Congrats on the new shelfords. I also own a pair for similar reasons. Experiment with the blend knobs. It has had amazing utility in my masters. I also use it through an analog mid-side matrix on many occasions. Happy to see I wasn’t the only crazy person to grab a pair of them lol. Cheers!
@humusiclab8974 Great question! The MBT shines on the mastering bus, adding that classic Neve warmth and depth. It gives a smooth low end and rich harmonics that really bring out the character in a mix. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for that signature vibe! 🎛✨
Thats some real subtle settings, i cant hear any difference on my computer speakers, will have to listen again with headphones. Doesn't having the blend turned all the way down on the compressor take the compressor out of the mix?
My shelfords just arrived yesterday, do I need to space them in my rack for heat disapation? I’m kinda short on rack space but I don’t want to damage anything
@@boogiesnail Can you do a review on two of the Neve Newton Channel linked together? The Newton's have a link function for two devices. Does the Shelford's have the linking also?
As much as i like the idea to use these coupled for mixbus or mastering duties but the results in your examples were too subtile even from a mastering point of view. maybe you could get more 3d, color and excitement out of it if you use it more drastically but the very small differences in this video wouldn´t convince me to buy it for these specific application. for recording it´s probably worth every penny.
In fact I bought these guys for tracking my personal projects. Mastering is an additional option one may use to explore the whole capacity + mixing of course. 🙏🏻🤝
Im sorry those sound good... I use Nebula...Acustica Audio and my own...analag Gear...Im not hearing $8000 I Think the Cranborn 500 Series Summing Mixer/Interface/500 Series Mulit Slot with 8 High End 500 Units... is a way better investment than these..... Or...the SSL 2 Bus + Fussion and Big SiX..... Or...Getting a Portico 2 and a Neve 88m interface.... 3 Better ways to spend $8000 for Mastering....LOL
If we’re talking about mastering, then yes it is true. But I use them for recording my own rock projects. And believe or not I can’t live without them. They worth their price.
33609? So the comp is a diode bridge compressor? They are the most coloured and vibey of the compression circuits. I have a Heritage Audio Successor that's very similar to the 33609 with a 1073 output stage. Its killer on the mix bus for anything heavy or electronic. but it has crazy attack and release times that make it even better for stereo drum duties.

Thank you 🙏🏻 Shelfords are amazing! Thanks for the MS matrix recommendation 🤝
How did you get them
Matched for stereo linking?
@@infojunkie4989 I didn’t link them. I preferred to use them in dual mono mode, so to say.
@@boogiesnail mine should arrive next week.
@@infojunkie4989 👍🏻💪🏻👏🏻
I have two Shelford channels for tracking. They are undeniably the best channel strips I’ve ever used. I’ll have to try this!
🙏🏻👍🏻
Wow I WISH..
🤞🙏🏻🤝
I have 2 on the way,
When using for mix bus and mastering are
EQ and Compression both available
Great! Yes, sure, you can use both 👍🏻

How does the MBT compare for mastering buss?

Great 👍🏻 It’s better to space them a little bit.
If i have one can i master the R channel and the L channel Separatly ?
Nope
Thank you so much !!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sure thing! 100% 🎯🎯🤝

@@ThaRealDawn Yes, same, I prefer not to link both channels. To me it’s better for stereo imaging.
You sound like Bas Rutin

I’d go with the RND Master Bus Processor Portico II for mastering. But the EQs of the Shelfords are really nice.

Yes it is a diode bridge compressor. In fact, it is an improved version of 2254 compressor. It has a warm and punchy sound.
