Hey! So I just started working at my local Costco’s food court and spend most of my shifts making pizzas. This is all pretty accurate, from Lamonica’s suppling our dough to the automatic saucing machine. I’m not so sure if I’d call the machine a robot, but it saves us a lot of time. For oil, my warehouse has a sort of squirt bottle that we keep full of canola oil and you kind of eyeball how much you put onto the dough squisher. We definitely don’t use a quarter cup at my food court, but it certainly looks like a decent sized blob of oil. The cheese pizza by far has the most cheese. It’s a mixture of mozzarella and parmesan, but I’m not sure how much of each type is used. The cheese pizza does indeed have 1.5 pounds of cheese, but the pepperoni only has 14 ounces, and our half and half pizzas have 1 pound and 2.5 ounces, at least at my warehouse. The biggest misconception here is that it takes us all 75 seconds to make an entire pizza, from dough ball to getting it in the oven. The cheese pizzas takes the more experienced employees at my warehouse around 1.5-2 minutes to get in the oven, and pepperonis take a good bit longer, closer to 3-4. Placing 60 pepperonis takes an extra minute or two, and it takes me as a new worker a little longer than that. With that said, we crank out pizzas super quickly. Hope that sheds some light on the process!
I’ll be damned, I’m here because I was like “no way their pizza is as high in protein as it is” but if your measurements are accurate then there’s 112 grams on a pep before the pepperoni even goes on there
Ok one question im planning to buy a 4 pepperoni pizza and how can i add some extra toppings do i have cooked them first for example bacon and sausage etc.?
I LOVED COSTCO COMBO PIZZA ..WAS A HUGE 18" COMBO PIZZA WAS ONLY FOR $10, U CANT BEAT THAT ..THEY RAPPED THAT COMBO PIZZA FOR OVER A YEAR NOW OFF menu , I DONT KNOW THEY EVER BRING IT BACK
I definitely like the sauce application. I prefer pizzas with a relatively large amount of pizza sauce and that machine seems to help accomplish that. The pizza portioning cutting assist device is nice too.
Ever heard of distribution system? Warehouses and manufacturing plants? It might be a new concept for you. But to answer your question, manufacturer has 5 facilities across the nation where they make and deliver pizza dough. [Source: www.lamonicaspizzadough.com/]
Consistent Perhaps there maybe better pizzas, but for quantity to cost, it is one of the best available nationally. Now if they would try out Chicago Deep Dish style.
Eating a costco pepperoni slice while watching this lol, and yup. They do put a lot of oil lol but just use a little tissue or paper towel to get rid of excess grease
Food safety laws and liability There were several restaurants who use to donate left over cooked food, but after getting sued by someone claiming to be sick, or hearing of those cases, most have stopped. Once bitten, twice shy.
Yeah it is painful to see whole pizza thrown away sometimes. It is same in Sam's Club too. I believe it is to prevent lawsuit incase of food poisoning from leftovers, you know America
Jalu3 that’s actually a common misconception there’s a law out there that protects companies from getting sued for serving free food. As long as they knowingly didn’t serve expired food. This law applies in America I dont know about other countries.
4:25 I have a quick concern: Why don't major restaurants/food chains collects the food, istead of throwing in trash, give it to homeless people. I believe all the food chains do this, they throw away almost perfectly fresh food.
I miss it…can costco bring back the combo pizza and there polish hot dog limited time only,3 week max or they can just give out the recipe online so we can make it at home !
Hopefully robots will make customized pizza texted from smartphones such as goat cheese, vegan cheese, and cheddar cheese. The Vegan ingredients could be involved.
FYI, you dont need to have Costco membership to eat in their foodcourt. Just slide in through the Exit door. Ditto for Sam's Club but their pizza is meh
Alan Ng I went to a Costco store and asked if I could just only go to their food court. The lady there said that I couldn’t go in because I didn’t have a membership. Then I began looking for people to go in with. Unfortunately it wasn’t a busy day. Bummer.
@@JaninaTylr Well that is strange, havnt been stopped before. I have done this in many Costco in many states. Next time dont ask, just walk in through the Exit door. Tell them you want to use their bathroom
Forget the all the stuff about the fancy pre-made dough balls, the robot-spread sauce or the cheese combo. What gives Costco pizza that great taste is that extra quarter-cup of oil.
Absorb "Grease "[With Costco Paper Towels] From The Pepperoni Pizza ..Combo is better .. Kudos to Costco for Inexpensive Food .. For $$$ Costco is Good....
After watching your video on RUclips I went out and bought a piece of the next morning. The pizza crust was soggy and doughy. The outside cross was soft. Took two pieces and put the rest and the garbage. Never again. Were you putting out some kind of info commercial?
So you went into their pizza kitchen to get material to make a video, and you didn't take any actual video? Who is in charge of this operation? You didn't think it would be a good idea to record the sauce robot in action, or the dough flattener? My goodness
Yet another recycled video. Here's what you guys should do: 1) Cheap meal plans. 2) Which healthy ingredients is the cheapest. 3) Consider making a brand new series where one of the people who works at Mashed makes the best meals they can with random ingredients from the Dollar stores, or the bargain bins at a grocery store and have a food budget of how much they can spend. 4) addition to #3, also make a series on how much food you can get with "X" amount of money and it has to last the entire day. 5) How to get free (hunting, wild edible plants, etc) food or nearly free food. 6) Also mention all the weird yet fun food related things you can do at home. Affordability in hand is also a nice touch to this as well.
Throwing out good pizza? What a shame, I grabbed a slice right before closing, happy to pay for it, do you think they would’ve thrown in an extra instead of throwing it out? Not! 🤔😎😡
Costco pizza is decent I guess... but delicious... I don't know about that. And I only eat plain cheese... I never eat the one in the thumbnail... that one is ok borderline not ok.
What's the best pizza around?
Market Basket Haverhill, MA
Veggie pizza,thin crust.
Brooklyn ,NY & Rays Pizza in NYC.
@FlamQ Dbltap very nice story. We Never know when we are entreated to small place that makes outstanding food. Thanks for comment on pizza.
Dominoes old original recipe was the best
We're all here commenting how much we really, really missed combination pizza...
This video was brought to you by Costco.
As are a good 75% of their videos.
And your point is.......

