“i look like dawson leery” i am literally watching dawsons creek rn and i kid you not he was wearing a striped sweater exactly like that like two episodes ago 😭😭
Looking at this made me realise the probable reason I cannot possibly adopt the current 90’s revival: I was a child and to me this never felt like fashion or a way to express myself, it was just baggy random stuff my mum bought for me. I entered Urban Outfitters a couple of weeks ago and it felt like I stepped into the drawer of stuff we use at my parents for house chores
I think about this all the time. I’m in my 30’s back at college and I look around and see my elementary outfits everywhere and I just can’t wear it again.
Haha, same! Every store I go in now is a flashback of my closet! We've been there done that before and I can't imagine going back to it. Now we know how our parents feel!
I’m a tail-end millennial, I wore this stuff a lot of the time until the middle of elementary because it was out of style and my parents could buy it cheap. Didn’t like it and it got me teased too. I’m skipping the trend as well 😂
90s were fine for me. Very comfortable. But I have it this way but with the whole Y2K. Uncomfortable shapes, tacky fabrics and colours, too baggy in places where it should be more tight and too tight where it should be more loose. I was a teenager then, developing boobs and hips, and everything was either too long or too tight for me (or both). I felt terrible in everything but I didn't have a choice to wear anything else because it was the only thing available at stores. I absolutely hated going shopping. Today I can't believe teenagers these days are CHOOSING to wear this stuff. Duh, nope. Skinny jeans forever.
For real 😭 I was too young for them but I remember my cousins had them and I would try them on when they weren’t looking and I can’t freaking believe they used to wear those all day like how were they convinced those were comfortable and supposedly helped your circulation 😂😂😂
I was so obsessed with my Winnie the Pooh clothes😭 I had a white Winnie polo that I wore to EVERY elementary school dance in 5th grade and I had a very well-loved navy Tigger sweatshirt. But best of all... I had denim overalls with Winnie, Tigger, and Piglet embroidered across the bib part. Hoping one day I can find any of these stored away in a cubbyhole.
@@SpongeB00b_is_a_savage Okay, but that makes me jealous! Honestly, I love The Little Mermaid even more than Pooh and I would wear the hell out of those in 2023 if they'd fit me.
I think it's funny that visible socks are back, because ever since I was little (92 baby) I've always preferred long socks - ideally over-calf socks. And I got mercilessly mocked for them literally for like, 29 of the 31 years of my life so far. And now suddenly I can wear them with shorts and look like I'm fashionable when really I've just been hella comfortable the entire time and didn't care that they weren't stylish. (I know over-calf socks with shorts and board shoes were a thing for a while but I didn't have the rest of the skater look to go with it 😂)
Same! I was a Sailor Moon kid and loved all their outfits with knee-high and thigh-high socks and tried to copy them. No one seemed to appreciate my long sock obsession. 😅 I was the only one who wore them long with my school uniform.
Those striped long sleeve shirts that were all most likely from old navy were soooo uncomfortable to me. Mostly because they were all these ribbed sort of fabric & not cotton. I remember tie dye being a huge staple of the late 90’s. You know to go along with our lava lamps & those beads we had over our doors. The beads are the only thing I couldn’t have because we had two cats & they would tear them down
Those adidas slides with socks were practically a uniform at swim meets in my country. Literally everyone had them, wore them with socks and those breakaway adidas sweatpants. That picture gave me time travel ptsd 😅
I think my favorite thing about 90's fashion is minimal hair/makeup and jewelry. Even as an adult, I don't have a lot of jewlery and doing hair and make up is optional (the greasier your hair, the more authentic). You can just throw basics on with one necklace and maybe a purse and you're good
Im 34. I can confirm that i stepped out of the house today in denim straight leg overalls, a white high neck t shirt, some white keds and a daisy rectangle head scarf... unintentionally 90s... some things just never leave you.
I for one am loving the 90s revival. I feel like nowadays were just doing revivals. Hopefully we'll make our own flair but I believe it's just a mix of 70s-90s and even 2000s.
YO I THINK WE WENT TO GIRL SCOUT CAMP TOGETHER!! I STAYED IN A TENT JUST LIKE THAT WE HAD A LIP SYNCING COMPETITION AND I LIPSANG MATERIAL GIRL BY MADONNA AND PUT MY HAIR IN A MOHAWK. ARE YOU FROM FLORIDA
Adidas thought it would be cool and comfy to design flip flops with daggers. Socks were a requirement for those. They weren't made for the beach. Or anything other than torture
My mom used them for spankins, or throwing , depending on distance. Sometimes the Velcro sticks to your hair and pulls a chunk out. Don’t underestimate the power of a chankla….
Yep I love this 90s revival so much ! 90s was the best fashion era ever

I love how androgynous the 90s were
Fashion gen z girlies would sacrifice you for that wardrobe shit I would too. It’s so good.
It's crazy seeing the things we wore in the 90s come back again. I wish I could go back to the 90s.
That’s more 90s Kids/middle school fashion and tbh it only came back in 2020/21 it’s not trendy at all rn

you're so right, I just bought a jumper dress at target that is almost a 1:1 replica of the dress I wore in my kindergarten yearbook photo
The socks was the only way you could keep those slides from tearing into your feet

I had pink overalls with Ariel and Eric from Little Mermaid *shudders* memories 😢

90s fashion is still the best fashion 😁💖

“Those beads we had over our doors” is a visceral memory. 😅
Was that stripe shirt union bay? I remember they always had great striped shirts!
Wearing socks with jelly shoes unless you were rock pooling makes sense! They rub like crazy!

Adidas slides with socks and the Adidas track pants were all the rage and super comfy. Lol.

I wanna fast forward to 2006 - 2009 fashion . It’s slowly taking over ❤
As a current teenager, I think between my friends and I, we’ve all worn variations of these outfits within the last year 🫣🙈
Lmao my brother has adidas slides and he loves them! He wears them with his socks, exactly like you do in the photo! 😂
The perm looks amazing tbh
The Dawson comment is everything! 🤣
I love oversized long sleeved shirts! I will protect mine from shrinking and ruining how comfy they are!
Tie dye is always cool
I dont blame you, shoes hurt feet way too often 😂❤
YES, the oversized tie dye t-shirt from the flea market at .
I remember the Winnie the Pooh sweatshirts and also those jean jackets with Looney Toons on them.
Dawson Leery chic is where it’s at 😂😂
As a Minnesotan with Viking blood coursing through her veins… 😂💜💛
Dawson Leary 😂😂😂
Wow some of these photos look like me with lighter hair 😂 I guess I was trendier than I thought!
The oversized everything! Hand me downs from my brothers and some neighbors all drowned me and it was fashion!!
I will never stop wearing socks and sandals, or perming my hair!! I’m Gen X bitchaaas!!
And I had that Winnie the Pooh sweatshirt.
not the Adidas slides 💀 my whole family had them, and my dad would always accuse me of stealing his even though mine were like 10 sizes smaller
Adidas slides the best.

That first pic you could've passed as Britney's sister lmao

I’m 32 and I’m scared
This is more like 90s middle school fashion or just kid fashion idk cause teens did not wear that 😭
You sure about that?
@@keekeejenkins6162 yea I’ve rarely seen a teen in the 90s dress like that
😂 so fibby
