    Hi Stuart, based on your review I purchased these via EBay for $32 delivered to Australia. Fitted without issue to my 2013 Triumph Scrambler they have improved daytime visibility enormously. The spec H4 halogen bulb was a dull pale yellow and didn’t inspire any confidence in daylight conditions. This new LED is not only much brighter but the light an intense white that really stands out. Many thanks, Rick

    Thanks for another great video...
    I personally had a couple problems I did not expect (but so far seems I am the only one)... I actually had a problem getting the lamp piece removed, first because it seemed to stick or hang on the "tab" at the top and just to the left that hooks it in place (even while trying to pull the bottom out first and lift slightly up on it, and every other combo I could think of), the second was that my running light cable was so short (it was stretched tight no matter how I tried to position the lamp) that I had a really hard time both supporting the lamp and getting my hand in there to release the connector (there is a little tab thingy on it to help lock it in place)... wouldn't have hurt to have a couple cm more to work with.
    Then when I was remounting the lamp I lightly scratched the "bowl" because I shifted to the left a little while trying to get the wires in place and there is a gap between the lamp housing and the housing screw holder that lines up with the hole in the side of the bowl and it was possible to accidentally slip it in over the outside of the bowl, scratching it). Once I did get it in place, it was also tighter than I expected despite pushing the connector into the hole in the back of the bowl.
    Despite all that, I like the headlight and look forward to trying it out properly soon :).

    Looks like a nice mod even for my 1981 BMW with actual glass but with a weak charging system. I've already changed the taillight to LED to lighten the load. In marginal weather having to choose between heated vest/gloves and headlight isn't a fun choice.

    Just received mine. I ordered the same one you installed through Amazon Canada. We do not have the daytime running lights here, we are on automatic low beam all the time on our motorcycles, however, you can see the DRL’s are in fact on and when I lost my light on the second month they were all I had to light the way home. The colour temp of the halogen always bothered me as well. Makes no sense to me that they use two different technologies in the head lamp. Thanks for the video and blazing the trail.

      Sheldon, I'm in Canada too and have a T120. Did you have any problem with your highbeam switch not working? I haven't tried these bulbs but just trying to replace my Halogen bulb has been a pain. All the bulbs I've tried, H4 60/55w 12v, turn on automatically once they are connected and the high beam swicth doesn't do anything at all. I can't tell if they're stuck in high beam or low.

    Thank you, Stuart for a spot on how-to. I immediately went to the amazon link and ordered the exact bulbs you specified. I do believe the fan is there more to circulate air through the driver housing at the back of the led unit to cool it, rather than the bulb itself. This is the one part of an led that will build some heat, similar to a ballast in a fluorescent light fixture. Still nowhere near the heat of a halogen. Do you have any concerns without the rubber headlight boot causing moisture to be caught in the headlamp during a wet ride, possibly causing damage to the reflector? I try not to ride in much rain, but as you know too well it does happen! Thanks for all you do.

    • @stuartfillingham
      @stuartfillingham  6 лет назад +1

      Re the fan chad I concur! no not too concerned about the rubber boot, there is no evidence that any water has ever got into the headlamp shell so I dont think it will be an issue! but only time will tell!

    Good day Stuart.. I have already fitted led lights in my car and there was 1 thing that was very different between my lights (night eye H4) with your lights. My frame could be twisted of., (the H4 mounting plate.) This means that you could fit your back light rubber (if you would make a little hole in de rubber where the 3 slots are.) is that also something that is possible with your lights?

    There seem to be a number of manufacturers of LED replacement bulbs, some which are represented to have more lumens than the brand you reviewed. Did you consider other brands in recommending this one?

    • @stuartfillingham
      @stuartfillingham  6 лет назад +4

      Hi Jim, im afraid higher power is not always a good thing, These are DOT approved many of the higher power ones are not! I do need to consider other road users, and blinding them with a hyper powerful beam of light is potentially dangerous! i also need to think about possible repercussions from local law enforcement should they consider the light to be too bright.

    • @jameshhenderson
      @jameshhenderson 6 лет назад

      stuart fillingham So the implication is that 3200LM is the “sweet spot” for bulb brightness? I have no clue, just a lot of choices (too many), lots of discussion (I.e. www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/t120-led-light-replacement.10872/) and I would like to just lazily defer to you... as the T120 GOD.

    • @stuartfillingham
      @stuartfillingham  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Jim I tend to stay away from the triumph forum as I dont like arguing! im not saying 3200 lumens represents the sweet spot I just think that from experience with led flashlights it is plenty powerful enough! 2000 is in fact sufficient but that option wasn't available to me. for what they cost if you would like to try more powerful options let me know how you get on!
