Was really hoping that paper clip maximizer short would end with the earth as a giant paper clip. Also, very dramatic cut at the end of this video! The real paper clip was the clipped ending we met at the very end.
I think the idea was that humans wished for world peace and AI was like “I got this” and then killed all the humans… making the world peaceful.
It’s an example of the “wish” not matching the actual “want” just like the paperclip maximiser story. It’s the story of a bad genie
should end with paperclip on the moon with 2001 music
Wes Roth, my favorite AI channel :)
I take it you've never seen the "AI Explained" channel ;)

THE PAPER CLIP MAXIMIER GOT HIM TOO RUN-
"Actually it's only clickbait if it comes from the cliquebaite region of France. What I do with my video titles is just sparkling bullshit."
Damn EU regulations, what really is the difference between a shoddy title from Lyon or a faux theme from Lisbon?
lol
honestly you can't blame content creators though, they would not be incentivised to do it if google did not rank them higher in recomended ques
Hollyweird is probably safe for one more year before regular people with storytelling talent can replace motion picture production with AI generated content.
After listening to WAP I'm ok with AI being the end of humanity
Aubrey de Grey! I met him once at a conference in Berlin, I think in 2019. Filmed interviews my friends did with him (and other longevity players). Negligible senescence in AdG's way *doesn't* mean that one actually ages slower; one ages normally, but one would periodically (maybe every ten years) undergo a number of treatments to wind back biological aging throgoutht the whole metabolism.
something i'm waiting for, is to take a book and tell ai to generate a movie out of it.
Just read the book silly.
That's probably the only way for us to get a good Star Wars movie again.
@michaelnemo4593 wtf kind of take is that 😂😂😂 dumbest shit ive read today .
Aubery de Grey can not live forever, but he could transform into Aubery de White.
🧙🏻♂
The funny thing is he was this grey wizard already before the LOTR movies.
underrated comment
You! Shall not! Age!
Gotta fight the radioactive Balrog to do that 😅
*1.* The biggest technical shortcoming of this AI movie for me is the mimic-speech discrepancy. It is obvious that the characters' mouths are talking independently of their minds.
*2.* Ultimately who's going to be an acclaimed AI movie director in 10 years' time is not about their technical skills but about the artistic and intellectual merit of their creations. And that's a perennial truth.
I completely agree! The tech is accessible to everyone, and it's exciting to see the amazing AI clips being generated. I think for a truly great AI film, though, what happens after the clips are created is just as important-things like editing, pacing, and audio can really make a difference. I hope more creators start to focus on these aspects, and I believe that constructive feedback can be a valuable part of that process!
"It is obvious that the characters' mouths are talking independently of their minds." I seem to have this ability.

If you want examples of NotebookLM, The recent videos on my channel use the podcast generator, with some basic editing done.
Hay Roth. I like your show. But just a pointer. I think it would be nice to show Only the relevant parts of the film. And let other people explore the rest. You would be making your analytical point. And the creator getting his credit.
Good show keep doing what you’re doing. Just wanted to point that out.
Wes getting silly and I'm here for it
The sub's subsystems are operational
Notebook LM awesome time saver but you would think this could also take away from google ad revenue if you don't need to watch a video anymore to get all the important information from the video
Perhaps Google is willing to sacrifice as revenue for the sake of eliminating clickbait… but then again, how much clickbait producers pay for ad space?
This dude is LA LA land!!! He is worried about the table but welcomes ai with open arms and questions nothing!!!! He's intelligent!!!!

@3:03 yea it’s what kids listen to and it’s surprising it’s actual “known words” vs “new words”. You can always count on they are still car surfing, falling off, ending up in comas, though; apparently

Table: "Oh my God"
No idea if it's actually "big news" or just another "shocking" video with this channel.
I don't understand why any human would pursue longevity or immortality. That is just disturbing. No thank you.
