusp of getting a T120 Black and my friend insists that the rear tyre especially will be buggered soon enough due to the low torque range
Tyre life is very good sir, I'm at nearly 3000 miles and there is no discernible flat spot that I can see as yet on the rear tyre! of course your manner of riding does have a big bearing on tyre life so this may not apply to everyone, but I would think 8000 to 10000 miles may be realistic for the rear and more for the front.

Well Stuart after watching along with subscribing several weeks ago you have done it! I am selling my 2012 Suzuki Boulevard 800 C50-T. This is the only style bike I have had for years but after considering I am now pushing 60 and your bike is about 160 lbs lighter, along with a larger engine so it seems there are many benefits too this decision.
Advise if you can please, I have seen the black offerings from the 120 but they are blacked out everywhere. I love your black bike but still able to keep some chrome especially your exhaust.
Did you have to special order that way? I just cannot give up all the chrome as they are marketing the blacked out version.

Hi Stuart i follow you since long and i own a T 120 in India. I have added the front progressive springs from Tek and the hagon nitros for the rear. I think i haven't set the rebound settings correctly on the rear one.i think i fiddled with them upon arrival. Can you advise me at what no have you put your damping on . it would be a great help to me. do you have an email /contact no to connect with you. if its not too intrusive . cheers
Hi there is no point me telling you how mine are set up as there are too many variables. simply return your damping to the midway point and start again, be aware that each adjustment requires around 2 miles of riding before the valve open or closes to the required point so dont expect a change to register immediately!
turning the dampening valve clockwise will stiffen the damping anticlockwise will soften it. adjust one click at a time before testing and do not rush it. you will get there eventually! have fun!

What do you think about Triumphs being made in Thailand? This shocking to me.
I'm afraid it is just the way of the world these days! many of the big Japanese bikes are made in china these days and believe it or not even BMW contracts the manufacture of engines and other components to china!
I really don't think it matters as long as the bikes are built to the right standard!
if they were built in England they would be much more expensive for the customer and they would not sell. And I'm not at all sure that the standards of quality would be any better!
It's still Triumph motorcycles being made by Triumph employees in a Triumph factory!
