That Shower Rangers act is a flat out crime against children. Regardless of their motives, that was basically a sex crime. Even if they were adults, that is still traumatizing. Hopefully they're rotting in prison.
The segment about it on The Daily Show is disturbing too because Jon Stewart reported that 13/14-year old girls got pooped on and someone in the audience actually sounded excited by that. That audience member should probably be on some kind of watchlist. :-/
The fact that Swarthe began producing Uncle Walt during highschool is so fitting, because drawing (or in this case, animating) messed up versions of popular cartoon characters is the most highschooler thing ever.
I'm sure most cartoons have a lot of recorded, but not available to the public, swear filled bloopers that we'll never have access to. I know a couple from the original Thundercats cartoon that floated around since the late 90's online (including the immortal line "what the fuck is a samoflange"), and at certain conventions they screen some Lupin III outtakes. I bet there are many unknown treasures to be found outside of just the Sailor Mouth Spongebob episode.
@@LSuperSonicQ There were some recordings (not swearing or anything like that) found for The Transformers with scenes where the dialog was recorded but cut before being animated and alternate takes and temp tracks (e.g., where the guy that played Optimus Prime couldn't make it so they had the guy that played Starscream fill in for the other actors to play off of until the missing actor could record his lines separately).
That MTV story is so shitty, no pun intended. Why would you do that for a show? Who in the show's team was so coked out of their mind to think that that would be a good idea. Might be media that deserves to be lost.
The Simpsons have some never to be released "swear takes" too, the episode where Homer has a swear jar being the biggest example. Being able to sit in on a recording session for some of these shows would be a dream come true for me.
I also heard there's some World War II themed scene that was cut out from one of the early seasons. The reason it was removed had something to do with the writers putting in scenes with Hitler in other episodes (ones that aired) and Matt Groening told them to stop putting Hitler in the show.
Since working in this industry there's a bunch of media that we either saw it or have worked on it that I'm pretty sure won't be released anytime soon, The one that we're still talking in our group, till this day, is from new Animaniac. This show really got effected by Coivd during the production in the story part by a lot especially the one that related to flu part (they have to changed to something else like food poisoning). Some part that need to change has already finished the animation and voice actors and animator have to redo the whole sequence again. But there's one Episode that completely cut off as far as I knew cos it's an episode about the vaccine, (not sure how much I can say but it's not about vaccine denial, I can 100% tell you that) In that episode, we basically finish all animation and I think they just decide to not send off to clean up studio. Too bad that the episode got chopped but I also can see why. There's also a part of that episode where is a parody of Pink Elephant Scene from Dumbo that made by other studio (I think Giant Ant?) that our team really want to see, but I guess we'll never see it now :( Also keep that in mind that the script and plot were done way wayyyy before Covid happen, the production just happen to be in very wrong time :( Really unfortunately for the whole team, but we got paid so....I guess that ok :,)
Pretty ironic considering the song they sang about what the future might look like when the season releases VS when it was written, and then a future event effected the show.

Here’s a neat piece of lost media: the original pilot for the Donkey Kong cartoon. It was apparently so offensive they had to completely rework the show.