2020 RIP COMBO PIZZA. Dam pandemic
No fn way 😭
WHAT!?
Yes. This made me so sad.
@Luke Asuncion combo hits different though
sad

They should donate hour old or day old pizza to homless shelters. I bet they would be greatful and not put into a landfill.
Good idea :)
That’s what I was thinking. Way too many less fortunate Americans out there. : (
I don't care what the ad says I bet they aint throwing pizza out after an hour. Stuff at the end of the day I bet employees are taking that crap home.
While that would be nice, IIRC the fear is about food poisoning. Frankly, I think that is paranoia.
Yeah. Unfortunately a lot of restaurants throw food away. When I worked at closing time, the people I worked for let us take it home.
The Brooklyn dough guys drives across the nation daily delivering his fresh dough :|
Ever heard of distribution system? Warehouses and manufacturing plants?

This is what I'm getting when I'm finally out of quarantine

Why did they have to throw it away, why Costco why? Give it to the employees or a homeless shelter or something.

Because shady LAWYERS, that's why.
they dont use gloves?
why dump the pizza after one hour?
sell it for less.
Pizza is cooked at such a high temperature that any germs are incinerated apron baking. However, after it’s made is a different story.
barbaima name me ONE pizza maker that makes pizza with gloves
Meridian Ask Frank Pinello or Mark Iacano if they use gloves to make pizza. And you act like no pizza maker washes their hands
I’ve worked at many restaurants where we didn’t use gloves. If you’re good about washing your hands it doesn’t matter.
Bro idk why they removed combo pizza. They say it's cause cost but I'd pay double for it again
One of the best pizza ive had
4:25 I have a quick concern: Why don't major restaurants/food chains collects the food, istead of throwing in trash, give it to homeless people.
I believe all the food chains do this, they throw away almost perfectly fresh food.
They gotta make money, I get like giving it away to homeless people would be like a great deed or what not, but they can’t just give away free food
Greed
In the late 1960s I worked at a restaurant that had the same gadget to cut pies
0:22 People Working in 1 World Trade Center: “What in the world is that?”
This pizza is so greasy and delicious.
They should donate the leftovers to homeless people or give it to the employees at the end of the day.
guesswhat, no more combo pizza, no more chicken bake, no more salads, no more churros and no more good stuff at costco anymore.
I miss it…can costco bring back the combo pizza and there polish hot dog limited time only,3 week max or they can just give out the recipe online so we can make it at home !
I can’t wait until pizza machines take over the world.
This add paid for by Costco!
I already know how it taste it’s it’s good I like the combination
I need that now!!!!!
Amazing! Talk about the Turkey Provolone sandwich! Amazing
Another great video mashed team!
I miss eating there now can’t
Mashed, great video! Enjoy your Friday! 💯🙏🙌
❤I love Costco here in Taiwan 🇹🇼.
It's the BEST 🍕.
F for the combo pizza.
I kind a like this video But Costco pizza is the best pizza ever made
Welcome to Costco, I love you
The costco in Edmonton close to Mill Woods use frozen pizzas instead of making it fresh.
Hopefully robots will make customized pizza texted from smartphones such as goat cheese, vegan cheese, and cheddar cheese. The Vegan ingredients could be involved.
Welcome to CostCo
I love you
Eating costco pizza as I'm watching 😋
The crust is so doughlicious! 😂😂😂
I thought Mashed already had a video on this topic.
Did they add a quart of grease to the pizza recipe? 🤓🍕
How much did Costco pay you to run this blatant advertisement?
I’m not sure why they removed combo pizza from their menu.
If I was homeless and hungry I'd be behind Costco every night at closing time.
In Mexico we have giant 12 slice pizza 👀
Humanity's doom < Slice of Costco pizza
Im going to costco now who wants a slice?
A "dough squishing contraption"? Never heard it called that before but it's still damn good pizza!
Why don’t they give the food to a food bank
Because of the liability
Costco and Sam’s Club food look the same. But do they all taste the same or is one store better than the other?
Costco is more oily and tastes better, Sam’s Club is more plain with a lot less tomato sauce too
Costco: we have the best robots
Zume: hold my beer
I miss the combo pizza.
Didn't they already make this video, but with actual footage not still images?!
That's such lie at 4:10,the local Costco takes 20 minutes to make a whole box of cheese pizza
FYI, you dont need to have Costco membership to eat in their foodcourt. Just slide in through the Exit door. Ditto for Sam's Club but their pizza is meh

