Thank you for still existing, I dreamed, enjoyed and learned so much from your talent and listening to you again after so many years is a huge pleasure, you are the most innovative and original band of the last 30 years and this is told by someone who has made research his life, your music is in my veins
Jane’s addiction has two decent songs. They always were just hype. Soul coughing is a genre defying band that is immortal. Ps addiction stole all their art and art direction from one of the members ex-girlfriend s
Just as great as the last time for me in 1994!! My awesome Cousin gave me tix to 1st Ave, been enjoying Soul Coughing ever since, amazing still 30+ years later!! Great Show/Set & Video, 😊!!
This was such a solid show, thanks so much for recording it and showing us. SC is in rare form, everything is tight and full of life and energy. For whatever reason, watching Soul Coughing these days reminds me of the song The Mesopotamians by They Might Be Giants...You certainly can't say that no one has ever seen SC, but like the song says, "And they wouldn't understand a word we say / So we'll scratch it all down into the clay / Half believing there will sometime come a day / Someone gives a damn / Maybe when the concrete has crumbled to sand". Or in other words...SC isn't a group for the masses, but they're laying it down for those of us who understand and maybe someday the rest of the world will catch up.
Also relevant: "Hey, man, I thought that you were dead I thought you crashed your car No, man, I've been right here this whole time Playing bass (guitar)"
Perhaps it was just the effect of being there in person instead of video - but the show in Minneapolis/St. Paul was SO much better. No shade, this was awesome and thanks for recording and posting! They seem to have really dialed every aspect of the show up a few notches after a few more shows together. Unreal how great they are.
Saw them at The Warfield many years ago. I was next to the guy who kept screaming "IS IT A BEAR OR A MONKEY!?" He was not my friend, I do not know who he was. He told me he was sleep deprived and I prevented all the people around him from punching him out so everybody thought I knew the guy. At the end of the show Doughty finally screams "ITS A BEAR!... EL OSO!"
Glad I could see it live here, even better that you recorded it. Doesn't quite capture what it was like down in the crowd below though, but surprisingly good quality recording given the lighting!
Opinion: I think Mark makes or breaks it. The other 3 hold it down but when Mark gets it right it clicks. Love his jazz and training influences to play...samples! Also...it doesn't always fit the energy exactly and because...samples...hard to play like an instrument in those moments. I'm very instructed by this incredible group in that way. Stunning artists.
I am not sure. Mike has had some Really solid albums and tours himself. That being said. SOUL COUGHING was so unique and awesome it’s sad that it was take away from us. I feel similar about REM. I’ve seen SC like 6 times live and mike like 10
Drugs can make you a hateful person. But, getting sober and healing can put things back into perspective. I saw them last night in SLC and it was magical! You could see that they have put the past behind them. They also sound incredible 🖤
Have you been living under a rock or something? I hate comments like this. Completely undermining or ignoring the fact that Doughty has had an extensive, successful solo career over the past 25 years. Released several albums that sold just as well as Soul Coughing albums. Has a patreon that literally pays all his bills and then some. I guarantee Half this audience has attended some of his solo gigs. Soul Coughing will always be a part of his past, and I'm not saying they weren't amazing, or that it wasn't the Best part of his career. But don't deny him what he has accomplished without the other guys... the other 3 are successful in their own right as well. But whose name has the most recognition and has been regularly on the marquee since?... Doughty's.
@@brycehogland550 I have listened to Skittish Rockity a large number of times. I’m pretty acquainted with his solo career. “The dark is dropping like a spot of black ink squeezed into a glass of water” is one of my favorite song lyrics ever. But that doesn’t change the fact that Doughty is at his best when he’s with Soul Coughing. I’ll go back under my rock now.
@kleptoliapennyfeather6078 Absolutely correct! These guys together are at their most special space! You can feel it …. Like pushing dead air from a parking garage 😏. Doughty has done plenty…. But is absolutely at his creative best with these guys!
This makes me realize how far ahead of their time they were, especially Yuval on drums. There are a lot of drummers who have that feel who are great these days. Mark Guiliana comes to mind, and the way his kit and cymbals sound align with a lot of modern hipster drum tones and feels
I read in Mike's book that when he had the material to what became the album Ghost of Vroom, that he took it to the rest of the members of Sould Coughing and they basically turned him down, so he put it out with Scrap. That was a few years ago so maybe some required healing has happend since. Like you, I would love a new SC album.
they each need a viagra or 2 per member... lol but otherwise it's great to see the original 4 in good health and on the stage together again after so many years
@@angiesemler2408 Is this Angie from the old SSQ days by any chance? If so, hi!!! They're coming here to Philadelphia soon, and I cant wait. I'm taking my cousin who first gave me Bliss on CD in the summer of 96. Seemed fitting to bring her :)
I think this was the first show back... maybe trying to find the zone? He's definitely more upbeat than that, more full of energy in his solo tours. The last one I saw 5 years ago was a wild and crazy time. I imagine that will build back up to that, given time. I'm just thanking my lucky stars to see this, even on video. Watch Bon Bon on the recent late night show, it's right up there.
WOW! Never thought this would happen in a million years. They finally got over themselves.
Same I am freaking out
The thing I love about Soul Coughing is that it matches the chaos in my ADHD brain, and it makes me think better.