I can think of three wrestling related pieces of lost media: Owen Harts death, Droz being paralyzed and the Chris Benoit tribute show. The first is thought to have be captured by cameras in the arena while a video promo was playing for the PPV feed, the second was on a pre taped show and has only ever partially been seen in WWEs “Don’t try this at home” PSA from the 2000s and the final one was only aired once in the US before the truth of the Benoit family deaths came to light.
Honourable/Dishonourable mention would be Owen Harts death footage from the WWE Over The Edge PPV in 1999. He was being lowered to the ring in a superhero like fashion and the harness carrying him broke and he fell 80 feet to his death. During all this a promo he had done earlier that day was being shown on TV. The footage of his death does exist but it's locked away in the WWE vault with orders to 'Never view, destroy or duplicate' the only time the footage was ever shown was ain Court when Owens family sued WWE over his death
The lost media that always gets stuck in my mind is top gear segments following Jeremy Clarkson getting sacked and that series getting cancelled midway through. The one lost piece I always remember is that Richard Hammond did a test drive of the MK7 VW Golf R which was already edited and ready for airing but cancelled a few days before the airing
The "Spongebob actors cursing compilation" video is hilarious to me especially since Tom Kenny was on Mr. Show with Bob and David. There is way more video of him swearing that I'm sure that video doesn't cover.
Good to see that the Dora & George Lopez crossover Nick@Nite commercial has officially been found! :) That's really awesome to hear that one of the most popular SpongeBob SquarePants episodes, "Sailor Mouth", did in fact have the actors use real curse words during the dolphin bleeps! XD Now let's hope we can actually find the footage! Yeah, given Jared from Subway's recent controversy, along with Justin Roiland himself getting into controversy lately, it's understandable why the Rick & Morty Subway commercial will never be found (though I still want to see it). Kind of a shame that a massive controversy prevented an entire MTV show from airing, though maybe it's for the best (but, I'm still somewhat intrigued in it). While I'm DEFINITELY not into The Daily Show as much as anymore these days for a variety of reasons as I kind of was back then, I am still disappointed that a certain segment from the show was never aired (also back when Stephen Colbert was funny, and edgy, and not an obnoxious, cringe-inducing, liberal douche), so hopefully, we can convince Comedy Central to have it be aired uncensored online someday (I also highly doubt that the "controversial" scene from the SpongeBob episode "Just One Bite" was altered due to 9/11 events that were happening at the time since the episode first aired almost 1 whole month after 9/11 occurred)! Even though we never got Donkey Kong Plus as it originally was, at least there are ways to access its original intended feature, and that the level maker was brought back in Mario VS Donkey Kong 2 (I also need to point out that Mario VS Donkey Kong was released in 2004 in all regions, not 2005, same with MVSDK2 being released in 2009, it was 2006, though only the North American release, the rest of the world got the game in 2007)! Maybe one day if Nintendo ever makes a Super Mario Maker 3, this would be a great new mode! I would love to get the full high quality version of Aluminium as I've been really into the band Gorillaz in recent years! I highly doubt that we'll ever get to see Uncle Walt either considering how long it's been, but, you never know. Another great lost media video, LSSQ! :D
Never say never at least one of these things could get found one day. For example, everyone thought we would never see the witch Sesame Street episode but now it’s been found!
the story about Gorillaz lost media reminds me of Drain Gang & Sad Boys lost media. but in their case there are fan favorite songs like Cash In My Jeans and Play Em Like Atari that only exist as footage from a concert, apparently the flashdrive and laptop they had the album on was stolen. the HQ versions are lost to time
I kinda think a fun idea for a cartoon would be a comedy about some people that go searching for a different piece of lost media every episode, and try to get past security and stuff. They probably couldn't use real show names, so they'd probably have to say like "RagBoy" instead of "SpongeBob".
I feel like Depeche Mode's demos besides the two tapes from 1980 will never be released. I got the chance to talk to Dave Gahan after the Golden 1 Center show. I asked him if any demos besides the known tapes would be released. he stated "there is no chance of the tech demos being released". Edit: I got to see them again in March, I was able to talk to Dave for a second time. He was able to recall some of the tape names. They were "ELKA Drummer One Test", "Buchla System 100 Test", and most interestingly "L'Apocalypse des animaux Vangelis Cover". Apparently the first 2 were recorded by just Dave some time in 1976 or 1977 and the 3rd tape being recorded in 1979, by Dave, Vince, Andrew, and Martin.
you should cover some lost media from the vaporwave scene. due to the genre's mostly online-only nature and obscurity, countless entire albums have gone missing over the years.
2000 was a different time in many ways. Jackass and Tom Green had normalized MTV and it’s fans into thinking grotesque filth like that was fun. Even still this stunt clearly crossed lines that were already being pushed towards its limits at the time.
The level shown in the screenshot is a remake of a level from Donkey Kong '94. This is 100% speculation, but it might have gotten reworked into Mario vs. Donkey Kong because they wanted to have more substance than a remake of an old game as a base for their level editor.
17:47 hey just a quick add on! Gorillaz have afaik over 200 songs that are unreleased from plastic beach, too. There were massive efforts to recover them during 2020? The project was called sea sides and they still haven’t released any of the songs! There’s a bunch of snippets of plastic beach songs online but the full versions are yet to be posted by them
with a lot of these pre-2010 projects, the likelihood they were ever digitalized or even backed up physically is very low. many physical forms of media simply no longer exist. the mga fire destroyed thousands of film reels and it's just been accepted that those movies are gone forever. and in regards to the mtv pilot being cancelled before airing, that's not uncommon at all. hundreds of thousands of pilots nobody's ever heard of probably exist out there. sometimes shows just don't get picked up.
It sucks that the solution to a lot of issues is literally just "lol, get a time machine, scrub" and it is a decent possibility that creating one is just fundamentally impossible.
The Toy Story black Friday reel is one that maybe you could talk about in a future video, as to my knowledge the full reel has never been revealed, only one scene featured on one of the DVD releases.
It’d probably funny. I hope it leaks. MTV was sued for 10 million. I don’t know if it was settled out of court, or paid out though. In either case, it needs to see the light of day probably on a site like theync, or worldstar.
@@auditect950 The girls are in their mid 30s now, and I am not calling for some doxxing campaign, but rather the release of old footage for fans of schadenfreude. MTV could say they lost it along with a pile of a million-hours worth of ridiculousness footage that won’t be missed.
I'm 100% positive that "Dude, This Sucks" is gone for good. It was already a small production considering it was filmed in a remote studio and during a busy event, with the lack of audience eyewitness accounts it seems like they had a very small audience rather than a big Dr. Phil or Late Show sized crowd. The fact that it was cancelled on the spot also supports that they knew what happened was wrong and they didn't want the footage to go any farther than the camera film, and lastly the fact that two parents sued makes me believe they likely destroyed the film with the footage on it to avoid it possibly being subpoenaed by a court as evidence. Much like the supposed episode of Double Dare where a kid broke his arm which is assumed to also have been destroyed.
Sorry to be nitpicky, but I wouldn't consider some of these "lost media," just unreleased media. Lost media is media that was once available to the public (even if it may have been obscure and viewed by a small amount of people) and no longer is. These were pieces of media that were never released to the public, held onto and viewed only by those involved in its creation.
You mean like, for example, the majority of the Private Stock Records catalog? About the only “escapee” that’s available is Blondie’s “Plastic Letters” album.
i heard someone say that they had to come up with stand ins for actual swear words & the voice actors were laughing so much at how fun this was to do. but i believe that claim is false because that was on an official spongebob dvd by nickelodeon & they didn’t want to tell kids that spongebob actually did swear once
I have a possible piece of lost media. It was a roblox story video that was in RUclips, seems like it may have been deleted from the platform. It was about some roblox man’s wife or gf or something being crushed by a falling tree because of a roblox builder or something. It had a song in it called “Sad Song” by We The Kings which was very very fitting. The roblox couple or something lived in the forest, and they were going for a walk in the forest for something i don’t remember. Until the woman got crushed into her demise. The male character witnessed it and was seeing their loved one’s last minutes or seconds or whatever. I first watched it in 2016-2017 ish, but the video looks like it may have been made back in 2014 ish. The title was something among the lines of roblox sad story.
Interesting there was a second version of “Dude, This Sucks!” that existed called “Celebrity Dude, This Sucks!” which actually DID air it’s only episode, but I don’t think it is found, but an MTV promo had it
With the Sailor Mouth episode, I have high hopes because of poor cybersecurity lol. Sony Pictures had the 2014 leak Nintendo just had the 2020 gigaleak And Rockstar, for the first time ever, just had their new project leaked. Unless everyone tightens up, eventually Nickelodeon or at least the company that owns them, will eventually see a data leak, a substantial one too meaning these a small possiblity in the next decade we'll witness SpongeBob and Patrick cursing for real.
I think some of the most common pieces of lost media are sitcoms from the 70s and 80s. I swear those babies are HARD to find, specifically certain episodes or every episode but the pilot.

