There some days when I dream in english 😂, really, i'm not cheating, sometimes it happens, AND I really know what those words mena by asosiating it to images or sounds.
I'm student and I ever read think bout psicology, AND THE explanstion I got for this and the "Think in english" method in this video is simple to explain.
Imagine if you were a baby, who doesn't know a hell about nothing. If you grow up in a english familly you'll here, see, feel, smell and call think by their name in english, But when you say for example "Head" you really imagine the part of a body, the Head, no imagine the word as we do when we translate the words. So imagining, repitting In your mind sounds, images, feeling and imiting moovements is how we learn a NEW concept.
Another way to see it is accept that there are no similarities in the lenguajes, this would create a "wall" between both languages and you'll stop to translate.
