Shelford Channel or Chandler Cassette Channel Strip????
on the dance track Ruby sounded much better then the hw. the rest examples sounded a bit too much. The mix seems not well gain staged was pushing the plugin a bit hard
Thanks for the feedback, @GeorgiNikolov-v7i! Ruby was definitely on fire in that dance track-must have had an extra shot of espresso! 😄 As for the gain staging, I might have been a bit too enthusiastic. It’s all part of the fun, right? Appreciate the keen ear and the notes!
Can u do a video on how to get a big wide master
Thanks for the suggestion, @NzeJoseph-kp1sn! A video on achieving a big wide master sounds like a great idea. I’ll definitely consider making one soon. Stay tuned! 🎛🎚
All multiband compressors distort phase. or don't you care????
@vladpetrovsky8674 Thanks for the comment! True, multiband compressors can mess with phase, but when used wisely, they’re like a master chef adding just the right spice to a dish. Careful balance is key-so don’t worry, the mix will still taste delicious! 😉🎛
Why do people argue over sounds.
@kingech_B15 Why do people argue over sounds? Well, it’s like debating whether to use a paintbrush or a spray can-both can create masterpieces, but the fun is in the process! 🎨 Whether it's the smooth warmth of the VT5 or the digital vibe of Ruby2, it's all about the art of the ears! 😉🎧
Any analog de esser for mastering?
For mastering, an excellent analog de-esser is the SPL DeS Dual Band De-Esser, which is transparent and effective. The Weiss DS1-MK3 (though digital) is another mastering favorite for precise and transparent de-essing. Thanks for checking out the video!
@boogiesnail no thank you for the advice
I have one client like this bud sadly they are my highest paying and bring in a load of work. I’m sure they know I put up with them and that’s why they come back to me. They almost always do “mixtering” where they have lost their way with the mix and after hearing it mastered they decide to change a lot with a few different versions. I always charge for any new alternate versions. If it’s not small mix changes but things like changing tempo or adding/subtracting instruments ect. Is what it is 🤷♂️
@Limit5482, I feel you! It’s all part of the process with some clients, but as long as they’re bringing in the work, it's worth the ride. Charging for those bigger changes is definitely the right move-gotta keep things fair for everyone! 💪😄
❤❤❤

I've got the BM EQ and I recently got the Wes Audio ngTubeEQ. That thing sounds amazing. With digital recall
Super 👍🏻
Hey Tim. Since you’ve used both, which comp do you think is best suited for modern hip hop/pop? Alpha or VT-5? Hard to demo both.
Hey! Both are top-notch but serve different purposes. The Elysia Alpha is super clean, precise, and punchy - great for tight, modern hip hop/pop mixes where you need transparency and control. The DW Fearn VT-7, on the other hand, has a beautiful tube warmth and musical vibe, perfect for adding depth and character. If you want a more polished and detailed sound, go with the Alpha. If you're after warmth and vibe, the VT-7 is your guy. Hope this helps!
@@boogiesnail PERFECTLY described. Hard to get opinions from people that haven’t used both. Thank you!!
P.S. Dynamic Range Compression (DRC) on RUclips RUclips recently introduced a feature called Dynamic Range Compression (DRC) under the "Stable Volume" setting in the video player. DRC compresses the audio's dynamic range, reducing loudness fluctuations for more consistent volume. However, this process compromises audio fidelity by squashing dynamics and reducing overall loudness. Recommendation: For better listening quality, especially in music or audio-focused content, it’s best to keep Stable Volume off. You can find this option in the settings menu of the RUclips player under "Audio Enhancements."
Typical plugin sound tiny and harsh noobs will confuse that with clarity, on the other hand the hardware sounds warm and doesn’t take away from the lower frequencies like the plugin.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It's true that hardware often brings a warmth and fullness that's hard to replicate with plugins, especially in the low end. That said, with careful tweaking, plugins can also achieve great results-it's all about knowing how to use them effectively. Every tool has its place, and sometimes it’s just a matter of what suits the mix best. Appreciate the discussion!
unas bellezas , muchas gracias
Thanks. Best/Mathias

Ouvindo pelo smatphone e ja da pra peecerber que é noite e dia.
Absolutely! It's like comparing a flashlight to the sun. Who knew our little devices could reveal such epic battles? 😂🌞📱
Wow. The software sounds like it has a blanket over it. I wanted this to be great. However, it’s not even close. I’m not sure if that’s cramping or aliasing or I don’t even know. The difference is striking. Did you over sample the software?
Hey! Thanks for your feedback. Sorry to hear you're not happy with the results. I used the Plugin Alliance version with oversampling to avoid aliasing. The difference you're hearing could be due to how the plugin emulates the hardware. Thanks again for your input!
@@boogiesnail did you over sample the software for this video or no? Genuinely curious.
@@dw543 Yes, I did use oversampling for the software in this video to avoid aliasing. Thanks for asking!