Do you have a video of "pre internet lost media releases". The one I remember was the Michael Larson game of Press Your Luck. It was buried for so long and then hyped to death on Game Show Network, and became a successful documentary on one game show episode. I would like to see how other "coming out parties" were treated as well as discuss the making of the Larson Game Documentary. Tge funny thing is show creator and producer Bill Carruthers died between yhe completion and releade of the documentary. And the original host, Pster Tommarken, died within a month of airing the "Revenge Against Larson" episode of Whammy, where he guest hosted the question round.
Tf? How do adults think it was okay to shit on little kids? Everyone involved needs to be locked up and the two guys need to be put on the sex registry because what they did is so lewd and disgusting. But they seem like the type who will play the victim card like everything was taken out of context. No, these “adults” need to be kept away from all kids for their safety. If THAT is what that show was absolutely willing to start with, then the frat boy types who go on them would definitely try and up each other leading them to doing worse and worse things. But sure, it’s a shame that filth was cancelled.🙄
Surprised The Sopranos/Lebron James ad wasn't mentioned. Supposedly, James Gandolfini and Edie Falco reprised their roles from the show as a way to "lure" Lebron James from the Cavs to the Knicks
Sure, but we weren’t filled in on what the girls and/or parents did immediately after the incident. All we know is that MTV got sued. It’s gone on too long though. The footage needs to be released for our entertainment. They can blur out the faces of the girls though. Despite it being a cruel incident, it may have been funny.
I was exposed to corn when I was around 7-9 years old, and it has scarred me and ruined my life in the long run. Hearing about this happening to preschoolers is honestly upsetting.
I am remastering Aluminium from 2021 while at the same time searching for it on forums and archived pages. And with the help of two friends we found the trailer of the festival recordings. This was to be streamed as On Demand on the festival site and I recently found that a user uploaded it in HD on MySpace but it was deleted due to their change of servers and was not recovered.
The loss of media on MySpace is pretty sad. I wasn't into it when it was relevant, and when I was interested, it was too late. I was big into finding photos of my college campus a few years ago and realized that I had lost my chance to find likely a whole treasure of them on MySpace by just another few years. I've dug through what's been publicly archived, but I suspect anything I'd find interesting or useful from the early 2000s is lost. I imagine a lot of students from that era posted on it.