I fed the Hipster Energy Club into notebookLM, as the file archive and also the URL, and it hasn't really hallucinated. Very impressive considering it's a bunch of new ideas imagined by AI in combination with an eccentric and unstable weirdo
Nvidia have been using AI for chip design for almost 20 years
Bruh Wes, I assure you all of your viewers are well-acquainted with what clickbait is.
I was expecting a paperclip to popup with: "Hey, it looks like you're experiencing an apocalypse..."
The problem is that video story sucks, it’s not interesting but for 1 time maybe. It’s essentially low quality sci if channel.
Does the narrator truly think that the robot-table is an important invention? Talk about 'grandizing the trivial'!!
Wow for all its little faults if this Paper Clip movie is just the beginning -wait 5 years. Incredible
i like the message at the end, video itself didnt make much sense though :d
im suprised the person managed to get AI to produce rockets and explosions, news media stuff etc. (censored in so many AI).
also hyped for self-improvement cycle of AI. i really hope humanity doesent fuck this up with their greed and idiocy. so much untapped potential and its a point in time where decisions not only decide the outcome of humanities prosperity but also the prosperity of life itself (assuming we are the only life in the universe - even if not, who says the "other life" meanages to digitalize. maybe we have smth unique here whatsoever. would be a shame to fuck it up and not explore the rest of the universe, get wrecked by a cosmic event at one point or another. we need to spread and thats only possible if we stop being biological lifeforms and digitalize.
but yeah, short-term im just excited about my personal potential life-improvements. creating what i can imagine, consuming endless content, maybe UBI, longer life, incredible and customized games, easier learning, less sorting and other bureaucratic bullshit.... so much potential.
I'm thinking of the pepsi kylie jenner advert, AI can allow you to tell ANY story, but it can't tell you it's a terrible idea and you shouldn't do it
What an amazing AI cinematic video to be created in 2024, so early in the AI revolution. This is the first AI short that has truly captured my attention and moved me. It also carries a crucial message and warning that many should take seriously. Even the current LLMs recognize that we must train future AI in a way that instills human morals and values-otherwise, we may find ourselves dealing with something akin to an alien species.
Nearly didn’t open this as it looks like I’d already viewed it - your thumbnail has a solid red line at the bottom which is what a viewed upload looks like ….
notebookLM is great. it's ability to talk to youtubevideos now is more of a nice additional idea than it is a big technological leap ... since the transcripts already all exist.
Can’t wait for the cinema classics to get revamped and upscaled with AI. They will be re-released in theaters… that’s my really easily predicted prediction. lol
My assumption is that the video did talk about AI and Gemini missed it because... It's garbage
Wes. please don't use a red line in the bottom of the thumbnail, youtube also uses a red line in the bottom to indicate if you have watched the video, now I can't tell which of your videos I have watched. Thanks
The YT video analysis seem only limited to the transcript of the video, so if the video has more visual info, like showing a fabrication technique, the AI will point out the technique name if the instructor said so but will never describe how he did it. I think if they actually let the AI understand and watch videos not just transcript then that’s the day to be exciting about and a huge win for google since they own the most video info.
Abrut ending! Yes!!! We watch all your videos till the very end 😅
In theory, we are slowly getting closer but in practice there's still something unpleasing with any AI video I watch like a motion sickness, the way it interpolates between frames just there's something wrong with it, and I don't know what exactly 2 minutes of watching AI vid and I don't want to watch it anymore. It looks a bit like it tries to draw 2D image frame then displace it with auto generated displacement map and this technique is just not working well on me, it's great for short video memes though. Consistency with motion brush it's just not there yet, it replaces black man with white man in 8 sec cut. So what we are really getting closer to is getting broke on credits needed to generate what we really want.
Video cut off at the end. Even so, an excellent coverage once again! Thank you.
I think this is getting close to be acceptable as a new form of animation, sort of like Waking Life came out in the 90s. Not sure it will go beyond that.
The AI generated short film is about AI killing everything. Dude needs to pick a side. Is AI a tool for fun and entertainment or are you going to be a doomer. Seems like an ‘own goal’ here. Shot himself in the foot as an AI creator.
