don'T know how much they make where you live, but here they cost 90$ an hour, the guys make 30+$ an hour, benefit, retirement fund, insurance, and double time over time. it's dirty, but they live well, my uncle got millionaire doing that and building his small company
Our previous plumber used to live our neighborhood. He moved to one of the nicer neighborhoods 15 years ago, last time I talked to him (2 years ago) he was looking to move again. He was is good, worked hard, did great work. Got into high end remodeling and custom construction, the type where he had to wear tyvek suits and cotton gloves. As he put it 20 years of crawling under houses, hip deep in sewage, to become an "overnight" success.
Sometimes I think this job must be easy; only a few tools and one goal. Then I see the floaters and dead rats and realize I can’t hold my breath for 30 minutes and no protection is enough for me to stick my hand down one of these flooded pipes. At the same time I would have to think clearly and remember what I am supposed to do, and know when to try plan b and plan c; let alone just having plan b and c. Then I would have to be pleasant with customers. Oh... and I would have to learn how to do it without bankrupting myself from damaging pipes and floors. Ollie makes it look easy. I’m glad there are people like him the world over keeping the rest of safe from waterborne illnesses.
Those jetters are amazing. My last job we had a company come in and jet our drains once a month. Used to pull out snouts, ears, boots, gloves, if it was used, worn or thrown away it eventually made it in a drain.
Even the way you move the hose in and out of the pipe and twist it around to cut all the roots from top and bottom of the pipe takes skill I can’t believe how amazed I am about this stuff my uncle was a master plumber and he did stuff like this here in New York!!!

in the area i live in the U.S. the local guy brings a vacuum line out. He then sucks out the drain before attempting to clear the blockage. He can also feed clean water thru the line during blockage removal. He has stated that sewage lines are biohazard liquid. He doesn't like leaving it on the ground surface.
Whatever you are getting paid isn't enough. I sure hope you have taken all of you vacs and put yourself through the wash/rinse cycle several times at the end of the day. OMG what a tough way to make a living, but like you say, somebody has to do it. Awhile back I had a drain plug up and I managed to fix it myself. The guy across the street brings the company truck home at night. I asked him what he would have charged me for that job. He said ,if you contact me and I work off the books I'll give you a big break and it would only be $350.00 USD. Now, that guy was ripping me and the company off. Nothing goes down that drain but water now. I don't know how I came across you videos, but they are great. My only advice to you is please slow down just a little. I've never seen a man so hard charging and intense. I suspect you are the company owner/worker . If a customer was to complain, I guess you simply show him the video.