Just from the description alone, Uncle Walt sounds like a genuinely fascinating piece of media and I hope it gets found sooner or later.
The Simpsons have some never to be released "swear takes" too, the episode where Homer has a swear jar being the biggest example. Being able to sit in on a recording session for some of these shows would be a dream come true for me.
Oh, fudge. That's broken.
Fiddle dee dee! That will require a tetanus shot. I'm not going to swear, but I am going to KICK THIS DOG HOUSE DOWN!
You might be right cause in the one of the deleted scenes from a season 10 or 9 episode it had a guest character swearing at marge uncut
I also heard there's some World War II themed scene that was cut out from one of the early seasons. The reason it was removed had something to do with the writers putting in scenes with Hitler in other episodes (ones that aired) and Matt Groening told them to stop putting Hitler in the show.
Since working in this industry there's a bunch of media that we either saw it or have worked on it that I'm pretty sure won't be released anytime soon,
The one that we're still talking in our group, till this day, is from new Animaniac.
There's also a part of that episode where is a parody of Pink Elephant Scene from Dumbo that made by other studio (I think Giant Ant?) that our team really want to see, but I guess we'll never see it now :(
Also keep that in mind that the script and plot were done way wayyyy before Covid happen, the production just happen to be in very wrong time :(
Really unfortunately for the whole team, but we got paid so....I guess that ok :,)
Pretty ironic considering the song they sang about what the future might look like when the season releases VS when it was written, and then a future event effected the show.
Sounds like the predictive programming about the sniffles came out of their hands

It's rare that I say this about lost media, but the DTS pilot, or at least the controversial parts of it, should be lost forever. Those teen girls should not have to have their worst and most humiliating moments preserved like that.
Idk how those sick individuals that did that to the 14 year old children are living right now, very sick and disgusting individuals
Dang- Maybe it should stay lost. For now at least.
The shower rangers guys should’ve been arrested. I hope that it’s never found
Yeah, I don't see why they thought that was a good idea. That's so disgusting.
I think I felt my face starting to cave in from cringing at "Dude This Sucks", like holy fuck dude.

The real question should be: Do those demos even exist anymore? Could those demos have been destroyed by degradation or by deliberate wiping?

This is the most saddest lost media video ever.
Damn. This LsSuperSonic vid makes me sad.
Keep up the fantastic work!!
with a lot of these pre-2010 projects, the likelihood they were ever digitalized or even backed up physically is very low. many physical forms of media simply no longer exist. the mga fire destroyed thousands of film reels and it's just been accepted that those movies are gone forever. and in regards to the mtv pilot being cancelled before airing, that's not uncommon at all. hundreds of thousands of pilots nobody's ever heard of probably exist out there. sometimes shows just don't get picked up.
It sucks that the solution to a lot of issues is literally just "lol, get a time machine, scrub" and it is a decent possibility that creating one is just fundamentally impossible.
Eventually someday someone is going to use AI to recreate Sailor Mouth uncensored.

Shame on the kids for not going near the girls.
Ok let me get this clear............they shitted on two middle schoolers on live tv!?!?
No, it was pre-recorded tv
Thanks for covering Aluminium! I love that song!

Glad you were happy to see it! There's so much more lost Gorillaz content that would be cool to cover too
Sorry to be nitpicky, but I wouldn't consider some of these "lost media," just unreleased media.