There are a lot of bottlenecks in Chip Design where probablistic and or learning algorithms ( I do not call AI inteligent at all since they have no emotional intelligence or empathy nore awareness of oneself so are not conscious, unlike living animals and humans.
Humans are obiously animals also but have ligh level brain functions that enable us to have complex emotional and psychological states. I guess social animals like Elephants, Apes, Dolphines etc have the same high level capacity but they have not chosen/evolved to reach the hights and inevitable lows that humans have evolved into) .
Anyways chip P&R - place and routing - are the mid-end of the design process.
They are another one of the optimisation process. Placement seeks to optimise area, power and speed at a lower representions of the chip functionality. It uses the netist (connectivity of the key blocks in the design) and then places their geometry (usually some oblong) into a digital space represented by the pads on the chip. The pads are where the wires connect the silicon that the chip is made from called a die to the packaging via wires being bonded to the pads and to the pads on the package. More advanced packages called Ball Gid Arrays have massive pinout capacity and are used for Microprocessors, Memory chips, DSP, Graphics and AI.
Anyways there are many placement optimisation algorithms and so AI will just be another one of those competing in this space.
Routing is a much more complex challenge and maybe where AI is best placed to beet conventional algorithms since one not only has to be constrained by the placement, one needs to assess the impact of the wire performance so its resistance, capacitance and for very long wires that carry high currents and high bandwith signals the wires inductance.
Then there are capacitive coupling issues between other signals and power lines that inject noise into the the signal line being optimised, that need to be considered and checked against timing constraints.
Each signal has to go through these optimisations. Fortumately designers are only very concerned about optimising the critical path at each of the design stages but at the place and route stage one can get stuck in an eternal loop since optiming for one critical path may result in inducing a critical path in another signal line since one has to achieve local as well as global timing constraints.
In chip design the highest perfornance chips that cost the most and are the larest and most power hungy have these deadly timimg loops. No even AI can get out of them. Designers will know they have reached the limit when they are stuck in this death loop of not being able to meet timing constraints at the routing level and only have two options. A- reduce the timing constraint by slowing down the critical path and thus the chip speed or N- doing the placement of the key blocks again but this time using the routing already done as a guidance for the new run of the placememt tool. In this way there is a back and forth between placement runs and routing runs to shoehorn the design into meeting agressive timing specs of high performance chips.
AI may also help by having a high level of predicting if placed chips will have any routing issues - commonly known as congestion .
I'm about to release my prompt engine to help facilitate the prompt batching part of the process. My program includes cohesive sound prompt generation too.
actually I really do need that kind of table, my small room... were too bright at day so i often move my table away from that spot, and at night i like the my table near my bed and at morning i like my table awaaay at corner I imagine when woke up wow spacious room...
Misrepresenting the thing you're going to talk about is a form of clickbait and hyperbole can be a form of misrepresentation
People can pick apart the video but remember that it's only going to get better and better from here. Look back just 5 years and look where we stated
Amazing AI movie ❤❤
In 2 yrs, I will fix GoT s8 😂😂
Claude told me theres a JiT compiler that talks to the cpu but it has to compile and iterate which slows the cpu down, so it said to make two, one to compile and the other to iterate, and the other one can perform other tasks when there is time aswell. It said it would significantly increase the speed of computers especially for things that talk to the cpu in realtime like games
Where I stand is I’m all for ai generated movies as long as they’re labeled as such. As soon as they start trying to trick people into thinking it’s real I’m out
I find the podcast presentation style very annoying for some reason. I hope they create different style choices.
Imagine having access to an AI that is able to generate videos with a high quality only to use it to create yet another global warming movie.
I thought Aubrey de Grey was labeled as a sexual predator. I see he survived it. I wonder if the sexual harassment he did on the two women are doing fine as well.
The last one was really astonishing, despite all the little AI-mishaps in the film. I´ve seen far worse real films, than this short one.
Awesome content, some timestamps in the video will be greatly appreciated!
That’s the best AI generated film I’ve seen to date. Really well done 👍
