If I remember correctly this track was only released as a B-side but it was my absolute favorite track of Junior Walker along with Shotgun and Roadrunner. This man could blow a tenor sax like nobody else, after him the only one who came close was Clarence Clemmons
Yes! I was just telling my sister who I share this song with, it reminds me of my mother and a boatload of us cousins being at my aunts house every Friday night
Jr. Walker & The All Stars song "Tune Up" was the theme song of the early "Teen Age Frolics" on WRAL Channel 5- Raleigh, North Carolina. The MC was the famous J.D. Lewis. A time to remember growing up in Raleigh, North Carolina.
-This must have been 1 of his early records from the 50's, before the 60's days of Shotgun & the rest. Has that sound of the sax blasters at those mid 50's Alan Freed Rock & Roll shows.
If I remember right, It was a movie called " Hellzapoppin ". Think it was made in 1941 ... Hope this helps ..... The dancers were called, The Lindyhoppers
The man was just great nobody could play that sax like Jr. A old girl friend truned me on to Jr. Back in 1965 and I still love it today.I. do miss her but life has it's own plans for you.
This goes right up there with Earl Van Dyke's rendition of "All About My Girl" (a/k/a "Heartbreak" at the end of the first Jr. Walker & The All Stars Live! album) and King Curtis' "Foot Pattin'" (which was the theme of Grandpa Al Lewis' radio show). The sax playing on all of these cuts is incredible! Also check on Jr. Walker's "Ame Cherie (Soul Darling)", "Hot Cha" and "Walk In The Night"! Great use footage from classic Black dance and (I believe) "Amos & Andy" (fooling around with the instruments)!
"Cleo's Mood" and "Satan's Blues" and the JUNIOR WALKER ALLSTAR BAND with EARL VAN DYKE on thevB-3 HAMMOND ORGAN !!!! Giving us that depth, breadth of Baas so indicative of that HAMMOND B-3 !!!
Ooh Wee we usta call this Juke Joint Music...Red Prysock, Big Jay McNeely, Illinois Jacquet, King Curtis and of course Jr. Walker, Louis Prima...wailers
Must be alzheimers....thanks for jogging my memory (though note that I wrote AFTER Junior Walker). Yes both were great players, in particular King Curtis. But for get-down blow-your-lungs out wailing sax you can't do much better than Jr. Walker.
@@Keepingthefaith72Only reason we have turmoil today is because of Traitor Trump and MAGA. Back in the day all we had was assassinations and wars going on. Were you around when the Vietnam War was raging and our cities were in constant riot mode?

Incredible Choon 🎉 KTF , very privileged to see Jnr Walker and the Allstars at Hinkley All Nighter back in the day
If I remember correctly this track was only released as a B-side but it was my absolute favorite track of Junior Walker along with Shotgun and Roadrunner. This man could blow a tenor sax like nobody else, after him the only one who came close was Clarence Clemmons

A BOMBASTIC tune to do a fast Philly Bop to, and at Jerry Blavat dances we do a line dance called the Discophonic Walk with a caller.
Outstanding, footage included.
Classic song....vintage late 50's sound. Juke joint was jumpin'....great recording.

SORRY TO TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH YOU ABOUT KING CURTIS' 'FOOT PATTIN' BEING IN THE SAME LEAGUE AS THIS.
'FOOT PATTIN' IS FAR TOO MILD AND LACKS DRIVE.
"Cleo's Mood"
and "Satan's Blues"
and the JUNIOR WALKER ALLSTAR BAND
with EARL VAN DYKE on thevB-3 HAMMOND ORGAN !!!!
Giving us that depth, breadth of Baas so indicative of that HAMMOND B-3 !!!