My mix sounds very boomy and dull in HD600 headphones and yet the exact same mix sounds very harsh and shrill in Sony MDR7506 headphones. It's the same mix! So which is my mix? Is it dull and boomy or harsh and shrill? Or both?
Ah, the headphone dilemma! 🎧 Your mix is playing a game of 'telephone' with your headphones. The HD600s might be making it sound boomy and dull, while the MDR7506s are highlighting the harsh and shrill parts. So, which is it? Maybe a bit of both. Try referencing on more systems and find a balance. It's like trying to make everyone happy at a family dinner-tricky but doable! 🍽 Thanks for the comment, and happy mixing! 😄

Ah, the secret formula to mastering with Alpha! Thanks for the timestamps, looks like you've got the Alpha GPS! 🚀 😉🤝
@@boogiesnail Hardware makes the sound better, more detail in mids, better and punchier bass.. but i can achieve this with much less expensive gear. It`s amazing compressor tho, if you can afford it 💯💯
@@DJURBANBG Totally get it! Hardware does add that special something-better mids, punchier bass. But yeah, you can get great results with cheaper gear too. It’s like driving a Ferrari vs. a Honda-both get you there, but one feels extra fancy. 😄 Glad you liked the compressor! If only we could all afford a rack full of these! 🙏
Hm, I hear not much of a difference? Maybe it's the because of the RUclips audio quality.
Thanks for watching! You know, RUclips audio quality is like trying to taste gourmet food with a cold - sometimes it just doesn't do it justice! 😉 But don't worry, your ears aren't playing tricks on you; the Alpha compressor is still the king, even if RUclips tries to dethrone it! 👑🎧
...THIS ? Is a Transformer yo ! Tickle the 3rd knob 7 times ...he will start laughing and transform ; then breakdance to disguise himself as a Toy : )
Haha, I love your imagination! The Alpha compressor does have a magical touch, but I haven't seen it breakdance just yet. Maybe I need to tickle that 3rd knob a few more times! Thanks for the laugh!
BROoooOooOOO !!!?? NEWFANGLED _Punctuate ; ) ...OooO You use Elevate ? ok ok ...good job
You got it! NEWFANGLED _Punctuate is like the secret sauce. Elevate takes it to the next level! Glad you enjoyed the video. Keep rocking those transients!
Can even anything beat the SONNOX ? For real ; )
The SONNOX is indeed a powerhouse! For real, it's tough to beat. But there are always contenders out there trying to challenge the throne. It's all about finding the right tool for your sound. Thanks for watching!
@@boogiesnail My findings are ,that the FAST Limiter has a very nice feature which is the Transient slider. It sounds extremely transparent ; and is super easy to set up. Would be interesting to read your findings on the FAST Limiter (focusrite) . The interface and sound is genius in my ears
Please clarify - is this an original song, also mastered/audio balanced by the same person? Either way it's beautifully done (recreational multi-instrumentalist here). 🌌🌏♥️
Thank you so much for your kind words! The guitar player and I are the authors of this song. It exists in full version with drums and electric guitars, but this one is an acoustic version featuring acoustic guitar, bass, percussion, and my voice. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Subtlety is key.

The BM waveform is clearly more articulated which may be preferred as an input to a mastering compressor. But that's not to say the Fearn & Knif aren't any better. We know the discriminating comparison would require a hands-on comparison of the three units. FWIW, I have the BM EQ, Compressor, and Limiter2. Having the 3 stages really helps to dial-in the desired outcome.
Thanks for your comment! You're right-the BM waveform is great for a mastering compressor. The Fearn and Knif are also excellent, and a hands-on comparison would be ideal. Having the BM EQ, Compressor, and Limiter2 must give you great control over your sound. Thanks for sharing!
It's a very beautiful song, one of my favorites.

Try the Maselec MA-2 by Relab
Thanks for the suggestion! I tried the Maselec MA-2 by Relab, but it didn't quite fit my preferences and workflow. I appreciate the recommendation, though!
I recorded with midi and use grand piano vst. İts sound extremely bright. Could you offer any vst? And when i use sustain it generate Deep sound. How can i solve?
Thanks for your question! If your piano VST sounds too bright, here are some other VSTs you might like: 1. Pianoteq by Modartt - It lets you tweak the sound a lot. 2. Keyscape by Spectrasonics - This one has great, warm-sounding pianos. 3. The Grandeur by Native Instruments - It has a nice, balanced tone. For the deep sound when using the sustain pedal, try these tips: 1. EQ Adjustments - Use a low-cut filter to reduce the deep bass sound. 2. Velocity Curve - Adjust the sensitivity of your MIDI keyboard to get a more even sound. Hope this helps!
