I think I have mentioned before that I have been working privately as a hobby out of my home garage with handicap mobility equipment here in Florida starting my 13th year now. I mostly work with used equipment but HAVE bought 2 brand new Harmar AL-100s in the box and have never seen the emergency crank for if the power should fail. What I do is buy cheap (used) 3/8" drive ratchets and 3/8" hex sockets at car shows and provide them to my customers with each lift I install. There is a plastic plug in the top of the motor box that is removed and there is a 3/8" male hex to put the 3/8" socket on to raise or lower the lift, again in the event of a power failure. I wrap them in a soft micro-fiber cloth and put in the driver's side door panel pocket. I also believe (And I have told Harmar) that the light on the lift should have a clear cover and utilize a bright LED bulb to aid folks in loading and unloading in the dark.
My liftgate warning has been coming on since I installed the lift. Also, the tailgate will not automatically raise. The remote will open the liftgate but it won't raise automatically. Any idea what is wrong?
Hi, I'm not sure as I have no details on what vehicle or lift you have and how it was installed. If you are referring to your car's tailgate then something must be obstructing some kind of sensor on the car. Your best option is to take the car to a repair shop or the dealership to get them to diagnose the problem.
My AL-100 platform is now bent. When lowering my scooter the left side reaches the ground first. My truck was down for a year, soon as I began using this new lift the platform bent and looked warped. I have a Pride ZT10 that has two motors on the scooter why it can turn sharp on a dime and have four wheels. The ZT10 total weight is 250 pounds, which sounds fine below the weight limit, but the problem is the majority of the weight is the two motors in the back of the scooter, so way more weight on the left side where the AL100 warped. But paying $3,100 for this lift I am upset. No vehicle hit it, I added brakes and turn lights to the lift keep people back further. I can park the scooter on the AL100 opposite make the lift warp the other way or catch it when it is back level, then have a fabrication shop strengthen the lift with more cross members, but a customer should not have to do that.
Depending on the size of power chair you have you would need an AL300 for a power wheelchair application that has the seat kit and straps to accommodate it. An AL100 won't work with power wheelchairs.
I've never done a Harmar lift motor swap but if its anything like a Pride Outlander lift its pretty time consuming and requires a special tool to remove the mast drive screw from the mast. Pride didn't supply just the motor, they supplied the whole motor, gearbox and mast drive screw.
For the license plate light, does the wiring harness power that light, or do you have to use the wiring harness that is usually installed with the trailer hitch for trailer lights?
Hi Paul thanks for the question. The wiring harness on the lift section has a dedicated plug which goes into the trailer hitch wiring harness (four pin connector, not the round type) on the vehicle which controls the lights, turn signals etc. So, when you turn your lights on the plate light on the lift will illuminate at the same time.
@@lasvegasscooterslifts thanks for the information. My hitch doesn't have a plug for the trailer hitch wiring harness, it's simply the hitch itself. Is their a fix for that?
@@lasvegasscooterslifts I was successful in installing (believe it of not) a boat anchor winch wireless remote on a Harmar AL-100 a few years back. Worked GREAT but the one I bought could only have 1 remote at a time which I think is stupid-its like having only 1 key to something.

Hi Richard, great idea. Do you have an account with Harmar? as I know they were really strict with us and who they give accounts out to.
@@lasvegasscooterslifts No account. I'm just a private guy working out of my home garage with a great automotive mechanical back ground.
Great video. Made installation a breeze. Thanks a lot.
Glad it helped. 👍
very informative video. I lost the safety pin for the swing away. any suggestions for where to buy a new one?
Hi Scott, you can purchase a Pride pin from our ebay store that can be used to replace your Harmar swing-away pin.

Thanks for a great video. Is anything like it available in the UK?
Not that I know of

Have you reached out to the place that installed the lift or to Harmar?
I need video to strap down the chair and adjust ramp for chair

How to change the moter on that lift

You could try going to somewhere like U-Haul and see if they can fit the trailer wiring kit for your lights.
Is there a remote controll w this lift I need a rolator walker also to assist w me walking
No, the only lifts that offer an optional wireless remote operation are the internal style and boom lifts.
