At Ben Thanh Market, the "fixed price" areas are owned and operared by the government. Hence why they have the signs up so people know not to bargain. Move further into the market, and everything is up for haggling.

thank you for clarifying, i was scared when i accidentally said 'scam price'. i feel 300,000vnd for a vietnamese dress a little overpriced but i feel 150-200k is reasonable.

i am curious, do locals come to this market for 'shopping'? i feel mostly are tourist.
Do you have any markets in saigon that locals go to that you can recommend? :D

@@bernardwangg you dont have to keep disparaging the vendors or the prices or repeatedly saying "luxury goods". they are trying to make a living

@@sanhtu77 sorry that was not my intention at all. I support local small stores everyday when I dine and cafe in Vietnam 🇻🇳🙏🏻

@@bernardwangg i know thats not your intention but i see that attitude from a lot of outsiders. the vendors there pay rent monthly and there are oftentimes long periods with no customers. Considering this, if they only sold at a price you thought was good they would go out of business. I just feel you are disparaging them by the stuff i mentioned previously and also by saying stuff like useless souvenirs. you think they are useless but other people like them. did you consider that when people watch your channel it can affect their business. Put yourself in their shoes, a youtuber comes with a camera in your face then goes on youtube and talk negative. would you like that? Not trying to be harsh and i like your channel but you are a guest in the country and i think you should be more sensitive to vendors and locals.