Just tell them you want to get a membership. then when no one's looking Waltz over and grab some pizza.
@@JaninaTylr Well that is strange, havnt been stopped before. I have done this in many Costco in many states. Next time dont ask, just walk in through the Exit door. Tell them you want to use their bathroom
Alan Ng I will have to do that. Thanks.
That's all fine and good but the fact they DON'T WEAR GLOVES makes me kinda sick!
Throw out pizza that isn’t told an hour later? You’re a food bank also!
Forget the all the stuff about the fancy pre-made dough balls, the robot-spread sauce or the cheese combo. What gives Costco pizza that great taste is that extra quarter-cup of oil.
One word LOADS OF MSGS
You don't have to eat any snowflake. Saves more for the rest of us.
I don’t see anyone in this video wearing gloves and yet when we’ve ordered something from the food court they are wearing them FYI 😎
Title should have been.... "How Costco's Cheap Pizza Is Really Made"
You didn't say how the dough is made. You only explain the mechanical process.
Nah I’ve waited for 1hr + for Costco pizza... It ain’t fast
That's due to the demand for the relatively inexpensive pizza pies.
Jalu3 IK... It’s profit by demand. That’s why $1 slices in NYC still are around
Welcome to Costco.. I Love You 😻
please please please costco give Canada the same pizza as the US
Instead of throwing the pizza out they should save it and bring it to the homeless!
I'm just over here wondering why none of them are wearing gloves 😒 🙄
Do they wear gloves when making the food? Big concern for me!
I work at dominos and we got docked off points on an OER for having a dough docker 🙄 lucky Costco
Costco pizza cold is awful
Robots fine. Sanitation questions re: human worker hands without gloves touching my food while it's being made.
That's a lot of calories wow!
That's sad all of that leftover pizza is tossed. That can good to hungry families smh 🤦
Absorb "Grease "[With Costco Paper Towels] From The Pepperoni Pizza ..Combo is better .. Kudos to Costco for Inexpensive Food .. For $$$ Costco is Good....
wow
If you want even doughier pizza but the pizza that you cook at home it is even doughier than the food court stuff and less greasy.
Kirkland’s pizza.

Instead of throwing the leftovers, they should give it to the homeless and stray animals. But that's just my opinion.
Nope. Potential liability issue

What’s your favorite non pizza item at Costco?
This narrator's voice sounds different! Is she new?
Let's eat together just you and me
Is it just me or have you made this video before?
Nope but they made like a zillion videos with Costco pizza...
Throwing out good pizza? What a shame, I grabbed a slice right before closing, happy to pay for it, do you think they would’ve thrown in an extra instead of throwing it out? Not! 🤔😎😡
You just lost your credibility when you said Brooklyn based distributor of new York style dough... like seriously??? Come on...
Yeet!!
I always thought dirty high school kids made it, so I never bothered to try it
Hello Gordon you are best from thrindad and tobago
I respect RUclips videos... Untill they say "according to a Reddit contributer". Even worse, this video used the term "Reddit expert"...
Costco pizza is decent I guess... but delicious... I don't know about that. And I only eat plain cheese... I never eat the one in the thumbnail... that one is ok borderline not ok.
Ummm no. Sauce not even its 8 slices.
I think winco pizza is better than Costco
They can’t buy gloves?!
they dont serve combination anymore
Reddit EXPERT ???