Soul Coughing back together? The world just got a little bit brighter!
it did
Thanks a bazillion for this. I reckon we'll still be watching this in 30 years. Already at 10K views, I'll come back to check in 2034.
Thank you for your service in recording the whole show. Cannot wait for Philly!!
Boston last night was phenomenal. Man they sound so good.
great to see them back together on stage ! proud to see a Repercussion Drumkit under Yuval able hands (and feet)
He's sounds amazing!
What's the story of Repercussion? Guess I'll look it up!
@@David_prod-eNGee Repercussion makes sound tailored drums - this particular kit is "weapon o peace" in olive tree wood

They're doing better than Janes Addiction

yeah but even Jane herself is doing better than Jane’s Addiction so that isn’t really saying that much

Utterly incredible. This tour was announced in June yet it still feels like a dream. INCREDIBLE🔥
Can definitely feel them getting more comfortable together as the tour progresses 👍👍

GREAT show, thank you for sharing it with us! I'm seeing them soon too, this was a great teaser :)
Always amazing to see these guys live. They put on an awesome show at the Palace Theater in St. Paul last week
Thank you for filming this! Big love from Australia
Thanks for posting!!!!! Seeing ‘‘em tomorrow!!!!!
WHAT THE?!?!?!?! I'VE BEEN OUT OF THE LOOP APPARENTLY. WHEN DID THIS COME TOGETHER??? FANTASTIC!!!
like June
Thanks for sharing! I couldn't get tickets to their show near me (well, "near" by a couple of hours' drive) so it's great to see what I was missing!
Great show last night! Thank you!
Im literally almost in tears i didnt get tickets to their 930 club show.....oh god i think its tonight too
So bummed I missed this. Last time I saw these guys wasin the mid 90's
Thanks - loved in the 90s when they were NYC based and now I’m on the other side of the world
Thank you. Thank you. Appreciate the share.🙏
thanks TJ
Amazing show 🔥🔥🔥 Sounded just as good as they did in the 90s 🥰 so happy they came back

Yooo, what kind of video camera did you use to record this? Please be specific. I love how the quality turned out as well as the zoom! :))
Two tin cans connected by a very thick string.

ho ly shiiiiiit ARE THEY BACK TOGETHER???? pleaaaaase let this not be a one off

I think at least Yuval is bringing enough of the necessary energy to the music
jeezus cripes…
You had the perfect angle. Next time just leave the damn camera alone and get the whole band. Otherwise thank you for posting this.
Doughty's really kinda punching the clock, isn't he?

What a mess.... these guys are not well rehearsed at all ...like listening to a bunch of stoned people jamming
Where the hell is Soundtrack to Mary
I know! So sad
I thought the sane thing in Boston. :/
Where’s Lazybones too!?
Saw these guys once in St Louis Ho ho show at Mississippi Nights was crazy good! #comedowntothis
